A Venice car service booked through Elly8.net is a private chauffeur at a fixed, all-in price set before you fly, charged to your card in US dollars. Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) to Piazzale Roma starts at US$120 in a business sedan and runs to US$315 in an Executive Sprinter; Treviso (TSF) starts at US$175. The chauffeur tracks your flight and waits in arrivals with your name.
Rides in Venice are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Venice is the one city on our list where the car cannot take you to the door of most hotels, so this page starts with exactly where a car can and cannot go, then covers both airports, the water-taxi hand-over, the 2026 and 2027 events, Prosecco and Dolomites days, and an honest comparison with the airport bus and the water bus.
Where can a car go in Venice?
Cars reach the historic city only at its edge: Piazzale Roma, the road terminus at the end of the bridge from the mainland, and the Tronchetto island next to it. Beyond them the centre is canals and footbridges, so you continue by water taxi, vaporetto or on foot. The Lido has roads and is reached by car ferry from Tronchetto.
Piazzale Roma is the reference point for every fare on this page. It is where ATVO, the regional bus company, terminates all its buses, and it is where you change to water transport for the rest of the journey. Tronchetto, the artificial island beside it, holds the large car parks and the car ferry to the Lido. Mestre, Marghera and the mainland hotels along the lagoon are ordinary road destinations, as are the airport, Treviso, the Prosecco hills and the Dolomites.
What the car cannot do is cross into the city of canals. San Marco, Rialto, Dorsoduro, Cannaregio and Castello have no roads for cars. If your hotel is on the Grand Canal, your last leg is by water.
Marco Polo and Treviso airports
| Airport | Distance to Piazzale Roma | Clear-road drive | Business Sedan | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Venice Marco Polo (VCE) | 15 km / 9 mi | about 20 min | from US$120 | US$210 | US$315 |
| Treviso (TSF) | 30 km / 18 mi | about 42 min | from US$175 | US$310 | US$455 |
Venice Marco Polo (VCE). Venice's main airport sits on the mainland edge of the lagoon and is where most long-haul and main European flights to Venice land. Give us your flight number: the chauffeur tracks the landing and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board once you have your bags. Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. The drive across the Ponte della Libertà to Piazzale Roma is about 15 km (9 mi), roughly 20 minutes on a clear road, and fixed fares start at US$120 in a business sedan, US$160 in a business SUV and US$315 in a Sprinter. Round trips start at US$230. Book a Venice airport transfer and see how the hand-over works on airport meet and greet.
Treviso (TSF). Treviso's Canova airport, about 30 km (18 mi) from Piazzale Roma, handles mainly European short-haul flights. ATVO says its own bus takes about 70 minutes from Treviso to Piazzale Roma; a car takes roughly 42 minutes on a clear road. Fixed fares start at US$175 in a business sedan, US$230 in a business SUV and US$455 in a Sprinter, with round trips from US$335.
The water-taxi hand-over at Piazzale Roma
For a hotel in the historic centre, a Venice arrival has two parts. The car brings you, your family and all your luggage from the airport to Piazzale Roma in one vehicle. From there, the vaporetto water buses and water taxis take over. A water taxi is a separate service: it is booked with a licensed water-taxi operator or through your hotel, and paid to the operator. Elly8.net books the car.
To make the change smooth, give us your hotel and, if you have one, the water-taxi booking time. The chauffeur times the arrival at Piazzale Roma to it and drops you as close to the water as the square allows, with help for the bags. Leaving Venice, the order reverses: book the car at Piazzale Roma for the time your water taxi lands, and the chauffeur is waiting.
When a car is not the best answer. If you are a couple with light bags going straight from Marco Polo to a hotel on the Grand Canal, a water taxi or the Alilaguna water bus from the airport can take you there without a change. We would rather say so. The car earns its place when you have heavy luggage, children, a mainland or Lido hotel, a group that needs a Sprinter, or an onward drive to the mountains, the Prosecco hills or another city.
