The 192nd Oktoberfest takes place from Saturday 18 September to Sunday 3 October 2027 on the Theresienwiese in Munich, according to the City of Munich's official festival site. For sixteen days the Wiesn draws visitors from all over the world, and companies, clubs and groups book tables in the big tents months ahead. Getting there is easy; getting home at 10:30 p.m. with everyone else is the part that needs a plan.
Elly8.net books Oktoberfest transportation around the festival's own rules: a chauffeur who meets you at Munich Airport, a drop-off and pickup on an agreed street outside the road closures, and a car waiting when your tent closes, so you are not one of thousands looking for a taxi on the same corner. Munich prices are fixed and all-in, and they do not change for the Wiesn.
How do you get to and from Oktoberfest by car?
Book a chauffeur and agree a pickup street outside the cordon. The city closes Bavariaring and Theresienhöhe to motor vehicles during the festival and there is no parking at the Theresienwiese, so cars drop and collect on the edge of the closed area. The chauffeur confirms the exact meeting point by text before the tents close.
For the festival, the city sets up a cordon around the Theresienwiese with road closures and stopping bans. The official FAQ describes it as bounded by Lindwurmstrasse, Herzog-Heinrich-Strasse, Paul-Heyse-Strasse, Schwanthalerstrasse, Schießstättstrasse, Heimeranstrasse, Ganghoferstrasse, Hans-Fischer-Strasse and Poccistrasse, with Bavariaring and Theresienhöhe closed to motor vehicles and the side streets leading into them turned into cul-de-sacs. There are no parking spaces at the festival ground.
That cordon is why a pre-booked car works better than hoping for a taxi. The chauffeur knows the closed streets, sets you down on the edge of the area a short walk from your tent, and returns to an agreed point at the time you set. When the music stops and the crowd pours out, you walk to a car that is already waiting.
Tent hours and what they mean for your car
The official opening times decide when your car should be waiting. On weekdays the large tents, including the Oide Wiesn, open from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and the bar closes at 10:30 p.m. On weekends and on the public holiday, 3 October, the tents open at 9 a.m. The Käfer Wiesn-Schänke and Kuffler's Weinzelt may stay open until 1 a.m., with the bar closing half an hour earlier. On the opening Saturday, the large and medium-sized tents serve only non-alcoholic drinks and small dishes until the first keg is tapped at noon.
The busiest moment for transport is the half hour after 10:30 p.m., when the big tents empty together. We usually schedule pickups for just after the bar closes, or a little later if you want to let the first wave clear. If your evening runs on to the Käfer tent or the Weinzelt, tell the desk and the car comes later.
The festival has strict rules on what you can bring: bags and backpacks may hold no more than three litres and measure no more than 20 x 15 x 10 cm, large luggage is not allowed on the grounds, and strollers are banned all day on Saturdays and on 3 October, and from 6 p.m. on other days. If you land on the day you plan to visit, go to the hotel first and leave the cases there. All rules are on the official Oktoberfest visitor FAQs and tent opening times.
Arriving at Munich Airport for the Wiesn
Munich Airport (MUC) is about 38 km (24 mi) from the Altstadt, roughly 34 minutes on a clear road; on our routing the Theresienwiese is about 39 km (24 mi) from the terminals. Many visitors fly in on the opening weekend or the final weekend, when the roads into the city are busiest. The chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you inside arrivals at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 with a name board, and waits at no charge after a tracked landing.
Fixed airport prices, per vehicle and all-in:
| Route | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MUC to the Altstadt | US$200 | US$260 | US$350 | US$520 |
| MUC round trip to the Altstadt | US$380 | US$495 | US$665 | US$990 |
| By the hour, as directed (3-hour minimum) | US$85 per hour | US$110 per hour | US$140 per hour | US$170 per hour |
A First Class SUV is also listed from US$320 for the airport leg. Hotels outside the Altstadt are priced in the web booker. See how airport transfers and meet and greet work.
The Oktoberfest day and evening plan
Before the tent. The car collects you at your hotel and drops you on the edge of the cordon with time to find your tent before the reservation starts. We build in a buffer for the walk from the edge of the closures.
During your visit. For a long day at the Wiesn the car does not need to wait the whole time. Book the drop-off and a separate pickup, or keep the car by the hour if you plan to move on to a dinner or a second venue in town.
After the tent. The chauffeur is waiting at the agreed point when your tent closes. The evening out and event night package keeps one car and chauffeur for five hours, from US$425 in a business sedan to US$850 in an Executive Sprinter. The chauffeur follows local rules on drinks in vehicles.
Packages for the festival, per vehicle and all-in:
| Package | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evening out & event night (5 hours) | US$425 | US$550 | US$700 | US$850 |
| Full-day chauffeur (8 hours) | US$630 | US$810 | US$1,035 | US$1,255 |
| Corporate roadshow day (10 hours) | US$765 | US$990 | US$1,260 | US$1,530 |
Prices include the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet; parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Our hourly chauffeur service explains how hourly bookings work, and event transportation covers the wider approach to festival nights.
