The 111th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge is scheduled for Sunday, May 30, 2027, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the town of Speedway, Indiana. The Speedway lists the wider event period as May 18 to 30, 2027: weekday practice from May 18 to 21 and on May 24, Armed Forces Qualifying Weekend on May 22 and 23, Miller Lite Carb Day on Friday, May 28, and Legends Day on Saturday, May 29, all on the Speedway's future schedule.
Race day is the one day of the year when the short trip from downtown Indianapolis to the Speedway, about 5 miles (9 km), becomes the hardest drive in the state. One of the biggest crowds in sport arrives in the same morning window, lots are sold in advance, and the streets around the track close and reverse. Elly8.net plans Indy 500 transportation around those rules: a fixed-price car from Indianapolis International (IND), a race-day chauffeur who knows where a car can and cannot go, and the rest of the week covered by the hour. Prices on our list do not change for race week.
How do you get to the Indy 500 by car service on race day?
Pre-book the car and the plan together. The Speedway says race-day parking is pre-purchased only and fans should reach the gate nearest their seats before 10 a.m. A chauffeur can use a parking pass you hold for the vehicle, or drop you early and collect you at an agreed point after the outbound traffic eases.
The Speedway's directions and traffic patterns page sets out the rules that shape every race-day plan. In its most recent race-day plan, closures began at about 11 a.m. between 16th Street and Olin Avenue, with Polco Street closed to northbound traffic from 10th Street. After the checkered flag, public safety officials direct exiting vehicles along set routes to the freeways, and the Speedway warns that vehicles can be held in lots for upwards of two hours while pedestrians clear.
That is why a race-day car is a timing exercise, not just a ride. We set the pickup at your hotel so that you are through the gate before 10 a.m., and we agree the return in advance: either the chauffeur stays with the vehicle in the lot named on your parking pass, or the car meets you at a set point once the first wave of traffic has gone. The 2027 traffic plan will be published by the Speedway closer to the race, and we follow it.

Distances: IND, downtown and the Speedway
| Route | Distance | Clear-road drive | Race-day note |
|---|---|---|---|
| IND airport to downtown Indianapolis | 14 mi (23 km) | about 27 min | Fixed fare on the price list |
| Downtown Indianapolis to the Speedway | about 5 mi (9 km) | about 15 min | Allow far longer on race morning |
| IND airport to the Speedway | about 13 mi (22 km) | about 27 min | Priced in the web booker |
Most race visitors stay downtown, where the Indiana Convention Center says about 7,100 hotel rooms sit within the core, or in the hotels near the airport and along I-465. A few stay in the town of Speedway itself. Whatever the base, give the desk the hotel address and your seat or parking gate, and the pickup time is set from there.
Flying in for race week
Indianapolis International (IND) is the arrival airport for nearly every out-of-state fan, and race week is its busiest week of the year. The fare from IND to downtown is fixed: US$160 in a business sedan, US$210 in a business SUV, US$260 in a First Class SUV, US$280 in a First Class sedan and US$420 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in per vehicle. A round trip covering arrival and departure starts at US$305 in a business sedan and runs to US$800 in a Sprinter.
Your chauffeur tracks the flight and meets you inside arrivals with a name board, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. For comparison, the airport sends Uber and Lyft riders to the Ground Transportation Center on the first floor of the Terminal Garage, as described on IND's rideshare page. Read how airport transfers and meet and greet work, and for private aircraft arriving for the race, see private jet and FBO transfers.
Race-day and race-week prices
The Speedway is outside the airport price list, so race day is booked by the hour or priced address to address in the web booker. The Indianapolis rates, per vehicle and all-in:
| Package | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class SUV | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| By the hour, as directed (3-hour minimum) | US$95 per hour | US$120 per hour | US$145 per hour | US$190 per hour |
| Evening out & event night (5 hours) | US$475 | US$600 | US$725 | US$950 |
| Full-day chauffeur (8 hours) | US$700 | US$885 | US$1,070 | US$1,400 |
| Corporate roadshow day (10 hours) | US$855 | US$1,080 | US$1,305 | US$1,710 |
Race day usually fits the 10-hour day: an early hotel pickup, the race itself, the long post-race hold and the drive back. The Corporate roadshow day, from US$855 in a business sedan to US$1,710 in an Executive Sprinter, is the right size for most hospitality groups. Prices include the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet; any vehicle parking pass, tolls and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
Carb Day and Legends Day are different: shorter, more flexible days when a few hours by the hour, with the 3-hour minimum, is often enough. For qualifying weekend, a car on standby lets you leave when the session you came for is over. See hourly chauffeur service and sports event transportation for how standby bookings work.
Race week books out early. Partner capacity in Indianapolis is finite and May is the busiest month on its calendar, so reserve as soon as your tickets and parking are confirmed. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup.
Hospitality groups, sponsors and teams
The Indianapolis 500 is a corporate event as much as a race: suites, hospitality chalets, sponsor guests and team partners. Moving a group together is where pre-booking pays off. An Executive Sprinter seats up to 12 passengers and costs US$190 per hour in Indianapolis, and the whole group arrives, waits and leaves together rather than spreading across a dozen app rides with a two-hour hold at the end. Larger parties book several vehicles under one reference; see group transportation and Sprinter van with driver.
