A pre-booked Elly8.net car from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Vail Village is a flat rate, fixed before you fly: US$715 in a Business Sedan, US$930 in a Business SUV and US$1,860 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in with the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet. The drive is about 121 miles (194 km) west on I-70, around 2 hours 30 minutes on a clear road and longer on a snowy Saturday.
This guide walks through the arrival in order: what to put in the booking, where the chauffeur meets you inside the terminal, how a late flight is handled, which vehicle fits your bags, what happens on the road, and how the flat rate compares with the meter, the app and the shared van. Rides in Vail are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.

Each price is per vehicle, fixed and all-in. The round trip starts at US$1,360.

Capacities are from the Elly8.net fleet page. The fare is the same in either direction, so Vail Village back to DEN is the same fixed price. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Lionshead, East Vail and West Vail addresses, and Beaver Creek, Avon and Edwards, are priced in the web booker when you enter the address.
Step 1: what to put in the booking
The booking does most of the work before you land. Include:
- The flight number, not just the time. The desk tracks the flight, so an early or late landing moves the pickup automatically.
- Every bag, including ski and snowboard bags and boot bags. Ski bags decide the vehicle more than suitcases do.
- The exact lodge name and address in Vail. Vail Village and Lionshead are pedestrian cores, and the chauffeur uses each lodge's own entrance or the nearest permitted loading point.
- Child seats, with each child's age and weight. They are available on request and fitted before pickup.
- Any stops: a grocery run, a ski rental shop, a friend to collect in Denver. Multi-stop transfers are a standard booking.
Step 2: landing at DEN and meeting your driver
Denver International is a large airport, so allow time between the gate and baggage claim in the Jeppesen Terminal. Your chauffeur meets you inside the terminal at baggage claim, holding a name board, and you get the chauffeur's details before you fly.
Once your bags are off the carousel, the chauffeur walks you out to the vehicle. Denver International's limousine page says pre-arranged limousines check in at the limo booth outside Jeppesen Terminal on Level 5, island 2, outside doors 505 to 507 and 511 to 513 on the east side, and 504 to 506 and 510 to 512 on the west side. That is where pre-booked cars load. The airport's ground transportation overview lists the other pickups on Level 5 as well: taxis at island 3, Uber and Lyft at island 5, ordered after you collect your luggage.
If you cannot find the chauffeur, call or message the number in your confirmation rather than walking outside. The 24/7 desk can see where the chauffeur is and guide you together.
Step 3: delays, de-icing and waiting time
Winter flights into Denver are delayed for reasons that have nothing to do with you: storms at the hub you are connecting through, de-icing queues, gate holds. Because the flight is tracked, the chauffeur adjusts to the actual landing, and complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing, which covers the walk from the gate and the wait at the carousel for oversized ski bags.
If the flight is cancelled or diverted, tell the desk as soon as you know so the pickup can be planned around the new flight. Extended waiting beyond the included time is billed at cost.
Step 4: matching the vehicle to your bags
For Vail, the vehicle is chosen by luggage as much as by people.
- Business Sedan or First Class Sedan: up to 3 passengers and 2 bags. Fine for a couple travelling light in summer. Ski bags do not fit well in a sedan trunk.
- Business SUV or First Class SUV: up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. The standard winter choice for a family or a group of four with skis.
- Executive Sprinter: up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. One vehicle for a ski group, a corporate team or two families sharing a home. See Sprinter van with driver.
Because the price is per vehicle, the Sprinter is often the best value for a large group. Six people with six suitcases and six ski bags have twelve bags, more than one SUV holds: two Business SUVs cost US$1,860, and one Executive Sprinter costs the same US$1,860 with room to spare. For eight or more, the Sprinter is the clear choice.
Step 5: the drive from DEN to Vail
Leaving the airport, the route runs out on Peña Boulevard and across the metro area to I-70, then west into the foothills. It climbs past Idaho Springs and Georgetown, goes under the Continental Divide through the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel, drops into Summit County past Silverthorne and Frisco, and climbs again over Vail Pass before descending into Vail.
On a clear road that is about 2 hours 30 minutes. Three things stretch it:
Weekend peaks. Discover Vail names Fridays westbound and Sundays eastbound as the peak travel days on I-70. A Friday afternoon landing meets the busiest westbound traffic of the week.
The Traction Law. The Colorado Department of Transportation's Traction Law applies on I-70 from Morrison to Dotsero between September 1 and May 31, or whenever conditions require, and calls for winter or all-weather rated tires with at least 3/16 inch of tread, or chains or an approved traction device. Partner vehicles on the corridor are set up for it.
Closures. When CDOT closes I-70 for a crash or a storm, every vehicle waits. Discover Vail notes that closures can last several hours or even overnight in extreme cases. The desk watches COtrip before and during the trip, and the chauffeur decides when to wait and when to divert. The flat rate does not change.
For a mile-by-mile view of the route, the stops worth making and the best times to leave, see our Denver to Vail by private car guide.
Step 6: arriving in Vail
The chauffeur takes you to the lodge's own entrance or the nearest permitted loading point, unloads the bags and, where the lodge allows, hands them to the bell staff. If you are staying in a private home, send the gate code and any parking instructions with the booking. In heavy snow, a steep driveway may not be safe for a large vehicle; the chauffeur will stop at the nearest safe point and help with the bags.
Flat rate or metered: the other ways from DEN to Vail
| Option | How it is priced | Where you board | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mountain carrier shuttle | per seat, set by the operator | DEN Level 5 | solo travellers and couples on a budget |
| Bustang or Pegasus | per seat, after the A Line to Union Station | Denver Union Station | light travellers with time |
| Taxi | metered | DEN Level 5, island 3 | short notice |
| Rideshare (Uber, Lyft) | app price, varies with demand | DEN Level 5, island 5 | short notice, if a driver accepts the long run |
| Elly8.net private car | flat rate per vehicle, from US$715 | inside at baggage claim | families, groups, late flights, winter |
Shared mountain shuttles. Denver International lists mountain carriers that run pre-arranged, charter and some on-demand shuttles to the resorts, with pickups on Level 5, and recommends reservations. A shared seat is far cheaper than a private car for one person, but it runs on a schedule and usually stops at other lodges first. Our chauffeur vs shared airport shuttle comparison covers the trade-off.
State buses. CDOT's Pegasus van service runs from Denver Union Station to the Vail Transportation Center and Avon, and the Bustang West Line also stops at Vail. Neither starts at the airport, so you take the A Line to Union Station first. It is the cheapest way to Vail and a fair choice for a light traveller with time.
Taxi and rideshare. A metered or app-priced fare over 121 miles of mountain interstate is a large and unpredictable number, and app drivers may not accept a run that leaves them in the mountains. See chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft.
The flat-rate car wins when you are four or more, carrying skis, travelling with children, landing late or on a Friday afternoon, or simply want one number agreed in advance.
Should you fly into Eagle instead?
Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) is about 36 miles from Vail Village, about 46 minutes on a clear road, and an Elly8.net car from Eagle starts at US$320. If the airfare difference is small, Eagle saves more than an hour and a half of mountain driving each way. If Denver saves a lot, or the Eagle schedule does not suit, the DEN flat rate makes the long drive easy. Our Eagle airport to Vail guide covers that arrival.
Going home: Vail to DEN
The trip back is where Denver itineraries go wrong, because the flight time is fixed and I-70 is not. Sunday afternoons eastbound carry the weekend traffic back to the city, and a storm on departure day can slow or close the interstate. Work back from your airline's recommended check-in time, add the clear-road 2 hours 30 minutes, then add generous slack for the season and the day of the week. Book the return at the same time as the arrival, with the outbound flight number, so the desk can plan the pickup time around the forecast. The fixed fare is the same in both directions.
If you are spending a night in the city on the way, DEN to LoDo and Union Station starts at US$225 on our Denver car service page. For guests continuing to Aspen, see Aspen car service.

