A Seattle airport cruise transfer links two schedules you do not control: an airline's and a cruise line's. Sea-Tac is a 30 to 40 minute drive from both cruise terminals, according to the Port of Seattle, so the drive itself is rarely the problem. What causes stress is the margin either side of it: a flight that lands too close to the boarding window, a car too small for the luggage, or a disembarkation morning when everyone leaves the ship at once.
An Elly8.net transfer is booked against your flight number and your ship's pier, with the vehicle chosen by bag count. The chauffeur meets you inside at baggage claim and drives to the terminal curb at Pier 66 or Pier 91; the fixed price is quoted in the web booker before you pay, and for reference the published Sea-Tac to downtown fare starts at US$170. This guide is about the airport end of the trip in both directions. For the piers themselves, drop-off lanes and city-side logistics, see our Seattle cruise port transportation guide.
How early should you land in Seattle before a cruise?
Leave a generous margin between landing and your cruise line's boarding window: an early flight on sailing day for domestic travelers, or the day before for international arrivals and anyone on a long-haul connection. Sea-Tac to either Seattle cruise terminal is a 30 to 40 minute ride, but bags, customs and pier traffic take longer.
The cruise line sets your check-in window, and it is printed on your cruise documents; work back from it. Three things eat time between the aircraft door and the terminal curb:
- Bags. A domestic arrival with checked bags waits at the carousel. At SEA, flights at satellite gates take longer to reach baggage claim.
- Customs. International arrivals collect their bags at the International Arrivals Facility before passport control. The Port of Seattle says clearing U.S. Customs and Border Protection typically takes 60 minutes or more, longer when several flights land at once.
- The pier approaches. On a busy turnaround day, several ships embark across the two terminals and the roads to them slow.
A flight from an airport with U.S. preclearance is processed at the origin and arrives like a domestic flight. A flight from Europe or Asia is the case for flying in the day before and treating the night in Seattle as part of the holiday.

The season and the busy days
Seattle's cruise season is concentrated in a few months. The Port's 2027 preliminary cruise schedule, published in October 2026, starts with a late-March port call and runs homeport sailings from late April to mid-October. Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest days, often with three ships in port across the two terminals on the same day, and Fridays and Mondays are close behind.
On those days, the airport fills with cruise passengers in the morning and again at midday. The arrivals hall, the third-floor taxi and app pickup in the garage, and the roads to the waterfront are all busier. That is the main argument for a pre-booked car with a chauffeur already waiting inside: the busy part of the airport is the part you skip.
Which pier, and why it matters for the transfer
The Port of Seattle runs two cruise terminals in different parts of the waterfront:
| Terminal | Address | Cruise lines listed by the Port | Transit from SEA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bell Street Cruise Terminal, Pier 66 | 2225 Alaskan Way, downtown waterfront | Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises | No direct transit; Link to downtown then a short ride or walk |
| Smith Cove Cruise Terminal, Pier 91 | 2001 W Garfield Street, north end of Elliott Bay | Carnival, Celebrity, Cunard, Holland America, MSC, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Virgin Voyages | None to the terminal |
Lines can move ships between piers from one season to the next, and the 2027 preliminary schedule already shows some sailings at the other terminal, so check the pier on your cruise documents before you book. The terminal pages for Pier 66 and Pier 91 list the ships and services. Give us the pier and the sailing time with the booking, and the chauffeur plans the route and the arrival.
Luggage: choose the vehicle by bags, not people
Alaska cruise luggage is bigger than a city break. Coats, boots, formal clothes and camera gear add up, and a couple can easily travel with three large cases and two carry-ons. Choose the vehicle by bag count:
| Vehicle | Passengers | Bags | Typical cruise party |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Sedan or First Class Sedan | up to 3 | up to 2 | A couple with one case each |
| Business SUV or First Class SUV | up to 6 | up to 6 | A couple with several cases, or a family of four |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | up to 12 | Two or three couples travelling together, a family group |
For reference, from Sea-Tac to downtown Seattle the published fares are US$170 in a Business Sedan, US$225 in a Business SUV, US$275 in a First Class SUV and US$445 in an Executive Sprinter. The pier transfer is priced in the booker. Child seats are available on request and fitted before pickup. Our Seattle Sprinter van rental guide helps groups decide between one large vehicle and two SUVs.
From the gate to the gangway, step by step
- Before you fly, book with the flight number, the pier and the sailing time, and the passenger's mobile number.
- On landing, the desk sees the actual arrival. Complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing, so a delay does not cost extra.
- At baggage claim, the chauffeur waits inside with a name board, or at the south-end international exit in Gina Marie Lindsey Hall for international flights, and helps load the cart.
- To the car, which waits under the Port's rules for pre-arranged cars, in limousine stalls on the third floor of the garage or at the Arrivals Drive curb.
- To the pier, about 30 to 40 minutes on a normal day, longer on busy turnaround days.
- At the terminal, the chauffeur unloads at the passenger drop-off and your luggage goes to the porters as directed by the cruise line.

