Some journeys are too short to fly and too long to enjoy behind the wheel: two to six hours between cities, with luggage, a meeting at the other end or a family in the back. A city to city car service takes you from your door to the other door, with one chauffeur, one vehicle and a price fixed before you leave. Elly8.net books long distance rides between and around our 141 cities in the USA, Canada and Europe.
City to city routes are priced in the Elly8 web booker for your exact pickup and drop-off, because the address at each end changes the job. A handful of popular out-of-town trips are also on our city price lists as fixed packages, such as the Toronto to Niagara Falls day trip or Milan to Lake Como. Every price includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes and standard gratuity; tolls are billed at cost.
How much is a long distance car service?
Elly8.net prices city to city rides in the web booker for your exact addresses, all-in. For a guide, fixed price-list routes include Buffalo airport to the Niagara Falls hotels from US$185, Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls from US$315, Milan Malpensa to Lake Como from US$320 and full-day trips such as Paris to Champagne from US$830.
The booker uses the road distance between your addresses and the vehicle you choose, so a ride from Midtown to downtown Boston is priced for the 210 miles it actually covers. Here are the main routes we book, with road distances and clear-road drive times measured on the road network. Real times are longer at peak; a fixed price means the extra time never costs you more.
| Route | Road distance | Clear-road drive | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York (Midtown) to Boston | 210 mi (338 km) | about 4 h 35 min | web booker |
| New York (Midtown) to Philadelphia | 96 mi (155 km) | about 2 h 5 min | web booker |
| New York (Midtown) to Washington, DC | 228 mi (367 km) | about 4 h 50 min | web booker |
| Beverly Hills to San Diego | 131 mi (211 km) | about 2 h 40 min | web booker |
| Beverly Hills to the Las Vegas Strip | 275 mi (442 km) | about 5 h 10 min | web booker |
| Downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls | 128 km (79 mi) | about 1 h 35 min | web booker, or the Niagara day trip package |
| Downtown Toronto to Buffalo | 158 km (98 mi) | about 1 h 55 min, plus the border | web booker |
| Downtown Toronto to Montreal | 550 km (342 mi) | about 6 h 30 min | web booker |
| Paris (8th) to Reims | 147 km (92 mi) | about 1 h 50 min | web booker, or the Champagne day trip |

A day trip keeps the car and chauffeur with you for the whole day and brings you back; a one-way city to city ride drops you and the chauffeur returns empty. When you need to come back the same day, the day trip or an hourly booking is usually better value than two one-way rides.
The routes, one by one
New York to Boston. About 210 miles (338 km), four and a half hours on a clear road, more on a Friday afternoon on I-95. The car is the right choice when you have luggage, a family, a pet or more than one stop, such as Greenwich or New Haven on the way. One traveller with a laptop bag who wants to work may prefer the train between the two downtown stations; see train station transfers for the car at each end. Start from New York car service or Boston car service.
New York to Philadelphia. About 96 miles (155 km), two hours on a clear road. It is a good route for a car because the drive is short enough that door to door often beats the train once you count the trips to and from each station. See Philadelphia car service.
Los Angeles to San Diego. About 131 miles (211 km) from Beverly Hills, under three hours on a clear road; traffic on the I-405 and I-5 makes the time vary more than the distance suggests. Popular with families heading south and with corporate travellers moving between offices. See San Diego car service.
Los Angeles to Las Vegas. About 275 miles (442 km) from Beverly Hills to the Strip, a little over five hours on a clear road and it can take much longer on a Sunday afternoon heading back to Los Angeles. A Sprinter for a group, or a First Class SUV for a family with bags, turns the drive into part of the trip. See Las Vegas limo service and Los Angeles limo service.
Toronto to Niagara Falls and Buffalo. Toronto and the GTA run on the Elly8 fleet and chauffeurs, so this route is booked and driven by our own chauffeurs. Downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls is about 128 km (79 mi), an hour and a half on a clear road along the QEW. To Buffalo is about 158 km (98 mi) and involves the border. See Niagara Falls limo, Buffalo car service and Toronto limo service.
Toronto to Montreal. About 550 km (342 mi), six and a half hours on a clear road on Highway 401 and Autoroute 20. A long day in a car, but door to door with luggage, children or a dog it is often easier than a flight with two airport transfers. See Montreal limo service.
Paris to Champagne. About 147 km (92 mi) from the 8th arrondissement to Reims, under two hours on a clear road, with Epernay a similar distance. Most travellers book the ten-hour Champagne day trip so the car waits between house visits, and plan the houses with the region's Comite Champagne site; see Paris chauffeur service and wine tours.
Milan to Lake Como. About 49 km (31 mi) to Como town and 71 km (44 mi) to Bellagio. The lake road is narrow and slow in summer, and the car is far easier than the train with luggage for a lakeside hotel. Malpensa to Bellagio is fixed from US$320. See Milan chauffeur service and Lake Como.
Crossing the US-Canada border by car
The Toronto to Buffalo and Niagara routes cross an international border. The car stops at the crossing and every passenger answers the border officer's questions and shows documents. For US citizens entering Canada by land, the Canada Border Services Agency recommends travelling with a valid passport, and accepts other documents that show name, date of birth and citizenship, such as a US enhanced driver's licence. Travellers of other nationalities should check their own entry requirements in both directions before booking.
