A Santorini car service booked through Elly8.net is a private chauffeur at a fixed, all-in price, agreed before you travel and charged in US dollars. The transfer from Santorini International Airport (JTR) to Fira, Oia and the caldera villages costs from US$135 in a business sedan to US$355 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, with the chauffeur tracking your flight and waiting at arrivals with a name board.
Rides in Santorini are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Santorini rewards planning more than almost any island in Greece. The ferry port sits at the foot of a cliff, cruise passengers land at a harbour no car can reach, and the road to Oia fills before sunset. This page explains each of those, compares the island's taxis, buses and cable car honestly, and shows how the desk times the car around them.
How much is a car from Santorini airport to Oia or Fira?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Santorini airport to Fira and Oia costs from US$135 in a business sedan, US$180 in a business SUV, US$220 in a First Class SUV, US$240 in a First Class Sedan and US$355 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Parking is billed at cost.
The airport is on the east side of the island, near Kamari and Monolithos. Fira is only about 7 km (4 mi) away, and Oia, at the northern tip, is about 19 km (12 mi) by road, roughly 22 minutes on a clear road. In summer the caldera road between Fira and Oia is slow from late afternoon, so allow 35 to 45 minutes to Oia at that time. A round trip, airport to your hotel and back on departure day, costs from US$260 in a business sedan to US$675 in a Sprinter.
Arriving at Santorini airport
JTR is a small island airport operated by Fraport Greece. Most North American visitors arrive on a connection from Athens, a flight Visit Greece puts at about 50 minutes, or on seasonal flights from other European cities. Give us the flight number of the flight that lands on Santorini. The chauffeur tracks it, waits at arrivals with a name board, and loads the bags, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. If you miss the connection in Athens, the 24/7 desk moves the pickup to the next flight.
The airport's taxi page places the taxi stand in front of the departures building, and the public bus to Fira stops by the terminal, with tickets bought from the conductor. When several flights land together, the taxi stand can empty quickly. See Santorini airport transfers and meet and greet.
Athinios ferry port and the switchback road
Ferries to Santorini arrive at Athinios, the island's main port, south of Fira. The Municipality of Thira notes that high-speed ferries from Piraeus and Rafina take about 4.5 to 5 hours and conventional ferries 7 to 8 hours, with routes also from Crete, Mykonos, Paros and Naxos. Athinios is about 8 km (5 mi) from Fira and about 11 km (7 mi) from the airport by road, roughly 12 to 15 minutes on a clear road.
The port sits at the bottom of the caldera cliff, and the only way up by road is a single switchback climbing the cliff face. When a large ferry docks, coaches, buses, taxis and rental cars all leave at once, and the climb can take far longer than the distance suggests. A pre-booked chauffeur does not remove the queue, but it removes the scramble: the car is already at the quay, the bags go straight in, and you are not competing for one of a few taxis. Send us the ferry operator and scheduled arrival, and if the boat runs late, the desk adjusts the pickup.
Leaving by ferry, the same road works in reverse, and the port area is tight. We usually set the pickup so you reach Athinios an hour before departure, earlier in peak season. There is no fixed price-list fare for Athinios; quote it in the web booker for an instant fixed price. Read more on ferry and cruise port transfers.
Cruise days: the Old Port, the cable car and where the car meets you
Cruise passengers coming ashore by tender land at the Old Port below Fira, at sea level under the cliff. No car can reach the Old Port. The way up is the cable car, the long staircase, or the traditional donkey rides, and the chauffeur meets you at the top in Fira, at the nearest point a car can reach.
The Santorini Cable Car, operated by the Loula and Evangelos Nomikos Foundation, links the Old Port with Fira in about three minutes. Its published price list shows €10 for a one-way adult ticket and €5 per piece of luggage. On a busy cruise day the queue at the lower station can be long, so build that into the plan: give us the ship name and your all-aboard time, and the desk sets a pickup that leaves a margin for the return queue.
A cruise call is usually short, and that is where a car by the hour works well. Santorini car service by the hour costs US$90 in a business sedan, US$115 in a business SUV and US$180 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum, enough for Oia, a winery and a view stop before you head back down. The private city highlights tour, from US$360 in a business sedan to US$720 in a Sprinter, packages the same idea. If your cruise line names a different landing point, the chauffeur meets you there instead. See private city tours.
Taxi, bus, cable car or chauffeur: the honest comparison
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Island taxi | Fixed fares on common routes, no meters | Short drives, but taxis are limited and waits can be long | Light travellers when one is free |
| KTEL bus, Fira to the airport | €2.20 | Timetabled, via Kamari and Monolithos | One traveller, light bag |
| KTEL bus, Fira to Athinios port | €2.70 | Timetabled | Budget ferry connections |
| Cable car, Old Port to Fira | €10 one way, €5 per bag | About three minutes plus the queue | Cruise passengers |
| Elly8.net business sedan | US$135 fixed, per vehicle | Door to door, about 22 minutes to Oia on a clear road | Families, groups, ferries, sunsets, fixed budgets |
The municipality says taxis on the island are limited, waits can be long, fares are fixed for common routes and taxis do not use meters. The KTEL Santorini fare table, last updated on 19 May 2026, lists €2.20 from Fira to the airport and to Oia, and €2.70 from Fira to the port at Athinios; the bus network runs out of Fira. For a single traveller staying in Fira with a carry-on, the bus is cheap and perfectly workable.
