A pre-booked TPA car service is simple once you know the sequence: you land, ride the shuttle from your Airside to the Main Terminal, collect your bags on the Baggage Claim Level, and your chauffeur is waiting inside with a name board. With Elly8.net the fare from Tampa International Airport (TPA) to downtown Tampa is fixed before you fly, from US$120 in a Business Sedan to US$315 in an Executive Sprinter, and it does not change if the flight is late or I-275 is slow.
This guide follows one arrival from start to finish, then covers the return trip to the airport, luggage capacity by vehicle, and the honest comparison with the airport's flat taxi fare. If you only need the price, the Tampa fares panel lists every route and package.
What happens when you book a car service at TPA?
You give the desk your flight number, pickup and drop-off, and choose a vehicle. Elly8.net confirms a fixed, all-in price by email, assigns a licensed local chauffeur partner, tracks your flight on the day, and the chauffeur meets you inside the terminal with a name board after you collect your bags. Complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included.
The reason this works smoothly at TPA is that the airport is compact and close to town. The fact sheet distance from TPA to downtown Tampa is about 7 mi (12 km), roughly 15 minutes on a clear road. Most of the time you spend between touchdown and drop-off is inside the airport, not on the road.
Before you fly: what the desk needs
A good arrival is decided at booking. Four details matter more than anything else:
- The flight number, not just the time. The chauffeur partner tracks the flight, so an early landing or a two-hour delay is handled without a phone call.
- The real headcount and the real luggage. Golf bags, fishing rods, cruise cases and strollers change the vehicle. Tell us now and we place you in an SUV or a Sprinter rather than discovering the problem at the curb.
- Child seats. Available on request. Give each child's age and weight so the right seat is fitted before pickup.
- The exact drop-off. Downtown is the published route. Westshore, Hyde Park, Harbour Island, Ybor City, Clearwater Beach or a cruise terminal are priced by the Elly8.net web booker as soon as you enter the address, and the quote is fixed when you reserve.
Confirmation arrives by email, followed by the chauffeur's details before pickup. If anything changes, such as a new flight or an extra passenger, contact the 24/7 desk.
Step by step: landing to the curb
1. Touchdown. Your flight is tracked from departure, so the chauffeur is already adjusting to your actual arrival time. You do not need to message anyone from the runway.
2. Airside to Main Terminal. TPA is laid out as separate Airsides connected to the Main Terminal by shuttle. The airport is building Airside D, a 16-gate Airside that will handle international arrivals and departures and is scheduled to open in 2029, according to Tampa International Airport. Until then, follow the signs for the shuttle to the Main Terminal.
3. Baggage Claim Level. Collect your bags. This is where the Elly8.net chauffeur meets you, inside the airport, holding a name board. If you are traveling with only a carry-on, head straight down; the chauffeur is already in position on a tracked landing.
4. The walk to the car. The chauffeur helps with the bags and walks you out to the vehicle. Commercial pickups at TPA use the ground transportation areas outside the Baggage Claim Level, and the chauffeur handles where the vehicle waits.
5. The drive. About 15 minutes to downtown on a clear road. At weekday rush hour on I-275, on a Buccaneers game day or during Gasparilla, allow 30 to 45 minutes. The fare stays the same either way.
6. Drop-off. At the hotel driveway, the office lobby or the cruise terminal door. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost; everything else is already in the price.
Wait times: what "complimentary waiting" means in practice
The two most common worries at any airport are a late flight and a long bag wait. On a pre-booked Elly8.net pickup, the waiting clock is tied to your tracked landing, not to the time printed on your ticket. If the aircraft lands 90 minutes late, the chauffeur arrives for the new landing time and the complimentary waiting starts from there.
What that does not cover is a passenger who decides to have lunch before coming down, or a lost-bag claim that runs very long. In those cases, call the desk number in your confirmation. The chauffeur can usually wait, and any extra time beyond the included allowance is billed at cost, never as a penalty.
Which vehicle fits your luggage
Capacities below come from the Elly8.net fleet page. They are planning figures for normal checked suitcases; oversized items such as golf bags count as more than one bag.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Bags | TPA to downtown Tampa | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Sedan | up to 3 | 2 | US$120 | One or two travelers, business trips |
| First Class Sedan | up to 3 | 2 | US$210 | Executives, special arrivals |
| Business SUV / Van | up to 6 | 6 | US$160 | Families, golf bags, beach gear |
| First Class SUV | up to 6 | 6 | US$195 | Families who want the premium SUV |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | 12 | US$315 | Groups, cruise parties, teams |
Note the price order: the First Class SUV (US$195) costs less than the First Class Sedan (US$210) on this route, so a family of four with luggage often gets more room and a lower fare in the SUV. For a group of eight with cruise luggage, one Executive Sprinter at US$315 replaces two or three separate cars. Our Tampa Sprinter van guide goes through group sizes in detail.