The Lido. The Lido has roads, hotels and, at the end of summer, the Venice Film Festival. The ACTV car ferry, line 17, carries vehicles between Tronchetto and the Lido. For a Lido hotel, request the transfer through the web booker and the desk returns a fixed fare for the whole journey.
Venice events in 2026 and 2027
These are the next editions after October 2026 as published by the organisers. Hotel rooms and boats sell out first, cars next.
- Biennale Arte 2026, closing 22 November 2026. The 61st International Art Exhibition, In Minor Keys, runs at the Giardini and Arsenale until Sunday 22 November 2026, per La Biennale di Venezia. The closing weeks draw collectors and gallery teams.
- Carnevale di Venezia, 23 January to 9 February 2027. The official Carnival site lists the 2027 dates. Weekends are crowded at Piazzale Roma; give yourself extra time for the hand-over and book the return car before you travel.
- Biennale Architettura 2027, 8 May to 21 November 2027. The 20th International Architecture Exhibition fills the second half of the year.
- Venice International Film Festival. The 84th edition at the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido is held in late summer; La Biennale publishes the dates. A car on the Lido covers hotel-to-Palazzo runs, with Marco Polo transfers to Piazzale Roma or across on the car ferry.
For gala dinners and evenings on the mainland, the evening out and event night package costs from US$450 in a business sedan to US$900 in a Sprinter. See event transportation.
Prosecco hills, the Dolomites and other days out
The signature Venice day trip is 8 hours in the Prosecco hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene. Valdobbiadene is about 78 km (49 mi) north of Piazzale Roma, roughly 72 minutes on a clear road, and the day runs along the steep vineyards between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano with visits to producers. The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco consortium lists wineries open to visitors; book tastings in advance and send us the times. The chauffeur drives and follows local rules in the vehicle. The day costs from US$665 in a business sedan, US$850 in a business SUV, US$1,070 in a First Class Sedan and US$1,325 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in. See wine tours.
Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Dolomites. Cortina, which co-hosted the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games with Milan, is about 156 km (97 mi) from Piazzale Roma, roughly 2 hours on a clear road, and about 147 km (91 mi) from Marco Polo. As a day trip it is a long one: mountain passes, Lake Misurina or the Tre Cime viewpoints and lunch in town, then the drive back. Book it as a full-day chauffeur, from US$665 in a business sedan to US$1,325 in a Sprinter, or as a one-way transfer to a mountain hotel through the web booker. In winter, ski luggage fits best in a Business SUV or Sprinter.
Verona, Padua and the Brenta villas. Verona is about 121 km (75 mi) west, around 83 minutes on a clear road; Padua and the Palladian villas along the Brenta canal are closer. Each works as a full-day chauffeur.
Inside Venice. The private city highlights tour, from US$360 in a business sedan to US$720 in a Sprinter, is a mainland and lagoon-edge tour by car; for the islands, Murano and Burano are reached by water. The Doge's Palace and St Mark's Basilica, run by the Fondazione Musei Civici, sell timed tickets. To keep a car on call on the mainland, book car service by the hour: US$90 an hour in a business sedan, US$115 in a business SUV and US$180 in a Sprinter, 3-hour minimum. See private city tours.
Airport bus, water bus, taxi or a pre-booked chauffeur
From Marco Polo, the public bus is fast. ATVO says its express bus reaches Piazzale Roma in about 20 minutes, with departures timed around major flight arrivals and plenty of luggage space; from Treviso its bus takes about 70 minutes. The Alilaguna water bus runs from the airport directly into the lagoon, and private water taxis leave from the airport's boat dock at operator prices.
