An Amsterdam car service booked through Elly8.net is a private chauffeur at a fixed, all-in price set before you fly, charged to your card in US dollars. Schiphol (AMS) to the canal ring costs from US$125 in a business sedan to US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, and the chauffeur tracks your flight and meets you inside the arrivals area with your name.
Rides in Amsterdam are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Below: how the Schiphol meeting works, what the canal belt's narrow streets and emission zones mean for your drop-off, the RAI conventions and spring events that fill the city, and a straight comparison with the train, the taxi rank and rideshare.
How much is a car from Schiphol to central Amsterdam?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Schiphol to the canal ring costs from US$125 in a business sedan, US$165 in a business SUV, US$220 in a First Class Sedan and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter. Prices are per vehicle and include the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
The canal ring is the reference point because most visitors stay inside or close to it, but the same fares serve central addresses from the Jordaan to the Museum Quarter and the Plantage. A round trip from Schiphol costs from US$240 in a business sedan, US$315 in a business SUV and US$620 in a Sprinter.
Schiphol is about 16 km (10 mi) from the canal ring, roughly 23 minutes on a clear road. The A10 ring road and the A4 slow down at rush hour, and the final kilometre inside the canal belt is the slowest part of any trip: one-way streets, bridges, trams and a great many bicycles. The fare is fixed whatever the traffic does.
Schiphol: the meeting point and the drive in
| Trip | Distance | Clear-road drive | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Schiphol to the canal ring | 16 km / 10 mi | about 23 min | US$125 | US$165 | US$220 | US$325 |
| Schiphol round trip | 16 km / 10 mi each way | about 23 min each way | US$240 | US$315 | US$420 | US$620 |
| By the hour, as directed | 3-hour minimum | - | US$90/hr | US$115/hr | US$145/hr | US$180/hr |
Schiphol's arrival halls lead out to Schiphol Plaza, the airport's public meeting hall, which keeps the meeting simple. Give us your flight number at booking; the chauffeur tracks the landing, waits at the exit of your arrival hall holding a name board, and walks you through Schiphol Plaza to the car. The car usually waits in the P1 short-stay garage, which Schiphol describes as a 2 to 6 minute walk from Schiphol Plaza and the arrival halls, rather than circling the kerb.
Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. Passport control for non-Schengen flights from the US and Canada can be slow when several transatlantic arrivals land together in the morning, and baggage can take a while after that; neither costs you anything extra. See airport transfers and meet and greet for the detail.
For the return, the chauffeur sets you down at the departures kerb for your hall. Tell us your airline and departure time and the desk plans the pickup from your hotel around the canal-belt traffic.
Train, taxi, rideshare or a pre-booked chauffeur
Amsterdam has one of the best airport rail links in Europe, and for many travellers it is the right answer. NS, the Dutch railway, quotes 17 minutes from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam, 133 trains a day and e-tickets from €5.50. Schiphol's taxi page sends travellers to the official taxi stand in front of Schiphol Plaza at A1, where taxis charge by the meter, while Uber and Bolt use a separate app pick-up point at stops E1 to E6.
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| NS train to Amsterdam | E-tickets from €5.50 per person | About 17 min, then tram or walk | Solo travellers with light bags, hotels near Centraal |
| Official taxi, Schiphol Plaza A1 | Metered fare | Same roads as any car | Spontaneous trips with no booking |
| Rideshare app | Varies with demand | Pickup at app point E1 to E6 | Light travellers comfortable with apps |
| Elly8.net business sedan | US$125 fixed, per vehicle | Door to door, about 23 min clear road | Families, groups, late arrivals, fixed budgets |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter | US$325 fixed, per vehicle | Door to door | Groups, delegations, wedding parties |
The honest verdict: for one person with a carry-on heading to a hotel near Amsterdam Centraal or on a direct tram line, the train is quick and cheap, and it is what the desk would suggest. The picture changes with luggage and people. Amsterdam Centraal is a busy station, the canal-house hotels often have steep steps and no lift, and dragging large cases along cobbled canal streets after an overnight flight is nobody's idea of an arrival. A metered taxi from the official rank is reliable, though you will not know the total in advance.
A pre-booked chauffeur wins for families with child seats, groups of four or more with transatlantic bags, executives going straight to a meeting in the Zuidas, wedding parties, and anyone landing late at night. The canal belt: access limits and emission zones
Driving inside Amsterdam's seventeenth-century canal ring is different from driving anywhere in North America. The streets along the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht are narrow and largely one-way, many bridges are low or restricted, trams have priority on the main routes, and cyclists outnumber cars. Stopping is only allowed in certain places, so the chauffeur sets you down at the nearest legal point to your hotel door and helps with the bags from there.
The city also runs emission zones. According to the City of Amsterdam, the low emission zone for diesel vehicles covers everything inside the A10 ring road, where diesel cars and taxis must meet at least the Euro 5 standard, and a separate zero-emission zone for vans and lorries applies inside the S100 ring around the city centre. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, which keeps cars well inside the rules; for larger vehicles the desk confirms the closest permitted set-down point when you book, and the chauffeur walks the last stretch with you if needed.
The practical upshot: give us the exact hotel name and address, and if you are carrying a lot of luggage say so. For a group in a canal-house hotel, an Executive Sprinter to the nearest permitted stop plus a short walk is often quicker than any alternative.
Hotel districts and business addresses
The canal ring and the Jordaan. Boutique hotels in converted canal houses, the Nine Streets shopping lanes and the Jordaan's cafés. Drop-offs are tight; expect the car to stop at the nearest corner or bridge.
Dam Square and the centre. The larger city-centre hotels around Dam Square and towards Amsterdam Centraal, with heavy pedestrian traffic day and night.
