A Lake Como car service booked through Elly8.net is a private driver at a fixed, all-in price set before you fly, charged to your card in US dollars. Milan Malpensa (MXP) to Bellagio and the lake towns starts at US$320 in a business sedan and runs to US$835 in an Executive Sprinter; Milan Linate (LIN) starts at US$315. Your chauffeur tracks the flight and meets you in arrivals with a name board.
Rides on Lake Como are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Lake Como has no airport of its own, so almost every stay starts with the drive from Milan. This page covers that drive from both airports, the shore roads and why a local driver matters on them, how to combine the car with the lake's ferries, the villas and towns, days out to Switzerland and the Alps, and an honest comparison with the train and a taxi.
How much is a transfer from Malpensa to Lake Como?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Milan Malpensa (MXP) to Bellagio and the lake towns costs from US$320 in a business sedan, US$420 in a business SUV and US$835 in an Executive Sprinter. From Linate (LIN), from US$315. Prices are per vehicle and include the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet; tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Bellagio, on the point where the lake's three arms meet, is the reference point for these fares, which are published for Bellagio and the lake towns; for an address you are unsure about, the web booker confirms the fixed price before you pay. Malpensa is about 78 km (48 mi) from Bellagio, roughly 87 minutes on a clear road; Linate is about 75 km (47 mi), roughly 75 minutes. The last stretch along the shore is slow at any time of day, and slower on summer weekends. Your fare is fixed regardless.
From Malpensa or Linate: the drive to the lake
| Airport | Distance to Bellagio | Clear-road drive | Business Sedan | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Milan Malpensa (MXP) | 78 km / 48 mi | about 87 min | from US$320 | US$560 | US$835 |
| Milan Linate (LIN) | 75 km / 47 mi | about 75 min | from US$315 | US$555 | US$820 |
Malpensa (MXP). Nonstop flights from North America to Milan land at Malpensa, north-west of the city, which makes it the usual airport for a Lake Como trip. Malpensa is actually on the Como side of Milan: Como town is about 50 km (31 mi) from the airport, roughly 47 minutes on a clear road, so the drive avoids the city centre altogether. Give us your flight number and terminal, Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, and the chauffeur tracks the landing and waits in arrivals with your name. Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. Round trips cost from US$610 in a business sedan to US$1,590 in a Sprinter. Book a Malpensa transfer and see meet and greet for how the meeting works.
Linate (LIN). Milan's city airport handles domestic and European flights, so it is the airport for a connection through a European hub or a hop from Rome. Fares to Bellagio start at US$315 in a business sedan, US$410 in a business SUV and US$820 in a Sprinter, with round trips from US$600.
Stopping in Milan on the way. Many travellers spend a few days in Milan first. Book our Milan chauffeur service for the city and a separate fixed transfer to the lake, or use the web booker for a Milan hotel to Bellagio drive.
Narrow lake roads and why a local driver matters
The roads along Lake Como's shores were built long before tour coaches and SUVs. They run through tunnels and village centres, with tight bends, stretches where two large vehicles struggle to pass, local buses and very little parking in the towns. Bellagio itself is reached by a winding road along the lake. A driver who does this every week knows where a Sprinter can turn, where a hotel's gate is, how long the shore road really takes on a Saturday in July and when the hill route is the better choice.
It also matters at your hotel. Several of the lake's best-known hotels sit right on the water with small forecourts, and some villages are pedestrian at their core. Give us the exact hotel when you book, and the partner plans the drop-off for your vehicle size. For a family with luggage, a Business SUV is usually the right balance between space and manoeuvrability on these roads; a group of seven or more needs the Executive Sprinter, and the desk will tell you if a hotel's access calls for two smaller cars instead.
Lake Como is also a poor place for a first-time self-drive visit: unfamiliar roads, limited parking and the time lost looking for it. Compare on chauffeur vs renting a car.
Car and boat: using the lake's ferries
On Lake Como the boat is part of the itinerary, not a separate trip. Navigazione Laghi, the public lake operator, runs passenger boats between the lake towns and a car ferry that links Bellagio, Cadenabbia, Varenna and Menaggio across the centre of the lake. Check the operator's notices before you travel: in late October 2026 it suspended car service at the Varenna pier for urgent structural works, with the passenger terminal still in use.
A good day combines the two. The chauffeur drops you at a pier in the morning, you cross by boat to Varenna or Menaggio, and the car meets you later at another town after driving round, or takes the car ferry where it is running. Tell the desk your plan and the timings; an hourly booking or a full-day chauffeur keeps the car with you. Booking tip: the ferries are scheduled, so build your car pickups around the boat times rather than the other way round.
Villas, towns and things to do
- Bellagio. The lake's best-known town, with lakeside promenades and the gardens of its villas. The Bellagio tourist portal lists what is open.
- Cernobbio and Villa d'Este. On the western shore just north of Como, about 7 km (4 mi) from Como town and about 36 km (22 mi) from Bellagio, around 46 minutes on a clear road. Villa d'Este is the historic hotel here, and Cernobbio's villas host the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este car show; check the organiser for the 2027 dates.
- Villa del Balbianello. The villa on its own peninsula at Tremezzina, run by the FAI, Italy's national trust. Check the FAI's visiting arrangements before you go; it pairs well with Villa Carlotta nearby.
- Varenna and Menaggio. The towns opposite Bellagio across the water, linked by ferry.