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| ATVO express bus VCE to Piazzale Roma | ATVO fare, per person | about 20 min | Solo travellers with light bags |
| ATVO bus TSF to Piazzale Roma | ATVO fare, per person | about 70 min | Budget arrivals at Treviso |
| Alilaguna water bus from VCE | Alilaguna fare, per person | Longer, with stops | Hotels near an Alilaguna stop |
| Private water taxi from VCE | Set by the operator | Direct to many hotel landings | Couples with light bags on the Grand Canal |
| Land taxi from the VCE rank | Per car | about 20 min clear road | Spontaneous trips to Piazzale Roma or Mestre |
| Elly8.net business sedan VCE to Piazzale Roma | US$120 fixed, per vehicle | about 20 min clear road, meet and greet | Families, heavy luggage, mainland and Lido hotels, onward drives |
Be honest about the choice. For one traveller with a carry-on, the bus and a vaporetto are the sensible answer. For a hotel right on the water, a direct water taxi can beat any combination. A pre-booked car wins when the airport arrival is late, when you have four suitcases and two children, when you are staying in Mestre, Treviso or the Lido, when you need a Sprinter for a group, or when Venice is the start of a drive to the Dolomites or another city. Compare in detail on chauffeur vs airport shuttle, chauffeur vs taxi and chauffeur vs renting a car.
Onward to Milan, Lake Como and the Alps
Many itineraries start or end in Venice. Piazzale Roma to central Milan is about 266 km (165 mi), roughly 3 hours on a clear road, a door-to-door alternative to the train when you have luggage or want a stop in Verona or at Lake Garda. Book it through the city to city car service and continue with our Milan chauffeur service, Lake Como transfers or the St. Moritz car service. Going south, high-speed trains from Venezia Santa Lucia, the station facing the Grand Canal near Piazzale Roma, connect with our Florence chauffeur service; book train station transfers at the other end.
Corporate travel, weddings and groups
Corporate visitors to the Veneto split their time between Venice itself and the industrial mainland around Mestre, Padua and Treviso. The corporate roadshow day costs from US$810 in a business sedan to US$1,620 in a Sprinter, and a corporate account adds fixed fares at both airports, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request. See corporate car service.
Weddings in Venice combine boats and cars: a water taxi for the ceremony in the city, and an Executive Sprinter with driver for guests staying on the mainland or the Lido, or for a reception at a villa on the Brenta. See wedding transportation and group transportation. Travel agents and hotel concierges book on account through travel agent accounts and hotel accounts. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley; see the fleet.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car from Marco Polo Airport to Venice?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Marco Polo (VCE) to Piazzale Roma costs from US$120 in a business sedan, US$160 in a business SUV, US$210 in a First Class Sedan and US$315 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Can the car take me to my hotel in Venice?
Only if your hotel is at Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto, on the mainland or on the Lido. The historic centre has no roads, so for a hotel in San Marco, Rialto or Dorsoduro the car brings you to Piazzale Roma and you continue by water taxi, vaporetto or on foot.
Do you book the water taxi?
No. Elly8.net books the car. Book the water taxi with a licensed operator or through your hotel, then give us the time; the chauffeur times the arrival at Piazzale Roma to it and helps with your luggage.
Where does the chauffeur meet me at Marco Polo?
In the arrivals hall, holding a name board, after baggage claim. The chauffeur tracks your flight number, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, so a delayed landing or slow baggage is handled automatically.
Can you drive us to Cortina and the Dolomites?
Yes. Cortina is about 156 km (97 mi) from Piazzale Roma, roughly 2 hours on a clear road. Book a full-day chauffeur from US$665 in a business sedan for a day trip, or a one-way transfer to a mountain hotel through the web booker for a fixed price.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Ask for child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. A Business SUV or Sprinter fits seats, a stroller and luggage for the change to the water taxi.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less a 10% fee applies, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds return to the original card.
Can you move a group or a wedding party?
Yes. An Executive Sprinter carries a group and its luggage in one vehicle, from US$315 from Marco Polo to Piazzale Roma. For weddings and events on the mainland or the Lido, the desk schedules several vehicles and an hourly booking keeps a car on call.
