A private driver for Coachella collects your group at the hotel or rental house, drops you at the agreed point near the Empire Polo Club in Indio, and is back at a pre-arranged meeting point when you want to leave, with no app queue and no surge pricing. Booked through Elly8.net, a Business SUV for up to 6 is US$125 an hour and an Executive Sprinter for up to 12 is US$200 an hour in the Palm Springs area, with a 3-hour minimum, per vehicle and all-in.
Coachella 2027 runs April 9 to 11 and April 16 to 18. The festival grounds have strict rules about where vehicles can stop, and the hardest moment of every day is the exit. This post is about running a driver well: the day plan, the official drop-off rules, the exit strategy and the booking choices that keep the cost sensible. Rides in Palm Springs are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
How does a private driver work at Coachella?
You agree a pickup time, a drop-off point and an end-of-night meeting point with the desk in advance. The chauffeur drops your group, leaves or stages nearby rather than idling at the gate, and returns to the meeting point at the agreed time or when you call. In 2026 the festival required an on-site pass for black car drop-off.
That pass rule shapes everything. According to the festival's getting here page, which in October 2026 still showed the 2026 details, black car and limousine drop-off on site required a pass, with drop-offs and staging allowed Friday to Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. and pickup staging until 11 p.m. Vehicles without a pass were directed to the public pick-up and drop-off area at Madison Street and Avenue 52. The desk confirms which applies to your booking, so you know the meeting point before the weekend starts.

The weekend, day by day
Thursday: arrival. Most groups land at Palm Springs International (PSP), about 24 miles (38 km) from the polo fields, or fly into Los Angeles and drive out. PSP to downtown Palm Springs is a fixed US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, US$165 in a Business SUV, and the web booker prices any rental-house address in the valley. Our Palm Springs airport car service guide covers the arrival.
Friday to Sunday: festival days. One drive in, one drive out, and sometimes a mid-afternoon run for someone who wants to arrive later or leave early.
One evening: a group dinner. Many groups keep one night for a meal in Palm Springs or Palm Desert; the evening out and event night package runs from US$500 in a Business Sedan to US$1,000 in an Executive Sprinter.
Monday: departure. The fare is the same in either direction, so the PSP run home costs what the arrival did.
A festival day, hour by hour
Pickup. Agree the time the night before. On a clear road, downtown Palm Springs to the polo fields is about 25 miles (40 km), around 40 minutes on our routing; Palm Desert's El Paseo is about 7 miles (11 km) and La Quinta about 6 miles (9 km). Festival traffic on I-10 and the avenues around the grounds is far heavier, so leave generous margin for the set you most want to see.
The approach. Traffic is directed by the festival and local traffic staff, and routes can change. The chauffeur follows the signs and the instructions on the day.
Drop-off. At the agreed point: the on-site black car area if the vehicle holds that year's pass, or the public pick-up and drop-off area. Note where you were dropped and which colour path you walked in on. The festival lists pedestrian and bike access at Avenue 50 and Madison (Red Path), Avenue 52 and Madison (Green Path), Avenue 49 and Monroe (Yellow Path) and Avenue 52 and Monroe (Blue Path), and says pedestrians are not allowed on Monroe between Avenues 49 and 52 or on Madison between Avenues 50 and 52.
During the day. The chauffeur does not wait at the curb, because the rules do not allow it. On an hourly booking the car may stage nearby; on a transfer booking it leaves and returns. Either way, one group lead has the chauffeur's number.
The exit. This is the moment that decides the day. Agree the meeting point and a target time before you go in, and pick a plan: leave during the last set's final songs, or wait 30 to 45 minutes after it ends and let the first wave clear. Phones die by midnight, so the meeting point and time must be fixed in advance, not arranged at 1 a.m.
Why a staged car beats the app at 1 a.m.
The festival's own guide puts the rideshare lot at Lot 1D, Avenue 49 and Monroe Street, open 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., and warns that the longest waits come between midnight and 2:30 a.m. App prices respond to demand at exactly that moment. A pre-booked driver has a fixed price set weeks earlier and is already assigned to you. You still meet in festival traffic, and you still walk to the meeting point, but you are not competing with tens of thousands of requests for the next available car.
That is the real reason to book a driver, more than the comfort of the vehicle. If cost is your main concern, the official shuttle pass is cheaper, and our Coachella shuttle vs private car comparison shows the arithmetic honestly.
