A Munich airport transfer booked through Elly8.net is a private chauffeur at a fixed, all-in price agreed before you fly, charged to your card in US dollars. Munich Airport (MUC) to the Altstadt costs from US$200 in a business sedan to US$520 in an Executive Sprinter, and the chauffeur tracks your flight and meets you in arrivals with your name.
Rides in Munich are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Munich's airport is a long way out of town, which shapes every decision below: the terminals and the new long-haul pier, the S-Bahn and bus alternatives, Oktoberfest and the Messe fairs, the Munich Security Conference, and the drive to Neuschwanstein.
How much is a car from Munich Airport to the city centre?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Munich Airport (MUC) to the Altstadt costs from US$200 in a business sedan, US$260 in a business SUV, US$350 in a First Class Sedan and US$520 in an Executive Sprinter. Prices are per vehicle and include the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
The Altstadt is the reference point, covering the hotels around Marienplatz, Maximilianstrasse and Odeonsplatz, and the same fares serve most central addresses including Schwabing, Lehel and the Hauptbahnhof area. A round trip from MUC costs from US$380 in a business sedan, US$495 in a business SUV and US$990 in a Sprinter.
MUC lies north-east of the city, about 38 km (24 mi) from the Altstadt by road and roughly 34 minutes on a clear road. The airport itself says the drive into Munich takes about 45 minutes depending on traffic, and the A9 and the Mittlerer Ring are slow at rush hour and on fair and match days. Your fare is fixed regardless of how long the drive takes.
Munich Airport: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and the new pier
| Trip | Distance | Clear-road drive | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MUC to the Altstadt | 38 km / 24 mi | about 34 min | US$200 | US$260 | US$350 | US$520 |
| MUC round trip | 38 km / 24 mi each way | about 34 min each way | US$380 | US$495 | US$665 | US$990 |
| By the hour, as directed | 3-hour minimum | - | US$85/hr | US$110/hr | US$140/hr | US$170/hr |
Munich Airport has two terminals. Terminal 2 works together with its satellite building, opened in 2016. Terminal 1 gained a new pier for non-Schengen traffic, designed for long-haul travellers, which Munich Airport put into regular operation on 21 April 2026. Flights from the US and Canada arrive at one or the other depending on the airline, so the flight number you give us decides where the chauffeur waits.
The chauffeur tracks the landing, waits in the arrivals area of your terminal with a name board, and walks you to the car once you have cleared passport control and collected your bags. Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. For departures, tell us your airline and we drop you at the right terminal kerb. See airport transfers and meet and greet.
Many travellers land at MUC and drive straight on, to the Alps, Salzburg or a lake hotel, without going into Munich at all. Enter the destination in the web booker for a fixed price; for longer drives see city to city car service.
S-Bahn, airport bus, taxi or a pre-booked chauffeur
Munich's public transport to the airport is frequent. According to Munich Airport's FAQ, S-Bahn lines S1 and S8 depart for the city centre every 20 minutes and take about 45 minutes to the main station, and the Lufthansa Airport Bus also runs every 20 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof via Schwabing in about 35 minutes. Taxis wait at the ranks outside the terminals and charge by the meter, and with the airport this far from the city the metered total adds up.
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| S-Bahn S1 or S8 | Public transport fare per person | About 45 min to the main station, every 20 min | Solo travellers with light bags near a station |
| Lufthansa Airport Bus | Fare per person | About 35 min to the Hauptbahnhof, every 20 min | Travellers heading to the station area |
| Taxi from the rank | Metered fare | About 45 min depending on traffic | Spontaneous trips with no booking |
| Elly8.net business sedan | US$200 fixed, per vehicle | Door to door, about 34 min clear road | Families, groups, executives, fixed budgets |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter | US$520 fixed, per vehicle | Door to door | Delegations, fair teams, Oktoberfest groups |
The honest assessment: one person with a carry-on staying near the Hauptbahnhof or a stop on the S-Bahn trunk line will find the train or the bus the sensible choice. For everyone else the distance changes the maths. Forty-five minutes on a train after an overnight flight, followed by a walk or a change, is a long arrival with children or heavy bags, and a metered taxi over this distance has no fixed price. A business sedan at US$200 or a Sprinter at US$520 for up to a full group, agreed weeks ahead, often compares well per person. See chauffeur vs taxi, chauffeur vs airport shuttle and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft.
Hotel districts and business addresses
The Altstadt. Marienplatz and much of the old town around it are pedestrian zones, so the chauffeur sets you down at the nearest street the car can reach and helps with bags. Hotels on Maximilianstrasse and around Odeonsplatz are easier to reach by car.
Promenadeplatz. The square west of the Frauenkirche is home to the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, one of the city's grand hotels and the venue of the Munich Security Conference.
Lehel and Bogenhausen. Quieter, upscale districts along the Isar east of the old town, with hotels, consulates and private clinics.
Schwabing and the north. The university quarter and, further out, the BMW Welt car delivery centre and museum, a popular stop for car lovers.
Messe München in Riem. The trade fair grounds are about 10 km (6 mi) east of the Altstadt, roughly 14 minutes on a clear road; on fair days the approach roads and the U-Bahn are crowded.
Oktoberfest 2027
The 192nd Oktoberfest runs from 18 September to 3 October 2027 on the Theresienwiese, according to the official Oktoberfest site. Sixteen days of tents, rides and some of the heaviest crowds in Europe mean booked-out hotels, closed streets around the festival ground and taxi ranks that cannot keep up when the tents close.
