An airport car service is the simplest thing we book and the one that goes wrong most often when it is left to chance. The flight lands early or two hours late, the bags take forty minutes, the taxi line wraps around the curb, and the rideshare pickup zone is a shuttle ride away. Elly8.net removes the guesswork: you reserve an airport transfer at a fixed, all-in price, and the chauffeur tracks the flight and meets you inside arrivals with a name board.
The service runs at the main airports of 141 cities across the USA, Canada and Europe, and at the business-aviation terminals beside them. Prices are per vehicle, not per person, and include the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and the airport meet and greet. A business sedan from Lisbon or Warsaw airport starts at US$90, Heathrow to Mayfair is US$195, and JFK to Midtown Manhattan is US$210, with SUVs and Executive Sprinters priced on the same lists.
What does an airport car service with Elly8.net include?
Every airport transfer includes flight tracking, a licensed chauffeur waiting inside arrivals with a name board, complimentary waiting after a tracked landing, help with bags and a fixed all-in price per vehicle covering chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
The price you see is the price you pay. There is no surge at 6 pm on a Friday, no meter running in traffic on the Van Wyck or the M4, and no fuel surcharge added afterwards. If the flight is delayed, the chauffeur's timing moves with it, because the desk watches the actual landing rather than the scheduled one.
Child seats are available on request when you book, and the booking notes are read by a person: tell us about a folding wheelchair, a stroller, golf bags, skis or a pet carrier and we match the vehicle to it.
Airport transfer prices at the busiest airports
These are published fares from our city price lists, one way, per vehicle, all-in. Distances are routed road distances from the airport to the district each city page uses as its centre, with the clear-road drive time.
| Airport and destination | Distance | Clear-road drive | Business Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JFK to Midtown Manhattan | 18 mi (29 km) | 29 min | US$210 | US$550 |
| LaGuardia (LGA) to Midtown | 9 mi (14 km) | 17 min | US$145 | US$380 |
| Newark (EWR) to Midtown | 19 mi (31 km) | 34 min | US$215 | US$560 |
| LAX to Beverly Hills | 12 mi (20 km) | 22 min | US$170 | US$445 |
| O'Hare (ORD) to the Loop | 22 mi (35 km) | 56 min | US$215 | US$560 |
| Miami (MIA) to Miami Beach | 15 mi (24 km) | 30 min | US$180 | US$470 |
| Harry Reid (LAS) to the Strip | 9 mi (14 km) | 39 min | US$125 | US$325 |
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to downtown | 31 km (19 mi) | 31 min | US$155 | US$405 |
| Heathrow (LHR) to Mayfair | 26 km (16 mi) | 35 min | US$195 | US$510 |
| Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to the 8th | 29 km (18 mi) | 32 min | US$170 | US$445 |
Clear-road times are a floor, not a promise. O'Hare to the Loop at 5 pm on a weekday or Heathrow to Mayfair in the morning peak can take twice as long, which is exactly why a fixed price matters: the fare does not change when the traffic does. Round trips are priced together, for example JFK to Midtown and back from US$400 in a business sedan.
Every city page carries its own airport-by-airport fares, including secondary airports. In New York that means LaGuardia, Newark and Teterboro as well as JFK; in London it means Gatwick, Stansted, London City and Farnborough. Open the city and use its price panel, or see all prices and packages in one place.
How the pickup works at a big airport
Give us the flight number when you book. The desk follows the flight from departure, so a delay in Frankfurt or a diversion after a storm reaches your chauffeur before it reaches you. The chauffeur times the walk into the terminal to the real landing and waits in the public arrivals area, holding a board with the name you choose. Executives often ask for a company name or initials instead of their own name, and that is fine.
International arrivals take longer than domestic ones. Passport control, baggage reclaim and customs can add a long stretch at peak at JFK, Heathrow or Pearson, and the chauffeur expects that. Complimentary waiting starts after the tracked landing, not at the scheduled time, so you are never rushed through immigration by a clock. If you are held up beyond the included time, the extra waiting is billed at cost and the desk tells you before it happens.
Once you meet, the chauffeur takes the bags and walks you to the vehicle in the airport's designated pickup area. Some airports move pre-booked cars to specific lots or levels, and terminals get rebuilt: JFK, for example, is in the middle of a redevelopment programme with new terminals and changed roadways. The chauffeur works to the current arrangement, and the confirmation email tells you where to look. For the detail of that meeting, see airport meet and greet.
