Salt Lake City International Airport is about 9 miles (14 km) from downtown, around 18 minutes on a clear road. For a city trip that is short and simple. What makes Salt Lake different is where many arrivals are actually going: up into the mountains, to Park City or the Cottonwood Canyons, with ski bags, children and a winter forecast. That is where a pre-booked car with a fixed price earns its keep.
Elly8.net books chauffeured sedans, SUVs and Sprinters in Salt Lake City at fixed, all-in prices. SLC to downtown starts at US$125 in a Business Sedan and runs to US$325 in an Executive Sprinter. Hourly service starts at US$95 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, and the 6-hour Park City ski resorts day trip starts at US$525. You see the full price before you pay.
How much is a car service from Salt Lake City airport to downtown?
A pre-booked Elly8.net car from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to downtown Salt Lake City costs US$125 in a Business Sedan, US$165 in a Business SUV, US$200 in a First Class SUV, US$220 in a First Class Sedan and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter. Each price is per vehicle, fixed and all-in, including taxes, gratuity and meet and greet.
A round trip between SLC and downtown runs from US$240 in a Business Sedan to US$620 in an Executive Sprinter. The University of Utah, Sugar House, the suburbs, Park City and the canyon resorts are quoted by the web booker as soon as you enter the address, and the quote is fixed when you reserve.
Each price includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, the standard gratuity and airport meet and greet. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. The Salt Lake City fares panel lists every route and package, and all prices and packages shows Salt Lake City next to every other Elly8.net city.
Arriving at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
SLC's terminal is large, and the walk from a far gate to baggage claim can take a while. Your chauffeur tracks the flight number you give at booking and meets you inside arrivals at baggage claim with a name board, so you do not have to work out the curb layout after a long walk from the gate. Complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included.
The run to downtown is about 18 minutes on a clear road, by interstate or surface streets, depending on traffic and your hotel. Winter storms and weekday rush hour slow it down; the fixed price does not change. Ski bags and boot bags are no problem in a Business SUV or an Executive Sprinter; tell us how many at booking.
Private aircraft also use SLC. For a private flight, give us the tail number and the FBO and the chauffeur waits in the right lobby. See private jet and FBO car service, and our airport transfer page for how pickups work at every Elly8.net airport.

Park City, the Cottonwood Canyons and winter driving
Park City sits east of the city over the Wasatch, and its two big resorts are Park City Mountain and Deer Valley. The Park City ski resorts day trip runs 6 hours and is priced from US$525 in a Business Sedan, US$665 in a Business SUV and US$805 in a First Class SUV, to US$1,050 in an Executive Sprinter. It suits a ski day from a downtown hotel, a look at the resort town, or a business lunch in Park City and back. For transfers to stay in Park City, see our Park City car service page.
The Cottonwood Canyons are closer to the city and very different to drive. Big Cottonwood (SR-190) leads to Solitude and Brighton, and Little Cottonwood (SR-210) leads to Snowbird and Alta. The Utah Department of Transportation's Cottonwood Canyons traction rules apply when the beacons outside the canyons are flashing: at least 5/32-inch tread on each tire, M+S or snow tires on all wheels as the minimum for all-wheel and four-wheel drive vehicles, and three-peak mountain snowflake tires or traction devices for two-wheel drive. UDOT also points out that both roads are dead ends in winter and that there are no gas stations in either canyon.
For canyon and mountain runs we recommend an SUV or a Sprinter, and the desk watches conditions before and during the trip. On a storm day, roads into the canyons can be held or closed, so build slack into any transfer that has to meet a flight. Our city to city car service page explains how long transfers are priced.
Sundance has moved: what that means for Salt Lake
For decades, January in Salt Lake meant Sundance traffic to Park City. That has changed. The Sundance Institute describes the festival as beginning a new chapter in Boulder, Colorado, so Park City and Salt Lake no longer host the main festival. Winter demand here is now driven by the ski season, the holidays and the city's own events. If you are travelling for the festival, see our Denver car service page, where DEN is the arrival airport for Boulder.
Downtown, Temple Square and the Salt Palace
Downtown Salt Lake City is the centre we use for distances. Temple Square is at its heart and draws visitors year-round. A few blocks away, the Salt Palace Convention Center hosts the city's trade shows and conventions, which fill the downtown hotels and make their driveways the slow part of any pickup.
The Delta Center, at 301 S. Temple, is home to the Utah Jazz and the NHL's Utah Mammoth, as well as major concerts. Game nights close streets and fill garages around the arena; the evening out and event night package, from US$475 in a Business Sedan to US$950 in an Executive Sprinter, covers the drop-off, the wait and the ride back. See our sports event transportation page for game-night logistics.
The private city highlights tour runs from US$380 in a Business Sedan to US$760 in an Executive Sprinter, taking in downtown, Temple Square, the Capitol area and the viewpoints above the valley, with the chauffeur waiting at each stop. See private city tours for how tours are planned.
