A St. Moritz transfer booked through Elly8.net is a private chauffeur and vehicle at a fixed, all-in price, agreed before you fly and charged to your card in US dollars. Zurich Airport to St. Moritz Dorf costs from US$745 in a business sedan to US$1,940 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, not per person. From Engadin Airport in Samedan, where most private jets land, the short drive into town starts at US$125.
Rides in St. Moritz are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. St. Moritz is a small town at the top of a long journey, and the journey is the part that needs planning: an Alpine pass or a car train in winter, three hours on the road from Zurich or Milan, and a valley where the big weekends of January and February fill every car. This page covers the three airports, the winter roads, the events, and when the train is the better choice.
How much is a transfer from Zurich Airport to St. Moritz?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Zurich Airport to St. Moritz Dorf costs from US$745 in a business sedan, US$970 in a business SUV, US$1,195 in a First Class SUV, US$1,305 in a First Class Sedan and US$1,940 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, including chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet.
The road distance is about 217 km (135 mi), and the drive takes about three hours on a clear road. The St. Moritz tourist office gives the same figure for the drive from Zurich or from Milan. The fare is fixed whatever the traffic and the weather do on the day; tolls and parking, where they arise, are billed at cost. A round trip from Zurich and back costs from US$1,420 in a business sedan to US$3,690 in an Executive Sprinter, which most guests book together so the departure is settled before they arrive.
Zurich, Milan Malpensa and Engadin Airport
| Airport | Distance to St. Moritz Dorf | Clear-road drive | Business sedan | Business SUV | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zurich (ZRH) | 217 km / 135 mi | about 3 hours | from US$745 | US$970 | US$1,940 |
| Milan Malpensa (MXP) | about 189 km / 117 mi | about 3 hours | quoted in the web booker | - | - |
| Engadin Airport, Samedan (SMV) | 8 km / 5 mi | about 12 min | from US$125 | US$165 | US$325 |
Zurich (ZRH). Zurich Airport is the usual gateway for North American travellers, either nonstop or through one of the European hubs. Give us your flight number when you book. The chauffeur tracks the landing, waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and loads the bags and skis; complimentary waiting after a tracked landing covers a slow passport line or a long wait at the oversize baggage belt. Read more on airport transfers and meet and greet. If you are spending a night in the city first, our Zurich chauffeur and airport transfers page covers the city.
Milan Malpensa (MXP). Coming from Italy, the road runs north past Lake Como and Chiavenna, then climbs the Maloja Pass into the Engadin. We measure it at about 189 km (117 mi), and the tourist office puts the drive from Milan at around three hours. Malpensa transfers are not on the published price list; enter the route in the web booker for a fixed quote. Many guests combine the mountains with a few days in Italy, and the same desk runs the Milan chauffeur service and Lake Como car service.
Engadin Airport, Samedan (SMV). Engadin Airport describes itself as Europe's highest-altitude airport, at 1,707 m (5,600 ft). It serves private jets, charter flights, air taxis and helicopters, and it sits about 8 km (5 mi) and 12 minutes from St. Moritz Dorf. Transfers into town start at US$125 in a business sedan and US$220 in a First Class Sedan, with round trips from US$240. Tell us the tail number or the handling agent and the estimated arrival time, and the chauffeur meets you as the handler directs. See private jet and FBO transfers.
The winter roads: passes, the Vereina car train and timing
St. Moritz is reached by mountain roads, and in winter the choice of road matters. The Engadin tourist board's road report lists the Ofen, Julier and Maloja passes as open all year round, while the Albula and Flüela passes close in winter. From Zurich, the winter road runs on the motorway to Chur and then over the Julier Pass; from Milan, the Maloja Pass is the way in.
The alternative is the train for the car. The Rhaetian Railway's Vereina car transporter carries vehicles through the 19 km Vereina Tunnel between Klosters Selfranga and Sagliains in the Engadin in 18 minutes, all year round. Its winter timetable runs from 1 December 2026 to 30 April 2027, and the railway publishes expected congestion times for busy winter weekends. When snow is falling on the Julier, the chauffeur may choose the tunnel; the fixed fare does not change, and any car-train ticket is billed at cost.
Timing matters as much as the route. Saturdays and the big event weekends bring queues at the car train and slower traffic on the passes. A midweek or Sunday arrival is calmer, and an early flight home from Zurich means a pickup well before dawn. The desk works back from your flight time: about three hours to the airport in good conditions, extra margin when snow is forecast, and the check-in time your airline recommends for a long-haul flight with ski bags.
