Coachella transportation comes down to where you sleep and which entrance your mode of travel uses. The festival runs April 9 to 11 and April 16 to 18, 2027, at the Empire Polo Club, 81-800 Avenue 51, Indio, and every option, from the shuttle to rideshare, parking, bikes and private cars, has its own lot, path and hours. Pick the wrong one for your base and you spend the best part of the night in a queue.
This is the complete map: what each option costs where a price is published, where it drops you, and which bases it suits. Elly8.net books private cars for festival groups from US$100 an hour in a Business Sedan and US$200 in a 12-seat Executive Sprinter, 3-hour minimum, per vehicle. Rides in Palm Springs are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
What is the best way to get to Coachella?
For most guests, the official shuttle: the festival calls it the best choice, and the 2027 Coachella Shuttle Pass is listed at US$150 for a weekend. Guests staying very close can walk or bike on the marked paths. Groups in rental houses off the shuttle routes, and anyone on a fixed schedule, are better served by a private car.
The rules below come from two official pages: the festival's getting here guide, which in October 2026 still carried the 2026 details and is normally updated before each edition, and the 2027 passes page for current prices. Check both again in March.

The shuttle
The shuttle pass is sold through the festival's hospitality partner and covers rides from participating stops for the weekend. The festival says shuttles have dedicated routes and drop off and pick up closest to the festival entry, the shortest walk of any option. The passes page also sells a GA plus 3-day shuttle bundle that it says saves US$20, hotel packages with shuttle service, and a one-way LAX shuttle on both weekends.
The shuttle's limitation is geography and timing: it serves its stops on its schedule. If your hotel is on a route and you are happy with its rhythm, take it. Our Coachella shuttle vs private car comparison works through the costs for different group sizes.
Driving and parking
Preferred Parking is listed at US$299 for the weekend and is good all three days, with entry through the north entrance. The festival's rules are strict: no entry after 10 p.m., no vehicle ins and outs, no pick-ups or drop-offs, a vehicle size limit of 8.5 by 16 feet, everyone in the vehicle wearing a wristband, and cars left after 2 a.m. towed. Day parking runs on the same hours but is not guaranteed because of capacity.
The 2026 guide gave two directions from I-10 eastbound: for Preferred Parking, exit at Monroe Street, head south, turn right at Avenue 49 and left into Lot 1, and do not approach northbound on Monroe; for camping lots, exit at Jefferson Street. It also said to follow the signs and traffic staff, because routes change. Parking makes sense for a full car with a willing designated driver. The festival also runs a CARPOOLCHELLA contest with prizes for cars carrying four or more friends.
Rideshare
The rideshare lot in 2026 was Lot 1D at Avenue 49 and Monroe Street, reached on the Yellow Path, open Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. The festival itself warns that the longest waits come between midnight and 2:30 a.m., and suggests checking every product type in the app for the shortest wait. Prices are set by the app at request and respond to demand, so the ride home after the headliner is typically the most expensive of the day. Rideshare works well for an afternoon arrival and less well for the late exit.
Private cars and limousines
This is the rule most people do not know. In 2026 the festival required a pass for black car and limousine drop-off on site, sold to operators (it listed US$3,500 for limousines of 10 seats or fewer and US$5,000 for larger shuttle vehicles), with drop-offs and staging from noon to 10 p.m. and pickup staging until 11 p.m. Vehicles without a pass were sent to the public pick-up and drop-off area at Madison Street and Avenue 52.
When you book a private car, the desk confirms which of those your vehicle will use, so you know the drop-off and the end-of-night meeting point before you arrive. A pre-booked car does not avoid festival traffic, but it does avoid the app queue and surge pricing at 1 a.m. How to run a driver for the weekend, including the exit timing, is in our Coachella private driver guide.
Bikes, walking and public transit
The festival lists four pedestrian and bike access points: Avenue 50 and Madison (Red Path), Avenue 52 and Madison (Green Path), Avenue 49 and Monroe (Yellow Path) and Avenue 52 and Monroe (Blue Path). Bikes must stay on the coloured paths, motorised scooters are prohibited, and lights and reflectors are required at night. The 2026 guide also placed a bike rack near the shuttle lobby on the Yellow Path. Pedestrians are not allowed on Monroe between Avenues 49 and 52, or on Madison between Avenues 50 and 52.
