A Manchester car service booked through Elly8.net is a private chauffeur and vehicle at a fixed, all-in price, quoted and charged in US dollars before you fly. A Manchester Airport (MAN) transfer to the city centre starts at US$120 in a business sedan and runs to US$315 in an Executive Sprinter, with the chauffeur waiting in arrivals with your name, tracking your flight and holding on at no extra cost if the landing is late.
Rides in Manchester are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. For many North American visitors, Manchester means football: Manchester City at the Etihad and Manchester United at Old Trafford. It is also the north of England's business capital, a conference city and the gateway to the Lake District. This page covers the airport, the districts, match days and arena nights, and an honest look at the train, the tram and the black cab rank.
How much is a car service from Manchester Airport to the city centre?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Manchester Airport to the city centre costs from US$120 in a business sedan, US$160 in a business SUV, US$195 in a First Class SUV, US$210 in a First Class Sedan and US$315 in an Executive Sprinter. The price is per vehicle and includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet.
All Elly8.net prices are in US dollars. A round trip from Manchester Airport and back costs from US$230 in a business sedan, US$305 in a business SUV and US$600 in an Executive Sprinter for a family or a group of supporters.
The clear-road drive from MAN to the city centre is about 17 km (10 mi) and around 24 minutes, north on the M56 and the A5103 Princess Road, or via the Mancunian Way. Weekday rush hours on the M56 and the M60 can stretch that to 45 minutes or more, and match days add their own queues around the stadiums. The fixed fare does not change with the clock.
Manchester Airport: terminals, arrivals and departures
Terminals. Manchester Airport now operates from Terminal 2, the larger, rebuilt main terminal, and Terminal 3, with the railway and tram station, called The Station, between them. Your chauffeur tracks the flight number on your booking and waits in the arrivals area of your terminal with a name board once you have cleared the border and collected your bags. Transatlantic flights tend to arrive in the early morning and border queues vary, so waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. See airport meet and greet and airport transfers.
Departures. For a long-haul flight home, a city-centre pickup about three and a half hours before departure is a sensible default; the M56 at the morning peak is the main variable, and we will suggest a time when you book.
Private aviation. Business aircraft are handled by the private aviation operators at the airport. Give us the handler and the tail number and the chauffeur meets you there; see private jet and FBO transfers.
The train, the tram, a black cab or Elly8.net
Manchester Airport has its own railway station, and for some travellers the train is simply the best answer. These are the airport's published numbers.
| Option | Price (airport to city centre) | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Train to Manchester Piccadilly | rail fare, cheaper booked ahead | about 20 min, every 10 min, last train about 01:34 | One traveller, light bag, hotel near Piccadilly |
| Metrolink tram | tram fare, tickets from platform machines | slower than the train, every 12 min | Budget trips, hotels near a tram stop |
| Black cab from the rank | metered within the Manchester licensed area | 25 to 45 min | Walk-up trips, no booking |
| Rideshare (Uber) | Varies with demand | App pickup at the airport | Light travellers comfortable with app pickups |
| Elly8.net business sedan | US$120 fixed, per vehicle | Door to door, met inside | Families, groups, early arrivals, match days, a fixed budget in US$ |
According to Manchester Airport, trains to Manchester Piccadilly take around 20 minutes and run every 10 minutes, seven days a week, with TransPennine Express and Northern; the station is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the terminals. The Metrolink tram runs every 12 minutes from the same station and takes longer. If you are alone with a carry-on and staying near Piccadilly, the train beats any car.
Licensed black cabs work from ranks outside both terminals and at The Station, and within the Manchester licensed area fares are shown on the meter, according to the airport's taxi page. App-based private hire, including Uber, also serves the airport.
A pre-booked chauffeur makes sense when the trip is more than one person and a bag: a family of four with cases and a stroller after an overnight flight, a group of supporters heading to their hotel before a match, an executive going straight to a meeting in Spinningfields, or anyone landing late who does not want to drag luggage from Piccadilly to a hotel. A fixed US$120 sedan, or a US$315 Sprinter for the whole group, is one known number. See chauffeur vs taxi, chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft and Uber Black vs a pre-booked chauffeur.
Driving on the left in Greater Manchester
England drives on the left, and Manchester's centre is a dense mix of one-way streets, tram lines running through the streets, bus gates and expensive parking. Add a motorway ring, the M60, and the M56 and M62 junctions, and most North American visitors are happier leaving the driving to someone who does it every day. Tolls and parking on Elly8.net bookings are billed at cost, never marked up. Our chauffeur vs car rental guide sets out the trade-offs.
Where our Manchester chauffeurs spend their days
The city centre, Deansgate and Spinningfields. The fares on this page are calculated to the city centre. Deansgate is the spine of it, Spinningfields beside it is the main business and legal district, and St Peter's Square and the Town Hall area hold the civic and financial offices. Most of the city's leading hotels are within a few minutes of each other here.
Piccadilly, the Northern Quarter and Ancoats. East of the centre, Piccadilly station is the arrival point for trains from London, and the Northern Quarter and Ancoats are the city's restaurant and nightlife districts. The evening out and event night package costs from US$425 in a business sedan to US$850 in a Sprinter; see train station transfers for Piccadilly pickups.
