A San Diego Sprinter van rental through Elly8.net means a Mercedes-Benz Executive Sprinter with a professional chauffeur, not a self-drive van. It seats up to 12 passengers with room for 12 bags, and the price is fixed per vehicle: US$325 from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to the Gaslamp Quarter, US$200 an hour as directed with a 3-hour minimum, and US$1,475 for the 8-hour Temecula Valley wine day.
That works out at about US$27 a head for a group of 12 on the airport run, which is why the Sprinter is the default for teams, wedding parties and families travelling together. This guide covers the price list, how to decide between one van and two SUVs, the trips San Diego groups book most often, and what to tell the desk so the day runs to plan.
How much does a Sprinter van with a driver cost in San Diego?
An Elly8.net Executive Sprinter in San Diego costs US$325 one way between SAN and the Gaslamp Quarter, US$620 for the round trip, US$715 from McClellan-Palomar (CRQ), US$200 an hour as directed (3-hour minimum, so US$600) and US$1,475 for the 8-hour Temecula wine day. Every price is per vehicle, fixed and all-in.
All-in means the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, the standard gratuity and airport meet and greet are included. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Airport fares are the same fixed price in either direction, so a group heading home from the Gaslamp to SAN pays the same US$325.

The San Diego Sprinter price list, per van and per person
The figures below are the published Executive Sprinter prices on the San Diego price list. The per-person column simply divides the van price by a full load of 12, to show what a group really pays.
| Sprinter booking | Price per van | Per person, 12 riders | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| SAN to the Gaslamp Quarter, one way | US$325 | about US$27 | Team or family arrival |
| SAN round trip to the Gaslamp | US$620 | about US$52 | Arrival and departure day |
| CRQ (Carlsbad) to the Gaslamp, one way | US$715 | about US$60 | Private and charter flights into North County |
| By the hour, as directed | US$200 an hour, 3-hour minimum | from US$50 for 3 hours | Dinners, site visits, multi-stop days |
| Private city highlights tour | US$800 | about US$67 | Balboa Park, Old Town, Coronado, La Jolla |
| Evening out and event night | US$1,000 | about US$83 | Petco Park, dinners, celebrations |
| Full-day chauffeur | US$1,475 | about US$123 | Your own route all day |
| Temecula Valley wineries, 8 hours | US$1,475 | about US$123 | Wine day with no designated driver |
| Corporate roadshow day | US$1,800 | about US$150 | Investor and client meetings |
The math changes if the group is smaller. Six people in a Sprinter on the airport run pay about US$54 each; six people in a Business SUV pay US$165 for the vehicle, or US$27.50 each. That is the first decision to make.
One Sprinter or two SUVs?
A Business SUV seats up to 6 with 6 bags, so two of them carry the same 12 people as one Sprinter. On paper the prices are close: two Business SUVs from SAN to the Gaslamp cost US$330, against US$325 for one Sprinter. By the hour, two Business SUVs are US$250 an hour against US$200 for the van.
Choose one Sprinter when:
- The group must arrive together. A wedding party, a speaking team or a client group that walks into a venue as one.
- There are many bags or cases. Twelve full-size bags fit in the van; a team with sample cases or golf bags should tell the desk the count.
- The day has several stops. One chauffeur, one vehicle and one set of instructions is simpler than coordinating two cars at every kerb.
Choose two SUVs when:
- The group splits during the day. Half goes to La Jolla, half stays downtown.
- Some riders leave early. An SUV can take the first wave back to the hotel or the airport while the second stays on.
- The pickup points are tight. A full-size SUV turns and stops more easily on narrow residential streets than a tall van.
For 13 to 24 people, the desk books two Sprinters on one reservation and times them to travel together. Our group transportation page explains how multi-vehicle bookings work, and the fleet page lists seats and luggage for every vehicle class.
Executive Sprinter or Jet Sprinter?
The Executive Sprinter is the 12-seat workhorse. The Jet Sprinter has a VIP cabin with captain's chairs for up to 6 passengers and 4 bags. It suits a small executive group, a band or a couple of families who want space to work or relax between stops. The Jet Sprinter is priced in the web booker for your route and date.
The trips San Diego groups book most
Airport arrivals at SAN and CRQ
SAN is unusually close to downtown: about 3 mi (6 km) to the Gaslamp, roughly 7 minutes on a clear road. The short distance does not mean a short wait for a group trying to find two or three app cars at the Transportation Plazas in front of the terminals. With a pre-booked Sprinter, the chauffeur tracks the flight and meets the group inside arrivals with a name board, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing.
McClellan-Palomar Airport (CRQ) in Carlsbad is about 34 mi (55 km) north, roughly 45 minutes on a clear road, and is popular for charter and private flights. The Sprinter fare to the Gaslamp is US$715; many CRQ groups are staying in Carlsbad or Del Mar, which the web booker quotes directly. For FBO arrivals, see private jet and FBO car service.
Comic-Con week
Comic-Con 2027 runs July 22 to 25, with Preview Night on July 21, according to Comic-Con International. It is the busiest week of the year for group transport in San Diego. Studio teams, exhibitors and guests staying outside downtown commonly hold a Sprinter by the hour to loop between hotels, the convention centre and evening events. Book early, and expect the desk to agree pickup points a block or two away from the busiest corners each day. Our conference transportation page covers daily loops for exhibitors.