Business travel, roadshows and corporate accounts
Salt Lake's business visitors come for finance and banking, the tech companies along the Wasatch Front, health care, outdoor industry brands and the university. Many days run south towards Lehi and the tech corridor or up to Park City for an offsite. The corporate roadshow day, from US$855 in a Business Sedan to US$1,710 in an Executive Sprinter, keeps one chauffeur with you all day; the hourly chauffeur covers shorter meeting schedules from US$95 an hour.
Corporate accounts get monthly invoicing, saved traveller profiles and fixed prices in every Elly8.net city, with NDAs on request. For conventions and offsites, see our conference transportation and corporate car service pages.
Weddings, proms and nights out
Salt Lake weddings often split between a ceremony downtown and a reception in the foothills or the mountains, which means distance, timing and winter weather for some months of the year. Our wedding limousine page explains how to set up the couple's car and a guest shuttle, and a Sprinter van with driver covers most guest loops. Proms and graduations are covered on the prom limousine page. Your chauffeur follows Utah's local rules on conduct and drinks in the vehicle.
Elly8.net vs taxi vs rideshare vs TRAX
TRAX is the budget option, and it is a good one. UTA's TRAX Green Line runs from West Valley to the Salt Lake City International Airport through downtown, and UTA lists the adult one-way fare at US$2.50 and a day pass at US$5.00. For one traveller with a carry-on heading to a downtown hotel near a station, US$2.50 is very hard to beat, and we would say so.
Taxis and rideshare (Uber and Lyft, including premium tiers such as Uber Black where available) serve the airport and are quick for short city trips. For one or two people going downtown at an ordinary hour, they usually come in under our sedan. Rideshare prices move with demand, and on a storm night or a peak ski weekend, both price and availability for a mountain run are hard to predict.
| Option | SLC to downtown | Where you board | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| TRAX Green Line | US$2.50 one way, US$5.00 day pass | airport TRAX station | one traveller, light bag |
| Taxi | metered | airport taxi area | short notice, short trips |
| Rideshare (Uber, Lyft, Uber Black) | varies with demand | rideshare pickup area | ordinary days |
| Elly8.net Business Sedan | US$125 fixed, gratuity included | inside arrivals with a name board | late flights, meetings, fixed budget |
| Elly8.net Business SUV | US$165 fixed for the vehicle | inside arrivals with a name board | families and ski bags |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter | US$325 fixed for the vehicle | inside arrivals with a name board | groups and ski teams |
A pre-booked chauffeur wins on late arrivals, families with child seats, groups splitting one fixed price, ski bags, and every mountain transfer where you want a confirmed car and a known cost before the flight leaves. Our chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft and chauffeur vs airport shuttle comparisons go through the trade-offs.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car from Salt Lake City airport to downtown?
US$125 in a Business Sedan, US$165 in a Business SUV, US$200 in a First Class SUV, US$220 in a First Class Sedan and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. Prices are fixed and all-in, with taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet included. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
How much is a chauffeured ski day in Park City?
The 6-hour Park City ski resorts day trip runs from US$525 in a Business Sedan, US$665 in a Business SUV, US$805 in a First Class SUV and US$860 in a First Class Sedan, to US$1,050 in an Executive Sprinter. The chauffeur drives, waits and brings you back to your Salt Lake hotel.
Where does the chauffeur meet you at SLC?
Inside arrivals at baggage claim, holding a name board. The chauffeur tracks your flight, so a delay is covered, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included. After you collect your bags and skis, the chauffeur walks you to the car.
Is TRAX cheaper than a car from the airport?
Yes. The TRAX Green Line runs from the airport through downtown, at US$2.50 one way or US$5.00 for a day pass. It is the cheapest option for one traveller with light luggage near a station. A pre-booked car makes more sense for late arrivals, groups, ski bags, child seats and mountain addresses.
Do you drive up the Cottonwood Canyons in winter?
Yes. Enter the resort address in the web booker for a fixed fare. UDOT's traction rules apply when the canyon beacons are flashing, both canyon roads are dead ends in winter, and roads can be held in storms. We recommend an SUV or a Sprinter and extra time on snow days.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, child seats are available on request. Add each child's age and weight when you book so the right seat is fitted before pickup. For a family heading straight to the mountains with ski gear, that is one less thing to arrange on arrival.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free if you cancel more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less it is 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or for a no-show, it is 100%. Refunds go back to the original card.
Do you offer corporate accounts in Salt Lake City?
Yes. Corporate accounts get monthly invoicing, saved traveller profiles and fixed prices in every Elly8.net city. The corporate roadshow day runs from US$855 in a Business Sedan to US$1,710 in an Executive Sprinter, and NDAs are available on request for offsites and confidential meetings.
