Getting to LAX is usually easier than getting out of it, but departure day has its own traps: a terminal loop slowed by construction, a hotel driveway that backs up at checkout, and freeways that behave differently at 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. A private car service to LAX solves those by putting the timing in the hands of someone who drives it every day, and by fixing the price before you leave so the traffic is not your financial problem.
Elly8.net books it at fixed, all-in prices. LAX to Beverly Hills is listed from US$170 in a Business Sedan to US$445 in an Executive Sprinter, and the round trip, out to LAX and back again, from US$325. Any other Los Angeles address gets a fixed quote in the web booker. The chauffeur collects you at the door, loads the bags and drops you at your terminal on the LAX departures level.
How early should a private car pick you up for LAX?
Work back from your airline's check-in and bag-drop deadline. From the Westside, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, the drive is 15 to 25 minutes on a clear road; from Hollywood, Downtown and Pasadena it is longer. Add a generous buffer at weekday rush hours, plus time for the LAX terminal loop, and let the desk confirm the pickup time.
These are routing estimates on a clear road. At peak hours, the same drives take much longer, and the terminal loop adds its own delay.
| Pickup area | Distance to LAX | Clear-road drive | Departure-day note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Santa Monica | about 9 mi (14 km) | about 16 min | Beach hotels; the shortest Westside run |
| Century City | about 10 mi (17 km) | about 19 min | Office towers; book outside the lobby you use |
| Beverly Hills | about 12 mi (20 km) | about 22 min | Fixed fare from US$170 |
| West Hollywood | about 12 mi (20 km) | about 24 min | Sunset hotels; driveways busy at checkout |
| Hollywood | about 14 mi (23 km) | about 29 min | Allow extra on show and event nights |
| Downtown Los Angeles | about 15 mi (24 km) | about 25 min | Convention weeks add hotel traffic |
| Pasadena | about 25 mi (41 km) | about 40 min | Consider Burbank for domestic flights |

Where the chauffeur drops you at LAX
LAX is a horseshoe of terminals around the Central Terminal Area: Terminals 1 to 8 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal, which the airport also calls Terminal B. Departures are on the upper level, and that is where drop-offs happen; arrivals and pickups are on the lower level.
Three things make the drop-off smoother:
- Tell us your airline and terminal. Airlines sometimes move terminals, so check yours on the airline's confirmation. The chauffeur pulls up at the right door, which saves a long walk with bags along a busy kerb.
- Expect the loop to be slow at times. Los Angeles World Airports posts lane and kerb closures for its construction projects, and on busy mornings the loop itself can take a while. The pickup time we suggest allows for it.
- Have documents in hand before the car stops. Departure kerbs are for quick unloading. The chauffeur gets the bags out while you check passports and boarding passes, and you are inside in a minute.
If you use a wheelchair, travel with an elderly relative or simply need more help at the kerb, tell the desk when you book. The chauffeur then allows extra time for unloading, brings the bags to the terminal door and makes sure everyone is safely on the pavement before pulling away. The same note on the booking helps on the return, when the chauffeur meets you inside arrivals.
A note on the future: LAX's SkyLink train will link the terminals with parking, rental cars and Metro, but the airport says it is not open to travellers yet and that opening information will be posted when it is ready. Until then, the kerb is still the way in for cars.
Luggage, vehicles and what fits
Choose the vehicle by bags as much as by passengers. On a departure day, the classic mistake is a sedan for two people with four large suitcases.
- Business Sedan or First Class Sedan: up to 3 passengers and 2 bags. Right for a business traveller or a couple with carry-ons.
- Business SUV or First Class SUV: up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. The usual choice for families, long trips, golf bags and strollers.
- Executive Sprinter: up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. For teams, tour groups and wedding parties flying out together.
The fleet page shows each class. Child seats are available on request; add each child's age and weight when you book, and the seat is fitted before pickup. Tell us about oversized items, such as surfboards, bike boxes, musical instruments or wheelchairs, so the right vehicle is sent the first time.
What a private car to LAX costs
On the Los Angeles price list, the Beverly Hills route sets the benchmark:
- LAX to Beverly Hills from US$170 in a Business Sedan, US$225 in a Business SUV, US$275 in a First Class SUV, US$300 in a First Class Sedan and US$445 in an Executive Sprinter.
