A transfer from Orlando airport to Universal by private car is a short, predictable run: Universal Orlando Resort is close to International Drive, and our published Orlando International Airport (MCO) to International Drive fare runs from US$155 in a Business Sedan to US$405 in an Executive Sprinter, fixed and all-in. Your exact Universal hotel is priced the same way in the web booker before you pay, and the chauffeur meets you inside arrivals with a name board.
Rides in Orlando are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. This guide covers what to expect on the day: the meeting point at each MCO terminal, the drive, the bags, the cost against a taxi or a hotel shuttle, and how to plan the trip back to the airport after a late night in the parks.
What does a private car from MCO to Universal cost?
Universal Orlando hotels are quoted as fixed, all-in prices in the Elly8.net web booker. The closest published route, MCO to International Drive, is US$155 in a Business Sedan, US$205 in a Business SUV, US$250 in a First Class SUV, US$275 in a First Class Sedan and US$405 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle.
International Drive is our reference point because it sits between the airport, the Orange County Convention Center and the Universal area. The drive to International Drive is about 13 miles (22 km) and roughly 23 minutes on a clear road. Universal is in the same part of town, so the route is short by Orlando standards, but it uses some of the busiest roads in Central Florida, and the clock matters more than the miles.
Each price includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and the airport meet and greet. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Because the price is per vehicle, a group of five in a Business SUV pays the same as two people in the same SUV. The full Orlando price panel is on our Orlando car service page.

Your arrival at MCO, terminal by terminal
MCO has three passenger terminals: A and B in the original building and the newer Terminal C. Different transport modes use different curbs, which is why so many first-time visitors walk the wrong way after baggage claim.
- App rides pick up on the Arrivals Curb (Level 2) at Terminals A and B, and on the Arrivals Curb (Level 6) at Terminal C, according to the airport's rideshare page.
- Taxis wait on the Ground Transportation Curb (Level 1) at A and B, and on Level 6 at Terminal C.
- Hotel shuttles use the Ground Transportation Level (Level 1). The airport's hotel shuttle page lists Universal's SuperStar Shuttle on Level 1 at Terminal A and Terminal C.
A pre-booked chauffeur removes the guesswork. The chauffeur tracks your flight, waits inside the arrivals area with a name board and walks you to the vehicle. Tell us your airline at booking so the chauffeur is in the right terminal. You get complimentary waiting after a tracked landing, which covers the walk from the gate and the wait at the carousel. Our airport meet and greet page explains the details.
The drive to the Universal hotels
From MCO, the chauffeur takes the toll expressways west toward International Drive and the Universal area, then the resort's entrance roads to your hotel's front drive. On a clear road this is one of the quicker transfers from the airport. At rush hour, during a big convention or when a summer storm rolls through, the same trip can take far longer.
The fixed price is the point. Taxis picking up at MCO are metered, and the airport's taxi page states that flat rates are not authorized, so heavy traffic adds to the fare. App rides price by demand. A fixed fare means a slow afternoon on the interstate costs you time but not money.
Give us the exact hotel name, whether it is one of the on-site Universal hotels or a hotel near the resort on Universal Boulevard or International Drive. The chauffeur drives to the front entrance or the bell desk. If you land in the morning and your room is not ready, most hotels hold bags at the bell desk while you head into the parks.
Universal now means four parks
Universal Orlando lists four parks: Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Volcano Bay and the newest, Universal Epic Universe. More parks mean longer stays, more luggage and more travellers who split a holiday between Universal and other parts of Orlando.
That changes the transport plan in three ways:
- Bags. A five- or six-night stay with a water park day means more cases and often a stroller. Choose the vehicle by bags, not just by people.
- Split stays. Many families move from a Universal hotel to a Disney resort mid-trip. That is a point-to-point transfer between two hotels, quoted in the web booker, with the bags travelling with you.
- Late exits. Park closing times create long curb queues for app rides. A pre-booked car, or an hourly booking that waits for you, removes that wait.
If your trip includes Disney as well, our guide to the Orlando airport transfer to Disney covers the longer southwest run and the resort entrances.
Choosing the vehicle for a Universal trip
| Vehicle | Passengers | Bags | MCO to International Drive | Typical Universal booking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Sedan | up to 3 | 2 | US$155 | A couple or a solo traveller with a carry-on |
| First Class Sedan | up to 3 | 2 | US$275 | A couple who want a top-class sedan |
| Business SUV / Van | up to 6 | 6 | US$205 | A family of four or five with child seats |
| First Class SUV | up to 6 | 6 | US$250 | A family who want a premium SUV |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | 12 | US$405 | Two families or a group of friends |
Capacities come from our fleet page. Child seats are available on request; give each child's age and weight when you book. A sedan takes two bags, so a couple with two large cases and two carry-ons is better off in an SUV. For groups of seven to twelve, the Orlando Sprinter van rental guide compares one van with two SUVs.
