A private driver in Tampa means one chauffeur and one vehicle at your disposal for a set block of time, waiting between stops and driving wherever you direct. Through Elly8.net that starts at US$95 an hour in a Business Sedan with a 3-hour minimum, and fixed packages run from a 4-hour city tour at US$380 to a 10-hour corporate roadshow day at US$1,710 in an Executive Sprinter.
The harder question is not the price but the shape of the day. Tampa Bay is spread across two counties and three bridges, and the same 20 miles can take 30 minutes at 11 a.m. or more than an hour at 5:30 p.m. This guide explains how to plan the hours, which package fits which kind of day, and how to pick the right car.
What does a private driver in Tampa cost?
With Elly8.net, a private driver in Tampa costs US$95 an hour in a Business Sedan, US$120 in a Business SUV, US$145 in a First Class SUV, US$155 in a First Class Sedan and US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. Fixed packages cover 4-hour tours, 5-hour evenings, 6-hour Clearwater and St. Pete days and 8-hour full days.
Every price includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes and the standard gratuity. Tolls and parking are billed at cost. Packages are priced a little below the plain hourly rate: the 8-hour full day, for example, is US$700 in a Business Sedan rather than eight times US$95.
Hourly or point-to-point: which do you need?
Book point-to-point when the trip has one start and one end: the airport to a hotel, a hotel to the cruise terminal, or dinner and home. The fixed airport fare from TPA to downtown Tampa is US$120 in a Business Sedan, and our TPA car service walkthrough explains how those pickups work.
Book a private driver by the hour when the day has three or more stops, when you do not know how long each stop will take, or when you want the car waiting outside rather than calling a new one each time. Typical examples in Tampa:
- A morning of meetings in Westshore, lunch downtown and an afternoon site visit in St. Petersburg.
- A family day with Busch Gardens in the morning and a waterfront dinner later.
- A wedding party moving between a hotel, a church, a photo stop on Bayshore Boulevard and the reception.
- A buyer viewing several homes in South Tampa and on Davis Islands.
A useful rule: if you would need three or more separate rides, or you would spend more than 30 minutes waiting for cars, hourly is usually both simpler and better value. Our hourly chauffeur page explains how the clock works.

Knowing Tampa: where the time actually goes
A private driver earns their fee by knowing which roads to avoid. These are the patterns the desk plans around every week.
I-275 at rush hour. The interstate links Westshore, downtown and the northern suburbs, and weekday peaks in the morning and late afternoon can double a short trip. Florida's FL511 traveler information service shows live conditions, and the chauffeur checks it before each leg.
The bridges to Pinellas County. The Howard Frankland, the Courtney Campbell Causeway and the Gandy Bridge are the three ways across Old Tampa Bay to St. Petersburg and Clearwater. Each one has its own peak, and an accident on one quickly backs up the others. A full-day plan that crosses the bay twice should leave room for one slow crossing.
The Selmon Expressway. This toll road, run by the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority, is often the quickest way between South Tampa, downtown and Brandon. Tolls on a booking are billed at cost.
Game days and Gasparilla. Buccaneers home games at Raymond James Stadium slow the roads around Westshore and the airport. Gasparilla Pirate Fest on January 30, 2027 closes Bayshore Boulevard and downtown streets for much of the day, according to the official Gasparilla site. On those days the chauffeur agrees pickup points away from the closures.
Beach traffic. Clearwater Beach is about 20 mi (32 km) from TPA, roughly 35 minutes on a clear road, but weekend afternoons in season are slower on the causeways and on the beach itself.
Which neighborhood, which kind of day
Westshore. Tampa's largest office district and the closest hotel cluster to the airport. Business days often start and end here. A Business Sedan suits one traveler; a First Class Sedan suits a client or an executive.
Downtown, Channelside and Water Street. Offices, the Tampa Convention Center, the arena, the cruise terminals and the Tampa Riverwalk. Stops are close together, so hourly time is spent at the stops, not on the road.
Hyde Park, SoHo and Bayshore Boulevard. Shops, restaurants and the long waterfront drive south of downtown. Evening packages work well: dinner here, a show downtown, and home.
Ybor City. The historic district east of downtown, busy at night. The Ybor City Chamber lists what is on. The chauffeur waits at an agreed corner because the main strip can be closed to traffic on busy nights.
St. Petersburg. Across the bay, with the waterfront, museums and restaurants. The Dalí Museum is the most requested stop on our Clearwater and St. Pete day.
