Pearson airport transportation comes down to four choices: the UP Express train, the TTC bus, a taxi or rideshare from the curb, or a car booked in advance. A pre-booked Elly8.net car from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to downtown Toronto costs from US$155 in a business sedan to US$405 in an Executive Sprinter, fixed before you fly, with the chauffeur waiting inside arrivals when you come through the doors.
This guide follows an arrival step by step, explains the waiting policy in plain terms, and sets the flat-rate car beside the train, bus, taxi and rideshare so you can pick the one that fits your trip. Toronto and the GTA run on the Elly8 fleet and chauffeurs, so the desk that tracks your flight dispatches the car that collects you.
How does a pre-booked pickup at Pearson work?
You book with your flight number. The desk tracks the flight, confirms the terminal and sets the pickup from the actual landing time. Your chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 with a name board, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing covers baggage and customs. The fare is fixed.
The key idea is that the pickup is tied to the aircraft, not to the time printed on your ticket. If a headwind brings you in 25 minutes early, the chauffeur is already there. If a ground stop in New York holds you for two hours, the pickup slides with the flight and nobody calls you to ask where you are.

An arrival at Pearson, step by step
Here is what happens on our side at each stage of a typical international arrival.
1. Wheels down. The tracked landing time is the reference point for your pickup. The chauffeur is dispatched to the terminal on the live arrival time, not the schedule.
2. Taxi to the gate. Pearson is a large airfield, and taxiing to some gates takes a while. Nothing changes for you; the waiting clock has not become a concern yet.
3. Canadian border services. International and transborder passengers clear Canada Border Services Agency before reaching baggage claim. This is the part of the arrival that varies most: a quiet mid-morning can take minutes, a bank of evening flights from Europe can take much longer. Complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is designed for exactly this.
4. Baggage claim. Domestic passengers usually reach the carousel first. If a bag is missing and you need the airline's baggage desk, send the desk a message so the chauffeur knows you are still inside.
5. The arrivals hall. Your chauffeur stands at the exit from baggage claim and customs for your flight, holding a name board with the traveller's name. Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 each have their own arrivals level, which is why the flight number matters.
6. To the car. The chauffeur takes the bags and walks you to the vehicle. From there it is about 31 km (19 mi) to downtown, roughly 31 minutes on a clear road and often 45 to 70 minutes at weekday rush hour.
If you cannot see the chauffeur. Stay inside the arrivals hall rather than walking out to the curb; the chauffeur is waiting inside, not outside. Message or call the desk on the number in your confirmation; the desk is staffed 24/7 and is in touch with the chauffeur. The usual cause is a passenger who exits at a different door after a gate change or a terminal switch, and it is sorted in minutes once we know where you are standing.
For the other half of the trip, when you are flying out, our guide to booking a limo to YYZ covers pickup times and the departures curb.
Waiting time, delays and what is billed at cost
People ask about waiting more than anything else, so here is the policy without the fine print.
- Complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included in every airport pickup. It covers the normal stretch at immigration and the carousel.
- Early or late flights do not cost you anything extra. The pickup follows the tracked landing.
- Waiting well beyond the included time, for example a long lost-bag claim or a passenger who stops for dinner before coming out, is billed at cost. Message the desk and we will tell you where things stand.
- Missed connections elsewhere that put you on a later flight: send the new flight number and the pickup is moved to it.
- Tolls and parking are billed at cost. The standard route downtown has no tolls; Highway 407 is used only if you ask.
What you do not pay is a surcharge for rush hour, a late-night premium or a higher fare because it is snowing. The price you see when you book is the price for the vehicle.
Flat rates from Pearson and Billy Bishop
Every airport fare below is fixed and all-in, covering the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet. Each fare is the same price in either direction.
| Route | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pearson (YYZ) to downtown Toronto | US$155 | US$205 | US$250 | US$275 | US$405 |
| Pearson round trip | US$295 | US$390 | US$475 | US$525 | US$770 |

