JFK to Westchester is a 20 to 50 mile drive, depending on the town: about 22 miles (36 km) to New Rochelle, 32 miles (51 km) to White Plains and 47 miles (75 km) to Bedford by road. On a clear road that is 36 minutes to New Rochelle, about 52 minutes to White Plains and 69 minutes to Bedford. At rush hour on the Van Wyck and the Whitestone or Throgs Neck crossings, plan for considerably more.
With Elly8.net you get a flat, fixed rate for the whole vehicle before you fly. Enter your JFK flight number and Westchester address in the web booker and it shows one all-in price per vehicle, with flight tracking and a chauffeur waiting inside arrivals. This guide covers the drive, the alternatives with their real costs, and where the meeting happens.

Flat rates: how a JFK to Westchester price works
JFK is not on the Westchester fixed price list, which covers Westchester County Airport (HPN) and LaGuardia to White Plains. Instead, the web booker prices your exact route: JFK with your flight number, your Westchester or Greenwich address and the vehicle. You see one fixed, all-in price per vehicle before you pay. It includes the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. The same fixed price applies from your house to JFK.
For reference, two published fares bracket the trip. On the New York price list, JFK to Midtown Manhattan, about 18 miles, starts at US$210 in a Business Sedan and US$550 in an Executive Sprinter. On the Westchester price list, LaGuardia to White Plains, about 25 miles, starts at US$245 in a Business Sedan, US$320 in a Business SUV and US$640 in an Executive Sprinter. JFK to White Plains is a longer drive than either, and the booker reflects that.
Choosing the vehicle. A Business Sedan takes up to 3 passengers with 2 large bags. Coming back from a two-week trip with a family of four, or with golf bags, choose a Business SUV (up to 6 passengers, 6 bags). An Executive Sprinter takes up to 12 with 12 bags. The fleet page lists every class.
Meeting your driver at JFK
JFK is a large airport with several terminals and ongoing construction. The airport's own pages currently warn that pickups by taxi, car and van may take longer than usual because of the work. A pre-booked meeting removes most of the guesswork.
- The flight is tracked. International arrivals can land early or late by an hour or more; the pickup follows the actual landing.
- The chauffeur waits inside arrivals at your terminal, after customs and baggage claim, with a name board.
- Complimentary waiting after a tracked landing covers the immigration queue and the baggage belt. Waiting beyond the included time is billed at cost, and the desk tells you before that happens.
- The walk to the car is with the chauffeur, who helps with bags.
JFK advises travellers to ignore anyone soliciting rides in the terminal, because unlicensed drivers operate there. If someone approaches you, keep walking; your chauffeur has your name and the booking details. For help on the day, the Port Authority information centres in each arrivals area are the official point.
JFK to Westchester by taxi, app, train or car
| Option | Price | Time and changes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yellow taxi from the JFK rank | Meter to the New York City line, then double the meter from there | Taxi queue, then the drive | No booking, light luggage |
| Uber or Lyft | Set by the app at request time | Pickup area, then the drive | Flexible solo travellers |
| AirTrain + LIRR + Metro-North to White Plains | US$8.75 + US$7.25 + US$13.75 at peak, per person | Three rides, two changes | One traveller, carry-on, daytime |
| Elly8.net pre-booked car | Fixed, all-in per vehicle, in the web booker | Door to door, no changes | Families, luggage, late flights, business |
The taxi rule. JFK's official taxi page explains that the US$70 flat fare applies only to Manhattan. For Nassau and Westchester, the fare is the meter from JFK to the New York City boundary, then double the meter from there to the final stop. Tolls and the tip are extra. You cannot know the total before you arrive, and the doubled section grows with each mile north of the city line.
App rides. Uber and Lyft operate at JFK and the airport says prices vary by location and time of day. Check the JFK ride-share page before you land: app pickups for Terminals 5 and 7 have temporarily moved to the Howard Beach AirTrain station during construction.