A pre-booked chauffeur wins where Santorini is at its hardest: a ferry docking at night at the foot of the cliff, a family with child seats and five suitcases, a hotel in Oia or Imerovigli with steps down from the road, a sunset dinner with a fixed return time, or a group that would need several taxis on a day when few are free. The fare is fixed in dollars before you travel. For the broader reasoning see chauffeur vs taxi and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft.
Oia at sunset and the caldera villages
Oia. The village at the northern tip is famous for its sunset over the caldera, and in summer it seems the whole island drives there at once. The road north to Oia is at its busiest in the hour before sunset, and the municipality warns that parking in Oia and Fira fills up quickly. The desk plans around it: an earlier drop-off before the rush, a fixed meeting point after the sun goes down, and a return once the first wave of traffic has cleared, rather than joining the line of cars leaving straight after. The evening out and event night package, from US$450 in a business sedan to US$900 in a Sprinter, keeps the car with you for dinner as well.
Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigli. The capital and the villages along the cliff to its north hold many of the island's caldera hotels. Many are built down the cliff face and reached by steps from a lane above, so the car stops on the road. Tell us the hotel and we will confirm the drop-off point and coordinate the bags with reception.
Pyrgos and Megalochori. The inland villages to the south are quieter, with views back across the island. Pyrgos is about 5 km (3 mi) from Fira and a natural first stop on a winery day.
Wineries and days out
Santorini's vineyards make a half day of their own. Santo Wines, in Pyrgos, offers tastings on terraces overlooking the caldera, including its Vinsanto, and other wineries sit in the villages of the south. With a chauffeur, nobody in the party has to drive between tastings. Book by the hour, the full-day chauffeur from US$665 in a business sedan, US$850 in a business SUV and US$1,325 in a Sprinter, or see wine tours.
A full day can also take in the beaches of the south and east, the south of the island towards Akrotiri, about 10 km (6 mi) from Fira, and an evening back on the caldera. See the packages page for every Santorini price.
Weddings, celebrations and corporate groups
Santorini's caldera venues host weddings and celebrations through the season, and the logistics are the same each time: guests spread across several hotels, venues reached by narrow lanes, and an evening timed to the sunset. A First Class Sedan carries the couple and an Executive Sprinter with driver carries guests where the road allows; see wedding transportation and group transportation. The chauffeur follows local rules on everything inside the vehicle.
For incentive groups and company retreats, the corporate roadshow day costs from US$810 in a business sedan, US$1,035 in a business SUV and US$1,620 in an Executive Sprinter, and a corporate account adds fixed fares in US$, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request; read more on corporate car service. Hotels and travel agents book guests on account through hotel accounts and travel agent accounts.
Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley, and every partner is licensed and commercially insured. See the fleet.
Leaving Santorini
For a flight, we usually suggest arriving at the terminal two hours before a flight to Athens or within Europe and three hours before a long-haul connection, and setting the pickup from your hotel's road entrance, not the cliff-side reception. From Oia, allow the full drive time and more in the evening. For a ferry, aim to reach Athinios an hour before departure, because the switchback road and the quay both slow down when a large boat is due.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a private transfer from Santorini airport to Oia?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Santorini airport to Fira, Oia and the caldera villages costs from US$135 in a business sedan to US$355 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Parking is billed at cost, and the fare does not change with traffic.
How long is the drive from Santorini airport to Oia?
About 19 km (12 mi), roughly 22 minutes on a clear road. Fira is closer, about 7 km (4 mi). In summer, allow 35 to 45 minutes to Oia from late afternoon, when the caldera road fills with sunset traffic.
Can the car pick us up at the Old Port from a cruise ship?
No car can reach the Old Port below Fira. Ride the cable car, about three minutes for €10 one way, or take the staircase, and the chauffeur meets you at the top in Fira. Give us the ship name and all-aboard time so the return allows for the cable car queue.
Will a chauffeur meet our ferry at Athinios?
Yes. Send the ferry operator and scheduled arrival. The chauffeur waits at the quay and the desk adjusts the pickup if the boat runs late. Athinios is about 8 km (5 mi) from Fira, up a switchback road that is slow when a large ferry docks.
Are taxis easy to find on Santorini?
Not always. The municipality notes that taxis are limited and waits can be long, with fixed fares on common routes. The KTEL bus is cheap for light travellers. For ferries, sunsets and families, a pre-booked car at a fixed price is the safer plan.
Are child seats available on Santorini?
Yes. Ask for child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. A Business SUV gives room for seats, strollers and luggage. If you are travelling with a stroller or extra bags, say so as well, and the desk confirms a vehicle with room for everything.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. A 10% fee applies at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds go to the original card.
