A Hamburg airport transfer booked through Elly8.net is a private chauffeur and vehicle at a fixed, all-in price, agreed before you fly and charged to your card in US dollars. Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport (HAM) to the Jungfernstieg on the Inner Alster costs from US$100 in a business sedan to US$260 in an Executive Sprinter, and the same desk handles cruise embarkation days, concerts at the Elbphilharmonie and long days at the trade fair.
Rides in Hamburg are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. The airport is only about 12 km (7 mi) from the centre, so the case for a chauffeur here is less about distance and more about luggage, timing and the port. This page covers the airport, the cruise terminals, the hotel districts, the event calendar and an honest comparison with the S-Bahn, taxis and ride-hailing apps.
How much is a car from Hamburg Airport to the city?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Hamburg Airport (HAM) to the Jungfernstieg costs from US$100 in a business sedan, US$130 in a business SUV, US$160 in a First Class SUV and US$260 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. The price includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
The road distance is about 12 km (7 mi) and the drive takes about 22 minutes on a clear road. Weekday rush hours on the routes into the centre can stretch that, and roadworks are a regular feature of Hamburg driving, but the fare is fixed and does not change with traffic. A First Class Sedan costs US$175. A round trip, booked together so the departure is settled when you land, costs from US$190 in a business sedan to US$495 in a Sprinter.
| Route | Distance | Clear-road drive | Business sedan | Business SUV | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HAM to the Jungfernstieg | 12 km / 7 mi | about 22 min | from US$100 | US$130 | US$260 |
| HAM round trip | 24 km / 15 mi | 2 x 22 min | from US$190 | US$250 | US$495 |
| By the hour, as directed | 3-hour minimum | - | US$85 per hour | US$110 per hour | US$170 per hour |
Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport: terminals and meeting point
HAM has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Most travellers from North America reach Hamburg by connecting through another European hub, so your flight number matters: give it when you book and the chauffeur tracks the actual landing rather than a timetable. The chauffeur meets you in the arrivals area of your terminal with a name board, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. If a connection in Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, London or Paris is missed, message the 24/7 desk with the new flight and the pickup moves with it.
Tell us how many checked bags, golf bags or strollers you are bringing, and whether anyone needs a child seat; the desk assigns a vehicle that fits rather than one that nearly fits. Read more about airport transfers and meet and greet across the network.
If you are arriving on a private flight, give us the operator and tail number with the booking and the desk arranges the pickup point with the handling agent; see private jet and FBO transfers.
S-Bahn, taxi, ride-hailing or a pre-booked chauffeur
Hamburg's public transport from the airport is genuinely good, and it is worth saying so plainly. According to Hamburg Airport, S-Bahn line S1 runs between the airport and Hamburg Central Station every 10 minutes, with a journey time of 25 minutes, and the station is reached directly from the arrivals level of both terminals. An hvv single ticket for one or two fare rings costs €4.10. Taxis wait at the ranks in front of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 on the arrivals level, and the airport notes that the taxi companies can agree fixed prices in advance for pre-booked trips.
| Option | Price | Time to the centre | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| S-Bahn S1 | hvv single from €4.10 per person | about 25 min to Central Station, every 10 min | One traveller, light bag, hotel near the station |
| Taxi from the rank | Metered, or a fixed price agreed in advance | about 22 min plus traffic | Short notice, short trips |
| Ride-hailing app | Dynamic, changes with demand | Pickup wait plus drive | Off-peak trips, where the app operates |
| Elly8.net business sedan | From US$100 per vehicle, fixed | about 22 min, door to door | Families, groups, late arrivals, fixed budgets |
The honest view: if you are travelling alone with a carry-on and staying near the Hauptbahnhof, the S1 is the sensible choice and it costs a fraction of any car. A taxi from the rank is fine for a short, uncomplicated trip with one or two bags.
