Limo transportation in San Diego is mostly about matching the vehicle to a very varied set of trips. The airport is minutes from downtown, the beaches and La Jolla are short drives with tight parking, and the best day trips, Temecula wine country and the North County coast, are an hour or more away. Elly8.net books all of it at fixed, all-in prices: San Diego International (SAN) to the Gaslamp Quarter from US$125, hourly service from US$100 an hour, and a full day from US$740.
Stretch limousines, Rolls-Royce, Maybach and party buses are quoted in the web booker for your date and route; sedans, SUVs and the 12-seat Executive Sprinter are on the fixed price list. This guide sets out the vehicles and rates, which one fits which trip, and the local booking tips that matter. Rides in San Diego are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.

Sedan, SUV or stretch? For most San Diego trips, a sedan or SUV is the practical choice: it fits hotel driveways, beach car parks and La Jolla's narrow streets. A stretch limousine is about the arrival, for a wedding, a prom or a milestone birthday. Our guide to black car vs limousine explains the trade-offs.
Which vehicle fits which trip
Airport runs. SAN is about 3 miles (6 km) from the Gaslamp, roughly 7 minutes on a clear road along Harbor Drive. The fixed fare is US$125 in a Business Sedan to US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, the same in either direction, and US$240 to US$620 round trip. McClellan-Palomar Airport (CRQ) in Carlsbad is about 34 miles (55 km) from the Gaslamp, roughly 45 minutes on a clear road, from US$275 to US$715. Most CRQ arrivals stay in North County, and the web booker prices those addresses, usually for much less. See airport transfers and, for private aviation, private jet and FBO car service.
A night in the Gaslamp or a game at Petco Park. Petco Park sits in East Village, a few blocks from the Gaslamp, and game nights slow every street around it and the convention centre. The evening out package, US$500 in a Business Sedan to US$1,000 in a Sprinter, keeps the car waiting at an agreed corner. See sports event transportation.
Coronado. The island across the bay is reached over the Coronado Bridge and is home to the Hotel del Coronado and its beach. An SUV or sedan by the hour works well for a lunch, a walk on the beach and a return downtown.
La Jolla. The coves, the village shops and the cliffs are beautiful and short on parking. A chauffeur dropping you near La Jolla Cove and collecting you later saves the circling.
Balboa Park, the zoo and the Midway. Balboa Park is a large park with many museums, and the San Diego Zoo is inside it. The USS Midway Museum is on the downtown waterfront. The private city highlights tour, US$400 in a Business Sedan to US$800 in a Sprinter, covers these with Old Town, the Coronado Bridge, Point Loma and the La Jolla coast. See private city tours.
Del Mar. The racetrack and fairgrounds draw crowds during the racing season and big events. A car by the hour with a set pickup time avoids the parking queues; check the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club calendar when planning.
Temecula wine country. The signature day trip, an 8-hour package from US$740 in a Business Sedan, US$920 in a Business SUV, US$1,105 in a First Class SUV, US$1,180 in a First Class Sedan and US$1,475 in an Executive Sprinter. Book tastings first using the winery list from Temecula Valley Winegrowers, then send the desk the order. Our wine tours page explains how the day works.
Comic-Con and conventions. Comic-Con 2027 runs July 22 to 25 at the San Diego Convention Center, with Preview Night on July 21. It is the busiest week of the year for cars in the city. Teams book a Sprinter by the hour at US$200 to move staff and talent; see conference transportation.
Corporate days. Biotech and life sciences around Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley, defence and technology firms, and the convention trade make up much of San Diego's business travel. The corporate roadshow day runs from US$900 in a Business Sedan to US$1,800 in a Sprinter, and a corporate account adds monthly invoicing.
Local tips that keep the day on time
- Airport kerbs change. SAN is rebuilding Terminal 1 in phases, according to its terminal projects page, so kerbs and roadways around Terminal 1 can shift. A chauffeur who meets you inside arrivals takes that out of your hands.
- I-5 and I-8 at rush hour. Morning and evening peaks slow the run between downtown, La Jolla and the North County coast. Allow extra time for a dinner reservation in Del Mar or Carlsbad.
- The Coronado Bridge. A beautiful drive, and a pinch point when traffic is heavy. Leave buffer for a Coronado wedding or a flight after lunch on the island.
