An Amalfi Coast car service booked through Elly8.net is a private driver at a fixed, all-in price set before you fly, charged to your card in US dollars. Naples International Airport (NAP) to Positano starts at US$280 in a business sedan and runs to US$730 in an Executive Sprinter. The chauffeur tracks your flight and waits in arrivals with a name board.
Rides on the Amalfi Coast and in Naples are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. The coast is a place where the driver matters more than the car: one road, cut into the cliffs, with seasonal rules on who may use it. This page explains the drive from Naples, the alternating-plate ordinance and why a licensed chauffeur is exempt, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, the Capri ferries from Sorrento and Naples, Pompeii, and an honest comparison with the bus and ferry.
How much is a car from Naples Airport to Positano?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Naples International Airport (NAP) to Positano costs from US$280 in a business sedan, US$365 in a business SUV and US$730 in an Executive Sprinter. The price is per vehicle and includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
The airport is about 62 km (38 mi) from Positano, roughly 70 minutes on a clear road, but the coast road is rarely clear. The route leaves Naples on the motorway past Vesuvius, then climbs over the Sorrento peninsula and drops onto the cliff road into Positano, where tight hairpins, tour buses and scooters set the pace. In high summer the same drive can take much longer than the clear-road figure. A round trip from NAP costs from US$535 in a business sedan to US$1,390 in a Sprinter.
Naples Airport and the drive to the coast
| Route | Distance | Clear-road drive | Business Sedan | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Naples Airport (NAP) to Positano | 62 km / 38 mi | about 70 min | from US$280 | US$490 | US$730 |
| Naples Airport (NAP) to Positano, round trip | 2 x 62 km | about 70 min each way | from US$535 | US$935 | US$1,390 |
Naples International Airport (NAP). Naples Capodichino sits on the north-east edge of the city, close to the motorway south. Many travellers from North America reach it on a connection through a European hub, or arrive by high-speed train from Rome at Napoli Centrale. Give us your flight number and the chauffeur tracks the landing and waits in the arrivals hall with your name. Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, which matters when the connecting flight runs late. Book a Naples airport transfer and see how the meeting works on meet and greet.
Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento. Positano is the reference point for our fares; for other towns, enter the address in the web booker for a fixed price. As a guide, Amalfi is about 65 km (40 mi) from the airport by road and Ravello about 59 km (37 mi), each roughly 70 minutes on a clear road, while Sorrento, on the Naples side of the peninsula, is about 52 km (32 mi), roughly an hour.
From Rome. Positano is about 269 km (167 mi) from central Rome, roughly 3 hours 25 minutes on a clear road. Many travellers combine a stay with our Rome chauffeur service and a door-to-door drive south, with a stop at Pompeii on the way; book it as a city to city car service.
The alternating-plate rule on the Amalfi coast road
The Amalfi coast road, the SS163 Amalfitana, runs for about 40 km from Vietri sul Mare to Positano through Cetara, Maiori, Minori, Ravello, Atrani, Amalfi, Conca dei Marini, Furore and Praiano. To control summer traffic, an ANAS ordinance (no. 340 of 2019), extended by the coast's municipalities, restricts private cars on set days. The Comune di Praiano published the 2026 rules on 1 June 2026:
- How it works. On even-numbered dates, cars whose plate ends in an even digit may not use the road; on odd-numbered dates, cars with an odd final digit may not. The rule applies from 10.00 to 18.00 only. Two-wheelers are not affected, and the rule covers only the SS163, not other roads such as the Agerola road or the Chiunzi pass.
- When it applied in 2026. Every day from 30 March to 6 April and from 25 April to 2 May; weekends and public holidays in June and July; every day in August and September; and weekends and holidays in October, ending on 31 October 2026.
- Who is exempt. Residents of the thirteen coast towns plus Agerola, holders of a disabled badge with the holder on board, emergency and police vehicles, and taxis and NCC, Italy's licensed hire cars with driver. Hotel guests with a booking may drive only on their check-in and check-out days.
That last point is why a licensed chauffeur matters on the coast. A self-drive rental may be barred on half the days of a summer week; a licensed chauffeur's car can run every day, so a dinner in Ravello or a day in Amalfi does not depend on the date and the last digit of a plate. The 2027 calendar has not yet been published; check the coast municipalities' notices before you travel, and the desk will plan around it.
Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and the towns between
Positano. The vertical town of the coast, with hotels stacked up the cliff and a narrow road looping through it. The drop-off is often on that road above the hotel's entrance or steps, and the chauffeur helps with bags down to reception. Tell us the exact hotel when you book; access varies a great deal from one property to the next. The town's tourism portal has local information.
Amalfi and Atrani. About 16 km (10 mi) east of Positano, roughly 23 minutes on a clear road. Amalfi's cathedral square and port are the coast's hub for buses and boats.
Ravello. The hilltop town above Amalfi, about 23 km (14 mi) from Positano, roughly 31 minutes on a clear road, with the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. Ravello is a favourite for weddings and summer concerts, and the road up from the coast is narrow and steep; an evening there is far easier with a driver than with a hunt for parking. The evening out and event night package costs from US$450 in a business sedan to US$900 in a Sprinter. See event transportation.
Praiano, Furore and Conca dei Marini. Quieter towns between Positano and Amalfi, with hotels right on the cliff road.
To see the coast at your own pace, the private highlights tour costs from US$360 in a business sedan to US$720 in a Sprinter, or book car service by the hour at US$90 an hour in a business sedan, US$115 in a business SUV and US$180 in a Sprinter, 3-hour minimum. See also private city tours.
