Uber operates in Cannes, and its own Cannes city page says you can request a ride at any time of day, reserve one up to 30 days ahead, and book UberXL for groups of up to six. For a short ride from the Croisette to Le Suquet on a quiet evening, or a trip to Mougins for dinner in March, it works much as it does at home.
The catch is the calendar. Uber states that its fares depend on current demand, and Cannes packs the Film Festival, Cannes Lions, MIPIM and the Yachting Festival into a few months, each drawing large crowds that want cars at the same times. That is when the app is least predictable and a fixed price is worth most. An Elly8.net car from Nice airport to La Croisette costs from US$190 per vehicle in a business sedan to US$495 in an Executive Sprinter, and from Cannes-Mandelieu from US$115.
Is Uber available in Cannes?
Yes. Uber operates in Cannes around the clock, with rides on request or reserved up to 30 days ahead, and UberXL for up to six people. Its prices depend on current demand, which peaks during festivals. Taxis Cannes, the official network, runs more than 150 taxis 24/7, and a fixed Elly8.net car from Nice airport is from US$190.
Uber's Côte d'Azur city list also includes the towns around Cannes where many visitors stay or dine: Le Cannet, Mougins, Mandelieu-La-Napoule and Grasse, as well as Antibes and Nice. Coverage is not the issue. What changes is how many cars are free, how far away they are, and what the app charges when everyone leaves the Palais at once.
Rides in Cannes with Elly8.net are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
Uber from Nice airport to Cannes
Every scheduled flight for Cannes lands at Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, about 32 km (20 mi) and 41 minutes from the Croisette on a clear road. Uber's Nice airport pickup page directs riders to the ride-app area in the Parking Pro car park, through exit D4 at Terminal 1 or exit A3 at Terminal 2, and warns that the exact zone can shift with terminal, time, airport rules and construction. Uber Reserve lets you book the airport pickup up to 90 days ahead, lock in the price and cancel free until one hour before pickup.
That is a reasonable option off-season for two people with light bags. Our guide to the Nice airport to Cannes transfer compares it in detail with the €85 fixed taxi, the line 81 coach, the train and a pre-booked car.
When demand pushes app prices up in Cannes
Uber does not publish its multipliers, and we will not guess them. What we can give is the list of weeks when demand on the Croisette is at its highest, all confirmed by the organisers for 2027:
- MIPIM, 16 to 19 March 2027, the property market at the Palais, per MIPIM.
- Festival de Cannes, 11 to 22 May 2027, per the Festival de Cannes.
- Cannes Lions, 21 to 25 June 2027, per Cannes Lions.
- Cannes Yachting Festival, 7 to 12 September 2027, in the Vieux Port and Port Canto, per the Yachting Festival.
Add the Monaco Grand Prix from 4 to 6 June 2027, when many guests stay in Cannes and travel east each day, and summer weekends from July to August. Within those weeks the pressure points are predictable: the hour before evening screenings, the hour after a party in the hills empties, and the morning after a closing ceremony, when a large share of guests leave for Nice airport together.
Taxis Cannes: the local alternative
Cannes has its own official taxi network. The Cannes Tourist Office's getting-around page describes Taxis Cannes as the city's official network, with more than 150 taxis available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, bookable by phone on +33 4 93 99 27 27, online or through its app. For trips inside Cannes, a taxi is often the most straightforward choice.
From Nice airport, the taxi rank charges a fixed €85 to Cannes, according to the airport's taxi page, as a 2026 indicative fare excluding supplements. The rank is at entrance A3 at both terminals. During festival weeks, the queue is the variable.
Palm Bus and the Croisette
For short hops, the town bus is better than most visitors expect. The tourist office lists about thirty daytime Palm Bus lines and five evening lines under the Palm Night name. The Palm Impérial, an open-top bus along the Croisette, runs every day from 6am to 9pm, about every 15 minutes, with a €1.80 ticket sold by the driver, and a one-day pass costs €4.60 on board. Boats to the Lérins Islands leave from the port, a crossing of 15 to 20 minutes. None of this needs an app or a booking, and for one person in daylight it is hard to beat.
Pickups on the Croisette and in the hills
Where an app ride works least well in Cannes is the pickup itself. During the big events, roads around the Palais are controlled and hotel forecourts on the Croisette are managed tightly, so a driver who has never been there before may not be allowed to stop where the pin says. Up in Californie, Super-Cannes and Mougins, the villas many festival guests rent sit on steep, narrow roads with gates and unmarked entrances.
A chauffeur who has the address, the gate code and the hotel's access arrangements before the day removes that friction. Tell the desk the house, the hotel or the berth, and the meeting point is agreed in advance.