| Billy Bishop round trip | US$185 | US$240 | US$295 | US$325 | US$475 |
The sedans take up to 3 passengers and 2 bags, the SUVs up to 6 passengers and 6 bags, and the Executive Sprinter up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. Prices are per vehicle, never per person.
Not heading downtown? Pearson sits on the western edge of the city, and many arrivals go elsewhere. Mississauga car service is the short hop to Square One and the airport hotels, Hamilton and Kitchener-Waterloo are priced on their own pages, and Niagara Falls is a common next stop for visitors. For any address not on a price list, the web booker returns a fixed price for that exact trip. If you are comparing several quotes, our guide to the Toronto airport limo flat rate explains what a fair quote includes.
The other ways out of Pearson
A pre-booked car is not the only sensible choice, and for some travellers it is not the best one.
UP Express. The airport train leaves from Pearson Station in Terminal 1 and reaches Union Station in about 28 minutes, every 15 minutes. According to UP Express, an adult one-way fare is C$12.35, children 12 and under ride free, and group passes for 3 to 5 people travelling together start at C$25. Weekday service runs from a first train at 5:27 a.m. to a last train at 12:54 a.m. If you land at Terminal 3, the Terminal Link train takes you to Terminal 1 first. We compare it with a car in detail in UP Express or a car service.
TTC bus. The TTC's 900 Airport Express bus connects the airport with the subway network. A standard TTC adult fare is C$3.30 paid with PRESTO or a debit or credit card, or C$3.35 in cash, according to TTC fares. It is the cheapest option by far, and the slowest with luggage.
Taxi or airport limo from the rank. Taxis and limousines wait at the terminal for walk-up passengers and charge a regulated airport fare that depends on your destination. It is the right call when you land with no booking and want to leave now.
Rideshare. Uber and Lyft operate at Pearson through their apps, which direct you to the airport's designated pickup area. The fare is shown in the app before you confirm and moves with demand, so a Friday evening or a snowstorm costs more than a quiet Tuesday. You also wait for the match and walk to the pickup area with your bags.
| Option | Price to downtown | Time | Where you meet it | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UP Express | C$12.35 adult one-way | about 28 min to Union | Pearson Station, Terminal 1 | Solo, light bags, hotel near Union |
| TTC 900 bus plus subway | C$3.30 card fare | longest | terminal bus stop | Lowest budget, no rush |
| Taxi or airport limo rank | regulated airport fare | 31 min clear road, more at peak | terminal rank | Walk-up arrivals |
| Rideshare | shown in the app, varies with demand | same roads plus the match | designated pickup area | Flexible plans, off-peak |
| Elly8.net business sedan | from US$155, fixed | 31 min clear road | inside arrivals, name board | Late flights, meetings, fixed budget |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter | from US$405 per vehicle | same | inside arrivals, name board | Groups, families, heavy luggage |
The fair reading: for one person staying near Union, the train is excellent value and we say so. A car makes sense when there are three or more of you, when you have children who need seats, when your hotel is in Yorkville, Midtown or the suburbs, when you land after the last train, or when a predictable number matters more than the lowest number. Our Toronto Uber vs taxi vs private car guide works through those situations one by one.
Families, groups and special arrivals
Child seats. Available on request. Give each child's age and weight and the seat is fitted before the chauffeur leaves for the airport.
Groups. A wedding party, a sports team or a delegation lands on several flights. The desk can group arrivals into Sprinters where the flights allow, or send separate cars that each track their own flight. See group transportation and Sprinter van with driver.
Private aviation. If you arrive on a business aircraft, give us the operator, tail number and the FBO handling your flight, and the chauffeur meets you at the FBO door; see private jet and FBO car service.
Business travellers. A corporate account adds monthly invoicing and a single point of contact for repeat arrivals, and NDAs are available on request. Details are on corporate accounts.

Frequently asked questions
How long will the chauffeur wait at Pearson?
You get complimentary waiting after a tracked landing, which covers taxiing, border services and baggage claim on a normal arrival. Because the pickup follows the actual landing, an early or delayed flight costs nothing extra. Waiting well beyond the included time, such as a long lost-bag claim, is billed at cost.
What is the flat rate from Pearson to downtown Toronto?
On Elly8.net it is US$155 in a business sedan, US$205 in a business SUV, US$250 in a first class SUV, US$275 in a first class sedan and US$405 in an Executive Sprinter. Each fare is fixed and all-in, per vehicle, and the same price in either direction.
Where exactly does the chauffeur wait?
Inside the arrivals hall of your terminal, at the exit from baggage claim and customs for your flight, holding a name board with the traveller's name. Add the flight number when you book so the desk confirms Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 on the day.
Is the UP Express a better option than a car?
For a solo traveller with light bags staying near Union Station, often yes: C$12.35 one-way and about 28 minutes. For groups, families with child seats, hotels away from Union or arrivals after the last train, a pre-booked car is usually the better value and the simpler trip.
Does the price go up if my flight is late at night?
No. There is no late-night premium, rush-hour surcharge or weather surcharge. The fare is fixed when you book. Tolls, parking and waiting well beyond the included time are the only items billed at cost. A midnight landing from Europe costs the same as a 2 p.m. arrival in the same vehicle.
Can you pick up from Billy Bishop as well as Pearson?
Yes. A Billy Bishop (YTZ) transfer to downtown starts at US$95 in a business sedan. The chauffeur meets you on the mainland side at Eireann Quay, where the ferry and the pedestrian tunnel arrive. The flight is tracked in the same way as at Pearson, and a round trip from Billy Bishop starts at US$185.
