Renting a limo with a chauffeur in a large North American city usually starts at around US$95 to US$110 an hour for a business sedan and US$190 to US$220 an hour for a twelve-seat Executive Sprinter, with a three-hour minimum. Those are Elly8.net's published hourly rates, fixed and all-in, and they give a realistic floor: a three-hour evening in a sedan is from about US$285, and in a Sprinter from about US$570.
The word "limo" covers very different vehicles, though, from a sedan to a sixteen-seat stretch SUV, and the final price depends on more than the vehicle. This guide sets out published ranges, explains the factors that move a quote, and ends with a checklist for comparing quotes so that you are comparing like with like.
How much does it cost to rent a limo per hour?
Published Elly8.net hourly rates run from US$95 to US$110 an hour for a Business Sedan and US$190 to US$220 an hour for an Executive Sprinter, depending on the city, with a three-hour minimum. Stretch limousines, party buses and Rolls-Royce cars are quoted for your date in the web booker. All prices are per vehicle and include chauffeur, taxes and standard gratuity.
The hourly rate is the cleanest way to compare, because it removes the route from the equation. Here are the published "by the hour, as directed" rates in six cities:
| City | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class Sedan | First Class SUV | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Las Vegas, Nashville, Denver | US$95 | US$120 | US$155 | US$145 | US$190 |
| Chicago, Miami | US$100 | US$125 | US$160 | US$150 | US$200 |
| New York City, Los Angeles | US$105 | US$135 | US$170 | US$160 | US$210 |
| Toronto | US$110 | US$140 | US$180 | US$165 | US$220 |
Each rate has a three-hour minimum on the price list, and each is per vehicle. See the live numbers on the city pages, for example Las Vegas fares, Chicago fares, New York City fares and Toronto fares.
What the vehicles are
"Limo" in a search box can mean any of these. The capacities below are per vehicle, from the Elly8.net fleet table.
- Business Sedan: an E-Class, CT6, Continental or similar, up to 3 passengers and 2 bags.
- First Class Sedan: a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or similar, up to 3 passengers and 2 bags.
- Business SUV / Van: a Suburban, Yukon XL or V-Class, up to 6 passengers and 6 bags.
- First Class SUV: an Escalade, Navigator or similar, up to 6 passengers and 6 bags.
- Executive Sprinter: a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter executive, up to 12 passengers and 12 bags.
- Stretch Limousine: up to 8 passengers and 2 bags.
- Stretch SUV Limousine: up to 16 passengers and 2 bags.
- Party Bus: up to 12 passengers and 2 bags.
- Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Maybach: 2 passengers and 2 bags each.
The first five have published prices. The stretch vehicles, the Party Bus, the Jet Sprinter and the Rolls-Royce and Maybach are quoted in the web booker for your date, because their availability varies more by city and season. The fleet page shows them all, and the black car vs limousine comparison explains when a sedan or SUV does the job better than a stretch.
Package prices: what a whole occasion costs
Hourly rates are the building block, but most bookings are for an occasion. Elly8.net publishes fixed packages on each city page:
- Evening out and event night: from US$475 in a Business Sedan to US$950 in an Executive Sprinter in Las Vegas and Nashville; US$525 to US$1,050 in New York City; US$550 to US$1,100 in Toronto.
- Full-day chauffeur: from US$700 in a Business Sedan to US$1,400 in an Executive Sprinter in Las Vegas; US$775 to US$1,550 in New York City and Los Angeles; US$810 to US$1,620 in Toronto.
- Private city highlights tour: from US$380 to US$760 in Las Vegas, US$420 to US$840 in New York City.
- Corporate roadshow day: from US$855 to US$1,710 in Las Vegas and Nashville, US$945 to US$1,890 in New York City.
Airport transfers are priced by route rather than by the hour. JFK to Midtown Manhattan is US$210 in a Business Sedan to US$550 in an Executive Sprinter; Harry Reid International to the Las Vegas Strip is US$125 to US$325. Each one-way airport fare is the same in either direction.
What drives a limo quote up (or down)
1. The vehicle class. The biggest single factor. In New York City the hourly rate doubles from US$105 for a Business Sedan to US$210 for an Executive Sprinter. Choosing the right size matters more than haggling.
2. Hours and the minimum. Most chauffeured bookings have a minimum. At Elly8.net it is three hours on the price list. A two-hour need still costs three hours, so a point-to-point fare can be better value for a single trip.
3. The date. Prom season, wedding Saturdays, New Year's Eve and big event weekends are when the stretch vehicles and party buses are most in demand. Book early for those dates.
4. Gratuity and fees. Some quotes add gratuity, fuel surcharges or "service fees" on top. Elly8.net prices include taxes and standard gratuity; tolls and parking are billed at cost. Regulated taxis also add published surcharges: in New York City, the TLC fare rules add a US$5.00 surcharge to the JFK flat fare between 4 pm and 8 pm on weekdays, and the Nevada Taxicab Authority publishes fuel surcharge tiers. Always ask what is added.