Flat rate vs metered: how the TPA taxi compares
TPA publishes its taxi fares on the airport's ground transportation page, which makes an honest comparison possible. Taxis wait curbside outside the Baggage Claim Level at Ground Transportation Areas Red 1 and Blue 2. The meter is US$3.50 for the first fifth of a mile plus US$2.85 per mile, with a US$22 minimum from the airport and a flat US$40 to downtown Tampa and the cruise terminal.
For one or two people with light bags heading downtown, US$40 is excellent value and we say so plainly. Where the comparison changes:
- You want someone waiting for you. A taxi is a queue at the curb; a pre-booked car is a named chauffeur inside the terminal.
- The address is off the flat-rate list. Outside downtown and the cruise terminal, the taxi runs on the meter. A pre-booked fare is fixed before you land.
- You need a specific vehicle or child seats. Six people with six bags, a car seat for a toddler, or an S-Class for a client are booked in advance, not found at a rank.
- You are arriving late at night. The desk and the chauffeur are already confirmed.
Ride apps are the third option. They pick up at the Red Express Curbside, the Blue Express Curbside or the SkyCenter One remote curbside, and TPA adds a US$5.00 service fee to those fares. Our separate guide on Uber at Tampa Airport covers the pickup zones and how surge pricing affects the airport run.
Going back to TPA: the departure run
Every one-way airport fare on the Tampa price list is the same fixed price in either direction, so downtown Tampa to TPA is also US$120 in a Business Sedan up to US$315 in an Executive Sprinter. The round trip is priced at US$230 in a Business Sedan, US$305 in a Business SUV, US$375 in a First Class SUV, US$400 in a First Class Sedan and US$600 in an Executive Sprinter.
For departures, the desk sets the pickup time from your flight time and the traffic window. A midday flight from a downtown hotel needs less margin than a 5 p.m. departure from Westshore on a Friday or a flight the morning after a Lightning game. Drop-off is at the Departure Level curb for your airline.
Two habits make the departure run calmer. First, put the flight number on the return booking as well, so the desk can see a schedule change before the chauffeur leaves. Second, if you are checking bags for an early morning flight, tell us the airline: the chauffeur pulls up at the right door and you walk straight to the counter instead of along the curb with a cart.
Arrivals that need extra planning
Cruise days. Port Tampa Bay runs Cruise Terminals 2, 3 and 6 along Channelside Drive and McKay Street, per the port's terminal guide. Give us the ship and terminal and the pickup is timed to your boarding window. Our cruise port transfers page explains how post-cruise pickups work.
Game days and Gasparilla. Raymond James Stadium sits a few miles from TPA, and game-day traffic affects the roads around the airport. Gasparilla Pirate Fest is on January 30, 2027, with Children's Gasparilla on January 23, according to the official Gasparilla site; downtown and Bayshore Boulevard close, and drop-offs move to agreed points.
Private aviation. If you are flying privately, give us the tail number and the FBO. See private jet and FBO transfers.
Business arrivals. Travelers heading to Westshore or the Tampa Convention Center often book an hourly chauffeur from the airport and keep the car for meetings. Hourly service in Tampa runs from US$95 an hour in a Business Sedan to US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. Our Tampa private driver guide explains when hourly beats point-to-point.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from TPA to downtown Tampa?
The fixed Elly8.net fare is US$120 in a Business Sedan, US$160 in a Business SUV, US$195 in a First Class SUV, US$210 in a First Class Sedan and US$315 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls, parking and extra waiting are billed at cost.
Where does the chauffeur meet passengers at TPA?
Inside the Main Terminal on the Baggage Claim Level, holding a name board with your name. Take the shuttle from your Airside to the Main Terminal, collect your bags, and the chauffeur will be there. If you cannot see them, call the 24/7 desk number in your confirmation email.
What if the flight is delayed?
Nothing changes on your side. The flight is tracked, the chauffeur adjusts to the actual landing time, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included. The fare is fixed when you book, so a delay does not add to the price unless you ask the chauffeur to wait well beyond the included time.
Is the airport taxi cheaper?
For a small party going downtown, yes. TPA publishes a flat taxi fare of US$40 to downtown Tampa and the cruise terminal. A pre-booked car costs more but gives you a named chauffeur inside the terminal, a chosen vehicle, child seats on request and a fixed price for any address.
Can the return trip to TPA be booked too?
Yes. The fare to the airport is the same as the fare from it, and the round trip is priced from US$230 in a Business Sedan to US$600 in an Executive Sprinter. The desk sets your pickup time from the flight time and the traffic window for that day.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or for a no-show 100%. Refunds go back to the original card.
