Uber operates along the French Riviera, and its city directory for the region lists Nice, Èze, Beausoleil, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton, the towns that surround Monaco. Monaco itself has no Uber city page. Inside the principality, the service the Monaco Tourist Office points visitors to is Taxi Monaco, the official taxi company, which charges flat fares for rides within its borders.
So the honest answer to "is there Uber in Monaco" is: check the app on the day, and do not make it the plan for anything that matters, such as an airport arrival or a race-weekend dinner. For those trips, a pre-booked Elly8.net car from Nice airport to Monte-Carlo costs from US$220 per vehicle in a business sedan to US$575 in an Executive Sprinter, fixed in dollars before you travel.
Is Uber available in Monaco?
Uber publishes city pages for Nice, Èze, Beausoleil, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton, but not for Monaco, and its fares depend on current demand. Monaco's official taxi service is Taxi Monaco, on flat fares. Treat an app ride as something to check on the day; a fixed Elly8.net car from Nice airport is from US$220.
The detail that matters is the border, which you will not notice from the back seat. Beausoleil, Cap-d'Ail and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin are in France and run straight into Monaco's streets. Uber's Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur city list includes Beausoleil and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, so a guest staying in an apartment on the French side is in a different position from a guest at a hotel on Place du Casino.
The tourist office adds a rule that works the other way. According to its taxi guide, you must be on Monaco territory for Taxi Monaco to collect you, so it will not pick you up in Beausoleil or Cap-d'Ail, and trips from France into Monaco, including the airport transfer, are made by French taxis. Our Monaco taxi guide lists those fares in full.
What Uber looks like at Nice airport
Almost every visit to Monaco starts at Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, where Uber is well established. Its Nice airport pickup page sends riders to the ride-app pickup area in the Parking Pro car park: through exit D4 at Terminal 1, and through exit A3 at Terminal 2, following the signs marked Parking Pro - Ride App Pick-up. Uber notes that the exact zone can change with the terminal, time of day, airport rules and construction, and that the driver may contact you to arrange a different meeting point.
The ride types Uber lists for the airport include UberX, Comfort, UberXL, which it describes as suiting up to six riders or four with luggage, and a Van option for up to six. Uber Reserve lets you book an airport pickup up to 90 days ahead, lock in the price and cancel free until one hour before pickup, or until a driver accepts. That is a genuine improvement on requesting a car after landing, and worth knowing about if you prefer the app.
What it does not give you is a person inside the arrivals hall. The walk to Parking Pro is short, but after an overnight flight through Paris or London, with a cart of bags and children in tow, it is the part of the trip where the plan most often frays. A missed connection also means rebooking the ride yourself from the new arrival time.
How demand pricing works on the Riviera
Uber is open about how fares are set. Its airport page says the cost of a ride from Nice airport depends on the ride type, the estimated length and duration of the trip, tolls and city fees, and current demand for rides. It does not publish what the multiplier is at any moment, and neither will we, because the only reliable figure is the one in the app when you request.
What we can say is when demand on this coast peaks. The Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco runs from 4 to 6 June 2027, with sessions on all three days. The Monaco Yacht Show follows from 22 to 25 September 2027 at Port Hercule. The Cannes Film Festival, from 11 to 22 May 2027, fills the whole Riviera with guests who move between Cannes, Nice and Monaco. Summer weekends, late evenings when the restaurants empty and the hour after any big session all bring the same pattern: many people wanting cars at once, and fewer cars free.
A reserved ride helps with the price, but it still depends on a driver accepting the trip. A pre-booked chauffeur is assigned by the desk and confirmed by email, and the fare in dollars does not move.
Monaco's terrain, and why pickups are fiddly
Monaco is built up a cliff, and that shapes every pickup. The A8 motorway reaches the principality by three exits: exit 56 for Monaco and Cap-d'Ail and exit 57 for La Turbie, which lead down through a tunnel to the southern districts, and exit 58 for Beausoleil, which enters near Larvotto, according to the tourist office's road access page. The coast road, the Basse Corniche, comes in along the sea from Nice.
Inside, streets fold back on themselves between levels, many hotels have tight forecourts, the old town on the Rock restricts vehicles, and the station sits underground with exits in four districts. An app pin dropped at the wrong level can leave you and the driver a few hundred metres apart and a lift ride from each other. A chauffeur who knows the hotel entrance, the berth number or the restaurant's side door removes that problem; tell us the address and we plan the meeting point before the day.
Uber vs Taxi Monaco vs a pre-booked car
| Option | Price | Booking | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uber or another app from the French side | Varies with demand | Request now, or Reserve ahead at the airport | Light travellers in Nice, Èze or Beausoleil who check the app on the day |
| Taxi Monaco inside the principality | €18 on demand, €28 booked | App or phone, 24/7 | Short hops inside Monaco |
| French taxi, Nice airport to Monaco | €95 fixed | Rank at entrance A3 | Spontaneous arrivals with light luggage |
| Helicopter to the Monaco heliport | Set by the operators | Operator booking | Speed, light bags, race weekend |
| Elly8.net business sedan, Nice airport to Monte-Carlo | US$220 fixed, per vehicle | Reserve online or by the web booker | Long-haul arrivals, families, events, fixed budgets |
| Elly8.net Business SUV, same route | US$290 fixed, per vehicle | Reserve online | Six passengers and six bags in one car |
The French taxi fare comes from the Nice airport taxi page, which lists €95 to Monaco as a 2026 indicative price excluding supplements. The helicopter, which the tourist office describes as a flight of about seven minutes with a free minibus to your hotel included, is often the smartest choice on a heavy-traffic day if you are travelling light.
