A shuttle from the Vegas airport is a shared van that leaves from the terminal curb and drops passengers at several Strip hotels along the way; a private car takes only your party, straight to your hotel's door, at a price fixed before you land. With Elly8.net, the private car from Harry Reid International (LAS) to the Strip is US$125 in a Business Sedan, US$165 in a Business SUV and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle and all-in.
Which one is better depends on three things: how many of you there are, how much luggage you carry and how much your time is worth on arrival. This comparison uses the airport's own rules and the taxi authority's published fares, and it says plainly when the shuttle, the taxi or the bus wins. Rides in Las Vegas booked through Elly8.net are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
Is a shuttle or a private car better from the Las Vegas airport?
For one traveller with light bags who is not in a hurry, a shared shuttle, a taxi or the RTC bus is cheaper. For three or more people, heavy luggage, child seats, late arrivals or event weeks, a pre-booked private car is usually better: it waits in baggage claim, goes direct and costs from US$125 per vehicle, fixed.

How the shared shuttles at LAS work
Harry Reid International lists its shuttle arrangements on its additional shuttles page. The essentials:
- Where they leave from. At Terminal 1, group shuttles wait on the west side of baggage claim, outside exit doors 7 to 13. At Terminal 3, they are outside on Level Zero, at the west end of the building for domestic travellers and on the east side for international travellers.
- How they run. In the airport's own words, group shuttles make multiple stops at locations along the way. The van serves several hotels on one loop.
- Who sets the price. The shuttles are run by private operators listed by the airport, and each operator sets its own fares and booking terms. The airport does not publish a shuttle fare, so check the price with the operator before you rely on it.
That multiple-stop model is the whole trade-off. The per-seat price is low because the van is shared, and the time cost is high for the same reason: you may wait for the van to load, and if your hotel is the last stop on the loop, you ride past several other driveways first.
Five ways from LAS to the Strip, side by side
| Option | What you pay | Wait at the airport | Route | Luggage and comfort |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RTC public bus (Route 108, Red Line) | Standard RTC fare | Timetable; stop at Terminal 1, Level Zero | Fixed bus route with stops | Your bags on your lap or at your feet |
| Shared shuttle | Per seat, set by the operator | Until the van loads; curb outside baggage claim | Several hotel stops | Shared van, bags in the back |
| Taxi | Zone fare US$22.25 to US$30.25, plus fees, tax and tip | Taxi line outside baggage claim | Direct | Up to the cab's capacity |
| Rideshare app | Changes with demand | Walk to the parking garage pickup area, then match | Direct | Depends on the car class |
| Elly8.net private car | US$125 sedan, US$165 SUV, US$325 Sprinter, fixed and all-in | Chauffeur already in baggage claim, flight tracked | Direct to your driveway | 2, 6 or 12 bags by class |

Cost: what each option really costs your party
The taxi. The zone fares from the airport are US$22.25 to Zone 1 (Sunset Road north to Tropicana Avenue), US$26.25 to Zone 2 (Tropicana to Flamingo) and US$30.25 to Zone 3 (Flamingo to the Stratosphere). The taxi authority adds a US$2.40 airport pickup fee, a US$3.00 card fee, a fuel surcharge and 3% excise tax. Paying by card, that is roughly US$28 to US$37 before the fuel surcharge and tip.
The shared shuttle. Priced per seat by the operator. For one person, compare the seat price with the taxi zone fare for your hotel's zone. For a group, multiply the seat price by the headcount, and the advantage shrinks quickly.
The private car. Elly8.net prices are per vehicle, and the same for every Strip hotel. Gratuity, taxes and the meet and greet are included; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
| Party | Taxi (by card, before fuel surcharge and tip) | Elly8.net private car | Private car per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 traveller | about US$28 to US$37 | US$125 Business Sedan | US$125 |
| 2 travellers | about US$28 to US$37 | US$125 Business Sedan | about US$63 |
| 4 travellers with bags | may need 2 taxis, about US$56 to US$74 | US$165 Business SUV | about US$41 |
| 6 travellers with bags | usually 2 taxis, about US$56 to US$74 | US$165 Business SUV | about US$28 |
| 10 travellers with bags | 3 or more taxis | US$325 Executive Sprinter | about US$33 |
The fair conclusion: on cost alone, one or two travellers should take the taxi, the shuttle or the bus. From four people with luggage upward, the private car closes most of the gap, and once tips and the extra taxis are counted, a full SUV or Sprinter is in the same range per person.
Wait time: where the minutes go
On a busy afternoon, arrival time at LAS is lost in four places: the walk to the right curb or garage level, the queue, the loading, and the stops on the way.