Museum Quarter and Vondelpark. Around Museumplein, home to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, the streets are wider and pickups easier. Both museums run timed entry; book tickets before you book the car.
Zuidas and Amsterdam Zuid. The business district in the south of the city, home to law firms, banks and corporate headquarters, sits beside the RAI and is quick to reach from Schiphol. Most roadshows start here.
The Eastern Docklands and Noord. Waterfront hotels and offices east of Centraal and across the IJ, reached by road tunnel or ferry.
RAI Amsterdam and the events that fill the city
RAI Amsterdam is the city's main convention centre, about 6 km (4 mi) from the canal ring, roughly 16 minutes on a clear road, and close to Schiphol by motorway. These are the dates published by organisers for the next editions after October 2026:
- Money20/20 Europe, 8 to 10 June 2027. The fintech conference returns to the RAI, according to Money20/20 Europe. Three days of back-to-back meetings at the RAI and in Zuidas offices suit an hourly booking.
- IBC2027, 10 to 13 September 2027. The broadcast and media technology show runs at the RAI, per IBC, with exhibition hours from 10:30 on the first day. Hotels across the city fill, and evening receptions in the canal district mean the last car of the night matters as much as the first.
- King's Day, Tuesday 27 April 2027. The national celebration of the King's birthday, confirmed by the Royal House. Central Amsterdam becomes a street party with the canals full of boats; plan airport transfers to and from the edge of the centre and expect road closures.
- Amsterdam Light Festival, 26 November 2026 to 17 January 2027. Edition 15 of the Amsterdam Light Festival places light art along the canals; a car to and from the boat departure piers is welcome on cold evenings.
For concerts and football, the Ziggo Dome and the Johan Cruijff ArenA sit side by side in Amsterdam Zuidoost, and exits after a sold-out show are slow. The evening out and event night package costs from US$450 in a business sedan to US$900 in a Sprinter, with the car waiting at an agreed point. See conference and trade show transportation, event transportation and concert transportation.
Keukenhof in spring and the Zaanse Schans day trip
Keukenhof. The flower gardens at Lisse are open from 18 March to 9 May 2027, daily from 8:00 to 19:00, according to Keukenhof. The park is about 36 km (22 mi) south-west of the canal ring. Entry is by ticket, so buy yours first, then book a car by the hour from US$90 in a business sedan or US$180 in a Sprinter (3-hour minimum). Weekend traffic to the bulb fields is heavy at the height of the season; a weekday morning is the easier visit.
Zaanse Schans and Volendam. The signature Amsterdam package is a 6-hour day to the windmills of the Zaanse Schans and the harbour town of Volendam. The Zaanse Schans is about 18 km (11 mi) north of the canal ring, and the day continues to Volendam on the IJsselmeer before the drive back. It costs from US$500 in a business sedan, US$635 in a business SUV, US$805 in a First Class Sedan, US$750 in a First Class SUV and US$995 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in.
In the city, the private city highlights tour costs from US$360 in a business sedan to US$720 in a Sprinter, covering Museumplein, the canal ring, the Jordaan and the waterfront with stops where you want them. A full-day chauffeur costs from US$665 to US$1,325, useful for The Hague, Delft or Rotterdam. See private city tours and car service by the hour.
Corporate travel, weddings and groups
Amsterdam is a European headquarters city, and the desk is set up for it. A corporate account gives your company fixed Schiphol fares, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request, with the same terms in London, Paris, Frankfurt and North America. The corporate roadshow day costs from US$810 in a business sedan to US$1,620 in a Sprinter for a deal team, with the car held between meetings in Zuidas, the centre and Schiphol. Read more on corporate car service and investor roadshows.
Weddings in the city's historic venues and the country estates outside it usually pair a First Class Sedan for the couple with an Executive Sprinter with driver for guests; see wedding transportation. Travel agents and hotel concierges can book on account through travel agent accounts and hotel accounts. The fleet page shows seats and luggage by class.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from Schiphol to Amsterdam?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Schiphol to the canal ring costs from US$125 in a business sedan, US$165 in a business SUV, US$200 in a First Class SUV, US$220 in a First Class Sedan and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Where does the chauffeur meet me at Schiphol?
At the exit of your arrival hall, holding a name board, once you have cleared passport control and collected your bags. The arrival halls lead to Schiphol Plaza, and the car usually waits in the nearby P1 garage. The chauffeur tracks the flight, so an early or late landing is handled automatically.
Is the train faster than a car from Schiphol?
The train is quick: NS quotes 17 minutes to Amsterdam, with e-tickets from €5.50. A car takes about 23 minutes on a clear road but goes door to door. For one traveller with a light bag the train wins; for families and groups with luggage, a fixed-price car is usually easier.
Can a car drive right up to my canal-house hotel?
Often close, but not always to the door. Canal streets are narrow and stopping is restricted, so the chauffeur stops at the nearest legal point and helps with bags. Emission-zone rules also apply inside the A10; the desk confirms the set-down point for larger vehicles when you book.
When is Keukenhof open in 2027?
Keukenhof is open from 18 March to 9 May 2027, from 8:00 to 19:00 daily, according to the gardens. It is about 36 km (22 mi) from the canal ring. Buy entry tickets first, then book a car by the hour from US$90 with a 3-hour minimum.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Request child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. A Business SUV or Executive Sprinter fits seats, a stroller and luggage for the whole family in one vehicle.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less a 10% fee applies, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds return to the original card.
Do you handle groups for IBC and other RAI events?
Yes. Executive Sprinters carry delegations between Schiphol, hotels and the RAI from US$325 per vehicle for the airport run, and hourly cars from US$90 an hour keep a team moving between halls, meetings and dinners. Book early for IBC and Money20/20; the city's cars fill up.