The St. Moritz season: polo, horses and World Cup racing
Winter in St. Moritz is a calendar of events on snow and on the frozen lake, and each one fills hotels and cars across the valley. These are the dates we are booking for the 2026 to 2027 season:
| Event | Dates | Where | What it means for your car |
|---|---|---|---|
| FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, women's speed races | 18 to 20 December 2026 | Corviglia, Salastrains | Pre-Christmas arrivals from Zurich; book early |
| IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup | 22 to 24 January 2027 | Olympic Bob Run | Same weekend as the polo |
| Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz | 22 to 24 January 2027 | Frozen Lake St. Moritz | Hourly cars between hotels and the lake |
| The ICE St. Moritz | 29 and 30 January 2027 | Frozen Lake St. Moritz | Day and evening movements around town |
| White Turf horse racing | Sundays 7, 14 and 21 February 2027 | Frozen Lake St. Moritz | Race-day drop-offs and late returns |
The 42nd Snow Polo World Cup and the bobsleigh World Cup share the weekend of 22 to 24 January, which makes it one of the busiest of the winter for transfers and hourly cars. White Turf, racing on the frozen lake since 1907, runs on three Sundays in February, with Family Days on the Saturdays before. For these weekends, book the Zurich transfer and an hourly chauffeur together. St. Moritz car service by the hour costs US$100 an hour in a business sedan, US$125 in a business SUV, US$150 in a First Class SUV, US$160 in a First Class Sedan and US$200 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. Getting around St. Moritz and the Engadin
St. Moritz has two parts: St. Moritz Dorf on the hillside, with the grand hotels and the boutiques, and St. Moritz Bad by the lake. Our fares are calculated to St. Moritz Dorf; hotels in Bad, Champfèr, Celerina, Pontresina, Samedan and Sils are a short drive away and quoted through the web booker.
The Corviglia ski area rises above Dorf, and the St. Moritz tourist office publishes arrival, lift and event information for the whole resort. A chauffeur by the hour or for the day is the simplest way to combine a morning on the slopes with lunch on the mountain and dinner in another village, without anyone needing to drive after a long day. The full-day chauffeur costs from US$740 in a business sedan to US$1,475 in an Executive Sprinter.
The evening out and event night package, from US$500 in a business sedan to US$1,000 in a Sprinter, keeps the car waiting through dinner and a late night, then takes you door to door back up the hill; the chauffeur follows local rules throughout. The private highlights tour, from US$400 in a business sedan, takes in St. Moritz, the lakes of the Upper Engadin and the villages of the valley, with stops as you choose.
The Glacier Express, the Bernina Express and station transfers
The most famous way into St. Moritz is by rail. The Rhaetian Railway's Albula and Bernina lines are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and St. Moritz is served by the Glacier Express and the Bernina Express, which crosses the Bernina Pass to Tirano in Italy. The tourist office puts the train journey from Zurich main station at about three hours.
Many of our guests ride one way and drive the other. A chauffeur meets the train at St. Moritz station with a name board, loads the luggage the train made awkward, and takes you to the hotel; or collects you from the hotel for the train and meets you at the other end. See train station transfers and city to city car service.
Train, taxi, rental car or a private chauffeur
| Option | Price | Time from Zurich | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swiss rail via Chur | Per seat, set by the railway | About 3 hours from Zurich main station, plus the airport connection | Solo travellers and couples with light luggage |
| Rental car | Daily rate, fuel and parking | About 3 hours for a confident winter driver | Drivers used to Alpine passes in snow |
| Local taxi in the Engadin | Metered | Short hops in the valley | A quick ride between villages |
| Elly8.net from Zurich | From US$745 per vehicle, fixed | About 3 hours, door to door | Families, groups, skis, late arrivals, fixed budgets |
The honest view: if you are travelling alone or as a couple with a suitcase each, the train is excellent value and a spectacular ride. Uber operates in Zurich, but a ride-hailing car from the airport to the Engadin is not something to plan a ski week around. A rental car makes sense for confident winter drivers who want a car for the whole stay.
A private chauffeur wins for families and groups with skis, for anyone arriving on a late or delayed flight, and for guests who would rather not drive a mountain pass in snow after an overnight flight. An Executive Sprinter from US$1,940 carries a family of six or a group of friends with skis, boots and luggage in one vehicle, door to door, and costs less per person than many expect. Child seats are available on request. See Sprinter van with driver and our chauffeur vs car rental guide.
Corporate travel, chalets and hotels
Companies bringing clients to St. Moritz for the polo, White Turf or a winter incentive can use a corporate account with fixed fares from Zurich, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request. The corporate roadshow day, from US$900 in a business sedan to US$1,800 in an Executive Sprinter, covers a full day of movements between hotels, the lake and the airport. See corporate car service. Hotels, chalet operators and travel agents book guests on account through hotel accounts and travel agent accounts.
Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley, all from licensed, commercially insured operators. See the fleet.