- Shuttle. You find the shuttle curb, buy or show your ticket, wait for the van to fill and then ride the loop. If your hotel is the first stop, it is a good deal. If it is the fifth, it is a long ride after a long flight.
- Taxi. The taxi line moves steadily, but when several flights land together it can be long.
- Rideshare. The walk to the parking garage pickup area, then the wait for a driver, and a price that rises with demand at the same peaks.
- Private car. The chauffeur tracks your flight, waits in baggage claim with a name board, and walks you to the car. Complimentary waiting starts from the tracked landing. The time you spend between the bag belt and the car is the walk itself.
This year, every option shares one delay: the airport connector tunnels are running with reduced lanes for repaving through December 2026, so allow extra time whichever way you go. Our Las Vegas airport to the Strip guide explains the lane pattern.
Comfort, luggage and children
A shared shuttle is a van with strangers and a pile of bags in the back. That is fine for a traveller with a backpack, and harder for a family with a stroller, a car seat and four suitcases. With a walk-up shuttle or a taxi, a child seat is something to ask about at the curb; with Elly8.net, child seats are available on request, fitted before the chauffeur leaves for the airport.
Bags are the other deciding factor. A Business Sedan takes 2 bags, a Business SUV 6 and an Executive Sprinter 12. Golf bags and show cases go in the notes. If you are a group of eight or more, our Las Vegas Sprinter van rental guide has the per-person numbers.
The verdict, case by case
| Traveller | Our honest pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Solo, carry-on, midday, not in a hurry | RTC bus or shared shuttle | Cheapest, and time is not the issue |
| Solo or couple, light bags, quiet hour | Taxi | Direct, published zone fares |
| Couple landing after midnight | Private car, Business Sedan US$125 | Car waiting in baggage claim, no garage walk |
| Family of four with a child seat | Private car, Business SUV US$165 | Seat fitted in advance, bags fit |
| Six golfers with clubs | Private car, Executive Sprinter US$325 | Clubs and bags in one vehicle |
| Executive arriving for CES or a client meeting | Private car, First Class Sedan US$220 | Fixed time, no queue, invoice on account |
We are a booking desk for private cars, and we still say it plainly: if you are one person with a small bag and time to spare, save the money. A pre-booked chauffeur wins when you are a group with luggage, when you land late, when children need seats, during CES, race week or a big fight weekend, and when the arrival itself matters.
The return trip: shuttle back to LAS or a booked car?
The departure leg changes the comparison slightly. A shared shuttle back to the airport collects passengers from several hotels, so your pickup time is set by the loop, which can mean leaving earlier than you would choose. A taxi from the hotel rank is quick at most hours but meets the same checkout queues as everyone else. A booked car arrives at your hotel's arrival area at the time you chose, takes your bags and goes straight to your terminal, Terminal 1 or Terminal 3.
If you are booking a private car anyway, the round trip, from US$240 in a Business Sedan, fixes both legs at once. First-time visitors who want help inside the terminal can add the full airport meet and greet, and our Las Vegas airport limo guide walks through the arrival step by step. Frequently asked questions
How much is a shuttle from the Las Vegas airport to the Strip?
Shared shuttles at LAS are run by private operators listed by the airport, and each sets its own per-seat fare, so check with the operator when you book. For comparison, the published taxi zone fares are US$22.25 to US$30.25 plus fees, and an Elly8.net private car is US$125 per vehicle, all-in.
Where do I catch the airport shuttle at LAS?
At Terminal 1, group shuttles leave from the west side of baggage claim, outside exit doors 7 to 13. At Terminal 3, they are on Level Zero, at the west end for domestic travellers and the east side for international travellers, according to the airport.
Does the shuttle go straight to my hotel?
Not usually. The airport describes group shuttles as making multiple stops along the way, so your hotel may be one of several on the loop. A taxi or a private car goes direct; an Elly8.net chauffeur takes you to your own hotel's arrival area.
Is a private car worth it for a family?
Usually, yes. A Business SUV from LAS to the Strip is US$165 for up to six people and six bags, with a child seat fitted on request before pickup, and everyone and every bag travels in one vehicle instead of two taxis.
What is the cheapest way from the Las Vegas airport to the Strip?
The RTC public bus, which stops at Terminal 1 on Level Zero; Route 108 and the Red Line serve the airport, and Terminal 3 passengers take the free inter-terminal shuttle to reach it. It is slower and has stops, so it suits solo travellers with light bags.
Can I book a private car for the return to the airport too?
Yes. The LAS round trip to the Strip is listed from US$240 in a Business Sedan to US$620 in an Executive Sprinter, covering your arrival and the drive back on departure day, both at fixed, all-in prices booked together.