A pre-booked chauffeur wins in different situations. A family of four with checked bags and a child seat, a group heading to a cruise terminal, an executive with a meeting in the HafenCity an hour after landing, or anyone arriving late after a long connection will find the fixed price and the name board in arrivals worth it. With an Executive Sprinter at US$260, a group of six pays less per person than many expect, and there is no surge pricing on a busy fair morning. Our guides to chauffeur vs taxi and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft set out the trade-offs in more detail.
Cruise terminals: Altona, Steinwerder and HafenCity
Embarkation day is where a pre-booked car earns its fare in Hamburg. The city's cruise guide describes three cruise terminals, and Cruise Gate Hamburg, the operator of the city's cruise terminals, lists Cruise Center Steinwerder, Cruise Center Altona, Cruise Center HafenCity and Cruise Center Baakenhöft.
Cruise Center Altona is in Altona on the north bank of the Elbe, convenient for hotels in Altona, Ottensen and St. Pauli, and known for its accessible roof.
Cruise Center Steinwerder is on the south bank, in the working port, and the city notes that it can accommodate ships of more than 330 metres. The drive from the centre crosses the river, so your chauffeur plans the route and the departure time around port traffic and the check-in window.
Cruise Center HafenCity opened in September 2025 inside the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, according to Cruise Gate Hamburg, putting cruise passengers within walking distance of the HafenCity shops and the Elbphilharmonie.
Tell us the ship and the terminal when you book. The chauffeur meets you at the airport, loads the luggage and drives you to the terminal for your check-in window, or picks you up after disembarkation and takes you to HAM, a hotel or another city. Pre-cruise hotel nights are common, and many guests add an hourly chauffeur for the day before sailing. See cruise port transfers.
Where to stay: the Alster, HafenCity and the Elbe
The Inner Alster and Neustadt. The Jungfernstieg, our reference point for fares, faces the Inner Alster. The grand hotels along the water and the shopping streets around Neuer Wall are a few minutes from the town hall and the business district.
HafenCity and the Speicherstadt. The redeveloped port quarter holds the Elbphilharmonie, the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, waterfront hotels and offices. The historic warehouse district next to it, the Speicherstadt, is home to Miniatur Wunderland, which sells timed tickets, so arrive on time rather than early.
St. Pauli and the Landungsbrücken. The river front, the harbour ferry piers and the nightlife of the Reeperbahn. Evening pickups here are better planned in advance, because kerb space is limited on busy nights and the chauffeur needs an agreed meeting point.
The Outer Alster, Rotherbaum and Harvestehude. Quieter residential districts with boutique hotels around the larger lake, a short drive from the Dammtor station and the congress district.
Inside the city, the hourly service is the flexible option: US$85 an hour in a business sedan, US$110 in a business SUV, US$140 in a First Class Sedan, US$130 in a First Class SUV and US$170 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. See hourly chauffeur.
The Elbphilharmonie and nights out
The Elbphilharmonie stands at the western tip of the HafenCity, built on top of an old warehouse, with a public Plaza that needs its own ticket. On concert nights the approach roads and the drop-off area are busy before the first note and after the last encore, which is when a chauffeur who waits for you is worth having. The evening out and event night package costs from US$425 in a business sedan to US$850 in an Executive Sprinter, and covers dinner in the HafenCity or along the Elbe, the concert and the drive back to your hotel.
The private city highlights tour, from US$340 in a business sedan to US$680 in a Sprinter, covers the Alster, the town hall, the Speicherstadt, the HafenCity and the Elbe shore at Övelgönne. For weddings, anniversaries and private dinners, see wedding limousine and event transportation. The chauffeur follows local rules on everything inside the vehicle.
Trade fairs, congresses and the Port Anniversary
Hamburg's congress district is in the centre. Hamburg Messe und Congress describes its exhibition campus and the CCH - Congress Center Hamburg as one coherent event area, connected by the Planten un Blomen park. That keeps hotel-to-hall transfers short, but on the opening morning of a large congress the entrances are crowded and taxis are scarce, so delegations book cars by the hour or a corporate roadshow day.
