Around Blue Mountain and Collingwood, the cheapest ride is usually the Blue Mountain Link bus, known as BLINK, at a C$2.25 flat fare while Collingwood's transit runs, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. A Collingwood taxi is the next step up and the simplest choice for a short trip from the Village into town for dinner. Rideshare apps can work, but in a resort area of this size whether a car is nearby depends on the hour, the season and the weather.
A pre-booked Elly8.net chauffeur costs more for a single short hop, from US$110 an hour in a business sedan with a 3-hour minimum, and makes sense when the evening has several stops, the group is large, the roads are snowy or the ride home is after the buses stop. This guide compares the options trip by trip for the journeys visitors actually make: the Village to Collingwood, Scandinave, Thornbury and Wasaga Beach.
Which is best for getting around Blue Mountain and Collingwood?
For one or two people making a short trip while buses run, the BLINK bus at C$2.25 or a local taxi is the best value. Rideshare is worth a try but not a plan. A pre-booked chauffeur from US$110 an hour, or the evening package from US$550, wins for groups, snow, late returns and multi-stop nights.
The distances are short, which is why the decision rests on timing rather than price per kilometre. On our routing, the Village is about 8 km (5 mi) and around 15 minutes from downtown Collingwood, about 16 km (10 mi) and 20 minutes from Thornbury, and about 31 km (19 mi) and 40 minutes from Wasaga Beach. The trips themselves are easy; the questions are whether a ride is available when you want it, and whether everyone fits.
| From Blue Mountain Village | Road distance | Clear-road time | Good option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown Collingwood | about 8 km (5 mi) | about 15 min | BLINK bus, taxi |
| Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain | a few km east, on Grey County Road 21 | a short drive | Taxi, or a chauffeur who waits |
| Thornbury | about 16 km (10 mi) | about 20 min | Taxi, chauffeur |
| Wasaga Beach | about 31 km (19 mi) | about 40 min | Chauffeur for a group, taxi for two |
| Toronto Pearson | about 122 km (76 mi) | about 123 min | Fixed Elly8.net transfer from US$330 |

The BLINK bus: cheap, simple, with a timetable
Collingwood's public transit, Colltrans, runs three routes in town including a connection to the Town of The Blue Mountains, the Blue Mountain Link. According to the Town of Collingwood's public transit page, BLINK has a C$2.25 flat fare, children 5 and under ride free, and since February 2025 the town's transit has run from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, except Christmas Day. The Colltrans terminal is at 28 Second Street in downtown Collingwood, and the town publishes the BLINK schedule and a real-time bus map.
That makes BLINK the obvious choice for a daytime trip into Collingwood or a dinner that ends well before 11 p.m., if you are travelling light. It is less suited to a family carrying ski gear, to chalets on the escarpment away from the route, or to anyone whose evening runs late.
Blue Mountain Resort's own getting here page currently says that no resort shuttles are operating, so do not plan around one.
Collingwood taxis: the short-hop option
Local taxis serve Collingwood, the Village and the surrounding area, and for a couple heading into town for dinner they are the straightforward answer. We could not find a published taxi tariff from either the Town of Collingwood or the Town of The Blue Mountains, so ask the dispatcher for the fare when you call, and agree it before a longer trip such as Wasaga Beach.
Three things decide how well a taxi works here. Timing: on a Saturday night in ski season, or at the end of a big event in the Village, many people want a car at once. Group size: a party of five or six with boots, bags and children may need a larger vehicle or two cars. Weather: lake-effect snow off Georgian Bay can slow everything down, and the escarpment roads up to chalets are steeper and slower in winter than the map suggests.
If you are leaving a restaurant in Collingwood at 10:45 p.m. to return to the Village, call before dessert rather than after the bill.
Uber and other rideshare apps
Rideshare apps can be opened anywhere, but in a resort region of this size the experience is less predictable than in Toronto. Whether a car appears depends on whether a driver happens to be nearby, and late at night, in the shoulder seasons or in a snowstorm, the answer may be no. Prices change with demand, and the app shows you the fare before you confirm.
Our honest advice: if a rideshare appears quickly and the price looks right, use it for a short trip. Do not make it the only plan for the drive home after the buses stop. The broader comparison is on chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft.
Trip by trip: which to use when
Village to Collingwood for dinner, two people, back by 10 p.m. BLINK both ways at C$2.25 each, or a taxi if it is snowing or you are dressed for dinner. A chauffeur is not worth it for this one.
A Scandinave afternoon. Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain, on Grey County Road 21 a short drive from the Village, is an outdoor Nordic spa where most guests stay several hours. A taxi there and a taxi back work well for two. For a group, or a spa afternoon followed by dinner in Collingwood, an hourly chauffeur keeps one car with you, from US$110 an hour in a business sedan or US$140 in a business SUV for up to six.
