A Rome car service booked through Elly8.net is a private chauffeur at a fixed, all-in price agreed before you fly, charged to your card in US dollars. Fiumicino (FCO) to the historic centre starts at US$180 in a business sedan and runs to US$470 in an Executive Sprinter; Ciampino (CIA) starts at US$125. Your chauffeur tracks the flight and waits inside arrivals with a name board.
Rides in Rome are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. This page covers the two airports and where you are met, the limited traffic zones that shape every drop-off in the centre, cruise transfers to Civitavecchia, Vatican mornings, the events that close Roman streets in 2026 and 2027, and an honest comparison with the Leonardo Express and Rome's flat-fare taxis.
How much is a car service from Fiumicino to central Rome?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Fiumicino (FCO) to Rome's historic centre costs from US$180 in a business sedan, US$235 in a business SUV and US$470 in an Executive Sprinter. The price is per vehicle and includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet in arrivals. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
The historic centre is our reference point because it holds the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps and most of the hotels North American visitors book, but the same fares cover addresses across central Rome, including Prati near the Vatican and Trastevere. A round trip from FCO costs from US$345 in a business sedan to US$895 in a Sprinter.
Fiumicino is about 34 km (21 mi) from the centre, roughly 54 minutes on a clear road. The motorway into the city, the ring road and the Lungotevere along the Tiber all slow sharply at commuter hours, and an early-morning arrival from New York or Toronto often lands straight into that traffic. Your fare does not change.
Rome's airports: Fiumicino and Ciampino
| Airport | Distance to the centre | Clear-road drive | Business Sedan | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fiumicino (FCO) | 34 km / 21 mi | about 54 min | from US$180 | US$315 | US$470 |
| Ciampino (CIA) | 18 km / 11 mi | about 30 min | from US$125 | US$220 | US$325 |
Fiumicino (FCO). Nonstop flights from North America land at Leonardo da Vinci Airport, which works mainly through two passenger terminals. Aeroporti di Roma assigns Terminal 3 to extra-Schengen and intercontinental flights, so that is where arrivals from the United States and Canada usually come out, while Terminal 1 handles domestic and Schengen flights, including connections via other European hubs. Give us your flight number: the chauffeur watches the landing, checks which terminal your flight uses and stands in the arrivals hall with your name once you are through passport control and baggage claim. Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, which matters when several transatlantic flights land within the same hour. Book a Fiumicino airport transfer at the fixed fare, and read how the hand-over works on airport meet and greet.
Ciampino (CIA). Rome's second airport, south-east of the city, handles mostly European short-haul flights. It is the closer of the two: transfers to the centre cost from US$125 in a business sedan, US$165 in a business SUV and US$325 in a Sprinter, with round trips from US$240. If you arrive by private jet at either airport, the chauffeur meets you at the handler's terminal; see private jet and FBO transfers.
Limited traffic zones: where cars can and cannot go
Rome's centre is ringed by limited traffic zones, the ZTL. According to Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, access to the city's five ZTLs is reserved for authorised vehicles carrying a permit, on set days and at set hours. The daytime ZTL Centro Storico is closed to unauthorised vehicles from 6.30 to 18.00 Monday to Friday and from 14.00 to 18.00 on Saturday, excluding public holidays. A night ZTL applies from 23.00 to 3.00 on Friday and Saturday nights, except in August. The Tridente around Via del Corso, Via del Babuino and Via Condotti has its own, longer hours: 6.30 to 19.00 on weekdays and 10.00 to 19.00 on Saturdays.
Entry is controlled by electronic gates with cameras, and drivers who pass an active gate without authorisation are sanctioned. The same page lists the exemptions: taxis and licensed hire cars with driver (NCC) are exempt from the ZTL Centro Storico and the Tridente rules. In practice that means a licensed chauffeur can take you to the door of a hotel inside the zone, within the usual limits of pedestrian streets, narrow lanes and hotel kerbs, where a self-drive car cannot.
Some addresses are genuinely car-free: much of Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain square, Piazza di Spagna at the foot of the Spanish Steps, and stretches around the Pantheon. For those, your chauffeur stops at the nearest permitted point, usually a short walk away, and helps with bags. Tell us the exact hotel when you book and the partner plans the approach.