- Como town. The cathedral, the lakefront and the funicular to Brunate, at the southern tip of the lake.
The private city highlights tour costs from US$360 in a business sedan to US$720 in a Sprinter and works as a lake-towns loop with stops where you choose. To set your own pace, book Lake Como car service by the hour: US$90 an hour in a business sedan, US$115 in a business SUV, US$145 in a First Class Sedan or US$180 in a Sprinter, 3-hour minimum. See also private city tours.
Days out: Switzerland, the Alps and Milan
A full-day chauffeur costs from US$665 in a business sedan, US$850 in a business SUV, US$1,070 in a First Class Sedan and US$995 in a First Class SUV, up to US$1,325 in an Executive Sprinter. From the lake, good full days include:
- Lugano and Swiss Ticino, just over the border from the western shore. Bring passports.
- St. Moritz and the Engadine, a mountain drive over the Alps; it works best as a one-way transfer to our St. Moritz car service.
- Milan for a day of shopping in the Quadrilatero or a visit to The Last Supper, on a slot booked well ahead.
- Bergamo's upper town and the Franciacorta wineries. See wine tours.
For evenings, such as dinner in another lake town or an event at a villa, the evening out and event night package costs from US$450 in a business sedan to US$900 in a Sprinter, with the chauffeur waiting on the narrow roads so you do not have to. See event transportation.
Train, taxi or a pre-booked driver
There is a public way from Milan to the lake. Trenord runs trains from Milano Centrale to Varenna-Esino in about 64 minutes without changes, roughly every hour, and from Varenna the ferry crosses to Bellagio. From Malpensa that means the airport train into Milan first; the Malpensa Express costs €15 one way for an adult. A taxi is another option, but Milan's fixed airport taxi fares, set by the Comune di Milano, cover only routes such as Malpensa to Milan and Malpensa to Varese; a trip to the lake runs on the meter, with motorway tolls paid on top.
| Option | Price | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malpensa Express, train to Varenna, ferry to Bellagio | €15 airport train, plus regional train and ferry tickets | Several changes; allow a half day | Solo travellers with light bags |
| Taxi from Malpensa | Metered, plus motorway tolls | Same roads as any car | Spontaneous trips, small groups |
| Rideshare app | Varies with demand and availability | Depends on availability | Light travellers comfortable with apps |
| Elly8.net business sedan MXP to Bellagio | US$320 fixed, per vehicle | about 87 min clear road, door to door | Families, luggage, late arrivals, fixed budgets |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter MXP to Bellagio | US$835 fixed, per vehicle | about 87 min clear road | Groups and wedding parties |
The train and ferry route is scenic and cheap, and for one traveller with a backpack it is a fine way to arrive. With suitcases after an overnight flight, three trains or boats and two stations are a different matter. A metered taxi avoids the changes but not the uncertainty about the final figure. A pre-booked driver is the simplest arrival: one vehicle from the arrivals hall to the hotel door, child seats fitted, luggage handled once, and a fixed price in US dollars. Compare in detail on chauffeur vs taxi and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft.
Weddings, villa events and corporate retreats
Lake Como villas are a favourite setting for destination weddings and executive retreats, and both depend on moving guests reliably along roads with little parking. A typical plan uses a First Class Sedan for the couple, Executive Sprinters with driver for guests between hotels and the villa, and airport transfers spread across arrival day. See wedding transportation and group transportation.
For corporate retreats and board meetings, the corporate roadshow day costs from US$810 in a business sedan to US$1,620 in a Sprinter. A corporate account adds monthly invoicing and NDAs on request; see corporate car service. Planners, travel agents and hotel concierges book on account through travel agent accounts and hotel accounts. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley; see the fleet.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car from Malpensa to Bellagio?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer from Malpensa (MXP) to Bellagio and the lake towns costs from US$320 in a business sedan, US$420 in a business SUV, US$560 in a First Class Sedan and US$835 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
How long is the drive from Milan airports to Lake Como?
From Malpensa to Bellagio it is about 78 km (48 mi), roughly 87 minutes on a clear road; from Linate about 75 km (47 mi), roughly 75 minutes. Summer weekends and the shore roads add time. Como town is closer, about 50 km (31 mi) from Malpensa.
Does the price cover hotels other than Bellagio?
The published fares are for Bellagio and the lake towns. For any other address, such as a villa high above the lake or a hotel you are unsure about, enter it in the web booker and the desk returns a fixed price before you pay.
Where does the chauffeur meet me at Malpensa?
In the arrivals hall of your terminal, holding a name board after baggage claim. The chauffeur tracks your flight number, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, so a late landing or slow bags are covered.
Can the car use the lake's car ferry?
The public car ferry links Bellagio, Cadenabbia, Varenna and Menaggio, subject to the operator's timetable and notices. Tell the desk your plan; depending on the day, the chauffeur either crosses by ferry or drives round to meet your boat at another town.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Ask for child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages, and the partner fits them before pickup. A Business SUV fits seats, a stroller and luggage, and still handles the narrow shore roads well.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less a 10% fee applies, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds return to the original card.
Can you move wedding guests around the lake?
Yes. The desk schedules Executive Sprinters and sedans for guests between hotels, piers and the villa, and spreads airport transfers across arrival day. Send the guest list and timings through the web booker, and travel agents and planners can book on account.