5. Garage time. Some operators charge from the moment the car leaves the garage. Elly8.net prices are fixed for the booked time and route.
6. Waiting and overtime. If the evening runs late, waiting beyond the booked time is billed at cost. Booking a buffer is cheaper than paying for unplanned overtime.
7. Multiple pickups and stops. Each extra address takes time. Point-to-point, round trip, hourly and multi-stop trips are all bookable, but a plan with fewer pickups costs less.
8. Distance outside the city. A day trip to wine country or a resort town is priced as a package or a city-to-city fare; for example, the Las Vegas day trip to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead runs from US$525 in a Business Sedan to US$1,050 in an Executive Sprinter.
Three worked examples
Real bookings combine several prices. These examples use only published Elly8.net rates, so you can see how a total is built.
A wedding day in Chicago. The couple rides in a Rolls-Royce, quoted in the booker for the date. The wedding party of ten travels in an Executive Sprinter booked for five hours at US$200 an hour, which is US$1,000. Parents ride in a Business SUV for the same five hours at US$125 an hour, which is US$625. The published part of the day comes to US$1,625 for two vehicles, before the Rolls-Royce and any tolls or parking.
A Las Vegas weekend for six. A Business SUV from Harry Reid International to the Strip is US$165, and the return is the same US$165. A Saturday evening out in the same SUV is US$600 on the package. Three bookings, one vehicle size, US$930 in total for six people.
A New York roadshow. A banker visiting four investors in a day books the corporate roadshow day in a First Class Sedan at US$1,530, with JFK to Midtown on arrival at US$370. Billing goes to the company through a corporate account with monthly invoicing.
In each case the price is fixed before the day, per vehicle, with gratuity included. What remains variable is limited to tolls, parking and any waiting beyond the booked time. Elly8.net is a member of LimousineWorldwide.Directory and LimousineAssociation.International, the network through which partner operators are vetted.
Per vehicle, never per person
Limo prices are per vehicle. A US$950 Executive Sprinter evening for twelve people is not US$950 each. If you divide it by the group to compare with taxis or app rides, that is arithmetic for comparison only: US$950 across twelve people is about US$79 each. A quote that is presented per person deserves a second look, because the operator's cost is the vehicle and the chauffeur, not the headcount.
When a limo is not worth it
Some trips do not need a chauffeur, and it is fair to say so. One traveller with a carry-on landing in the daytime near a good airport train will save money by taking it. A couple going to dinner ten minutes away can use a taxi. Our chauffeur vs taxi and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft comparisons set out where the line falls, and our explainer on what Uber Black is covers the premium app tier.
A chauffeured car earns its price for groups, events, airports with luggage, tight schedules, children who need car seats, and any occasion where the timing must not slip.
Checklist for comparing two limo quotes
Put both quotes side by side and check each line:
- Vehicle class and model year. Elly8.net partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, and seven years or newer for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley.
- Passenger and bag capacity. Does the vehicle fit the group and the luggage?
- Hours included and the minimum.
- Gratuity. Included or added?
- Taxes and fees. Included or added? Any fuel or service surcharge?
- Tolls and parking. Billed at cost, or estimated?
- Overtime rate. What happens if you run late?
- Cancellation terms. Elly8.net's are fixed: free more than 72 hours before pickup; 10% within 72 hours; 50% within 48 hours; 100% within 24 hours or for a no-show.
- Who operates the car. A licensed, commercially insured operator. In the US, interstate passenger carriers can be checked by USDOT number on the FMCSA SAFER company snapshot.
- Payment. Paid at booking, a deposit or on the day?
Once both quotes answer the same ten questions, the cheaper one is genuinely cheaper.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent a limo for 3 hours?
At Elly8.net's published hourly rates, three hours in a Business Sedan costs from US$285 in Las Vegas (3 x US$95) to US$330 in Toronto (3 x US$110), and three hours in an Executive Sprinter from US$570 to US$660. Prices are per vehicle and include chauffeur, taxes and standard gratuity.
Why is there a minimum number of hours?
A chauffeured booking ties up a vehicle and a chauffeur for the evening, including travel to the first pickup. The three-hour minimum on the price list reflects that. For a single trip shorter than three hours, a point-to-point or airport fare is usually better value than an hourly booking.
Does the price include the tip?
Elly8.net prices include standard gratuity, along with the chauffeur, vehicle and taxes. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. When comparing other quotes, check whether gratuity is added on top, because it can change the total noticeably.
How much is a stretch limo or party bus?
Stretch limousines, stretch SUVs and party buses are quoted in the Elly8.net web booker for your date, hours and route, and the fixed, all-in price is shown before you pay. As an anchor, the Executive Sprinter, which also carries twelve, is US$190 to US$220 an hour depending on the city.
Are limo prices per person?
No. Limo prices are per vehicle. Dividing the fare by the number of passengers can help compare with taxis or app rides, but it is arithmetic only; the booking covers the vehicle and chauffeur for everyone who fits.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup. Within 72 hours the charge is 10%, within 48 hours 50%, and within 24 hours or for a no-show 100%. Refunds go back to the original card.