Civitavecchia cruise transfers
Most Mediterranean cruises that start or end in "Rome" use the port of Civitavecchia, about 71 km (44 mi) north-west of the centre by road, roughly 67 minutes on a clear road. From Fiumicino it is about 67 km (41 mi), around 52 minutes. The Port Network Authority says the port operates five cruise terminals, run by Roma Cruise Terminal, including the large Terminal Amerigo Vespucci.
Civitavecchia is not on our fixed price list, so request it through the web booker with your ship, terminal if known and the time you need to be on board; the desk returns a fixed fare and your card is charged in US$. A Business SUV takes four passengers and cruise-length luggage; an Executive Sprinter carries a family group and every suitcase in one vehicle. On embarkation day, book a pickup that leaves margin for the motorway and the port queue. On disembarkation day, the chauffeur meets you at the terminal and can drive straight to Fiumicino for a same-day flight or into Rome for a hotel stay. More on cruise port transfers.
The Vatican, Prati and the historic centre
Vatican Museums and St Peter's. The Vatican Museums open Monday to Saturday from 8.00 to 20.00, with final entry at 18.00, and on the last Sunday of each month from 9.00 to 14.00. The entrance is on Viale Vaticano, which is where your chauffeur drops you for a timed ticket or an early-entry tour; St Peter's Basilica and its square are a walk away, reached from Via della Conciliazione. Because ticket slots are fixed, an hourly booking that drops you on Viale Vaticano and collects you after the Basilica works well. The Museums are about 4 km (2 mi) from the centre, roughly 10 minutes without traffic.
Prati. The grid of streets north of the Vatican holds many mid-size and boutique hotels and the law courts, with simpler kerbside access than the lanes across the river.
Termini. Rome's main station is where high-speed trains from Florence, Milan, Venice and Naples arrive. Book train station transfers if you are travelling on to our Florence chauffeur service or down to the Amalfi Coast; a door-to-door car is the other way to make those journeys, see city to city car service.
Rome events in 2026 and 2027
Roman roads close for state ceremonies, papal liturgies and sport. These are confirmed next editions after October 2026.
- Christmas at the Vatican, 24 to 25 December 2026. Midnight Mass and the Christmas Day blessing bring security screening and closures around St Peter's Square and Via della Conciliazione; details from the Holy See. Book late-night pickups from Borgo or Prati rather than from the square itself.
- Holy Week and Easter 2027, 21 to 28 March 2027. Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday fill St Peter's Square, and the Good Friday Way of the Cross at the Colosseum closes the area that evening.
- Internazionali BNL d'Italia, 27 April to 16 May 2027. The Italian Open is at the Foro Italico by the Tiber in north Rome, per Turismo Roma. Evening sessions end late and the Lungotevere is slow; an hourly car waits for you rather than leaving you to find a taxi at the gate.
- Festa della Repubblica, 2 June 2027. The national day parade on Via dei Fori Imperiali, presided over by the President of the Republic, closes Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum area from early morning.
Football at the Stadio Olimpico and summer concerts create the same exit crush. See sports event transportation and event transportation. The evening out and event night package costs from US$425 in a business sedan to US$850 in a Sprinter.
Tivoli, the Appian Way and other days out
The signature Rome day trip is 6 hours to Tivoli for Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa. Tivoli is about 33 km (21 mi) east of the centre, roughly 41 minutes on a clear road, and the two villas, both run by Villae, are a short drive apart, which is exactly why a car makes sense: Renaissance fountains in the morning, the emperor's ruins after lunch, back in Rome by late afternoon. It costs from US$470 in a business sedan, US$610 in a business SUV, US$775 in a First Class Sedan and US$940 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in.
The private city highlights tour costs from US$340 in a business sedan to US$680 in a Sprinter, covering the Colosseum, the Forum viewpoints, the Gianicolo terrace and the Aventine with stops where you want them. For Ostia Antica, the Castelli Romani wine towns, Orvieto or a long day to Pompeii, book a full-day chauffeur from US$630 in a business sedan to US$1,255 in a Sprinter. To set your own pace inside the city, book Rome car service by the hour: US$85 an hour in a business sedan, US$110 in a business SUV, US$140 in a First Class Sedan and US$170 in a Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. Leonardo Express, taxi, rideshare or a pre-booked chauffeur
Rome's public options from the airports are good, and for some trips they are the right choice. Trenitalia runs the Leonardo Express nonstop between Fiumicino and Roma Termini in 32 minutes, every 15 minutes, for €14; four tickets bought together cost €40. Aeroporti di Roma lists first and last departures from the airport at 05:38 and 23:27. Rome's licensed taxis charge fixed fares set by the city: according to Roma Mobilità, €55 per car from Fiumicino to anywhere inside the Aurelian Walls and €40 per car from Ciampino, supplements included. From Fiumicino to Civitavecchia port, the fixed taxi fare is €130.