Choosing the vehicle by passengers and bags
The right vehicle depends more on luggage than on headcount. A sedan that seats three comfortably still only takes two full-size suitcases.
- Business Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6, Lincoln Continental or similar; in Europe an E-Class or BMW 5 Series): up to 3 passengers and 2 large bags. The default for one or two travellers.
- First Class Sedan (Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar): up to 3 passengers and 2 bags, with a quieter, roomier rear cabin for the arrival that matters.
- Business SUV or Van (Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon XL; in Europe a Mercedes-Benz V-Class): up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. The family car, and the right call for two people with four cases.
- First Class SUV (Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator; in Europe a V-Class VIP or Range Rover): up to 6 passengers and 6 bags.
- Executive Sprinter: up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. Teams, wedding parties and families travelling together.
Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer. If you are unsure, book the larger class: an SUV from JFK to Midtown is US$275, against US$210 for the sedan, and it removes the risk of a case on someone's lap. The fleet page shows interiors and luggage space for every class.
Getting to the airport on time
Departures are the other half of the service. When you book a ride to the airport, give the flight time and whether you are checking bags, and the desk suggests a pickup time based on the route and the hour, not on a clear-road estimate. For a weekday evening departure from JFK out of Midtown, we usually suggest leaving earlier than first-time visitors expect.
The chauffeur arrives before the pickup time and sends a message when outside. At the terminal you are dropped at the departures curb for your airline. Tolls on the way, such as tunnel and bridge tolls into and out of Manhattan, are billed at cost and listed on the receipt.
Private jets, FBOs and secondary airports
Many travellers who search for an airport car service are not flying commercial. Elly8.net meets business-aviation flights at the FBOs of Teterboro, Van Nuys, Paris-Le Bourget, Farnborough, Miami-Opa Locka and Henderson Executive, among others, and the chauffeur meets the aircraft where the FBO allows vehicle access. Teterboro to Midtown is US$170 in a business sedan; Le Bourget to the 8th arrondissement is US$135. See private jet and FBO car service for how those pickups are arranged.
Secondary commercial airports are often the faster choice: LaGuardia instead of JFK for a Midtown meeting, Midway instead of O'Hare for the Loop, London City for the City and Canary Wharf, Billy Bishop for downtown Toronto. The fares reflect the shorter drive, from US$95 at Billy Bishop to downtown Toronto and US$155 from London City to Mayfair.
Airport car service vs taxi, rideshare and the airport train
We would rather you choose well than choose us every time. For one person with a carry-on, off-peak, a train or a taxi is often the sensible answer. Here is how the options compare at three of the busiest airports, using figures published by the airports, the taxi regulator and the rail operators.
| Option | Price | Time to the centre | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elly8.net business sedan, JFK to Midtown | US$210 all-in, fixed | 29 min clear road; longer at peak | Late flights, bags, families, meetings, a known budget |
| NYC yellow taxi, JFK to Manhattan | US$70 flat fare plus surcharges, tolls and tip | Same roads, same traffic | One or two travellers who do not mind the taxi line |
| AirTrain JFK plus subway or LIRR | US$8.75 AirTrain fare plus the onward ticket | Varies with connections | Light luggage, daytime, tight budget |
| Heathrow Express to Paddington | from £10 booked ahead, £26 standard single | 15 min, trains every 15 min | Hotels near Paddington, light luggage |
| UP Express, Pearson to Union Station | See the operator's fare table | 28 min | Downtown Toronto hotels near Union Station |
| Rideshare | Dynamic pricing that rises at peak | Wait for a match at a designated zone | Short trips at quiet hours |
The NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission sets the US$70 JFK flat fare and lists the surcharges on top of it, including a rush-hour surcharge on weekday afternoons. The AirTrain JFK fare to Jamaica or Howard Beach is US$8.75. Heathrow Express runs every 15 minutes and reaches Paddington in 15 minutes, and UP Express links Pearson with Union Station in 28 minutes.
Where a pre-booked chauffeur wins is everything around the ride: arrivals at midnight when the trains thin out, three people with five cases, a child who needs a car seat, a client you are meeting off the flight, or a company that needs one invoice rather than a stack of receipts. For a fuller look, see chauffeur vs taxi, chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft and chauffeur vs shared airport shuttle.
How to book an airport transfer in three steps
- Enter the pickup and drop-off. For an arrival, add the airline and flight number; for a departure, add the flight time.
- Choose the vehicle by passengers and bags, and add child seats or notes for the chauffeur.