Taxi, hotel shuttle, bus or private car: the fair comparison
The airport publishes approximate fares to the International Drive area on its ground transportation page, the nearest published zone to Universal. These are useful reference points.
| Option | Price to the International Drive area | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi from the rank | about US$38 to US$45 metered (airport estimate) | queue at the rank, meter runs in traffic | One to four travellers, light bags, daytime |
| Shared shuttle van | US$21 per person one way, US$33 round trip (airport estimate) | per-person fare, may stop at other hotels | Solo travellers watching every dollar |
| Hotel shuttle | depends on your hotel | scheduled departures from Level 1 | Guests of hotels that run one |
| App ride | varies with demand; not published | walk to the rideshare curb, wait for a match | Flexible adults with carry-on bags |
| LYNX local bus | US$2 per ride, US$4.50 all day | several stops on the way | Budget travellers with carry-on bags |
| Elly8.net Business SUV | US$205 fixed to International Drive; hotel priced in the web booker | meets you inside arrivals, waits for delays | Families, late flights, a fixed budget |
The LYNX fare is from the airport's local bus page. The honest reading: one or two adults with a carry-on each, landing at midday, will save money with a taxi, and that is a sensible choice. If your hotel offers a scheduled shuttle that suits your landing time, use it. The pre-booked car wins after a late landing, when there are children who need seats, when the luggage will not fit a cab, and when a fixed price matters more than the cheapest one. Our MCO shuttle vs private car guide compares the options across all the main hotel districts, and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft explains surge pricing in general terms.
Evenings out and park days by the hour
Not every trip from a Universal hotel is a park trip. Groups often want a night out on International Drive, a dinner in Winter Park or a game at the Kia Center downtown. Our hourly chauffeur rate runs from US$95 an hour in a Business Sedan to US$190 an hour in an Executive Sprinter, with a three-hour minimum, and the chauffeur waits between stops.
For a set evening, the Orlando evening out and event night package runs from US$475 in a Business Sedan to US$950 in an Executive Sprinter. The chauffeur follows local rules throughout the evening. For a day that combines a few sights and dinner, the Orlando private driver guide sets out how to plan the hours.
Getting back to MCO after Universal
The return trip deserves the same care as the arrival. Book it when you book the arrival: the published round trip between MCO and International Drive runs from US$295 in a Business Sedan to US$770 in an Executive Sprinter, and a Universal hotel round trip is quoted the same way in the web booker.
Check your airline's recommended airport arrival time, then add the drive and a traffic buffer. Morning departures overlap with commuter traffic and with hotel checkout rushes, so a pickup that looks generous on a map is often just right. The chauffeur arrives at your hotel's front entrance, loads the bags and drives you to the departures curb for your airline. If your plans change, the cancellation policy is simple: more than 72 hours before pickup is free; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%. Refunds go to the original card.
Flying into Sanford, or travelling on
If your flight lands at Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), the transfer is longer: about 37 miles (60 km) to International Drive and around 53 minutes on a clear road. The published SFB to International Drive fare runs from US$275 in a Business Sedan to US$715 in an Executive Sprinter.
Many Universal visitors combine Orlando with the coast. MCO has its own Brightline station with trains to West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami, daily between about 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. according to the airport's Brightline page. Our Fort Lauderdale car service and Palm Beach car service pick up at the other end, and Tampa car service covers the Gulf Coast. Our airport transfers page explains how one reservation can cover every leg.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Universal from Orlando International Airport?
Universal is in the same part of town as International Drive, which is about 13 miles (22 km) and roughly 23 minutes from MCO on a clear road. Traffic decides the real time. Convention days, rush hour and summer storms can stretch it, but the fixed price stays the same however long the drive takes.
Is a private car worth it for such a short transfer?
For one or two adults with light bags in the daytime, a taxi is often cheaper. A private car earns its price when you land late, travel with children who need seats, carry a lot of luggage or want the cost fixed before you fly. Because the fare is per vehicle, groups of four to six often find the difference small.
Where do we meet the chauffeur at MCO?
Inside the arrivals area of your terminal, with a name board. MCO has Terminals A, B and C, and the flight number you give at booking tells the chauffeur which one. The chauffeur then helps with the bags and walks you to the vehicle, so you do not need to find the rideshare or taxi curbs.
Can we go from a Universal hotel to a Disney resort mid-trip?
Yes. A hotel-to-hotel transfer is a point-to-point booking quoted as a fixed price in the web booker. Give both hotel names, the number of bags and any child seats. The chauffeur loads everything at one front entrance and unloads it at the next, which is much easier than moving a family's luggage by app ride.
Do you track delayed flights into Orlando?
Yes. Every airport pickup is flight-tracked, so the chauffeur works to the actual landing time. You get complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. Waiting beyond the included time is billed at cost, so if you plan a long stop in the terminal before meeting the chauffeur, tell the desk.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 72 hours before pickup and it is free. Within 72 hours the charge is 10%, within 48 hours 50%, and within 24 hours or for a no-show 100%. Refunds go back to the original card, and the full terms are on our cancellation policy page.