Temecula Valley wine days
The signature San Diego day trip is the 8-hour Temecula Valley wineries package: US$1,475 in the Executive Sprinter, collecting the group in town, driving inland to Temecula in Riverside County and waiting at each stop. Temecula Valley Winegrowers lists member wineries and tasting rooms; make your tasting appointments, send the desk the order, and the chauffeur times the day. The chauffeur follows local rules on alcohol in the vehicle. Read more on wine tours by chauffeured car.
Petco Park and nights out
On game nights at Petco Park, traffic around East Village and the convention centre slows at the same time. A van that drops the group at an agreed corner and waits at another beats a dozen people trying to find app rides after the last out. The evening out and event night package is US$1,000 for the Sprinter. See sports event transportation.
Weddings and celebrations
A Sprinter is the standard guest shuttle between hotels, a ceremony site and a reception, and it carries the wedding party when the couple rides separately. The San Diego wedding limo guide walks through a full wedding-day timeline, and the San Diego limo bus guide compares the Sprinter with party buses and stretch SUVs for celebrations.
Local know-how for a 12-seat day in San Diego
San Diego is spread out, and the drive times between favourite stops matter more for a group than for a couple. A few planning notes from the desk:
- Downtown is compact, the county is not. The Gaslamp, Little Italy and the waterfront hotels are minutes apart. La Jolla, Del Mar and Carlsbad are north on the interstate, and Temecula is well inland. Build the hours around the longest leg.
- Coronado is over the bridge. A day that includes the Hotel del Coronado and the beach adds a bridge crossing each way; plan it as its own block of time.
- La Jolla parking is tight. The village and the coves are popular and street space is limited, so the chauffeur will usually drop the group at an agreed point and wait or circle nearby rather than park at the door.
- Balboa Park has many entrances. Balboa Park is large and its museums sit at different ends; tell the desk which museum or garden comes first.
- Convention weeks change the kerbs. Harbor Drive and the streets around the convention centre slow or close for big shows. On those days the desk confirms pickup points the evening before.
An hourly chauffeur booking keeps the van with the group between all of these, and the Sprinter van with driver service page explains what the chauffeur does during the waits.
Questions to ask any Sprinter provider
Whoever you book, these questions protect the group:
- Is the price per vehicle and fixed? Ask whether gratuity, taxes and airport meet and greet are included, and what is billed at cost. With Elly8.net, tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are the only extras.
- Who operates the vehicle? Rides in San Diego are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. In California, charter carriers are licensed by the California Public Utilities Commission, which issues TCP permits.
- How old is the van? Partner vehicles booked through Elly8.net are 4 model years old or newer.
- What happens if the flight is late? Every airport pickup is flight-tracked, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing.
- What is the cancellation policy? Ours is free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show, with refunds to the original card.
How to book a San Diego Sprinter
- Pickup and drop-off. Choose a route or package from the price list, or enter any address in the web booker. Add the flight number for an airport pickup and the passenger and bag counts.
- Vehicle. Choose the Executive Sprinter, or two Business SUVs if the group will split.
- Reserve. Press Reserve now on a listed price and pay securely, or complete the web booker. Confirmation arrives by email, with the chauffeur's details before pickup.
For a multi-day programme or a recurring team schedule, a corporate account adds monthly invoicing. Planners comparing options across a whole trip can also look at our Uber at San Diego airport guide and all prices and packages.
Many groups continue up the coast. A Sprinter to Orange County or Los Angeles, or inland to Palm Springs, is quoted as one fixed price by the city to city car service. Frequently asked questions
How many people fit in a Sprinter van in San Diego?
The Executive Sprinter seats up to 12 passengers with room for 12 bags. The Jet Sprinter seats up to 6 in captain's chairs with 4 bags. For more than 12, book two Sprinters on one reservation and the desk times them to travel together, or pair a Sprinter with a Business SUV.
Is it cheaper to book one Sprinter or two SUVs?
From SAN to the Gaslamp they are almost the same: US$325 for one Sprinter, US$330 for two Business SUVs. By the hour the Sprinter is cheaper, at US$200 an hour against US$250 for two SUVs. Two SUVs make sense when the group splits up during the day.
Can a Sprinter pick us up at San Diego airport?
Yes. The chauffeur tracks your flight and meets the group inside arrivals at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 with a name board, then walks everyone to the van. SAN to the Gaslamp is US$325 fixed in either direction, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing.
Do you need a minimum number of hours?
Hourly bookings have a 3-hour minimum, so the smallest as-directed Sprinter booking is US$600. Airport transfers, the city tour, the evening package, the full day and the Temecula wine day are fixed packages and do not need an hourly calculation.
Can we drink wine in the van on a Temecula tour?
The chauffeur follows local rules on alcohol in the vehicle, and those rules differ by place and by vehicle type. Plan the tastings at the wineries themselves. The 8-hour Temecula package means nobody in the group has to drive, which is the point of booking it.
How far ahead should we book for Comic-Con?
As early as you can. Comic-Con 2027 runs July 22 to 25, with Preview Night on July 21, and group vehicles are in demand all week. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, so booking early keeps your options open.