A car booked for Oktoberfest works best with a plan: a drop-off and pickup at an agreed point a few streets away from the festival ground rather than at the gate, a fixed pickup time, and the chauffeur's mobile number. The evening out and event night package costs from US$425 in a business sedan to US$850 in a Sprinter, which suits a group with a tent reservation. The chauffeur follows local rules in the vehicle. Book your MUC transfers for festival weeks early; demand for cars runs high from the airport too. See event transportation and group transportation.
Messe München, IAA Mobility and the trade fairs
Messe München hosts some of the biggest trade fairs in the world. These are the dates published by organisers for the next editions after October 2026:
- The smarter E Europe, 8 to 10 June 2027. Exhibitions at Messe München, with conferences at the ICM on 7 and 8 June, per The smarter E Europe.
- IAA Mobility, 7 to 12 September 2027. The mobility show that replaced the Frankfurt motor show runs city-wide: according to IAA Mobility, the free IAA Open Space fills Munich's city centre from 7 to 12 September, while the IAA Summit for trade visitors runs at the Messe. Expect closures in the old town and traffic between the two.
- EXPO REAL, 4 to 6 October 2027. The real estate and investment fair, per EXPO REAL. Investors stay in central Munich and travel to Riem daily, so an hourly car is the norm.
- bauma, 3 to 9 April 2028. The world's leading construction machinery fair returns, according to bauma. Hotels across the region sell out well in advance.
For exhibitors and delegations, an Executive Sprinter carries a team between hotel, Messe and dinner, and hourly cars from US$85 an hour (3-hour minimum) wait between appointments. See conference and trade show transportation.
The Munich Security Conference
The Munich Security Conference 2027 takes place from 12 to 14 February 2027, according to the Munich Security Conference. The 2026 edition was held at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof and the Rosewood Munich. Conference weekends bring heads of state, ministers and delegations to the old town, so expect heavy security around the Bayerischer Hof and Promenadeplatz and restricted access to the surrounding streets.
For delegations, NGOs and corporate attendees, a government and diplomatic transportation booking usually combines MUC arrivals, an hourly car for the weekend and Sprinters for teams. The chauffeur follows police instructions and the desk plans set-down points around the restricted area; access depends on your accreditation, and Elly8.net provides transport, not security services. Book as soon as your attendance is confirmed, because hotel rooms and cars near the old town go quickly in February.
The Neuschwanstein day trip
The signature Munich package is a 10-hour day to Neuschwanstein Castle, the fairy-tale castle above Hohenschwangau, about 120 km (75 mi) south-west of the Altstadt by road. It costs from US$785 in a business sedan, US$1,015 in a business SUV, US$1,290 in a First Class Sedan, US$1,200 in a First Class SUV and US$1,565 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in. Castle tours run on timed tickets that sell out in season, so buy yours first and send us the time; the chauffeur plans the departure from Munich backwards from it, and the day often adds Linderhof or the Wieskirche on the way.
Salzburg is a classic full day from Munich, at the full-day chauffeur rate of US$630 in a business sedan to US$1,255 in a Sprinter; Salzburg Tourism lists the old-town sights. In the city, the private city highlights tour costs from US$340 to US$680 and covers Marienplatz, the Residenz, the English Garden, Nymphenburg Palace and the Olympic Park. See private city tours and car service by the hour.
Corporate travel and weddings
Munich is home to global headquarters in cars, insurance, engineering and technology, and to a busy calendar of board meetings and investor days. The corporate roadshow day costs from US$765 in a business sedan to US$1,530 in a Sprinter, with the car held between meetings across the city. A corporate account adds fixed MUC fares, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request. Read more on corporate car service and investor roadshows.
Weddings in Munich's palaces, beer-garden venues and the lake hotels to the south usually pair a First Class Sedan with a Sprinter for guests; see wedding transportation. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley. The fleet page shows seats and luggage by class. Travel agents and hotels can book on account through travel agent accounts and hotel accounts.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car from Munich Airport to the city centre?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from MUC to the Altstadt costs from US$200 in a business sedan, US$260 in a business SUV, US$320 in a First Class SUV, US$350 in a First Class Sedan and US$520 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. How long is the drive from Munich Airport?
About 34 minutes on a clear road over 38 km (24 mi) to the Altstadt; the airport itself quotes about 45 minutes depending on traffic. Rush hour on the A9 and fair or match days add more. Your fare is fixed, so a slow drive does not change the price.
Is the S-Bahn a good alternative?
For one traveller with a light bag, yes. S1 and S8 trains leave every 20 minutes and take about 45 minutes to the main station, and the Lufthansa Airport Bus takes about 35 minutes. Families, groups and anyone with heavy luggage usually find a fixed-price car door to door easier.
Where does the chauffeur meet me at MUC?
In the arrivals area of your terminal, holding a name board, after you clear passport control and collect your bags. Flights from North America can use Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 depending on the airline; the chauffeur checks from your flight number and tracks the landing.
Can you get us to and from Oktoberfest?
Yes. Oktoberfest 2027 runs from 18 September to 3 October on the Theresienwiese. We arrange drop-off and pickup at an agreed point away from the closed streets around the festival ground. The evening out package costs from US$425 in a business sedan to US$850 in a Sprinter.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Ask for child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. A Business SUV or Executive Sprinter fits seats, a stroller and luggage in one vehicle.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less a 10% fee applies, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds return to the original card.
Do you offer corporate accounts in Munich?
Yes. Corporate accounts include fixed MUC fares, roadshow and fair days, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request. The same account books Frankfurt, Zurich and our other cities across Europe and North America, so a team keeps one set of terms.