The biggest public event on the calendar is the Hamburg Port Anniversary: the 838th edition runs from 6 to 9 May 2027, with ships on the Elbe and large crowds along the river front. If you are flying in that weekend, book the airport transfer as early as your flights, and expect detours near the Landungsbrücken.
Hamburg is also a practical base for a fair in another city. Hannover Messe runs from 5 to 8 April 2027, and the fairground is about 164 km (102 mi) from central Hamburg, about 1 hour 47 minutes on a clear road. Delegates staying in Hamburg often book a daily car for the whole show; quote the route through the web booker. See conference transportation.
Corporate travel and roadshows
Visiting teams in Hamburg are often here for the port, shipping and logistics, trade fairs or media, and usually need a car that waits between meetings rather than a series of separate rides. The corporate roadshow day costs from US$765 in a business sedan, US$990 in a business SUV and US$1,260 in a First Class Sedan to US$1,530 in an Executive Sprinter. The full-day chauffeur, from US$630 to US$1,255, suits a looser schedule. See roadshow chauffeur and corporate car service.
Companies can open a corporate account with fixed fares, monthly invoicing, one booking contact for many travellers and NDAs on request. Hotels and travel agents book guests on account through hotel accounts and travel agent accounts.
Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley, all from licensed, commercially insured operators. Choose from a Business Sedan, Business SUV, First Class Sedan, First Class SUV or Executive Sprinter; see the fleet.
Day trips and onward journeys
Hamburg has no fixed day-trip package on our price list, but the full-day chauffeur covers the obvious ones. Lübeck, the old Hanseatic city behind its brick Holstentor gate, is about 66 km (41 mi) away, about 50 minutes on a clear road, and makes an easy day with lunch in the old town. The full-day chauffeur costs from US$630 in a business sedan to US$1,255 in an Executive Sprinter.
Longer journeys are quoted on the web booker. Hamburg to Berlin is about 290 km (180 mi) by road, roughly three hours on a clear motorway, and is a common one-way transfer for travellers combining the two cities. Copenhagen and Amsterdam are also within a day's drive. See city to city car service, and train station transfers for pickups at the Hauptbahnhof and Dammtor.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a transfer from Hamburg Airport to the city centre?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from HAM to the Jungfernstieg costs from US$100 in a business sedan, US$130 in a business SUV, US$175 in a First Class Sedan and US$260 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
How long is the drive from HAM to central Hamburg?
About 12 km (7 mi) and about 22 minutes on a clear road. Weekday rush hours and roadworks can add time, but the fare is fixed and does not change with traffic. The S-Bahn S1 takes about 25 minutes to Central Station and runs every 10 minutes, which is a good option if you travel light.
Where does the chauffeur meet me at Hamburg Airport?
In the arrivals area of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, depending on your airline, with a name board. The chauffeur tracks your flight from the number you give when booking, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. If you miss a connection, message the 24/7 desk with the new flight and the pickup moves.
Can you take us to a cruise terminal?
Yes. Tell us the ship and whether it sails from Altona, Steinwerder or HafenCity, and the chauffeur times the drive to your check-in window. Disembarkation pickups to HAM, a hotel or another city work the same way, and a Business SUV or Executive Sprinter takes cruise luggage for a family or group.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Ask for child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. Combined with the luggage space of an SUV or Sprinter, that makes a private transfer the easiest way into the city for families after a long flight.
Can you drive us from Hamburg to Berlin or Hannover?
Yes. Hamburg to Berlin is about 290 km (180 mi), roughly three hours on a clear road, and Hamburg to the Hannover Messe fairground is about 164 km (102 mi). Both are quoted through the web booker as fixed one-way or return fares, and daily trade-fair cars can be booked for the whole show.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. A 10% fee applies at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds go to the original card used for the booking.
Do you offer corporate accounts in Hamburg?
Yes. A corporate account gives fixed fares, monthly invoicing, one point of contact for many travellers and NDAs on request. Trade-fair delegations and roadshows usually book the corporate roadshow day, from US$765 in a business sedan to US$1,530 in an Executive Sprinter.