When the app is a reasonable choice
Be fair to the app. If you are staying in Nice and want a short ride to Villefranche or Èze in the afternoon, an app ride is quick and the price is shown before you accept. If you are leaving Nice for the airport, a reserved ride with a locked price is a sensible budget choice. And if you are based on the French side of the border, the app works much as it does at home.
For trips that start inside Monaco, the official taxi is the simpler tool for short hops: flat fares, an app of its own, a 24/7 phone line and a service built for exactly that job.
Tips if you do use an app around Monaco
Drop the pin at the right level. In a city of tunnels, lifts and switchbacks, set the pickup at a hotel entrance or a named street address rather than a point on the map, and read the street name back before you confirm. At the station, name the exit you will use: Monte-Carlo, Parvis Sainte-Dévote, La Condamine or Fontvieille and the Rock.
Use Reserve for the airport run. If you are flying out of Nice and staying on the French side, a reserved ride locks the price, and Uber's free cancellation runs until one hour before pickup. Leave a wide margin in summer, when the A8 slows near the toll plazas and the airport drop-off lanes fill.
Check the vehicle before you get in. Match the plate and the driver's name in the app, as you would at home, and keep your bags in sight while they are loaded.
Keep a fallback. Save the Taxi Monaco app or its 24/7 number, +377 93 15 01 01, for trips inside the principality. On a busy night it is good to have a second option ready.
Know the luggage limits. Uber describes UberXL as suiting six riders, or four with luggage. A family with large suitcases may need two cars, which is where a single Business SUV at a fixed fare starts to make more sense.
When the pre-booked alternative is worth it
Arrivals that cannot go wrong. The chauffeur tracks your final flight, waits inside arrivals with a name board and handles the bags. Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, and a missed connection simply moves the pickup to the new flight. See meet and greet.
Groups with real luggage. Our fleet table puts three passengers and two bags in a Business Sedan, six and six in a Business SUV, and twelve and twelve in an Executive Sprinter at US$575 from the airport. One vehicle, one fixed fare, per vehicle rather than per person; see the fleet.
Race week and show week. A car booked by the hour, at US$100 an hour in a business sedan with a 3-hour minimum, stays with you between the circuit, lunch and the hotel, and the desk plans around road closures. The evening out and event night package costs from US$500. See sports event transportation and Monaco car service by the hour.
Corporate travel. Assistants book principals and guests through a corporate account, with monthly invoicing and NDAs on request.
Budgets in dollars. Fares include the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet, with tolls and parking billed at cost. For the wider comparison, read Uber Black vs a pre-booked chauffeur.
Staying in Cannes or Nice for the Grand Prix
Many guests skip Monaco hotels on race weekend and travel in each morning. That works well if the car is arranged ahead and timed around the sessions. Our guide to the Cannes to Monaco transfer sets out the routed drive and the train option from the west, and the Nice chauffeur page covers stays closer in.

Frequently asked questions
Does Uber work in Monaco?
Uber publishes city pages for the French towns around Monaco, including Beausoleil, Èze, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton, but none for Monaco itself. Open the app on the day to see what it offers. For short trips inside the principality, Taxi Monaco runs on flat fares of €18 on demand or €28 booked ahead.
Where does Uber pick up at Nice airport?
Uber directs riders to the Parking Pro ride-app pickup area: exit D4 at Terminal 1 and exit A3 at Terminal 2, following the Parking Pro signs. The exact spot can change, so follow the in-app directions after requesting. A pre-booked chauffeur meets you inside arrivals with a name board instead.
Is Uber expensive during the Monaco Grand Prix?
Uber says its prices depend on current demand, and demand on the Riviera peaks around the Grand Prix on 4 to 6 June 2027. It does not publish the multiplier in advance. A reserved ride or a pre-booked car fixes the price; Elly8.net fares do not change with demand.
How much is a private car from Nice airport to Monaco?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer to Monte-Carlo costs from US$220 in a business sedan, US$290 in a business SUV and US$575 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. The fare includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost, and the same fare applies to the airport run home.
Is the helicopter worth it instead?
Often, for light travellers. The tourist office describes a flight of about seven minutes from Nice airport to the Monaco heliport, with a free minibus to your hotel included in the booking. For families, heavy bags or child seats, a door-to-door car is simpler.
Can a chauffeur collect from Beausoleil?
Yes. A pre-booked car collects from any address on either side of the border at a fixed price, quoted in the web booker. Taxi Monaco, by contrast, can only collect passengers on Monaco territory, according to the tourist office, so guests staying on the French side use French taxis or a booked car.
