In Seville, the taxi is the default and often the best value. City taxis charge a flat fare between the airport and the city, €26 on weekday daytimes and €29 at night, at weekends and during the festival weeks, with no supplement for luggage, according to the airport operator. Inside the old town, most visitors walk. App rides fill the gaps, and a pre-booked private car earns its price for families and groups, late arrivals, Holy Week and Feria nights, and days out of the city.
This guide goes trip by trip: arriving by air, arriving by train at Santa Justa, getting around the centre, evenings out, the festival weeks and days out. For each, it says which option we would choose and why, including the many cases where that is not an Elly8.net car. Our transfers from Seville Airport (SVQ) to the Santa Cruz quarter cost from US$95 in a business sedan to US$250 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, fixed and charged in US dollars.
Which is best in Seville: taxi, Uber or a private car?
For two people with normal luggage, the city taxi is usually best: a flat €26 to €29 from the airport and metered fares in town. App rides suit light travellers on ordinary days. A pre-booked private car wins for families, groups, child seats, late connections, Holy Week, the Feria and day trips, at a fixed price per vehicle.
| Trip | Our pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Airport to the centre, two people, weekday | City taxi | Flat €26 fare, rank outside arrivals |
| Airport, solo with a backpack | Tussam EA bus | €6, card payment on board |
| Airport, family of five with luggage | Pre-booked SUV | One vehicle, six seats and six large bags, child seats fitted |
| Santa Justa station to a Santa Cruz hotel | Taxi, or a chauffeur with heavy bags | Short ride; the lanes decide the drop-off |
| Hops around the old town | Walk | Most sights are close together and many lanes are closed to cars |
| Dinner across the river in Triana | Taxi or app ride | Short, cheap, easy pickups on wider streets |
| Feria night, back in the small hours | Pre-booked car | Long queues at the fairground edge |
| Holy Week arrival or departure | Pre-booked car, morning timing | Closures change by the hour |
| Day trip to Córdoba, Jerez or Granada | Full-day chauffeur | The car waits, door to door |

How Seville's taxis work
Seville's taxis are licensed by the city and work from ranks at the airport, at Santa Justa station and around the centre. For a visitor, three facts matter most, all from Seville Airport's taxi page.
The airport fare is flat. Taxis apply a flat airport fare for all trips between the airport and the city. Fare 4, €26, applies Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 21:00. Fare 5, €29, applies on weekday nights, all day at weekends and on public holidays, on 24 and 31 December, and during the daytime in Holy Week and the Feria de Abril. The page states that no supplements apply on these trips for suitcases, for starting at Santa Justa station, or for nights and weekends. Trips to destinations outside the city use intercity fares.
Phone bookings cost a little more. If you call a taxi rather than taking one from a rank, the meter runs from the taxi's position to your pickup point, capped at the applicable minimum fare, and that amount is added.
Ask for a receipt. The airport recommends requesting a receipt in case of any complaint or claim. If the driver stops at an intermediate destination, the meter starts running again for the next leg.
The practical upshot: a taxi from the rank at SVQ is a known, reasonable price for up to four passengers. The limits are space, five or more people with full-size cases, and availability at the busiest moments.
How app rides fit in
Uber operates in Seville, and its SVQ taxi page and related pages describe requesting both cars and taxis through the app, plus scheduled rides through Uber Reserve. On-demand prices are set when you request and move with demand. For a light traveller who already uses the app at home, it is a convenient way to get across the river or back from a restaurant.
Two things limit app rides in Seville. Pickups inside the old town are slow, because many lanes are closed to general traffic and the driver has to reach you on a wider street. And at the moments when everyone wants a car, festival nights and the first flights of the day, the wait and the price both rise. Our companion guide on Uber in Seville covers availability, surge and airport pickups in more detail.
Arriving by air
For two travellers with a suitcase each, the taxi rank is our honest recommendation: €26 on a weekday afternoon, €29 on a Saturday, and you are at the edge of Santa Cruz in about 13 minutes on a clear road. A solo traveller with light bags can take the EA airport bus, €6 one way or €8 return on the same day, which runs from 04:30 to 00:05 towards the city, according to the airport's bus page.
The private car changes the picture when the party is larger or the circumstances harder. A family of five with five cases does not fit one taxi; a Business SUV at US$125 carries six passengers and six large bags, with child seats fitted before pickup. A group of ten in an Executive Sprinter at US$250 is one vehicle instead of three. And a late connection from Madrid or Lisbon is simpler when someone is tracking the flight and waiting in arrivals with your name. Complimentary waiting applies after a tracked landing. See airport transfers.
As arithmetic for comparison only: four adults on the EA bus pay €24 in single tickets, close to the €26 taxi fare for the whole car, so for four people the taxi is the obvious buy, provided the luggage fits.
