Prom is usually the first time a group of teenagers rides in a chauffeured car without a parent on board, and the parent paying for it wants three things: the car turns up, the driver is a professional, and the night goes to the plan that everyone agreed. Elly8.net books prom and graduation cars in 141 cities across the USA, Canada and Europe, with the plan written into the reservation before anyone gets dressed.
We price prom the way it actually runs: by time. Most proms fit inside our five-hour Evening out & event night block, which in most North American cities starts at US$475 to US$550 in a business sedan and reaches US$950 to US$1,100 in a 12-seat Executive Sprinter. Stretch limousines, stretch SUVs and party buses are priced in the web booker for your exact addresses and hours. Every price is all-in: chauffeur, vehicle, taxes and standard gratuity included.
How much is a limo for prom?
A five-hour prom block on Elly8.net costs from US$475 in a business sedan in cities such as Nashville and Las Vegas, US$500 in Chicago or Miami, US$525 in New York or Los Angeles and US$550 in Toronto. A 12-seat Executive Sprinter runs US$950 to US$1,100 for the same five hours. Split between twelve students, that is under US$100 each.
The per-person maths is why groups book together. One Executive Sprinter for a group of twelve in Chicago is US$1,000 for five hours, or about US$83 a head, with the gratuity already included. A group of six in a Business SUV in New York pays US$675 for the five-hour block, about US$113 each.
| City | 5-hour block, Business Sedan (up to 3) | Business SUV (up to 6) | Executive Sprinter (up to 12) | Extra hours, sedan to Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New York City | US$525 | US$675 | US$1,050 | US$105 to US$210 |
| Los Angeles | US$525 | US$675 | US$1,050 | US$105 to US$210 |
| Chicago | US$500 | US$625 | US$1,000 | US$100 to US$200 |
| Miami | US$500 | US$625 | US$1,000 | US$100 to US$200 |
| Nashville | US$475 | US$600 | US$950 | US$95 to US$190 |
| Las Vegas | US$475 | US$600 | US$950 | US$95 to US$190 |
| Toronto | US$550 | US$700 | US$1,100 | US$110 to US$220 |
Prices are US dollars per vehicle. Tolls, parking and time beyond the booked block are billed at cost. If the group wants a stretch limousine (up to 8), a stretch SUV limousine (up to 16) or a party bus, price those in the web booker; they are not on the fixed city price lists.
The parents' safety checklist
Print this, or forward it to the other parents in the group. It is the list our desk works through when a parent calls.
- Who operates the car? In Toronto and the GTA, Elly8.net prom cars are the Elly8 fleet with our own chauffeurs. Everywhere else, rides are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
- Is the operator licensed where you live? Licensing is local. In New York City the Taxi and Limousine Commission licenses drivers, bases and for-hire vehicles; in California the Public Utilities Commission grants passenger carriers their operating authority. Larger buses that cross state lines carry a USDOT number you can look up yourself on the federal FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot. We only book partners holding the licence their city requires.
- How old is the vehicle? Partner vehicles on Elly8.net are four model years or newer (seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley).
- What exactly is the plan? Every pickup address, the photo stop, the venue, the after-party if there is one, and every drop-off home, in order, with times. Stops not on the plan are a conversation with the parent who booked, not a decision made in the back seat.
- Who is the contact? Put a parent's mobile number on the reservation. The confirmation goes to the booker by email, and the chauffeur's name and number follow before the night.
- What about alcohol? None in the vehicle. The chauffeur follows local law and the reservation, and both say no alcohol for passengers under the legal drinking age.
- What happens at the end? The last stop should be a home address or one agreed host house, not "wherever we end up". We ask the chauffeur to wait until each student is at the door.
- What if the plan changes? Changes go through the parent who booked, by calling the 24/7 desk. Extra time is billed at cost at the hourly rate.
School prom rules to check before you book
Schools and prom venues often have their own rules, and they vary from school to school. Ask the school, or read the prom permission form, before the group agrees on a vehicle. The common questions are:
- Arrival and drop-off: where vehicles may stop at the venue and at what time doors open. Some venues have a single loading zone and a queue of cars; the chauffeur needs to know the entrance.
- Leaving early: many schools do not allow students to leave and re-enter. If that is the rule, the car's job is arrival and the ride home, and you can book the five-hour block to cover photos, the arrival and a wait, or two separate trips.
- Vehicle type: some schools discourage party buses or require parents to sign off on transport. A sedan, SUV or Executive Sprinter is a calm, practical choice that satisfies most permission forms.
- After-prom: if the school or parents run an after-prom event, add it to the plan as its own stop.
We are glad to email the itinerary and the operator details to a school or a host parent if the permission form asks for them.
Which vehicle for which prom group
Choose by the number of students and how formal the night is.
| Vehicle | Students | Why groups choose it | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business or First Class Sedan | up to 3 | a couple, or two couples squeezed; quiet and formal | city price list and booker |
| Business or First Class SUV | up to 6 | the most popular small-group choice; room for dresses | city price list and booker |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | the best value per head; high roof, easy in and out | city price list and booker |
| Stretch Limousine | up to 8 | the classic prom photo | web booker |
| Stretch SUV Limousine | up to 16 | big groups who want the stretch look | web booker |
| Party Bus | up to 12 | graduations and big celebrations; check school rules | web booker |
Long dresses and stretch limousines are a known combination: low doors, low seats. For groups with formal gowns, the Executive Sprinter or a First Class SUV is easier to get in and out of all night, and photographers like the step and the high door. See every class on the fleet page and our notes on black car vs limousine. If the group wants a bus, read party bus rental with a driver first.