- The round trip, out to LAX and back on one booking, from US$325 in a Business Sedan to US$850 in an Executive Sprinter.
For a one-way departure from your own address in Santa Monica, Hollywood, Downtown or anywhere else in the basin, the web booker shows a fixed, all-in price for each vehicle before you pay. Every fare includes the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes and standard gratuity; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
If your day includes a meeting before the flight, book by the hour instead: an hourly chauffeur is listed from US$105 an hour in a Business Sedan, with a 3-hour minimum, and the car waits with your bags while you are inside.
Private car, rideshare, taxi or train to LAX
For departures, the gap between options is narrower than for arrivals, so here is a fair comparison.
| Option | Price | What to expect | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro rail to LAX/Metro Transit Center, then free LAX shuttle | US$1.75 regular fare | Rail plus a shuttle to the terminals that runs about every 10 minutes | Solo travellers with light bags near a rail line |
| FlyAway bus from Union Station or Van Nuys | US$12.75 one-way | Scheduled buses, first come, first served | Travellers starting downtown or in the Valley |
| Uber or Lyft | Dynamic, not published | Drop-off at your terminal on the departures level; price moves with demand | Solo trips at normal hours |
| Taxi | Metered | Drops on the departures level | Short hops without a booking |
| Elly8.net private car | From US$170 fixed (Beverly Hills) | Booked time, the right vehicle, child seats on request | Families, bags, early flights, executives |
The Metro regular fare is US$1.75, with free transfers within two hours when you tap, and LAX runs a free shuttle between the terminals and the LAX/Metro Transit Center. The FlyAway bus costs US$12.75 and does not take reservations. For one person with a backpack, both are sensible.
Rideshare is a reasonable choice for departures: LAX allows app drop-offs directly at the terminal on the upper level, so the LAX-it lot only matters on the way back. Where it struggles is the early-morning wave, when demand spikes and the car that arrives may not have room for a family's bags or a car seat. Read Uber Black vs a pre-booked chauffeur and chauffeur vs taxi for the longer comparison.
Event weeks and holiday departures
Some weeks put far more cars on the road to LAX than others, and they are easy to see coming. Thanksgiving week overlaps this year with the Los Angeles Auto Show, November 20 to 29, 2026, at the Los Angeles Convention Center downtown. Award season brings the Grammy Awards on February 7, 2027, and Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium, a short drive from LAX, follows in February 2027. The days after big events are departure peaks, with hotel checkouts, crowded kerbs and app prices that rise with demand.
For those weeks, book early, choose a pickup time with a wider buffer, and consider an SUV even for two people if you are carrying event wardrobe or extra bags. The fixed price means the buffer costs nothing extra. Groups leaving after an event can see event transportation for how we plan multi-vehicle departures.
Flying private instead
Not every Los Angeles departure goes through the LAX terminals. Private aviation in the Valley often uses Van Nuys Airport, and the Los Angeles price list has VNY to Beverly Hills from US$200 in a Business Sedan. If you are flying private, tell us the FBO and the tail number; our private jet and FBO car service page explains how the chauffeur meets you at the FBO your operator uses, and NDAs are available on request.
Booking tips for departure day
- Book the return at the same time. The round trip price applies, and the chauffeur for your arrival tracks the inbound flight and waits inside arrivals with a name board. Our guide to LAX meet and greet explains the meeting.
- Give the desk a pickup time, not a flight time. We suggest one when you book, but you know how long your household takes to get out of the door.
- Hotel guests: name the entrance. Large hotels have several driveways and a separate entrance for cars; say which one you will use.
- Early flights: confirm the night before. The chauffeur confirms, and the 24/7 desk is there by phone, WhatsApp or chat if plans change.
- Companies: use an account. A corporate account gives monthly invoicing and saved traveller profiles, so assistants can book in a minute.
If you are flying from somewhere further out, read our guides to Orange County to LAX and San Diego to LAX. For domestic flights from the Valley or Pasadena, Burbank can be the easier airport; see our Burbank Airport car service guide.
How to book in three steps
- Pickup and flight. Enter your address and LAX with your airline, or choose the Beverly Hills route from the price list.
- Vehicle. Choose by passengers and bags, and add child seats if needed.
- Reserve. Pay securely; confirmation arrives by email, with the chauffeur's details before pickup.
Rides in Los Angeles are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer. See the airport transfers page for how airport bookings work in every Elly8.net city.