A night out in Collingwood or Thornbury for a group of eight. Two or three taxis that may or may not arrive together, or one vehicle. The evening out and event night package costs from US$550 in a business sedan to US$1,100 in an Executive Sprinter for up to 12, per vehicle, with the chauffeur waiting and the drive home included. Across eight people, the Sprinter works out at US$137.50 each as arithmetic for comparison; the price itself is per vehicle.
A day at Wasaga Beach. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is about 40 minutes from the Village. For a family with beach gear and children, a business SUV for the day avoids parking hunts and long waits for a ride back; the full-day chauffeur costs from US$810 in a business sedan and US$1,035 in a business SUV.
A chalet on the escarpment, late at night, in snow. This is the trip a pre-booked chauffeur is for. The pickup time is fixed, the chauffeur knows the address and the driveway notes in advance, and the vehicle is chosen for winter roads. Give the full address, the unit and any notes on steep or private driveways when you book.
A sightseeing day. The private highlights tour, from US$440 in a sedan to US$880 in a Sprinter, covers the escarpment lookouts, Collingwood's harbour and main street, Thornbury and the shoreline, with the car waiting at each stop. See private city tours.
Winter evenings and après-ski
Ski season is when the choice matters most. Lake-effect snow off Georgian Bay can arrive quickly, turning a 15-minute drive into Collingwood into something slower, and the escarpment roads up to chalets and private homes are steeper and narrower than the main routes. A walk to a bus stop in ski boots or dinner shoes is also a different proposition in January than in July.
Gear changes the vehicle, too. A business sedan takes up to 3 passengers and 2 bags, enough for a couple with soft luggage. Ski and board bags need the length of a business SUV, which seats up to 6 with room for 6 bags, or an Executive Sprinter for up to 12 people and 12 bags. If your group is heading from a chalet to dinner without gear, the sedan or SUV is plenty; if you are moving between accommodations with everything you brought, size up.
Timing is the other factor. Après-ski and dinner bookings in Collingwood and the Village cluster in the same two or three hours every evening, which is exactly when taxis are busiest. Booking the return ride before you go out is the simplest way to avoid a long wait in the cold.

When a private car is the right call
Be fair to the alternatives first. For a short trip by one or two people while the buses run, BLINK or a taxi is the better choice, and a 3-hour minimum booking at US$330 in a business sedan, as arithmetic from the hourly rate, would be poor value.
The chauffeur earns its price in these situations:
- After 11 p.m., when transit has stopped and taxis and rideshare are stretched.
- Groups of five or more, especially with ski or snowboard bags, which need a business SUV or an Executive Sprinter.
- Families with young children, with child seats fitted before pickup on request.
- Snow days, when you want a vehicle and driver chosen for the conditions.
- Multi-stop plans: a spa, then dinner, then a stop in the Village, with the car waiting at each.
- Weddings and corporate weekends, where many people need to be in the right place at the same time. See wedding limousine and group transportation.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a bus from Blue Mountain to Collingwood?
Yes. Colltrans runs the Blue Mountain Link, known as BLINK, between Collingwood and the Town of The Blue Mountains for a C$2.25 flat fare, with children 5 and under free. The town's transit runs from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, except Christmas Day; check the BLINK schedule on the town's website for exact departures.
How much is a taxi from Blue Mountain to Collingwood?
Neither town publishes a taxi tariff that we could find, so ask the dispatcher for the fare when you call. The trip is short, about 8 km (5 mi) and around 15 minutes on a clear road, so for one or two people it is usually the simplest option after the bus.
Does Uber work at Blue Mountain?
Rideshare apps can be used, but in a resort area of this size availability depends on whether a driver is nearby, and late at night or in a snowstorm one may not be. Use it when a car appears quickly, but do not rely on it for the last ride home.
Is there a shuttle at Blue Mountain Resort?
The resort's getting here page currently says no shuttles are operating. For getting around locally, use the BLINK bus, a taxi or a pre-booked car, and for the trip from Toronto Pearson, book a fixed transfer from US$330 per vehicle.
How much is a private driver around Blue Mountain?
From US$110 an hour in a business sedan, US$140 in a business SUV and US$220 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. The evening out package costs from US$550 and the full-day chauffeur from US$810, per vehicle, including the chauffeur, taxes and standard gratuity.
When is a pre-booked car worth it?
After 11 p.m. when the buses stop, for groups of five or more with gear, for families needing child seats, on snowy nights, and for evenings with several stops. For a short daytime hop by one or two people, the bus or a taxi is better value.