A typical prom-night plan
Here is a pattern that works in most cities, using the five-hour block.
- 5:30 p.m. First pickup at the first student's home. Each further pickup adds about 10 to 15 minutes in a suburb.
- 6:15 p.m. Photo stop at a park, a hotel lobby or the waterfront. Parents meet the group here.
- 7:00 p.m. Arrival at the venue. The chauffeur parks or waits nearby.
- 10:30 p.m. Pickup at the venue entrance.
- 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. Drop-offs at each home, in an order agreed in advance, or one drop at the after-prom.
That plan is about six hours from first pickup to last drop, so either book six hours by the hour or book the five-hour block and add one hour. In Toronto six hours in an Executive Sprinter is US$1,320 by the hour (US$220 x 6); in Chicago it is US$1,200; in Nashville US$1,140. Two separate trips, arrival and home, can cost less when the venue is close to home and the school does not allow leaving early; the web booker prices each leg.
Graduation, homecoming and formals
The same rules apply to graduation dinners, homecoming, school formals and sweet sixteens. Graduation is often a family event rather than a student one: grandparents arrive from the airport, the family needs a car to the ceremony and dinner afterwards, and an SUV or Sprinter for the whole family is easier than three cars and a parking search. Book the airport transfers for arriving family with flight numbers, and the ceremony day by the hour.
University graduations in cities such as Boston, New York and Montreal fill hotels and road closures around campus; book the car early and tell us the ceremony venue so the chauffeur plans the approach.
Elly8.net vs rideshare, a parent's car or a cheaper limo
A parent driving is free and many families do exactly that. It works well for a couple going to a nearby venue. It is harder when twelve students in formal clothes need picking up from six homes.
Rideshare is not reserved for the night and does not wait between stops. A group of twelve would need three or more cars arriving at different times, at peak-hour prices on a busy Saturday. It also leaves a parent arranging and paying for every leg from a phone.
A cheaper local limousine may be a fine choice. Ask it the same checklist questions: licence, insurance, vehicle age, a written itinerary and a no-alcohol policy. If any answer is vague, keep looking.
A pre-booked Elly8.net chauffeur wins on the things parents care about: a written plan, a fixed price including the gratuity, a professional chauffeur who waits, a 24/7 desk, and a free cancellation window if prom plans change. More comparisons are in chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft and how much does a limo cost.
How booking works
- Enter the first pickup and the venue, or choose "by the hour" and list every stop in order.
- Choose the vehicle for the size of the group, from a sedan to a 12-seat Executive Sprinter, or price a stretch or party bus in the web booker.
- Reserve now and pay by card. The confirmation arrives by email; the chauffeur's details follow before the night.
Groups often split the cost between families. The simplest approach is for one parent to book and pay, and to collect shares from the other families. Schools and parent associations organising transport for a whole grade can call the desk to plan several vehicles, and companies paying for staff graduation events can use a corporate account.
The cancellation policy is the same for every booking: more than 72 hours before pickup, free; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less, or a no-show, 100%. Refunds go to the original card. See the cancellation policy.

Frequently asked questions
How far ahead should we book a prom limo?
As soon as the prom date is set. Prom season concentrates demand on a handful of spring Fridays and Saturdays, and stretch limousines and Sprinters go first. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, so there is no cost to booking early and adjusting the group size or addresses later.
Is alcohol allowed in a prom limo?
No. Elly8.net prom reservations are no-alcohol bookings, and the chauffeur follows local law, which forbids serving or carrying alcohol for passengers under the legal drinking age. If there is a problem on the night, the chauffeur contacts the parent on the reservation and the desk. Parents should say this clearly to the group before the night.
Can parents track the plan on the night?
Parents get the full itinerary in the confirmation email, and the chauffeur's name and number before pickup. The parent who booked can call the 24/7 desk at any time to check where the car is in the plan, change a time or add an hour. Changes are billed at cost only if the hours grow.
How many students fit in a prom limo?
A stretch limousine seats up to 8, a stretch SUV limousine up to 16, an Executive Sprinter up to 12, an SUV up to 6 and a sedan up to 3. Formal dresses take space, so for a full group in long gowns choose the larger vehicle rather than filling every seat.
Is the tip included in the prom price?
Yes. Every Elly8.net price includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes and a standard gratuity, so the families splitting the cost know the full number in advance. Tolls, parking and time beyond the booked block are billed at cost. Any extra tip on the night is optional.
What if prom is cancelled or the group changes?
More than 72 hours before pickup, cancellation is free and refunded to the original card. Inside 72 hours the policy is 10%, inside 48 hours 50%, and inside 24 hours or for a no-show 100%. Changing from a Sprinter to an SUV for a smaller group is a simple rebooking while the policy window is free.
Can a student book the car?
We recommend that a parent or guardian books and pays, and that their mobile number is the contact on the reservation. That way the itinerary, any changes and the end-of-night drop-offs are agreed with an adult, and the chauffeur knows exactly whom to call.
Do you book proms outside big cities?
Yes, if the homes and the venue are reachable from one of our 141 cities, including suburbs such as Mississauga, Westchester or Orange County. Enter the addresses in the web booker for a fixed price, or call the desk to plan several vehicles for a whole school.