Arriving by train at Santa Justa
High-speed trains from Madrid arrive at Santa Justa, east of the old town. The taxi rank there is the easy answer for light travellers. With heavy bags and a hotel deep inside Santa Cruz, a pre-booked car helps less with the distance than with the last part: the chauffeur stops at the nearest permitted point and carries the bags to the hotel's meeting point. See train station transfers.
Getting around the centre
Inside the old town, walk. The Cathedral, the Real Alcázar, the Santa Cruz lanes, the Archivo de Indias and the riverfront are all close together, and many of the streets between them are closed to general traffic. Taxis and app rides are useful for the longer hops, to Triana, the Plaza de España in the María Luisa park, the Metropol Parasol or a dinner reservation across town.
A chauffeur by the hour is the right tool only when a day strings several stops together at fixed times, or someone in the party has limited mobility. At US$85 an hour in a business sedan with a 3-hour minimum, it suits a morning of monuments with the car meeting you at each exit, or a business day of meetings in Nervión and the Cartuja technology park. See hourly chauffeur service.
Evenings out and the Feria de Abril
On an ordinary night, a taxi or app ride back from a flamenco show or a dinner in Triana is quick and cheap. The Feria is different. The fair runs on the fairground in Los Remedios through the night for a week, usually beginning about two weeks after Easter, and the taxi queues at the fairground edge in the early hours are long. The airport fare tables show that even the city treats the Feria as a peak period.
The evening out and event night package, from US$425 in a business sedan to US$850 in an Executive Sprinter, takes you to the fairground edge and has the car waiting when you leave, at a time you choose. For groups in flamenco dress and suits, one Sprinter avoids splitting the party across several taxis at 3 am. See event transportation.
Holy Week
During Semana Santa, which in 2027 ends on Easter Sunday, 28 March, processions close much of the historic centre for long periods, and routes change through the day and night. Taxis and app rides cannot enter the closures either. What helps is planning: a pre-booked car meeting you at an agreed point outside them, and arrivals and departures timed for the morning, when fewer processions are on the streets. The fixed price means the fare is the same on the busiest night as on any other. Book early, because cars are committed to the earliest confirmed bookings.
Days out of the city
Here the private car is usually the right answer, with one exception. For Córdoba, the high-speed train can be quicker than the road for two people going station to station; our Seville to Córdoba transfer guide compares the two honestly. For Jerez, Cádiz, Ronda and the white villages, and especially Granada, a driver who waits at each stop is far easier. The full-day chauffeur costs from US$630 in a business sedan, US$810 in a business SUV and US$1,255 in an Executive Sprinter. See our Seville to Granada by car guide for the longest of these days.
Leaving Seville: the airport or the station
Departures are where the options look most alike and where the details matter. From a hotel on a wide street, a taxi called by phone or hailed at a rank gets you to SVQ at the same flat fare as the inbound trip; remember that a phone booking adds the meter from the taxi's position to your door, capped at the minimum fare. An app ride works the same way as in town, provided a car is free when you need it.
What a pre-booked car adds on the way out is certainty about the time. For a 7 am flight, the chauffeur is outside at the agreed minute, which is the hour when taxis and app cars are thinnest on the ground. For a family, the child seats are already fitted. And the fare is the same fixed price as the inbound transfer, from US$95 in a business sedan, so booking a round trip from US$185 settles both legs before you arrive. For a hotel inside the Santa Cruz lanes, the chauffeur meets you at the same permitted point used for your arrival.
Most travellers flying home to North America connect through Madrid, Barcelona or Lisbon, so allow for the connection when you choose your pickup time; the desk suggests one when you book.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi in Seville from the airport?
A flat €26 on weekdays from 07:00 to 21:00, and €29 on weekday nights, at weekends, on public holidays, and during the daytime in Holy Week and the Feria, according to the airport operator. There is no supplement for luggage or for starting at Santa Justa station on these trips.
Is a taxi or Uber better in Seville?
For the airport, the flat taxi fare is predictable and the rank is outside arrivals, so most visitors are well served by the taxi. App rides are handy for light travellers making short trips in town. On festival nights, both get scarce; that is when a pre-booked car helps.
Can taxis drive into Santa Cruz?
Only partly. Many lanes in Santa Cruz are closed to general traffic or too narrow for a car, so taxis, app rides and chauffeured cars alike stop at the nearest permitted point. Tell the desk your hotel when you book and we plan the closest drop-off.
When is a private car worth it in Seville?
For families of five or more with luggage, groups, child seats, late connections, Holy Week and Feria nights, multi-stop days and trips out of the city. An airport transfer costs from US$95 in a business sedan to US$250 in an Executive Sprinter, fixed per vehicle.
How do I get a taxi during the Feria?
Expect long queues at the fairground edge in the early hours. The city treats Feria daytime as a peak period on its airport tariff. A pre-booked evening out package, from US$425, takes you to the fairground edge and waits for your return.
Do Elly8.net prices include tips?
Yes. Standard gratuity is included in every fare, along with the chauffeur, taxes and meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost. Prices are fixed before you travel and charged in US dollars, so nothing is added at the end of the ride.