Allow extra time for the crossing at busy periods, and tell us when you book that the route crosses the border so the partner assigns a chauffeur and vehicle able to make the crossing. Border queues are part of the route; if a delay runs long, the chauffeur keeps the desk informed.
Car vs train, bus and flying
We are honest about this, because the car is not always the right answer.
The train is a strong choice between city centres when you travel light and both ends are near a station. Amtrak runs the Acela on the Boston to Washington corridor with multiple departures daily, and GO Transit runs Niagara GO train service from Toronto. For one traveller with a small bag going downtown to downtown, the train is cheaper and may be faster at rush hour.
Flying wins over long distances, but for 200 to 300 miles, once you add the airport transfers, security and boarding, door to door is often similar to the drive, and less predictable.
Driving yourself is cheapest on paper, but you drive, you park at both ends, and on a one-way trip you have to return the car or pay a drop fee.
A chauffeured car wins when you have luggage, a family, a group, a pet, more than one stop, a meeting on the way that needs a quiet back seat, or a destination that is not near a station. It also wins on certainty: a fixed price, a chauffeur waiting at your door at the time you chose, and no connections to miss.
| New York to Boston | Door to door | Luggage | Price known in advance | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elly8.net chauffeured car | one vehicle, door to door | as much as the vehicle holds | yes, all-in | families, groups, luggage, working in the car |
| Train between downtown stations | add a car or taxi at each end | carry it yourself | yes, per ticket | one traveller, light bag |
| Flight | add two airport transfers and security | checked bags | per ticket, plus bags | longer distances |
| Self-drive rental | you drive and park | yes | partly; fuel, tolls and parking extra | travellers who enjoy the drive |

Choosing the vehicle for a long ride
Comfort matters more over three hours than over thirty minutes. A Business Sedan (up to 3 passengers, 2 bags) suits a solo traveller; a First Class Sedan (S-Class or similar) gives a quieter ride and more legroom for working in the car; a Business or First Class SUV (up to 6, 6 bags) suits families and anyone with skis or golf clubs; an Executive Sprinter (up to 12, 12 bags) moves a team or two families together, and a Jet Sprinter (6 captain's chairs) is a moving office. Tell us about rest stops, children and pets when you book; child seats are available on request. See the fleet page.
Outside Toronto and the GTA, rides are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
How booking works
- Enter the pickup and the destination address in the web booker, with the flight or train number if you are arriving first.
- Choose the vehicle, add passengers, bags and any stops on the way.
- Reserve now and pay by card or on account. The confirmation arrives by email and the chauffeur's details follow before pickup.
Companies sending staff between offices use corporate accounts with monthly invoicing; travel agents and hotels book for guests through travel-agent and hotel accounts. Cancellation: more than 72 hours before pickup, free; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less, or a no-show, 100%. Refunds go to the original card.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from New York to Boston?
The web booker prices New York to Boston for your exact addresses and vehicle, all-in with the chauffeur, taxes and standard gratuity, and tolls billed at cost. The route is about 210 miles (338 km), about four and a half hours on a clear road, so a First Class Sedan or SUV is worth considering for comfort.
Is a long distance ride priced by the mile or by the hour?
A one-way city to city ride is priced as a fixed trip based on the road distance between your addresses, so traffic never changes the price. When the car should wait for you and bring you back the same day, a day trip package or an hourly booking is usually better value than two one-way rides.
Can the car cross the US-Canada border?
Yes, on routes such as Toronto to Buffalo and Niagara Falls to Buffalo airport. Every passenger must carry valid entry documents; the Canada Border Services Agency recommends a valid passport for US citizens entering by land. Tell us the route crosses the border when you book, and allow extra time at busy periods.
Can we stop on the way?
Yes. Add stops when you book, such as lunch, a meeting or a second pickup, and the booker prices the whole route. Short rest stops on long drives are part of the trip; longer stops are best booked as part of an hourly or day trip booking so the car waits with you.
Is the train cheaper than a car between cities?
For one traveller with light luggage going between city centres, usually yes. The car becomes better value with two or more passengers, luggage, children, pets, several stops or a destination away from a station, because the price is per vehicle and covers the trip door to door.
How long does Toronto to Niagara Falls take by car?
Downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls is about 128 km (79 mi), roughly an hour and a half on a clear road, longer at rush hour and on summer weekends. From Toronto Pearson to the Fallsview hotel district is a fixed US$315 in a business sedan. Toronto and the GTA run on the Elly8 fleet.
Do you offer one-way long distance trips?
Yes. One-way city to city rides are the most common long distance booking: Manhattan to Boston, Beverly Hills to Las Vegas, Toronto to Montreal. Unlike a one-way rental, there is no vehicle to return and nothing to arrange at the other end.
Can a long distance ride be booked for the same day?
Often, yes, depending on vehicle availability in the pickup city. Enter the trip in the web booker to see the fixed price and availability, or call the 24/7 desk for very short notice. For Friday and holiday travel, booking a few days ahead gives you the widest choice of vehicles.