- Game nights and convention weeks. The Gaslamp, East Village and the waterfront slow at the same time. Agree pickup corners away from the busiest blocks.
- La Jolla and beach parking. Do not plan a stretch limousine for a narrow beach street. Use a sedan or SUV, and agree a drop-off point that a vehicle can actually stop at.
- Long days need a full-day booking. If a day passes about seven hours, the full-day chauffeur package, from US$740, often costs less than the hourly rate.
Booking tips that prevent surprises
Check the operator's authority. In California, chartered limousine service is regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission as charter-party carrier service; its charter-party carriers page uses the charter of a limousine for a wedding as an example. If you book any operator directly, ask for its CPUC charter-party carrier (TCP) authority and proof of commercial insurance.
Compare totals, not hourly rates. An all-in price includes taxes and gratuity. An itemised quote may add gratuity, fuel or booking fees, or charge from the operator's garage. Our New Orleans party bus booking checklist walks through every line to look for, and it applies in any city.
Count heads and hours honestly. Book for the fullest point of the night, and build the hours backward from the last drop-off. Our limo bus planner shows the method step by step.
Mind the minimum. Hourly bookings have a three-hour minimum. For a single drop-off, a point-to-point fare from the web booker is usually cheaper.
Know the cancellation terms. Ours: free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show, refunded to the original card.
On alcohol. Rules differ by city and vehicle type, and your chauffeur follows local rules throughout. Plan the wine at the wineries, not in the car.
When public transport or an app is the better choice
Be fair to the alternatives. The airport's public transportation page describes the free San Diego Flyer between both terminals and Old Town Transit Center, and MTS Route 992, which runs every 15 minutes from 4:15 a.m. to midnight and links to downtown. For one traveller with a carry-on going downtown, that is hard to beat. An app ride at a quiet hour is fine for a short trip.
A pre-booked chauffeur earns its cost for late arrivals, families who need child seats (available on request), groups with luggage, trips to La Jolla, Coronado or North County, event nights when prices surge, and any day where the car needs to wait. Our comparisons of chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft and chauffeur vs airport shuttle go further.
Booking in three steps
- Route. Choose a fixed route or package from the price list, or enter any address and the hours in the web booker. Add a flight number for airport pickups.
- Vehicle. Pick the class that fits your group and bags; add child seats in the notes.
- Reserve. Pay with Reserve now or through the booker. Confirmation arrives by email, with the chauffeur's details before pickup.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a limo cost per hour in San Diego?
On the fixed price list, US$100 an hour in a Business Sedan, US$125 in a Business SUV, US$150 in a First Class SUV, US$160 in a First Class Sedan and US$200 in an Executive Sprinter, three-hour minimum, all-in. Stretch limousines, party buses and Rolls-Royce are quoted in the web booker for your date and route.
What is the cheapest limo transportation from San Diego airport?
A Business Sedan from SAN to the Gaslamp Quarter at US$125, fixed and all-in, with meet and greet inside arrivals and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. The same fare applies back to the airport. For other addresses, the web booker gives a fixed price before you pay.
Do we need a stretch limo, or will an SUV do?
For airport runs, beaches, La Jolla and most dinners, an SUV or sedan is more practical and fits tight streets and driveways. A stretch limousine suits weddings, proms and milestone nights where the arrival matters. For groups of nine to twelve, the Executive Sprinter is usually the best fit.
How does the Temecula wine day work?
It is an 8-hour package from US$740 in a Business Sedan to US$1,475 in an Executive Sprinter. Book your tastings, send the desk the order, and the chauffeur drives, waits at each winery and brings everyone home. The chauffeur follows local rules on alcohol in the vehicle.
Should we book early for Comic-Con?
Yes. Comic-Con 2027 runs July 22 to 25, with Preview Night on July 21, and it is the busiest week of the year for cars in San Diego. Book as soon as plans are set; the desk sets pickup points outside the busiest blocks around the convention centre and the Gaslamp.
Are child seats available?
Yes, on request. List each child's age or weight when you book so the right seats are fitted before pickup. Families heading to the zoo, Balboa Park or the beaches usually book a Business SUV, which has room for seats, a stroller and luggage.