For public transit, the guide lists SunLine buses across the valley, the Greyhound station in Indio at 83-100 Indio Boulevard, and Amtrak stations and bus stops in the Indio and Palm Desert area. These suit budget travellers on daytime schedules more than late exits.
Camping and car camping
Campers solve the daily commute by sleeping on site, but they still have to get there with tents, coolers and bags. The 2026 guide listed Companion Camping Parking in Lot 2A from Thursday at 9 a.m. to Monday at 9 a.m., one space per order, and a Thursday pick-up and drop-off area in Lot 2A from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Car camping sites and premium camping areas had their own lots and the same Thursday-to-Monday window. The passes page warns that if you drive out of a car camping site you forfeit the spot, with no re-entry.
For a camping group without a car, the practical plan is a drop-off on Thursday with all the gear and a collection on Monday morning, booked as two transfers. An Executive Sprinter takes up to 12 passengers and 12 bags, which suits a camping group better than several small cars. Confirm the current camping drop-off lot with the desk before you travel.
Choosing by where you stay
| Your base | Clear-road drive to the polo fields (our routing) | Usually best | Consider a private car when |
|---|---|---|---|
| La Quinta or Indio | about 6 mi (9 km) from La Quinta | walk, bike, shuttle or a short ride | the group is large or has children |
| Palm Desert, El Paseo | about 7 mi (11 km) | shuttle | you want your own exit time |
| Rancho Mirage | between Palm Desert and Palm Springs | shuttle | the resort is off the shuttle route |
| Downtown Palm Springs | about 25 mi (40 km), around 40 min | shuttle | a rental house off-route, a group of 6 to 12 |
| Palm Springs airport (PSP) | about 24 mi (38 km), around 36 min | private transfer on arrival day | always, for the luggage leg |
| Los Angeles | a long drive | the festival's LAX shuttle, or a private transfer | you want door to door |
Festival traffic makes every drive slower than the clear-road time. For Los Angeles and other long routes, see city to city car service and our Los Angeles car service page.
Getting to the valley in the first place
Palm Springs International (PSP) is the closest airport. A pre-booked car from PSP to downtown Palm Springs is a fixed US$125 in a Business Sedan, US$165 in a Business SUV and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, the same in either direction, and the web booker prices any address in the valley. PSP says taxis may offer a US$25 flat fare for eligible trips from the airport, including airport fees, and directs rideshare to the south end of the terminal. Our Palm Springs airport car service guide has the arrival walkthrough. Groups planning a celebration night alongside the festival can read about Palm Springs party buses and Sprinters.
Five decisions that make the weekend work
- Base first. Choose where you stay knowing how you will travel; a cheap rental far from a shuttle stop can cost more in transport than it saves.
- One mode for the festival, one for the airport. The shuttle does not carry your suitcases from PSP.
- Fix the exit. Agree a meeting point and time before you go in, whatever the mode.
- Book early. Festival weekends are the busiest days of the year for cars in the valley.
- Check the guide in March. Lots, hours and rules can change for 2027.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the Uber and Lyft pickup at Coachella?
In the 2026 guide it was Lot 1D at Avenue 49 and Monroe Street, reached on the Yellow Path, open Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. The festival warned that waits are longest between midnight and 2:30 a.m. Check the guide again before the 2027 festival.
Can a limo drop us at the Coachella entrance?
Only with the festival's on-site pass, which in 2026 operators bought for each vehicle. Vehicles without a pass used the public pick-up and drop-off area at Madison Street and Avenue 52. The desk confirms your drop-off point when you book.
How much is Coachella parking?
The 2027 passes page lists Preferred Parking at US$299 for the weekend, fees included, with entry through the north entrance. There are no pick-ups or drop-offs in that lot, no entry after 10 p.m., and cars left after 2 a.m. are towed.
How far is Coachella from Palm Springs?
On our routing, downtown Palm Springs to the Empire Polo Club is about 25 miles (40 km), around 40 minutes on a clear road. Festival traffic makes it much longer at peak times, so plan generous margins.
Is there public transport to Coachella?
The festival lists SunLine buses, the Greyhound station in Indio and Amtrak stations and bus stops in the Indio and Palm Desert area. They suit daytime travel on a budget; the official shuttle is the more practical choice for most festival-goers.
Can a private car take us from the airport to our rental house?
Yes. PSP to downtown Palm Springs is a fixed US$125 to US$325 by vehicle class, and any other valley address is priced in the web booker. Add your flight number so the chauffeur meets you in arrivals with a name board.
