Yes, you can take an Uber from Barcelona airport. Aena, the airport operator, lists Uber alongside Cabify and Bolt as app-based vehicles for hire with driver at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat (BCN), and each has designated pickup points in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. You request the ride once you have your bags, walk to the app's pickup point, which at Terminal 1 can be on a different floor from arrivals, and meet the driver there.
The price is set in the app when you request, and it rises when demand outruns the drivers nearby, which at BCN means the morning long-haul wave, trade-show weeks and festival nights. If you want a known price, there are two alternatives: a licensed taxi booked through an approved app on Barcelona's closed-price tariff, or a pre-booked Elly8.net car, fixed from US$105 per vehicle to Passeig de Gràcia, with the chauffeur waiting inside arrivals.
Can you get an Uber from Barcelona airport, and where do you meet it?
Yes. Aena lists Uber, Cabify and Bolt at El Prat. Uber picks up at Terminal 1 on floor 2 and floor 0, and at Terminal 2 in the T2A and T2B express car parks on floor 0. The price is set in the app at request and varies with demand. A pre-booked Elly8.net car is fixed from US$105 per vehicle.
Those pickup points come from Aena's vehicles-for-hire page for El Prat, which tells Uber riders to request on arrival and go to the exclusive parking area in each terminal to meet the driver. Cabify and Bolt have their own points. The same page lists a general VTC meeting point, VTC being the Spanish term for a vehicle for hire with driver, in the Terminal 1 car park on floor -1.
The practical consequence is a walk. Arrivals at T1 are on the ground floor; one of Uber's points is two floors up. With a cabin bag that is nothing. With two large cases, a car seat and a tired child, it is a lift ride and a search for signs after a transatlantic night.

App pickup points at El Prat, terminal by terminal
| App | Terminal 1 | Terminal 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Uber | Floor 2 and floor 0 pickup points | Express car park T2A, floor 0; express car park T2B, floor 0 |
| Cabify | Two pickup points on floor 0 | T2A, T2B and T2C, floor 0 |
| Bolt | Floor 0 pickup point | Express car park arrivals T2, floor 0 |
| General VTC meeting point | T1 car park, floor -1 | Not listed |
| Official taxi (for comparison) | Ranks on floor 0, walk-up and pre-booked | Ranks at T2A, T2B and T2C arrivals |
The table summarises what Aena publishes for each terminal. Follow the app's own directions on the day, because the pin it shows is the one your driver will use, and Aena posts notices on that page about which car-park areas are currently open.
Check your terminal before you request. Flights from the United States and Canada, and most network airlines, use Terminal 1; Terminal 2 handles mainly low-cost and short-haul traffic. The two buildings are several kilometres apart. Aena's free shuttle between them runs 24 hours a day, every 5 to 10 minutes depending on the time, and takes about 10 minutes from T1 to T2B and C, according to Aena's free transport page. Requesting a car to the wrong terminal is the most common way to lose twenty minutes.
How app prices behave at BCN
Rideshare companies do not publish airport fares, and the price for the same trip changes with the moment you request. We do not quote a number here because none is published; what we can describe is when the price tends to move.
The morning long-haul wave. North American flights land at T1 in the morning together with flights from the Gulf, Asia and a busy hour of European arrivals. Hundreds of people come through passport control at once and many open the same apps, while the drivers nearby are finite.
Trade-show weeks. Barcelona is one of Europe's busiest trade-fair cities. When a big show such as MWC is on at Fira Gran Via, between the airport and the city, demand for every kind of car rises at the airport on the arrival days and at the venue at closing time.
Festival and special nights. Late finishes at the waterfront festivals, the night of Sant Joan on 23 June and New Year's Eve push demand up across the city. Barcelona's official taxi tariff even adds a supplement on those nights.
Summer weekends and cruise turnarounds. When large ships turn around, thousands of passengers move between the port, the airport and hotels on the same morning.
In each case the app shows its price before you confirm, so you are never surprised after the ride. The issue is planning: you do not know the price until you are standing in the terminal, and you cannot lock it in when you book your flight.
The closed-price taxi: a middle option
Barcelona's licensed taxis have a feature many visitors miss. Under the 2026 metropolitan taxi tariffs, a taxi booked through an approved app can be sold on the T-3 closed-price tariff. The price is calculated before the ride from the flag fall, the distance, an estimate of time in real traffic and the supplements, it includes five minutes of waiting at the pickup point, and the meter stays at zero during the trip.
If you take a taxi from the rank instead, the meter runs on the standard tariff: €2.80 flag fall, €1.35 per kilometre on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00 or €1.66 at night and weekends, plus a €4.60 airport supplement, with a €21 minimum for any ride starting at the airport. On the routed 13.5 km to Passeig de Gràcia, that arithmetic gives about €26 by day and €30 at night before any time charged in slow traffic. That is our estimate from the tariff, not a quote. Our separate guide on the Barcelona airport taxi goes through every line of the tariff.
What a pre-booked car changes
The difference between an app ride and a pre-booked chauffeur is less about the car than about who does the waiting and where.
Where you meet. The chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall of your terminal with a name board, then walks with you to the car. You do not need to find a pickup point on another floor or match a plate number in a car park.
When the price is set. The fare is fixed when you book, often weeks ahead, and charged in US dollars to your card. It does not change with the morning wave, an MWC opening day or a delayed flight. Elly8.net fares from El Prat to Passeig de Gràcia run from US$105 in a business sedan, US$140 in a business SUV and US$185 in a First Class Sedan to US$275 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle and the same in either direction.
What happens if your flight is late. The flight is tracked and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. With an app, you simply request later, which is fine, but you request at the price of that later moment.
Who is in the car. Child seats are fitted before pickup on request. A business SUV carries six passengers and six bags; an Executive Sprinter twelve and twelve. Standard app cars usually seat three or four with limited boot space, and you cannot request a child seat with confidence.
Rides in Barcelona are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.