Busch Gardens and the north side. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is about 8 mi (14 km) from downtown on a routed estimate, around 17 minutes on a clear road. A family day often pairs the park with a hotel pickup and a dinner reservation.
Three sample Tampa days, costed
These examples use the fixed Tampa prices so the arithmetic is easy to check.
A Westshore meeting day for one executive. Pickup at a Westshore hotel at 8 a.m., meetings in Westshore and downtown, lunch on Water Street, a 3 p.m. meeting in St. Petersburg and the drop-off at TPA for a 7 p.m. flight. That is about 9 hours with one bay crossing each way. The 10-hour corporate roadshow day covers it with slack: US$855 in a Business Sedan or US$1,395 in a First Class Sedan. Our roadshow chauffeur page explains how multi-meeting days are planned.
A family of five at Busch Gardens. Pickup at a downtown hotel at 9 a.m., the park all day, and a return at 6 p.m. That is nine hours, but the car is not needed during the day. Two point-to-point legs in a Business SUV, priced in the Elly8.net web booker, are usually cheaper than holding the car for the whole day. Hourly makes sense only if the family wants to leave and come back.
An anniversary evening. Pickup at a South Tampa home at 6 p.m., dinner in Hyde Park, a show downtown and a late stop in Ybor City before home by 11 p.m. The 5-hour evening out package fits exactly: US$475 in a Business Sedan or US$775 in a First Class Sedan.
Combining the airport with a private driver
Many Tampa visitors land in the morning and go straight to a meeting or a viewing. Instead of booking an airport transfer and then a separate hourly car, book the hourly chauffeur from TPA. The chauffeur tracks the flight, meets you inside the terminal with a name board, and the booked hours start at your scheduled pickup. Bags stay in the vehicle while you are at your first appointment.
The reverse works for departure days. Check out of the hotel at 9 a.m., keep the car through a morning of meetings or a last afternoon at the beach, and finish at the Departure Level curb. On a 5-hour or 8-hour day this removes one transfer and one round of loading luggage. Tell the desk the flight time so the last leg is planned with enough margin for I-275 and the airport approaches.
How to choose the right car
Business Sedan (up to 3 passengers, 2 bags). The sensible default for one or two people and a working day. Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CT6, Lincoln Continental or similar.
First Class Sedan (up to 3, 2 bags). Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar, for a client, a milestone or a long day where comfort matters.
Business SUV (up to 6, 6 bags). Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon XL. Families, golf bags and anyone carrying beach gear.
First Class SUV (up to 6, 6 bags). Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator. On Tampa's hourly rate it costs US$145, slightly less than the First Class Sedan at US$155.
Executive Sprinter (up to 12, 12 bags). Groups, wedding parties and corporate teams. Our Tampa Sprinter guide covers group days in detail.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a private driver in Tampa per hour?
US$95 an hour in a Business Sedan, US$120 in a Business SUV, US$145 in a First Class SUV, US$155 in a First Class Sedan and US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. Prices are per vehicle and include taxes and standard gratuity. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Is a full day cheaper than paying by the hour?
Yes. The 8-hour full-day chauffeur package is US$700 in a Business Sedan, below the US$760 that eight separate hours would cost. The 10-hour corporate roadshow day is also discounted against the hourly rate, from US$855 in a Business Sedan to US$1,710 in an Executive Sprinter.
Can the driver take us to St. Petersburg and Clearwater?
Yes. The 6-hour Clearwater Beach and St. Pete day trip is a fixed package from US$525 in a Business Sedan to US$1,050 in an Executive Sprinter. The chauffeur drives across the bay, waits at each stop and returns you to your Tampa hotel.
Does the driver wait while we are inside?
Yes. On an hourly booking or a package, the vehicle and chauffeur stay with you between stops for the whole booked time. On busy nights in Ybor City or after a game, the chauffeur waits at an agreed pickup point a short walk away and messages you when in position.
How far ahead should a private driver be booked?
For ordinary weekdays, a few days is usually enough. For Gasparilla weekend, Buccaneers home games, spring wedding season and holiday weeks, book several weeks ahead. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, then 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less and 100% at 24 hours or less.
Are child seats available?
Yes, on request. Give each child's age and weight when you book so the right seats are fitted before pickup. For families carrying strollers or beach bags, a Business SUV or First Class SUV leaves room for everything.