AirTrain and trains. For one person with a carry-on, the rail route is the budget option: the AirTrain to Jamaica at US$8.75, the LIRR from Jamaica to Grand Central at US$7.25 peak (US$5.25 off-peak), then Metro-North's Harlem Line to White Plains at US$13.75 peak (US$10.25 off-peak), according to the MTA's LIRR and Metro-North fare tables. That is under US$30 at peak, with two changes and a station pickup at the other end.
The fair verdict. The train is genuinely good for one traveller arriving in daytime with little luggage and time to spare. The taxi is fine if you land with no plan and only need New Rochelle or Yonkers. For a family, a late international arrival, a business traveller who needs to work in the car, or anyone with heavy bags, the fixed car wins: no changes at Jamaica and Grand Central, no doubled meter, and a price you know before you fly. Our chauffeur vs taxi and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft pages compare the models in general.
Families and groups arriving at JFK
International arrivals into JFK often mean a family with a week of luggage, or a group returning together from a trip. A few points make that arrival easier.
- Choose by bags. Four people with four large cases and carry-ons need a Business SUV, not a sedan. Ten people with luggage fit an Executive Sprinter, which takes up to 12 passengers and 12 bags.
- Child seats. Add the number and type when you book; they are fitted before pickup. You cannot count on a taxi or an app car to have the right seat.
- One meeting point. Give the lead passenger's name and mobile number, so the chauffeur can find the whole group at the arrivals exit.
- One price. Elly8.net fares are per vehicle, never per person, so a group of ten pays one fixed price for the Sprinter.
Our group transportation page explains multi-vehicle bookings when one vehicle is not enough.
Is JFK the right airport for Westchester?
Often it is the only choice: most international and many long-haul domestic flights land at JFK. But for domestic trips, two closer airports are worth a look.
- Westchester County Airport (HPN) is about 6 miles (10 km) from White Plains. HPN to White Plains is fixed at US$130 in a Business Sedan. Our guide to the Westchester airport car service walks through an HPN arrival step by step.
- LaGuardia (LGA) is about 25 miles (40 km) from White Plains, fixed from US$245 in a Business Sedan.
If you compare flights, compare door-to-door time too: a nonstop into HPN can beat a cheaper JFK flight once the drive and the airport walk are counted. Our HPN car service tips cover what to know when flying from the county airport.
Departures from Westchester to JFK
The same fixed fare applies in reverse. Give the desk the flight time, the terminal if you know it, and whether you are flying internationally. The pickup is set with a margin for the time of day: a Friday afternoon departure from Bedford needs a much earlier pickup than a Tuesday mid-morning one. If you are heading to Connecticut instead, see Hartford car service; for the city, New York City car service.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from JFK to Westchester?
The web booker gives a fixed, all-in price per vehicle for your exact JFK terminal and Westchester address before you pay. For reference, LaGuardia to White Plains starts at US$245 in a Business Sedan and JFK to Midtown at US$210; JFK to Westchester is a longer drive than both. Tolls are billed at cost.
How much is a taxi from JFK to White Plains?
There is no flat fare. JFK's official taxi rules say trips to Westchester pay the meter to the New York City boundary, then double the meter from there to the destination, plus tolls and tip. The total depends on traffic and the exact address, so you only know it at the end.
Where will my driver meet me at JFK?
Inside the arrivals area of your terminal, after customs and baggage claim, holding a name board. The chauffeur tracks your flight, so an early or late landing does not matter, and complimentary waiting applies after a tracked landing. Ignore anyone who approaches you offering a ride.
How long does JFK to White Plains take?
About 52 minutes on a clear road for 32 miles (51 km). Weekday rush hours and summer Fridays can add 30 to 60 minutes, and the bridge crossings out of Queens are often the slowest part. The desk sets departure pickups with a margin for the time of day.
Is the train from JFK to Westchester a good option?
For one traveller with a carry-on, yes: the AirTrain, LIRR to Grand Central and Metro-North to White Plains cost under US$30 at peak. It involves two changes and a ride from the station at the other end, so it is less practical with heavy bags, children or a late arrival.
Can I cancel or change the booking?
Yes. Changes are handled by the desk. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10% within 72 hours, 50% within 48 hours, and the full fare within 24 hours or for a no-show. Refunds go to the original card.
