An Anchorage airport car service booked through Elly8.net costs from US$130 in a business sedan to US$340 in an Executive Sprinter between Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) and downtown, fixed and all-in, the same price in either direction. The chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you inside arrivals with a name board and loads the bags; the fare includes the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and the meet and greet.
The drive itself is short, about 6 miles (10 km) and roughly 13 minutes on a clear road. What makes Anchorage different is everything around it: late-night arrivals from the Lower 48, two terminals that are not interchangeable, winter weather and travellers who land with fishing rods, ski bags and hard cases. This guide walks through the arrival step by step and shows which vehicle fits which load.
How does an Anchorage airport pickup work?
Add your flight number when you book. The desk tracks the flight, and the chauffeur meets you inside the arrivals area of your terminal with a name board, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. Domestic flights use the South Terminal and international flights the North Terminal. The fare is fixed before you fly.
That is the short version. The rest of this guide covers the details that save time on the ground: where to walk, what to tell the desk about luggage, and how early to leave for a departure.
See Anchorage prices and reserve
Step 1: know your terminal
According to the airport, ANC has two passenger terminals. The South Terminal handles domestic flights through Concourses A, B and C; the North Terminal handles international flights. The two are far enough apart that the airport runs a free shuttle between them.
You do not need to work out which one you are using; your flight number tells the desk, and the chauffeur goes to the right building. If you are connecting from an international arrival to a domestic onward plan, or if your airline changes the gate, the flight tracking picks that up.
Step 2: collect your bags, then look for your name
Once you are off the plane, head to baggage claim and collect everything. Your chauffeur is inside the arrivals area with a name board, not circling outside. That matters in Anchorage for two reasons. First, many flights from the Lower 48 land late in the evening or after midnight, when standing at a curb is the last thing you want. Second, in winter, the gap between the terminal door and a waiting car is where the cold hits, so the less time spent outside, the better.
If your flight lands early or late, the pickup moves with it, and you get complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. A slow baggage belt or an oversized item that comes out at a separate counter is covered. Your confirmation email includes the chauffeur's details before pickup so you can message on landing.
Step 3: the walk to the car
The chauffeur takes you to the vehicle, usually parked a short walk away, and loads the luggage. For comparison, the airport's own rules on taxis and rideshare put the South Terminal taxi queue on Level 1 just outside baggage claim, across from Door 3, and rideshare pickups up on Level 2 at ticketing, Doors 1 or 8. At the North Terminal, taxis are across from Door 2 and rideshare is at ground level, Door 2, inner lane. With a pre-booked chauffeur, you skip both.
Luggage: which vehicle for which Alaska load
Alaska trips involve more gear than most. Anglers bring rod tubes and, on the way home, insulated boxes of fish. Skiers bring board and ski bags. Film, survey and research crews bring hard cases. Cruise passengers bring two weeks of clothes. Choose the vehicle by bags as much as by people.
| Vehicle | Passengers / bags | ANC to downtown, one way | Round trip booked together | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Sedan | 3 / 2 | US$130 | US$250 | One or two travellers, carry-on and a suitcase each |
| First Class Sedan | 3 / 2 | US$230 | US$440 | Executive arrivals |
| Business SUV | 6 / 6 | US$170 | US$325 | Families, fishing and ski gear, winter |
| First Class SUV | 6 / 6 | US$210 | US$400 | Premium SUV with room for luggage |
| Executive Sprinter | 12 / 12 | US$340 | US$650 | Groups, crews, cruise parties |
| Jet Sprinter | 6 / 4 | Quoted in the web booker | Quoted | VIP cabin for a small group |
All fares are per vehicle. The bag counts on the fleet page assume standard suitcases. If you are carrying anything long or bulky, such as rod tubes, skis, a fish box or a dog crate, add a note to the booking with the number and rough size of each item. The desk will tell you whether the class you chose works or whether you need the next one up. As a rule of thumb, a couple with two fishing rods and two suitcases fits a business SUV comfortably; the same couple coming home with two fish boxes as well is still an SUV, but a family of four in the same position is a Sprinter.
For larger loads, our Anchorage Sprinter van rental guide explains when one Sprinter beats two SUVs and how crews plan gear days.
Flat rate vs the meter
Anchorage taxis are metered, and the Municipality of Anchorage regulates taxicabs, limousines and vehicles for hire through its Transportation Inspection office. Rideshare prices change with demand and are shown in the app before you accept. Our fare is a flat, published price per vehicle, fixed when you book and the same at 2 a.m. as at noon.