Filling the gap: landing early with hours to spare
If you land at 9 a.m. and boarding opens in the early afternoon, you have a gap and a car full of luggage. Two ways to use it:
Hourly with the bags on board. Book the chauffeur as directed, from US$100 per hour in a Business Sedan or US$125 in a Business SUV, with a 3-hour minimum, through the hourly chauffeur service. The luggage stays in the vehicle while you see Pike Place Market or the Space Needle, and the car finishes at the pier. Three hours in a Business SUV is US$375.
Store the bags at the pier. Both terminals offer same-day luggage storage at US$6 per bag, collected by 3 p.m., according to the Port. On some Norwegian sailings from Pier 66 the Port also describes an early luggage drop-off from 8 a.m. on embarkation day, with guests returning by 2 p.m.; check with your line whether it applies to your ship.
For a longer gap, the private city highlights tour runs from US$400 in a Business Sedan to US$800 in an Executive Sprinter; ask the desk to end it at your terminal.
Disembarkation day: flying home the same day
The return is where cruise passengers lose the most time, because a whole ship leaves within a few hours of docking and many passengers head for the airport at once.
Port Valet
The Port of Seattle offers a complimentary luggage service called Port Valet. If your flight home is on the same day you leave the ship, and you are flying with a participating airline (the Port lists Alaska, American, Delta, Horizon, JetBlue, Southwest and United) on a participating cruise line, your bags can be collected from outside your cabin the night before and checked straight through to your destination. You receive boarding passes on board, skip the airline counter and go straight to security at SEA. Airline baggage fees still apply.
Two consequences for the transfer. First, Port Valet passengers disembark in the first group, so your pickup time is earlier and more predictable. Second, with no checked bags, a smaller vehicle will do: a Business Sedan instead of an SUV, or an SUV instead of a Sprinter. Port Valet does not include passenger transport, so you still book the ride to the airport.
Planning the ride to SEA
Give the desk the ship, the pier, the date and the flight time. The chauffeur meets you at the terminal's ground transportation area and drives you to the Departures Drive at SEA. If your flight is late in the day, consider a gap plan in reverse: a few hours by the hour, or the Snoqualmie Falls and Woodinville wineries day trip (eight hours, from US$740 in a Business Sedan), finishing at the airport. With Port Valet handling the bags, the day is luggage-free.
The Port notes that the airport's departure drives are often congested from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., so leave a comfortable margin before the airline's check-in and security advice.
Why a pre-booked car beats a scramble at the pier
When a large ship empties, the taxi line and the app pickup lot at the terminal fill at the same moment, and app prices follow demand. A pre-booked car is staged and assigned before you walk off the ship, and the price was fixed when you booked. For a family or group with luggage, that is the difference between a calm morning and an hour of waiting. The cost of each option is compared in Seattle airport to the cruise port by Uber, taxi or chauffeur.
Rides in Seattle are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
How to book a cruise transfer

Frequently asked questions
How long is the drive from Sea-Tac to the Seattle cruise terminals?
The Port of Seattle times the ride from the airport to either Pier 66 or Pier 91 at 30 to 40 minutes. On busy turnaround days, when several ships embark, the approaches to the terminals slow, so the chauffeur plans extra time.
Is it wise to fly in on the day of a Seattle cruise?
It can work on a domestic flight that lands early with a generous margin before your cruise line's boarding window. For international flights, long connections or any trip where missing the ship would be serious, fly in the day before. Customs at SEA typically takes 60 minutes or more.
What size car does a cruise transfer need?
Choose by luggage. A sedan takes up to 3 passengers and 2 bags, an SUV up to 6 and 6, and an Executive Sprinter up to 12 and 12. Couples with several large cases usually need an SUV rather than a sedan.
What is Port Valet?
A complimentary Port of Seattle service that checks your bags from the ship straight through to your airline if you fly home the same day with a participating airline and cruise line. You get boarding passes on board and go straight to security at SEA. It does not include passenger transport.
Can the chauffeur wait while we sightsee before boarding?
Yes, on an hourly booking. The luggage stays in the vehicle while you visit the city, and the car finishes at your pier. Hourly runs from US$100 in a Business Sedan with a 3-hour minimum.
Where does the chauffeur meet us at the cruise terminal on the way home?
At the terminal's ground transportation area, where passenger pickups are made. The desk confirms the exact meeting point with your booking; give your mobile number so the chauffeur can reach you when you leave the terminal.