Capri: the ferry hand-over from Sorrento or Naples
Capri is an island, and visitors' cars are not allowed on it: the island's official tourism site notes that non-resident vehicles may not be taken to Capri. You reach it by hydrofoil or ferry from Naples or Sorrento. The same site puts the hydrofoil at around 40 to 50 minutes from Naples and 20 minutes from Sorrento, with slower ferries taking 1 to 1.5 hours from Naples and about 40 minutes from Sorrento. Boats arrive at Capri's Marina Grande, where the funicular and buses take over.
Your chauffeur handles the road part. From Positano, Sorrento's harbour is about 18 km (11 mi), roughly 25 minutes on a clear road; the port of Naples is about 9 km (6 mi) from the airport. Book your boat tickets with the ferry operator, give us the departure time, and the chauffeur drops you at the port with your luggage in good time. On the way back, the car meets your boat. A popular plan for arrival day is Naples Airport to the port of Naples, the boat to Capri for a few nights, then a boat to Sorrento and a car along the coast to Positano. Ask the desk to quote each leg through the web booker.
Pompeii, Naples and other days out
The signature day trip is 8 hours to Pompeii. The archaeological park is about 37 km (23 mi) from Positano, roughly 47 minutes on a clear road. Buy entry in advance from the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and allow at least three hours inside; the day can add lunch, a winery on the slopes of Vesuvius or a stop in Sorrento. It costs from US$665 in a business sedan, US$850 in a business SUV, US$1,070 in a First Class Sedan and US$1,325 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in. Herculaneum, Paestum and its Greek temples, or a day in Naples itself work on a full-day chauffeur at the same rates, from US$665 to US$1,325.
The America's Cup in Naples, 2027. The Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup is being sailed in the Bay of Naples: the Louis Vuitton Cup challenger series starts on 22 May 2027 and the America's Cup Match begins on 10 July 2027. Expect heavy traffic on the Naples waterfront on race days and fuller hotels along the coast. Bus, ferry, taxi or a private driver
The coast has public transport, and for some travellers it is enough. Regional buses run the length of the coast road, linking Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and the towns between, and seasonal ferries connect the coast towns with each other and with Salerno. From the airport, the Alibus bus runs into Naples. These are cheap and frequent in season, but buses are crowded in summer, the bends of the coast road are hard work with luggage, and the boats depend on the sea.
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport bus into Naples, then onward bus or ferry | Per-person public fares | Several changes; allow most of a day | Backpackers and solo travellers |
| Coast-road buses between towns | Per-person fare | Subject to summer crowds | Day hops with no luggage |
| Seasonal ferries between coast towns | Per-person fare, set by the operator | Weather-dependent | Sightseeing between Amalfi and Positano |
| Taxi from the Naples Airport rank | Per car | Same roads as any car | Spontaneous trips |
| Rideshare app | Varies with demand and availability | Depends on availability | Light travellers comfortable with apps |
| Elly8.net business sedan NAP to Positano | US$280 fixed, per vehicle | about 70 min clear road, licensed NCC car | Families, luggage, late arrivals, plate-rule days |
Fairly put: if you are travelling light and have time, the bus and ferry are part of the coast's charm. A pre-booked driver wins when you land tired with suitcases, have children and need fitted seats, are a group of seven in one Sprinter, want dinner in Ravello without checking a plate calendar, or simply want a fixed price in US dollars agreed before you leave home. Compare in detail on chauffeur vs taxi, chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft and chauffeur vs renting a car.
Weddings, villa groups and corporate trips
Ravello, Positano and Amalfi host destination weddings from spring to autumn, and the coast road makes guest transport the part of the plan that most needs a professional. A typical plan uses a First Class Sedan for the couple and Executive Sprinters with driver for guests, with airport transfers spread across arrival day. See wedding transportation and group transportation.
For incentive groups and corporate retreats, the corporate roadshow day costs from US$810 in a business sedan to US$1,620 in a Sprinter, and a corporate account adds monthly invoicing and NDAs on request; see corporate car service. Planners, travel agents and hotel concierges can book on account through travel agent accounts and hotel accounts. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley; see the fleet for seats and luggage.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car from Naples Airport to Positano?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Naples Airport (NAP) to Positano costs from US$280 in a business sedan, US$365 in a business SUV, US$490 in a First Class Sedan and US$730 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Does the alternating-plate rule affect my driver?
No. Under the ANAS ordinance as published for 2026 by the Comune di Praiano, taxis and NCC licensed hire cars with driver are exempt from the alternating-plate restriction on the SS163. Private cars, including rentals, are limited between 10.00 and 18.00 on restricted days, with hotel guests allowed only on check-in and check-out days.
How long is the drive from Naples Airport to Positano?
About 62 km (38 mi), roughly 70 minutes on a clear road. In summer the coast road is often slower because of buses, scooters and tight bends, so allow extra time for dinner reservations or ferry departures.
Can you take us to the Capri ferry?
Yes. The chauffeur drives you to Sorrento's harbour, about 18 km (11 mi) from Positano, or to the port of Naples, and meets your boat on the way back. Book the boat with the ferry operator; visitors' cars are not allowed on Capri itself.
Where does the chauffeur meet me at Naples Airport?
In the arrivals hall, holding a name board, after baggage claim. The chauffeur tracks your flight number, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, so a late connection is handled automatically.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Ask for child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. On the coast road, fitted seats and a Business SUV make the bends far more comfortable for children.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less a 10% fee applies, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds return to the original card.
Can you move a wedding group in Ravello?
Yes. The desk schedules Executive Sprinters and sedans for guests between hotels, the ceremony and the reception, and staggers airport transfers across arrival day. Send the guest list and timings through the web booker; planners and travel agents can book on account.