Is the flat fare cheaper? On a 13-minute ride, often not, and we will not pretend otherwise. For one or two travellers with ordinary bags landing in daylight, a taxi from the curb or the People Mover city bus will usually cost less. The airport's public transportation page lists People Mover Route 40 to downtown for US$2.00 a ride, exact cash. Our side-by-side of every option is in the Anchorage taxi or rideshare guide.
The flat fare earns its keep when the meter is not the point: the after-midnight arrival, the family that needs child seats fitted before pickup, the group with gear that will not fit in a cab, the meeting that starts an hour after landing, and the company that needs a receipt matching the quote. See chauffeur vs taxi for the general case.
Beyond downtown: hotels and homes across the municipality
Our fixed airport fare is to downtown Anchorage, the hotel grid between the Delaney Park Strip and Ship Creek. Many travellers stay elsewhere: a Midtown hotel, a home on the Hillside, a lodge in Eagle River or a resort in Girdwood. For any of those, enter the exact address in the web booker for a fixed, all-in price.
Girdwood is the one to plan carefully. On our routed estimate it is about 38 miles (62 km) from downtown, roughly 51 minutes on a clear road along the Seward Highway, longer in snow or summer traffic. A direct airport-to-Girdwood transfer is common for ski weeks and summer weddings; book it as one trip rather than via downtown.
Departures: when to leave for ANC
The departures fare is the same as the arrival fare: US$130 in a business sedan from a downtown hotel to the airport, up to US$340 in a Sprinter. The chauffeur drops you at the departures curb of your terminal and unloads the bags.
From downtown, leaving about two hours before a domestic flight is comfortable on most days. Add time in a snowstorm, on a peak summer morning when cruise passengers and anglers are all flying out, or if you are checking oversized items or fish boxes, which can take longer at the counter. For an international departure from the North Terminal, follow your airline's advice. Booking the round trip together, from US$250 in a sedan, means the return is fixed before you arrive.
Late-night arrivals and winter weather
A lot of Anchorage's air service runs at hours that are inconvenient on the ground. A flight landing at 1 a.m. means a quiet terminal and, in winter, deep cold. This is where pre-booking matters most. The car is assigned before you fly, the chauffeur watches your flight, and if weather pushes your landing back by hours, the pickup moves with it.
In snow and ice, the business SUV is the vehicle we recommend for the extra room and the confidence it gives on winter roads; the price difference from a sedan is US$40 on the airport run. Child seats are available on request for any class. Add each child's age and weight when you book so the seats are fitted before pickup.
Corporate travellers, crews and conferences
Anchorage business travel often means landing in the morning, a day of meetings and a red-eye home. For that pattern, book the airport transfer and an hourly chauffeur for the day, from US$100 an hour in a business sedan with a 3-hour minimum, or the 10-hour corporate roadshow day from US$900. A corporate account gives monthly invoicing, and NDAs are available on request. Conference weeks at the Dena'ina Center bring waves of arrivals, and we plan those as scheduled pickups; see conference transportation.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from Anchorage airport to downtown?
From Ted Stevens Anchorage International (ANC) to downtown, Elly8.net fares are US$130 in a business sedan, US$170 in a business SUV and US$340 in an Executive Sprinter, fixed and all-in per vehicle. The same price applies from downtown to the airport, and a round trip booked together starts at US$250.
Where does the chauffeur meet me at ANC?
Inside the arrivals area of your terminal with a name board, after you collect your bags. Domestic flights arrive at the South Terminal and international flights at the North Terminal. The desk tracks your flight, so early or late landings are covered with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing.
Can you carry fishing gear and fish boxes?
Yes, if the vehicle is sized for it. Add the number and rough size of rod tubes, coolers or fish boxes to your booking notes. A business SUV takes six standard bags; an Executive Sprinter takes twelve. The desk will confirm whether your chosen class works before pickup.
Is a taxi cheaper than a car service from ANC?
For one or two people with ordinary bags, usually yes: the trip is short and taxis are metered. People Mover Route 40 is US$2.00. A pre-booked car makes sense for late-night arrivals, families needing child seats, groups with gear and anyone who needs a fixed, invoiced price.
How early to leave downtown for a flight from Anchorage?
About two hours before a domestic flight is comfortable on most days. Allow more in snow, on busy summer mornings, or if you are checking oversized items or fish boxes. Follow your airline's advice for international flights from the North Terminal.
Can you drive from Anchorage airport straight to Girdwood?
Yes. Enter the Girdwood address in the web booker for a fixed, all-in price. On our routed estimate, Girdwood is about 38 miles (62 km) from downtown, roughly 51 minutes on a clear road, so allow extra time in winter weather.
