A car service from FLL to Miami covers about 24 mi (38 km) from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International to Downtown Miami, roughly 34 minutes on a clear road and often an hour or more on I-95 at rush hour. With Elly8.net the fare is fixed before you fly: the published FLL to Miami Beach price is US$255 in a business sedan to US$665 in an Executive Sprinter, and the web booker prices any mainland Miami address, such as a Brickell tower or a Coral Gables office, in every vehicle class.
This guide is for travellers whose Miami is on the mainland: business visitors heading to Brickell or Downtown, families staying in Coral Gables or Coconut Grove, and passengers connecting to a flight at MIA. Rides in Miami are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
How long does it take to get from FLL to Miami by car?
On a clear road, FLL to Downtown Miami or Brickell is about 24 mi (38 to 39 km) and 35 minutes, and FLL to Coral Gables or Doral is about 28 to 29 mi (45 to 47 km) and just over 40 minutes. Weekday rush hours on I-95 can double those times, so the desk schedules with a buffer.
Almost every route uses I-95 south through Broward and northern Miami-Dade. The express lanes are tolled, and the chauffeur uses them when they save meaningful time; tolls are billed at cost on top of the fixed fare. The slow stretches are predictable: the weekday morning run into Miami, the evening run back north, and Friday afternoons.
| From FLL to | Road distance | Clear-road drive | Plan for at peak |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown Miami | about 24 mi (38 km) | about 34 min | 60 to 75 min |
| Brickell | about 24 mi (39 km) | about 36 min | 60 to 75 min |
| Design District and Wynwood | about 21 mi (34 km) | about 31 min | 50 to 60 min |
| Miami International (MIA) | about 25 mi (41 km) | about 38 min | 60 to 75 min |
| Doral | about 28 mi (45 km) | about 41 min | 60 to 80 min |
| Coral Gables | about 29 mi (47 km) | about 42 min | 60 to 80 min |
| Miami Beach, for comparison | about 27 mi (43 km) | about 41 min | 60 to 90 min |
The peak column is desk guidance for scheduling, not a promise. For a meeting at a fixed time, tell the desk the time you must be in the lobby and we work back from it.
What a private car from FLL to Miami costs
The only FLL to Miami route on our fixed list is Miami Beach: US$255 in a business sedan, US$335 in a business SUV, US$410 in a First Class SUV, US$450 in a First Class sedan and US$665 in an Executive Sprinter, or US$485 to US$1,265 for a round trip. Mainland destinations are slightly shorter drives, and the web booker quotes your exact address in every class. Whatever it shows is fixed and all-in, with the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet included, and tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time billed at cost.
Broward County, which runs FLL, publishes taxi estimates from the airport on its taxi page, which gives an honest benchmark for the mainland trips:
| From FLL to | Broward taxi estimate | Broward luxury sedan estimate | Elly8.net |
|---|---|---|---|
| Miami International (MIA) | about US$72 | about US$90 | web booker quote, fixed |
| PortMiami | about US$86 | about US$90 | web booker quote, fixed |
| South Beach | about US$80 | about US$85 | US$255 to US$665, fixed |
The county notes that these are estimates that may vary, including with fuel surcharges. They are clearly lower than a pre-booked chauffeur in a business sedan, and for one traveller with a carry-on, a taxi from the terminal podium is a sensible choice. The case for a private car rests on what the estimate leaves out: a chauffeur waiting inside arrivals, a fixed total that does not move with I-95, one vehicle for a family or a team with luggage, child seats fitted in advance, and a driver who will wait outside a meeting.
The rail option, honestly
Fort Lauderdale is one of the few US airports where rail to Miami is a real alternative, with one condition: there is always a shuttle at the airport end.
- Tri-Rail. Broward County runs free shuttle buses from the FLL terminals to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport station at Dania Beach, a few miles away, according to its ground transportation page. Tri-Rail serves Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, and at the Miami end it reaches the Miami International Airport area, where MIA's public transportation page describes reaching Tri-Rail from the terminals on the MIA Mover.
- Brightline. The same Broward page says Brightline runs an airport connector shuttle from its South Florida stations to FLL, daily from 7 am to 8 pm, at a flat per-person rate. MIA notes that Brightline's Miami station is MiamiCentral, downtown.
For a solo traveller with light luggage arriving in daylight and going to a hotel near the Miami station, the train is good value. For a family, a group with checked bags, a late arrival, or anyone going to Brickell, Coral Gables or Doral, the two changes and the final ride usually outweigh the saving.
Landing at FLL: what happens before you leave the airport
FLL has four terminals along the airport's roadway, with arrivals and baggage claim on the lower level. The routine is the same whichever one you land in.
- Book with the flight number. The flight is tracked, so the chauffeur's timing follows the real landing.
- Collect your bags. The chauffeur waits inside arrivals with a name board; complimentary waiting applies after a tracked landing.
- Walk out together. The chauffeur takes the luggage and leads you to the pre-arranged pickup area on the lower level, separate from the taxi podiums and ride-share zones.

Where travellers go on the mainland
Brickell. Miami's financial district, with dense office and hotel towers along Brickell Avenue. Building entrances matter: some towers have a motor court, others a side-street drop-off with a security desk. Put the building name and the entrance in the notes.
Downtown and the waterfront. Hotels and offices around Biscayne Boulevard, the Kaseya Center and Bayfront Park. On event nights, streets near the arena and the park close or slow down, and the chauffeur plans a drop-off point that works.
Design District and Wynwood. The closest mainland districts to FLL on this list, with boutiques, galleries and restaurants. A good first stop on an afternoon arrival, with the car waiting if you book hourly time.
Coral Gables, Coconut Grove and Doral. South and west of the city, with corporate offices, hotels and golf resorts. These are the longest of the common runs from FLL, and the ones where a flat fare protects you most from an I-95 crawl.
MIA, for a connection. Some travellers land at FLL and fly out of MIA, usually because of an airline change. Allow generously: about 25 mi (41 km) between the airports, roughly 38 minutes on a clear road, and much longer at peak. Give us both flight numbers and we time the pickup to the connection. Our guide to the Miami airport limo pickup explains the MIA departures side.
Busy weeks: when FLL is the smart airport for Miami
Some of Miami's biggest events sit north of the city, which makes Fort Lauderdale a practical airport for them. Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens lies between FLL and Downtown Miami, just off the main north-south routes.
- Miami Open, March 14 to 28, 2027. The tennis tournament is at Hard Rock Stadium, with dates posted, subject to change, on the Miami Open site.
- Formula 1 Hard Rock Miami Grand Prix, April 30 to May 2, 2027. The race returns to the Miami International Autodrome on the stadium campus, according to the Grand Prix site. Drop-off zones are set by the promoter.
- Ultra Music Festival, March 26 to 28, 2027. Three nights at Bayfront Park, Downtown, per Ultra's official site, with street closures along Biscayne Boulevard.
During these weeks, MIA is busy, hotel rates rise and app prices move with demand. A fixed fare from FLL, booked early, takes one variable out of the trip. For race or tournament days, the evening out and event night package keeps a car with you for five hours, from US$500 in a business sedan to US$1,000 in an Executive Sprinter; our sports event transportation page explains how we plan stadium pickups.
Business travel from FLL
