Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) to Vail Village is about 36 miles (57 km) east on I-70, roughly 46 minutes on a clear road. A pre-booked Elly8.net car costs US$320 in a Business Sedan, US$420 in a Business SUV and US$835 in an Executive Sprinter, flat and all-in with the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. The return to the airport is the same fixed price.
That is the main reason so many Vail guests choose Eagle over Denver: less than an hour on the road instead of two and a half, with no Continental Divide to cross. The rest of this guide covers what the flat rate buys, how the meeting works in Eagle's small terminal, the drive itself, and how the car compares with the local bus, a taxi and a shared shuttle. Rides in Vail are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.

The flat rate, and what "flat" means here
A flat rate is a price agreed before the trip that does not move with the meter, demand or the road. On the Eagle to Vail run, three things could otherwise change a fare: a flight landing hours late at night, a slow drive behind a snowplow on I-70, and a holiday Saturday when every car in the valley is busy. None of them changes an Elly8.net fare.
What is included: the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, the standard gratuity and meet and greet inside the terminal, plus complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. What is billed at cost, only if it happens: tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time.
Addresses beyond Vail Village and Lionshead, such as Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch, Arrowhead, Avon, Edwards or East Vail, are priced in the web booker when you enter the address. For the wider picture of what happens between landing and the door at any valley address, see our Eagle airport car service guide.
Who flies into Eagle, and when
Eagle's schedule changes with the seasons, and knowing it helps you plan the car. The airport's airlines and destinations page lists United year-round from Denver and American year-round from Dallas/Fort Worth. In season, American adds Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York JFK and Phoenix; United adds Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco and Washington Dulles; and Delta and Alaska fly seasonally from December to March, Delta from Atlanta, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-Saint Paul and New York JFK, and Alaska from Seattle and San Diego.
Two practical points follow. Winter Saturdays bring several arrivals close together, so book early for holiday weeks. And many guests connect through Denver; if a connection misconnects and you end up flying into DEN instead, tell the desk, because the Denver to Vail fare is a different, longer trip. Our Denver airport to Vail guide covers that arrival.
Meeting your driver at Eagle
Eagle is a small airport, and the meeting is simple. Add your flight number when you book. The desk tracks the flight, and the chauffeur meets you as you come into baggage claim, holding a name board, so you are not looking for a curb or a phone signal. You receive the chauffeur's details before you fly.
Complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing. That matters at Eagle because ski bags and boot bags often come off last, and oversized items may take longer. If the flight is delayed, the pickup moves with it. If it diverts, call the desk and the pickup is re-planned with you.
The chauffeur helps with the bags and walks you to the vehicle outside the terminal. From there it is less than an hour to Vail.
The drive: Eagle to Vail on I-70
From the airport in Gypsum, the route runs east on I-70 up the Eagle River valley, past the town of Eagle, Edwards and Avon, then on into Vail. It is the same corridor the local bus follows, and on a clear day it is an easy drive.
| From EGE to | Distance | Clear-road time | Elly8.net price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edwards | about 21 mi (34 km) | about 36 min | web booker |
| Avon | about 26 mi (43 km) | about 35 min | web booker |
| Beaver Creek | about 29 mi (47 km) | about 39 min | web booker |
| Vail Village | about 36 mi (57 km) | about 46 min | from US$320 |
Distances and times are from our routing on a clear road.
The Eagle to Vail stretch crosses no high mountain pass, which is why it is so much more reliable than the drive from Denver. It does sit inside the Colorado Department of Transportation's Traction Law corridor on I-70 from Morrison to Dotsero, in force from September 1 to May 31 or whenever conditions require, so winter-rated tires or traction devices still apply in a storm. Partner vehicles on this corridor are set up for it, and the desk checks COtrip on storm days. A crash or snowstorm can still slow the valley, but it rarely turns a 46-minute drive into an evening.
Arriving in Vail Village or Lionshead
Vail Village and Lionshead are built around pedestrian streets, and private vehicles do not drive freely through the cores. Your chauffeur drops you at your lodge's own entrance or the nearest permitted loading point, unloads the bags and, where the lodge has bell staff, hands them over. Give the exact lodge name when you book so the desk confirms the right spot in advance.
Private homes in East Vail, West Vail and on the hillsides can have steep driveways. Send the gate code and parking notes with the booking. In heavy snow, the chauffeur stops at the nearest safe point and helps with the bags.
Taxi, bus, shuttle or a flat-rate car
The Vail Valley has real public transport, and for some travellers it is the right answer.
| Option | EGE to Vail | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core Transit Valley route | fares apply to and from EGE and Gypsum | scheduled bus via Eagle, Edwards and Avon | solo, light luggage, flexible time |
| Shared airport shuttle | per seat, set by the operator | stops at other lodges | budget travellers who do not mind stops |
| Taxi | metered or quoted by the operator | from the airport's listed operators | short notice |
| Elly8.net private car | flat rate from US$320 per vehicle | met at baggage claim, straight to your door | couples, families, groups, late flights |
Core Transit. The Valley route runs from Dotsero through Gypsum, with direct service to the airport, then Eagle, Edwards, Avon and Vail. According to Core Transit's fares page, fares apply only to trips to or from the airport, Gypsum and Leadville, and every other route is fare-free; a single pass to Gypsum is US$3, sold on the mobile app or at Core's offices, with no cash on board. Riders 18 and under travel free until the end of the 2026-2027 winter season. For one traveller with a duffel and time to spare, that is very hard to beat.
Shuttles and taxis. Eagle's ground transportation page lists the limo, taxi and shuttle operators registered at the airport, along with hotel shuttles and Core Transit, and notes that the airport does not guarantee price or availability for any of them. A shared shuttle seat is cheaper than a private car for one or two people; it runs on its own timetable and stops for other passengers.
The private car earns its price when you are three or more with skis, when you land late in the evening, when you need child seats (available on request), and when you want to go straight from the carousel to your door in Lionshead without stops. For the general case, read chauffeur vs shared airport shuttle and chauffeur vs taxi.
Your first evening and the rest of the week
An Eagle arrival in the afternoon often leaves time for dinner. If you want a car for the evening, the evening out and event night package in Vail runs from US$550 in a Business Sedan to US$1,100 in an Executive Sprinter for five hours. For ski days between Vail and Beaver Creek, the hourly chauffeur service runs from US$110 an hour in a Business Sedan and US$140 in a Business SUV, with a 3-hour minimum. A trip to Aspen during the week is covered in our Aspen to Vail guide.
Going home: Vail to Eagle
The airport's FAQ recommends arriving at least two hours before departure for check-in and security. Add the 46-minute drive and some winter slack, and a pickup about three hours before a winter flight is a sensible starting point; the desk will suggest a time for your flight and the forecast. The fare back to EGE is the same fixed price as the arrival, and the round-trip price, from US$610, books both at once.