How to book it without paying for idle hours
| Booking type | Price (Palm Springs area) | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two transfers a day | web booker, fixed quote to your address | drop-off in the afternoon, pickup at the agreed time | Most groups; you pay for driving, not waiting |
| Evening out and event night | US$500 sedan to US$1,000 Sprinter | a five-hour block | Groups arriving for the evening and leaving after the headliner |
| By the hour | US$100 sedan, US$125 SUV, US$200 Sprinter; 3-hour minimum | the car stays with your booking | Short visits, VIP schedules, early leavers |
| Full-day chauffeur | US$740 sedan to US$1,475 Sprinter | one car and driver for the day | Arrival day with errands, or a long day with several runs |
For a full festival day from early afternoon to the end of the night, the hours run long, so two separate transfers usually cost less than holding a vehicle all day. The evening package suits groups who arrive late afternoon and leave after the last set. Hourly suits short visits, such as a hospitality guest who wants three hours on site. All prices are per vehicle, not per person, and include the chauffeur, taxes and standard gratuity; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
As arithmetic for comparison only: twelve friends sharing an Executive Sprinter on the US$1,000 evening package pay about US$83 each for that evening.
Split groups, late arrivals and early leavers
Festival groups rarely move as one block all weekend. Someone lands on Friday afternoon instead of Thursday, someone wants to leave Saturday before the headliner, and a parent wants a car on call for teenagers. The desk can handle this in three ways. A second, smaller vehicle on its own schedule is often simplest: a Business Sedan for two early leavers costs US$100 an hour, against keeping a 12-seat Sprinter waiting for everyone. An hourly window around the expected exit gives flexibility on the one night it matters. Or the late arrival takes a separate transfer from PSP or the rental house to the drop-off point.
The festival also lists an accessible parking lot and publishes accessibility information. If anyone in your group needs a shorter walk or extra help, tell the desk when you book, so the drop-off plan accounts for it.
Choosing the vehicle
- Business Sedan: up to 3 passengers and 2 bags. Fine for a couple with day bags.
- Business SUV or First Class SUV: up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. The usual choice for a group of friends.
- Executive Sprinter: up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. One vehicle for a big house group, and the easiest to find at a meeting point.
If the group might split up during the day, two SUVs give you two exit times. The fleet page shows seats and bags, and Sprinter van with driver explains the high-roof van.
What to tell the desk
- Every pickup address, and whether it is a hotel lobby or a private house with a gate code.
- The number of people and any child seats (available on request).
- The time you want to be dropped and the time you want to leave, with a backup time.
- One or two group leads with mobile numbers.
- Whether anyone might leave early, so the desk can suggest a second vehicle or an hourly window.
The chauffeur follows California's rules on alcohol in vehicles; plan the celebration at the festival, not in the car.
Stagecoach the next weekend
Stagecoach runs April 23 to 25, 2027, on the same grounds, and the same plan works: fixed meeting points, a target exit time and transfers rather than idle hours. Country festival crowds skew towards groups and families, which makes the Sprinter a common choice. Frequently asked questions
How much is a private driver for Coachella?
In the Palm Springs area, Elly8.net lists US$100 an hour for a Business Sedan, US$125 for a Business SUV and US$200 for an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum, per vehicle. The evening out package runs from US$500 to US$1,000, and festival transfers to your exact address are priced in the web booker.
Can the driver wait for us all day?
Not at the gate: the festival limits where vehicles can stop and stage. On an hourly booking the car can stage nearby; on a transfer booking it leaves and returns for the agreed pickup. For a long festival day, two transfers usually cost less than holding the car.
Where will the driver pick us up after the show?
At the meeting point agreed with the desk before the weekend: the on-site black car area if the vehicle holds that year's pass, or the public pick-up and drop-off area, which in 2026 was at Madison Street and Avenue 52. Fix the point and time before you go in.
How early should we book a Coachella driver?
As soon as you have passes. Both festival weekends and Stagecoach are the busiest days of the year for cars in the valley. Cancellation stays free until 72 hours before pickup, so booking early keeps your options open.
Is the price per person?
No, it is per vehicle. Twelve people sharing a US$1,000 Sprinter evening is about US$83 each, but that figure is only arithmetic for comparison with per-person options such as the shuttle pass.
Can you collect us from LAX?
Yes. Long transfers from Los Angeles, Orange County or San Diego are priced at a fixed rate in the web booker. The festival also sells a one-way LAX shuttle on both weekends if you prefer a shared option.