Frequently asked questions
Where will my driver meet me at Denver airport?
Inside the Jeppesen Terminal at baggage claim, with a name board. After you collect your bags, the chauffeur walks you to the vehicle at the pre-arranged limousine area on Level 5, island 2. You receive the chauffeur's contact details before you fly, and the 24/7 desk can help if you cannot find each other.
How long is the drive from Denver airport to Vail?
About 121 miles (194 km), roughly 2 hours 30 minutes on a clear road. Friday westbound traffic, Sunday eastbound traffic, the winter Traction Law and closures can add a lot of time. The flat rate does not change with traffic or weather.
What happens if my flight to Denver is late?
The desk tracks the flight number and the chauffeur adjusts to the actual landing. Complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing, so a delay at the hub or a slow carousel does not change the price. If the flight is cancelled, tell the desk so the pickup can be planned around the new flight.
Which vehicle do I need for skis?
A Business SUV or First Class SUV holds up to 6 passengers and 6 bags, and suits a family with skis. An Executive Sprinter holds up to 12 and 12 and is the choice for larger groups. Sedans take up to 3 passengers and 2 bags and do not suit ski luggage.
Is the price the same from Vail back to Denver airport?
Yes. Every Elly8.net airport fare is the same fixed price in either direction, so Vail Village to DEN is US$715 in a Business Sedan and US$930 in a Business SUV. Book the return with your outbound flight number and leave generous time for I-70.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or for a no-show, 100%. Refunds go back to the original card.