Premium app options are not the same as a chauffeur
Uber's Nice airport page lists several ride types beyond UberX, including Comfort, with newer cars and extra legroom, UberXL and a Van option for up to six. They are useful upgrades, and for some trips they are enough. What they share with every app ride is the model: the car is matched when you request or when a driver accepts a reservation, the meeting point is a zone rather than the arrivals hall, and the price is set by the app. A pre-booked chauffeur is assigned by the desk, knows the hotel or villa before the day, meets you with a name board and charges a fare fixed in dollars weeks ahead.
Late nights in Cannes
Evenings are when the options narrow. The Palm Night network adds five evening bus lines, but parties in the hills and dinners in Mougins end long after most people want to wait at a stop. Taxis Cannes runs around the clock, and the app works at any hour, yet the busiest nights of the year are exactly when both are stretched. If the evening matters, a car on the evening out and event night package, from US$450 in a business sedan to US$900 in an Executive Sprinter, waits for you and takes everyone home in one vehicle.
Paying and tipping, for North American visitors
Elly8.net fares are paid by card in US dollars when you reserve, and they include standard gratuity, so nothing more is expected at the end of a ride; anything extra is your choice. App rides are charged to the card in your app, in euros. Taxi fares are paid to the driver; ask for a receipt if you need one for expenses.
When the app is a fine choice
Be fair to the app. Outside the festival calendar, for a ride across town or to a restaurant in Le Cannet, Uber is quick and shows the price before you accept. A reserved ride to Nice airport with a locked price is a sensible budget plan for a couple travelling light. If you are comfortable with the format at home, there is no reason to avoid it here on an ordinary day.
When the pre-booked alternative is worth it
The arrival. The chauffeur tracks your final flight, waits inside arrivals with a name board and handles the bags; waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. A missed connection moves the pickup without a new booking. See Nice airport to Cannes transfers.
Festival schedules. Transfers are the wrong unit for a day of screenings, beach lunches and villa dinners. Cannes car service by the hour costs US$90 in a business sedan, US$115 in a business SUV and US$180 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum, and the evening out and event night package costs from US$450. The car waits nearby and comes when you call. See event transportation.
Private aviation. Business jets and helicopters use Cannes-Mandelieu, about 12 minutes from the Croisette, with transfers from US$115 in a business sedan. See private jet and FBO transfers.
Groups and luggage. Our fleet table puts six passengers and six bags in a Business SUV and twelve and twelve in an Executive Sprinter, which matters when UberXL is described as suiting six riders or four with luggage. See the fleet.
Agencies and companies. A corporate account puts every ride on one monthly invoice, with NDAs on request, during weeks when talent and executives travel discreetly.
A fixed price in dollars. Fares include the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet; tolls and parking are billed at cost. The price is per vehicle and does not change with demand. Read Uber Black vs a pre-booked chauffeur for the wider comparison.
Tips if you do use an app in Cannes
Book the airport ride early. If you prefer the app, reserve the Nice airport pickup when you book your flight, not after landing.
Avoid the Palais at the bell. Request a ride a few streets back from the Croisette, or walk to it, rather than in front of the Palais when a screening ends.
Name the gate. For villas in the hills, add the gate or house name in the pickup note, and confirm the street with the driver.
Keep Taxis Cannes saved. Have the number or the app ready as a second option for late nights.
Plan the last day. The morning after a festival closes is the heaviest day for ground transport; book the departure when you book the arrival. For more ideas on filling a free day, our guide to Cannes day tours with a private driver sets out routes and costs.

Frequently asked questions
Does Uber work in Cannes?
Yes. Uber's Cannes page says rides can be requested 24/7 or reserved up to 30 days ahead, and UberXL takes groups of up to six. The app also covers nearby towns including Le Cannet, Mougins and Mandelieu-La-Napoule. Prices depend on current demand, which is highest in festival weeks.
Is Uber expensive during the Cannes Film Festival?
Uber says its fares depend on current demand, and the festival, from 11 to 22 May 2027, brings some of the year's highest demand to Cannes. It does not publish multipliers in advance. A reserved ride or a pre-booked car fixes the price before you travel.
How do you get a taxi in Cannes?
Taxis Cannes, the official network, runs more than 150 taxis 24/7. Book by phone on +33 4 93 99 27 27, online or through its app. From Nice airport, the rank charges a fixed €85 to Cannes, a 2026 indicative fare excluding supplements.
What is the cheapest way along the Croisette?
The Palm Impérial open-top bus runs along the Croisette daily from 6am to 9pm, about every 15 minutes, with a €1.80 ticket from the driver. For one person in daylight, it is the simplest option. A car makes sense in the evening, with luggage or for trips into the hills.
How much is a private car from Nice airport to Cannes?
A fixed Elly8.net transfer to La Croisette costs from US$190 in a business sedan, US$250 in a business SUV and US$495 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. It includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Can a chauffeur wait for us between festival events?
Yes. Book by the hour, from US$90 in a business sedan with a 3-hour minimum, or take the evening out and event night package from US$450. The car waits nearby and comes when you call, which matters when parking near the Palais is close to impossible.