A corporate account puts every ride on one monthly invoice with a reference per guest, and agencies selling race packages can book through travel-agent accounts. Our corporate car service covers the meetings and dealer visits that fill the days before the race. For drivers' families and VIP guests, the desk can sign an NDA on request. Elly8.net provides transportation, not security; protective details should be arranged separately.
The honest alternatives
The Speedway publishes several ways to reach the race, and some of them are the right answer for some fans.
| Option | What it involves | Best for | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Race Day Shuttle | School-bus shuttles from IND (1904 S High School Road) or downtown (402 Kentucky Avenue); shuttle pass required, US$20 per vehicle parking at the pickup lot | Fans who want a fixed timetable | Shuttles run 7:00 a.m. to about green flag; returns from 50 laps to go |
| Rideshare (Uber, Lyft) | Race-day zone at the corner of 10th and Polco | Solo fans, short notice | Surge pricing and long waits after the race |
| Taxi | Drop-off at 10th and Polco; pickup there only after the race ends | One-way trips | Queues at the end |
| Bike to the 500 | Police-escorted ride from the AMP at 16 Tech; bike parking outside Gates 1, 6 and 9 | Cyclists | Weather, and bikes are not allowed inside |
| Elly8.net chauffeur | From US$95 per hour, fixed | Families, groups, hospitality guests | Book early; needs a parking or meeting plan |
All of the shuttle, rideshare, taxi and bike details come from the Speedway's transportation services page; the Speedway notes that shuttle passes are required for everyone, regardless of age. For one or two fans with no bags, the shuttle is honest value. A chauffeur wins for families with children, guests with mobility needs, groups that want to stay together, anyone hosting clients, and anyone who would rather not stand in a rideshare queue after a long, hot day. There is no surge on a fixed price. Compare the options on chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft and chauffeur vs taxi.
At the airport, IndyGo's Route 8 runs from IND to downtown, and the airport notes that IndyGo day passes for all fixed routes are US$6; taxis carry a US$20 minimum from IND, according to the airport's scheduled bus service page and taxi information.
The rest of race week
Indianapolis fills the week with dinners on Massachusetts Avenue, receptions downtown and sponsor events. The evening out and event night package, from US$475 for five hours in a business sedan, keeps a car with you between stops. The Private city highlights tour, from US$380, takes in Monument Circle, the Canal Walk and the Speedway museum; Visit Indy lists what is on during May. Everything is on the Indianapolis car service page.
Many fans drive in from nearby cities, and Elly8.net covers them too: Louisville, Cincinnati, Chicago, Columbus and Nashville. For a one-way ride between cities, see city-to-city car service. Flights and hotels can be booked through our travel partner BookingWorldwide.net; Elly8.net books the car.
How booking works
Rides in Indianapolis are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, and seven or newer for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley. Elly8.net is a member of LWD, LAI, HWD and VWD: LimousineWorldwide.Directory, LimousineAssociation.International, HotelsWorldwide.Directory and VacationsWorldwide.Directory.

Frequently asked questions
When is the 2027 Indianapolis 500?
The 111th Running is on Sunday, May 30, 2027, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The event period runs May 18 to 30, with qualifying on May 22 and 23, Carb Day on Friday, May 28, and Legends Day on Saturday, May 29, according to the Speedway.
Can a chauffeur drop me at the Speedway gate?
Not directly at the gate on race day. Roads around the Speedway close from late morning and parking is pre-purchased only. The chauffeur either drives into the lot on a parking pass you hold for the vehicle, or drops you before the closures and meets you at a set point afterwards. Tell the desk your seat gate and any parking pass when you book.
How much is a car service for the Indy 500?
Race day is booked by the hour, from US$95 per hour in a business sedan to US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, or as a 10-hour Corporate roadshow day from US$855. IND to downtown is a fixed US$160 in a business sedan. Parking passes, tolls and extra waiting are billed at cost, and prices do not rise for race week.
How long after the race will we leave?
The Speedway warns that vehicles can be held in lots for upwards of two hours after the race while pedestrians clear. Plan for that: either stay for the post-race atmosphere and leave later, or arrange a meeting point outside the main flow. Your chauffeur waits, and the time is covered by your hourly booking.
Is the Race Day Shuttle a better option?
For one or two fans with light bags, it can be. Shuttles run from IND and downtown lots, with a shuttle pass required and US$20 per vehicle to park at the pickup lot. Returns start with 50 laps to go. A chauffeur suits families, groups, hospitality guests and anyone who wants door-to-door service.
Can you move a hospitality group of 20?
Yes. Two Executive Sprinters, each seating up to 12 passengers, move a group of 20 together at US$190 per hour per vehicle. They book under one reference, and corporate accounts get one monthly invoice with a reference per guest. Book early: May is the busiest month for cars in Indianapolis.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 72 hours before pickup and it is free. At 72 hours or less the fee is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or a no-show, 100%. Refunds go to the original card.
