Uber in Frankfurt is easy to find at the airport, because Frankfurt Airport publishes the pickup zones itself: the short-term car park P31 at Terminal 1 and the charter bus lane P62 at Terminal 3. In the city, app rides are widely available on ordinary days. The catch is the calendar. Frankfurt's trade fairs fill the city for days at a time, and that is when app prices rise and cars take longer to reach you.
This guide covers where Uber picks up at FRA, how app rides work under German rules, how they compare with the taxi rank and the S-Bahn, and when a fixed-price chauffeur makes more sense. A pre-booked Elly8.net car from Frankfurt Airport to the banking district costs from US$130 in a business sedan to US$340 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, the same in either direction.
Where does Uber pick up at Frankfurt Airport?
According to Frankfurt Airport, Uber pickups and drop-offs at Terminal 1 use the short-term car park P31 on the departures level. At Terminal 3, pickups use the charter bus lane P62 and drop-offs the departures level P63. The airport asks passengers to book the ride in advance through the app.
The details are on Frankfurt Airport's ride-hailing and car-sharing page, which describes the zones as offering the shortest routes to the check-in areas of each terminal. The same page says taxis are available around the clock at all three terminals and at the long-distance train station, and that the journey from Frankfurt takes between 20 and 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Two practical notes for arrivals. First, the Terminal 1 zone is on the departures level, so after collecting bags in arrivals you go up to meet the car. Second, if you land at Terminal 3 and want the train instead, the airport says the SkyLine people mover takes about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the stations at Terminal 1.

How app rides work in Germany
German federal law treats an app car that is not a taxi as a private hire vehicle. Under section 49 of the Passenger Transport Act, such a car may only carry out bookings received at the operator's base, recorded electronically if made by app, and after each trip it must return to base unless a new booking came in before or during the ride.
For you as a passenger, that has two effects. Availability depends on where cars are between jobs, so waits can vary more than you might expect from home. And the price is the app's: it is quoted before you confirm and rises with demand. German law does let a licensing authority set minimum fares for private hire cars under section 51a, but above that floor the quote moves. We do not publish an Uber fare, because there is no published one.
Taxis work on different terms. The state sets the taxi tariff by ordinance under section 51, so a rank taxi charges the official meter rate rather than a demand-based price.
Surge on Messe days: why Frankfurt is different
Messe Frankfurt is one of the largest trade fair grounds in the world, about 3 km (2 mi) from the banking district on our routing. On big fair days, visitors arrive in the morning and leave in the evening in large waves, and hotels across the Rhine-Main region fill up. Every app, taxi and hotel shuttle is busy at the same moments.
The next editions published by the organisers include:
- Ambiente, 29 January to 2 February 2027, according to Ambiente.
- ISH, 15 to 19 March 2027, according to ISH.
- Frankfurter Buchmesse, 6 to 10 October 2027, according to the book fair.
On those days, expect demand pricing on apps, queues at taxi ranks near the halls at closing time, and slower journeys on the Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage and the motorway approaches. A visitor going to the Messe for one day can take public transport and live with it. An exhibitor who needs to be at the stand at 8 am every day, or a buyer moving between halls, hotel and client dinners, is better served by a car booked by the hour, from US$85 an hour in a Business Sedan to US$170 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. See conference and trade show transportation.
FRA to the city: Uber, taxi, S-Bahn or chauffeur
FRA is about 20 km (13 mi) from the banking district, roughly 24 minutes on a clear road. The airport's rail page says the regional station is on the lower level of Terminal 1, served by S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 and regional trains, and that Terminal 3 connects to it by SkyLine in about 10 to 15 minutes.
| Option | Price | Where you board | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S-Bahn S8 or S9 | Regional fare per person | Regional station, Terminal 1 lower level | You carry it | Solo travellers near Hauptbahnhof or the towers |
| Taxi | Official metered tariff | Ranks at all three terminals | Standard taxi boot | Couples, no booking, any hour |
| Uber | Quoted in the app, varies with demand | T1: P31, departures level. T3: P62 | Depends on the car sent | App users with flexible timing |
| Elly8.net Business Sedan | US$130 fixed, per vehicle | Met inside arrivals with a name board | 3 passengers, 2 bags | Executives, fixed budgets |
| Elly8.net Business SUV | US$170 fixed, per vehicle | Met inside arrivals | 6 passengers, 6 bags | Families with transatlantic luggage |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter | US$340 fixed, per vehicle | Met inside arrivals | 12 passengers, 12 bags | Deal teams, fair delegations |
The fair verdict. One traveller with a carry-on, landing at Terminal 1 and staying near the Hauptbahnhof or the banking district, is well served by the S-Bahn and should take it. A couple who want no booking at all will find the taxi rank reliable at any hour. An app ride is fine for a light traveller comfortable with the app, on a normal day.