- Press Reserve now on the city's price list to pay by card, or use the web booker for any address not on a list. Confirmation arrives by email, with the chauffeur's details sent before pickup.
Cancellation is the same everywhere: more than 72 hours before pickup is free; 72 hours or less costs 10%; 48 hours or less costs 50%; 24 hours or less, or a no-show, costs 100%. Refunds go back to the original card. The full text is on the cancellation policy page.
Accounts for companies, travel agents and hotels
Airport runs are the backbone of most corporate car service programmes. A corporate account gives travel managers monthly invoicing, cost-centre references on every ride and one desk for every city, so an employee landing at O'Hare and another at Charles de Gaulle are booked the same way. Open a corporate account to set it up.
Travel agents can book clients' airport transfers through a travel agent account, and hotels can arrange guest arrivals through a hotel account. For the flights and hotels themselves, our travel partner BookingWorldwide.net handles the booking; Elly8.net books the car.
Who drives
In Toronto and the GTA, airport transfers run on the Elly8 fleet with Elly8 chauffeurs. In every other city, rides are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Elly8.net is a member of LWD, LAI, HWD and VWD.
Where airport transfers matter most
Every city page lists its own airports, distances and fares. These are the ones travellers ask us about most:
- JFK, LaGuardia and Newark car service in New York, with Teterboro for private flights.
- LAX car service in Los Angeles, plus Burbank, Van Nuys and John Wayne.
- O'Hare and Midway transfers in Chicago.
- Miami airport car service to Miami Beach, with Fort Lauderdale and Opa-locka.
- Harry Reid airport to the Strip in Las Vegas.
- Dulles, Reagan National and BWI in Washington, DC.
- SFO and Oakland in San Francisco and Boston Logan transfers.
- Toronto Pearson limo service, plus Billy Bishop, and Vancouver airport transfers.
- Heathrow, Gatwick and City airport transfers in London.
- Charles de Gaulle and Orly transfers in Paris, Rome Fiumicino and Zurich airport.
If a long airport run is part of a bigger trip, such as an Aspen arrival through Denver or Whistler from Vancouver, see city to city car service, and for a group too large for one Sprinter, group transportation.
Frequently asked questions
How much is an airport car service?
Published one-way fares start at US$90 in a business sedan at Lisbon and Warsaw; JFK to Midtown Manhattan is US$210 and O'Hare to the Loop US$215. Executive Sprinters run from US$235 at Lisbon to US$560 from O'Hare or Newark on the main city routes. Each price is per vehicle and all-in: chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
What happens if the flight is delayed?
Nothing you need to do. The desk tracks the flight number you gave us and moves the chauffeur's timing to the actual landing. Complimentary waiting starts after the tracked landing, so a delay in the air does not cost you anything. If you are held at immigration or baggage reclaim beyond the included time, extra waiting is billed at cost and we tell you first.
Where does the chauffeur meet arriving passengers?
Inside the public arrivals area, after customs for international flights, holding a name board with the name you choose. Some airports direct pre-booked cars to a set pickup level or lot, and the chauffeur walks you there with your bags. The confirmation email and the chauffeur's message before landing give the exact meeting point for your terminal.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Add the child seat in the booking and note the child's age or weight so the right seat is fitted before pickup. Child seats are provided on request, and for families with several children and luggage we usually suggest a Business SUV, which seats up to six with six bags.
How far ahead should an airport transfer be booked?
As early as you know the flight. A week or more ahead is comfortable in most cities; during big conventions, holiday weekends or major events, book as soon as dates are firm, because SUVs and Sprinters go first. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, so booking early carries little risk.
What is the cancellation policy?
More than 72 hours before pickup, cancellation is free. Within 72 hours the charge is 10%, within 48 hours 50%, and within 24 hours or for a no-show 100%. Refunds go back to the original card. If a flight is cancelled, contact the desk and we will move the booking where we can.
Can a company pay for airport rides on an account?
Yes. Corporate accounts get monthly invoicing, cost-centre or project references on each ride, and one booking process for every city we serve. Travel agents and hotels have their own accounts for booking clients and guests. Sign up through the partners pages and the desk sets the account up.
Is a taxi or the train ever the better choice?
Yes. One traveller with a carry-on at a quiet hour may be well served by the AirTrain at JFK, the Heathrow Express or the UP Express in Toronto. A pre-booked chauffeur is the better choice for late arrivals, groups with bags, children who need car seats, meetings straight from the plane and anyone who needs the cost fixed in advance.