Company outings, client tables and groups
Many companies host clients and teams at the Wiesn, and tables in the big tents are usually booked by groups. An Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers and costs US$170 per hour in Munich; it collects the whole table from one or two hotels and brings everyone back together, which is much easier than sharing taxis at 10:30 p.m. For bigger groups, book several Sprinters under one reference and the desk times them to arrive and leave together. See group transportation, party bus rental and Sprinter van hire with a driver.
A corporate account puts every ride on one monthly invoice with a reference per guest, and agencies selling Oktoberfest packages can book for clients through travel-agent accounts. Companies hosting clients around a trade visit can also use our corporate car service. The desk signs NDAs on request; Elly8.net provides transportation, not security.
Oktoberfest transport options compared honestly
| Option | Cost | Best for | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| U-Bahn and S-Bahn | MVV fares | Most visitors, especially solo travellers and couples | Very crowded at tent closing time |
| S1 or S8 from the airport | MVV fare, about 40 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof | Solo travellers with light luggage | Luggage on crowded trains during the festival |
| Taxi | Metered | Single trips away from the festival | Queues on the edge of the closure when the tents empty |
| Self-drive | Park and Ride, at cost | Visitors from outside the city | No parking at the Theresienwiese; green sticker needed inside the Mittlerer Ring |
| Elly8.net chauffeur | From US$85 per hour, 3-hour minimum | Groups, client hosts, families, late finishes | Book ahead; festival weekends book out early |
The city itself recommends public transport, and for many visitors it is the right answer. The festival's FAQ lists the nearby stops: Theresienwiese and Schwanthalerhöhe on the U4 and U5, Heimeranplatz on the U4, U5, S7 and S20, Goetheplatz and Poccistraße on the U3 and U6, and Hackerbrücke on the S-Bahn, which is closed when pedestrian numbers are high. From the airport, Munich Airport's public transport page says the S1 and S8 run alternately, so a train leaves about every 10 minutes, and reach the main railway station in about 40 minutes. Taxi ranks are in the arrivals and departure areas of both terminals.
If you are two people with a day bag and a hotel near a U-Bahn line, the train is cheap and simple. A chauffeur wins when you are hosting a table of clients, travelling with family, arriving with luggage, staying outside the centre or leaving at the same moment as everyone else. There is no surge on a fixed price. For the general comparisons, see chauffeur vs taxi and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft.
The days around the festival
Book hotels early for the Wiesn; many visitors stay in the Altstadt, around the Hauptbahnhof, in Schwabing or out towards the airport. A car on standby makes any base work. On the day after the tent, the signature Neuschwanstein Castle day trip (10 hours) is priced from US$785 in a business sedan to US$1,565 in an Executive Sprinter, and the private city highlights tour starts at US$340.
Elly8.net also covers Zurich, Frankfurt, Prague, Venice and St. Moritz, and a city-to-city car service connects them. More on the city is on our Munich car service page. Flights and hotels can be booked through our travel partner BookingWorldwide.net; Elly8.net books the car. The official programme, tent list and news are on Oktoberfest.de.

Frequently asked questions
When is Oktoberfest 2027?
The 192nd Oktoberfest runs from Saturday 18 September to Sunday 3 October 2027 on the Theresienwiese in Munich, according to the official festival site. The large tents open at 10 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. at weekends and on 3 October, and their bars close at 10:30 p.m.
Can a car drop me at the tent entrance?
No. During the festival the city closes Bavariaring and Theresienhöhe to motor vehicles and sets up a cordon with stopping bans, and there is no parking at the Theresienwiese. The chauffeur drops you on the edge of the closed area and agrees a pickup point a short walk from your tent.
How much is a car from Munich Airport during Oktoberfest?
The price does not change for the festival. Munich Airport to the Altstadt is US$200 in a business sedan, US$260 in a business SUV and US$520 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in per vehicle, with flight tracking, meet and greet in arrivals and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing.
Can a chauffeur wait until the tent closes?
Yes. Book a separate pickup for your closing time, or keep the car by the hour from US$85 per hour in a business sedan, three hours minimum. The five-hour evening out and event night package starts at US$425 and suits an evening that ends after the tent.
Can you take a whole table of guests?
Yes. An Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers and costs US$170 per hour in Munich. Larger groups book several Sprinters under one reference, timed to arrive and leave together, and corporate accounts receive one monthly invoice.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 72 hours before pickup and it is free. At 72 hours or less the fee is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or a no-show, 100%. Refunds go to the original card. Times can be changed through the 24/7 desk.
Can I bring my luggage to the Wiesn?
No. Large luggage is not allowed on the festival grounds, and bags may hold no more than three litres and measure no more than 20 x 15 x 10 cm. If you arrive on the day of your visit, the chauffeur takes you to your hotel first so you can leave the cases there.
Is it better to take the U-Bahn?
For many visitors, yes: the U4 and U5 stop at Theresienwiese and several other stations surround the grounds. It is very crowded at closing time. A chauffeur is better for groups, client hosting, families, late finishes and hotels away from the U-Bahn lines.