Salford Quays and MediaCityUK. West along the Ship Canal, MediaCityUK is home to major broadcasters and production companies. Crews and talent working there can use our film, TV and production transportation service, and Salford Quays is only a short drive from Old Trafford.
Etihad, Old Trafford, Co-op Live and Manchester Central
The Etihad Stadium. Manchester City play at the Etihad Stadium on the Etihad Campus, a short drive east of the centre. Stadium tours run on most non-match days; details at Manchester City. On match days the surrounding roads close and the tram fills, so our chauffeurs drop and collect at agreed points outside the closures.
Co-op Live. Next to the Etihad, Co-op Live is the UK's largest indoor arena, with about 23,500 capacity, and on a night when there is a match and a concert on the same campus, traffic around Ashton New Road is heavy. Plan your pickup point with the desk in advance. The city's other big arena, the AO Arena, sits beside Victoria station in the city centre.
Old Trafford. Manchester United play at Old Trafford, with about 74,000 seats, in Trafford, south-west of the centre. Match-day road closures around Sir Matt Busby Way are extensive. Just along the road, Emirates Old Trafford is the home of Lancashire Cricket and hosts international matches in summer. For both, see sports event transportation and concert transportation.
Manchester Central. Manchester Central, the convention complex in the former Central railway station off Deansgate, hosts party political conferences, medical congresses and trade shows. A conference transportation booking covers delegate shuttles from the airport in Executive Sprinters and a car on call for speakers or executives.
The Grand National and other dates
The Randox Grand National Festival at Aintree, in north Liverpool, runs 8 to 10 April 2027, according to The Jockey Club. Aintree is about 59 km (37 mi) from central Manchester, around 50 minutes on a clear road, and race-day traffic on the approach roads is slow. A chauffeur who drops you at the right gate and collects you after the last race is a common booking for the Saturday. For gala dinners, award nights and private events in the city, see event transportation. Visit Manchester publishes the official city events calendar.
The Lake District, the signature day trip
The signature Manchester day trip is the Lake District, a 10-hour day north to Lake District National Park. Windermere is about 134 km (83 mi) from the city centre, around an hour and forty minutes on a clear road via the M6, and from there the chauffeur takes you through the lakes and fells - Ambleside, Grasmere, the high passes when the weather allows - before the drive home in the evening. It costs from US$785 in a business sedan, US$1,015 in a business SUV and US$1,565 in an Executive Sprinter for a family or group, all-in.
Closer to home, a private city tour of Manchester's Victorian centre, the canals, the stadiums and Salford Quays costs from US$340 in a business sedan to US$680 in a Sprinter, with the chauffeur waiting while you walk. Liverpool, Chester and the Peak District can be planned on a full-day chauffeur, from US$630 in a business sedan to US$1,255 in a Sprinter, or as Manchester car service by the hour at US$85 an hour in a business sedan up to US$170 in a Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum.

For weddings in Manchester and in the country-house venues of Cheshire, an Executive Sprinter with driver moves guests while a First Class Sedan carries the couple; see wedding limousine and guest shuttles. Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from Manchester Airport to the city centre?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Manchester Airport to the city centre costs from US$120 in a business sedan, US$160 in a business SUV, US$210 in a First Class Sedan and US$315 in an Executive Sprinter. The price is per vehicle and includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Where will my chauffeur meet me at Manchester Airport?
In the arrivals area of your terminal, Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, holding a name board, after you clear the border and collect your bags. The chauffeur tracks your flight from the number on your booking, and waiting is complimentary after a tracked landing, so a slow passport queue is not a problem.
Is the train cheaper than a car from Manchester Airport?
For one person, yes. Trains to Manchester Piccadilly take around 20 minutes and run every 10 minutes. For a family or a group with luggage, a late arrival, or a hotel away from Piccadilly, a fixed US$120 car door to door is often comparable and much simpler, with no change of vehicle.
Can you get us to an Etihad or Old Trafford match?
Yes. The chauffeur drops you outside the match-day closures and collects you from a point agreed in advance, so you avoid the crush for trams and taxis at the final whistle. An Executive Sprinter carries a group as one vehicle, and the evening out and event night package costs from US$425 in a business sedan.
Are child seats available in Manchester?
Yes. Request child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. That saves carrying seats across the Atlantic and means the car is ready the moment you walk out of arrivals.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or for a no-show 100%. Refunds go to the original card. If your flight is cancelled or diverted, message the 24/7 desk and we move the transfer.
How long is the Lake District day trip?
The signature Lake District package is a 10-hour day. Windermere is about 134 km (83 mi) from Manchester, around an hour and forty minutes on a clear road, and the rest of the day is spent among the lakes and fells. It costs from US$785 in a business sedan to US$1,565 in an Executive Sprinter.
Can my company open an account?
Yes. Corporate accounts get monthly invoicing, fixed US-dollar fares, one desk for all 141 cities and NDAs on request. That suits companies with regular visitors to Spinningfields, MediaCityUK or Manchester Central. Apply on the corporate accounts page and the desk sets up your travellers and billing.