The pre-booked car wins in specific situations: a board meeting an hour after landing, a family with child seats and five cases, a team of eight with presentation kit, a Terminal 3 arrival when you do not want to ride the SkyLine with luggage, or a fair week when every other option is stretched. If you do use Uber at FRA: five practical tips
App rides are a reasonable choice for many travellers, and if that is your plan, a little preparation helps.
- Check your terminal before you land. The pickup zone is different at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and the two terminals are not next to each other.
- Collect your bags first. Request the car once you are through passport control and baggage reclaim, not from the aircraft, so the driver is not waiting before you are ready.
- Follow the airport's signs to the zone. At Terminal 1 that means going up to the departures level for P31.
- Match the plate. In a busy zone, several cars may arrive at once. Get only into the car the app shows.
- Have a fallback. On a fair morning, if the app shows a long wait or a high price, the taxi ranks at every terminal and the S-Bahn are close by.
If any of those steps sound like more than you want after an overnight flight, that is the case for a name board in arrivals instead.
What the pre-booked alternative actually includes
The chauffeur checks which terminal your airline uses, tracks the landing and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board after you clear passport control and collect bags. Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, which matters after a morning transatlantic arrival with a long immigration queue. You walk to the car with the chauffeur rather than searching for a pickup zone on another level.
The fixed fares from FRA to the banking district are US$130 in a Business Sedan, US$170 in a Business SUV, US$210 in a First Class SUV, US$230 in a First Class Sedan and US$340 in an Executive Sprinter. They include the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet; tolls and parking are billed at cost. The same price applies from the city to the airport, and a round trip costs from US$250 in a sedan to US$650 in a Sprinter. For departures, tell us the airline; Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are not a short walk apart. See airport transfers and meet and greet.
Rides in Frankfurt are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley.
Frankfurt as a business city: days, not rides
Much of Frankfurt's travel is corporate: meetings in the banking district, the Westend and the Messe, dinners in Sachsenhausen and an evening flight out. Booking an app ride for each leg means a new wait and a new price every time. The corporate roadshow day, from US$765 in a Business Sedan to US$1,530 in an Executive Sprinter, keeps one car and chauffeur with you all day. A corporate account adds fixed FRA fares, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request, with the same terms in Munich, Zurich and our North American cities. Read more on corporate car service and investor roadshows.
Evenings and match nights
Eintracht Frankfurt play at Deutsche Bank Park in the city forest south-west of the centre, about 7 km (4 mi) from the banking district on our routing. When a full stadium empties, app demand spikes and the roads towards the airport side of the city fill. The evening out and event night package keeps a car waiting at an agreed point, from US$425 in a Business Sedan to US$850 in an Executive Sprinter. See sports event transportation.
Day trips where an app is not the answer
An app ride takes you somewhere; it does not wait. For a day out of the city, the chauffeur stays with you. The signature Frankfurt package is an 8-hour day in the Rhine Valley and Rüdesheim, from US$630 in a Business Sedan to US$1,255 in an Executive Sprinter; see wine tours. Heidelberg, about 94 km (58 mi) on our routing and roughly an hour on a clear road, works at the full-day chauffeur rate of US$630 to US$1,255. The chauffeur follows local rules inside the vehicle.
If your trip continues south, our guides to Munich day trips with a driver and Munich Airport to the city centre cover the next leg, and the same desk runs Munich, Zurich and Brussels.

Frequently asked questions
Is Uber available at Frankfurt Airport?
Yes. Frankfurt Airport lists Uber pickup and drop-off at Terminal 1 in the short-term car park P31 on the departures level, and at Terminal 3 pickup in the charter bus lane P62 with drop-off on the departures level P63. The airport asks you to book in advance through the app.
Does Uber surge in Frankfurt?
App prices are quoted before you confirm and rise with demand, so fair days at Messe Frankfurt, match nights and bad weather are when quotes are highest. Taxis charge the official metered tariff instead. A pre-booked Elly8.net fare is fixed when you book.
Is a taxi or Uber better from FRA?
Both reach the city in about 20 to 30 minutes, according to the airport. Taxis wait at all three terminals around the clock and charge the official tariff; Uber uses set zones and an app price. For a fixed total and a name board in arrivals, a pre-booked car costs from US$130.
How do I get from Terminal 3 to the train?
Frankfurt Airport says the SkyLine connects Terminal 3 with the stations at Terminal 1 in about 10 to 15 minutes. The S-Bahn S8 and S9 leave from the regional station on Terminal 1's lower level.
How much is a private car from FRA to the banking district?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer costs from US$130 in a Business Sedan, US$170 in a Business SUV, US$210 in a First Class SUV, US$230 in a First Class Sedan and US$340 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, with meet and greet included.
Can I book a car for a whole Messe week?
Yes. Hourly cars from US$85 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, or corporate roadshow days from US$765, keep exhibitors and buyers on schedule. Book as soon as your fair dates are fixed, since cars of every kind are in high demand during fair weeks.