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leonardo Express to Termini | €14 per person | 32 min train, plus onward trip from Termini | Solo travellers with light bags staying near Termini |
| Licensed taxi from the FCO rank | €55 fixed per car inside the Aurelian Walls | Same roads as any car | Spontaneous trips, no booking |
| Licensed taxi from the CIA rank | €40 fixed per car inside the Aurelian Walls | Same roads as any car | Short-haul arrivals |
| Rideshare app | Varies with demand | Pickup at the airport's designated area | Light travellers comfortable with apps |
| Elly8.net business sedan from FCO | US$180 fixed, per vehicle | Door to door, ZTL-exempt licensed car | Families, groups, late arrivals, executives, fixed budgets |
The trade-off is straightforward. The train is fast and cheap, but it ends at Termini, and most historic-centre hotels are a taxi, a metro ride or a long walk on cobbles beyond that. For one person with a carry-on staying near the station, the train wins. A Roman taxi at the fixed fare is honest value for two people with no special needs; the cost is the queue at the rank when several long-haul flights land together, and a sedan's limited boot.
A pre-booked chauffeur wins on everything around the ride: a name board inside Terminal 3 instead of a queue, child seats already fitted, a Business SUV for four large cases, a Sprinter for a family of seven, a licensed car that can reach a hotel inside the ZTL, and a price fixed weeks ahead in your own currency. Corporate travel, weddings and groups
Rome is a city of ministries, embassies, religious institutions and Italian corporate headquarters, and visiting teams move between them on tight schedules. The corporate roadshow day costs from US$765 in a business sedan to US$1,530 in a Sprinter, with the car held between meetings in the centre, Parioli and EUR. A corporate account adds fixed fares at both airports, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request. See corporate car service and, for delegations, government and diplomatic transportation.
Destination weddings in Rome, Tivoli and the Castelli Romani use a First Class Sedan for the couple and an Executive Sprinter with driver for guests; see wedding transportation. Travel agents and hotel concierges book on account through travel agent accounts and hotel accounts. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley; the fleet page shows seats and luggage by class.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from Fiumicino to Rome?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Fiumicino (FCO) to the historic centre costs from US$180 in a business sedan, US$235 in a business SUV, US$315 in a First Class Sedan and US$470 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Where does the chauffeur meet me at Fiumicino?
In the arrivals hall of your terminal, holding a name board, once you have cleared passport control and collected your bags. Flights from the United States and Canada normally use Terminal 3. The chauffeur tracks your flight number, so a changed landing time or terminal is handled automatically.
Can a chauffeur drive into Rome's ZTL?
Yes. Roma Mobilità lists taxis and licensed hire cars with driver (NCC) among the vehicles exempt from the ZTL Centro Storico and Tridente rules, so your licensed chauffeur can reach hotels inside the zone. Pedestrian squares such as Piazza Navona remain car-free, and there the chauffeur stops at the nearest permitted point.
Is the Leonardo Express cheaper than a car?
For one person, yes: it costs €14 and takes 32 minutes to Termini. For two or more travellers with luggage heading to a hotel in the historic centre, a fixed US$180 car door to door is closer in cost than it looks and avoids the onward trip from Termini.
Do you do Civitavecchia cruise transfers?
Yes. Civitavecchia is about 71 km (44 mi) from central Rome and about 67 km (41 mi) from Fiumicino. Request it through the web booker with your ship and boarding time; the desk returns a fixed price in US$. A Business SUV or Executive Sprinter carries cruise luggage comfortably.
Are child seats available in Rome?
Yes. Ask for child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. A Business SUV or Executive Sprinter gives a family room for seats, a stroller and transatlantic luggage in one vehicle.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less a 10% fee applies, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds return to the original card.
Do you offer corporate accounts for Rome?
Yes. Corporate accounts include fixed fares at Fiumicino and Ciampino, roadshow days across the centre, Parioli and EUR, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request. The same account books Milan, Florence, Venice and our other cities in Europe and North America.