| Price basis | App pricing, varies with demand | 2026 tariff, €21 minimum from BCN | Tariff-based closed price | Fixed per vehicle, from US$105 |
| Where you meet | App pickup point, T1 floor 2 or 0, T2 express car parks | Rank on floor 0 or at T2 arrivals | Taxi pickup point | Inside arrivals with a name board |
| Child seats | Not assured | Not fitted at the rank | Ask the app | Fitted on request |

Tips if you do use an app at El Prat
- Turn on data or connect to the airport Wi-Fi before you leave baggage reclaim, so you can request while walking rather than standing outside.
- Check the terminal and the floor of the pickup point in the app before you pick a lift.
- Match the plate and the driver's name before you load bags. Aena notes that the only official taxi in Barcelona is black and yellow, so decline offers of rides inside the hall.
- If the app price at that moment is high, compare it with the rank. A metered taxi to the centre is usually in the high twenties of euros.
- For departures, the app drops you at the departures kerb of your terminal. Ask the app for the right terminal, T1 or T2, because the drive between them is not short.
The fair verdict
Solo or two travellers, light luggage, midday arrival. An app ride or the taxi rank is the sensible choice. Use whichever is cheaper on the day, or the metro if your hotel is near a stop.
Morning transatlantic arrival with a family. Book the car. Meeting inside the hall, fitted child seats and one vehicle for six bags make the first hour of the trip simpler, and the business SUV fare of US$140 per vehicle is known before you fly.
A team arriving for MWC or another Fira show. Book a fixed transfer and an hourly chauffeur for meeting days, from US$85 per hour in a business sedan with a 3-hour minimum. App pricing and taxi queues at closing time are the variables you do not want during a show week.
A late-night landing with no hotel shuttle. The rank works and is fair. The car is worth it if you want a named person waiting and the price settled.
Heading straight to a ship or a show
Two arrival patterns deserve a separate word. If you are flying in for a cruise, an app ride to the Adossat quay works, but the taxi has a fixed €46 fare from the airport to the Moll Adossat terminals with all supplements included, which is often the simplest known price for a couple with bags. A family or a group with a week of luggage is better served by one SUV or Sprinter that goes to the drop-off area of your terminal; our airport to cruise port guide compares every option, and cruise port transfers explains how the service works.
If you are arriving for a trade show at Fira Gran Via, the venue sits between the airport and the city, so the ride is short and a metered taxi from BCN usually comes out at about the €21 minimum. The harder part is the return at closing time, when every attendee wants a car at once. A chauffeur who has already met you inside arrivals, as described on meet and greet, can be held by the hour for the rest of the day.

Frequently asked questions
Does Uber work at Barcelona airport?
Yes. Aena lists Uber at El Prat with pickup points at Terminal 1 on floor 2 and floor 0, and at Terminal 2 in the T2A and T2B express car parks on floor 0. Cabify and Bolt also operate at the airport with their own points. Request after collecting bags and follow the app's directions.
How much is an Uber from Barcelona airport to the city?
Uber does not publish airport fares; the app sets the price when you request and it varies with demand. For comparison, a metered taxi to Passeig de Gràcia works out at roughly €26 to €30 on the 2026 tariff, and a fixed Elly8.net business sedan is from US$105 per vehicle.
Is Uber cheaper than a taxi from El Prat?
Sometimes, sometimes not. App prices move with demand, while the taxi tariff is fixed by the metropolitan authority, with a €21 minimum from the airport. At busy times, compare the app price with the rank before you confirm. A taxi booked through an approved app can also give a closed price.
Where does a pre-booked chauffeur meet you instead?
Inside the arrivals hall of your terminal, after baggage reclaim, where the chauffeur waits with a name board. The flight is tracked, so the chauffeur adjusts to the real landing time, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. The chauffeur then walks you to the car.
Can you get an Uber with a child seat in Barcelona?
It is not something you can count on at the airport. If you are travelling with young children, book a car with child seats fitted before pickup: an Elly8.net business SUV is from US$140 per vehicle to Passeig de Gràcia and seats six passengers with six bags.
Can you take an Uber to Barcelona airport for the flight home?
Yes, and the price is set when you request. For an early departure, a family or a group, a pre-booked car at the same fixed fare as the arrival transfer, from US$105 per vehicle, removes the question of availability at 5:00 in the morning.
