A limo from Halifax airport booked through Elly8.net is a private car or SUV with a chauffeur who tracks your flight, waits inside arrivals at Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) with a name board, and drives you about 34 km (21 mi) into Halifax at a fixed, all-in price. Fares to downtown Halifax run from US$165 in a Business Sedan to US$430 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle.
The airport is a long way out of town, in Goffs north of the city, so the transfer is a real drive along Highway 102 rather than a quick hop. That is exactly why the details matter: where you meet the driver, whether the bags fit, and whether the price is fixed before you land. This guide from the Elly8.net reservations desk walks through each one.
Where does a limo meet you at Halifax airport?
Your Elly8.net chauffeur waits inside the arrivals area at Halifax Stanfield with a name board, after you collect your bags. The flight is tracked, so an early or late landing moves the pickup, and waiting is complimentary after a tracked landing. The chauffeur then walks you to the car at the curb.
That is the main difference from the curbside options. Halifax Stanfield's taxis and limos page explains that airport car services, taxis and limos wait curbside outside Arrivals, with a Ground Transportation desk in the arrivals area, and that pre-arranged taxis and limos must be booked before the passenger arrives. With a pre-booked chauffeur, you do not need to find the queue or describe your destination at the curb; the destination, the vehicle and the price are already on the booking.
Step by step: from the aircraft to the car
- Before you fly. Your booking holds your flight number, the number of passengers and bags, and any child seats. The chauffeur's contact details arrive before pickup.
- Landing. The desk follows the flight. If it lands early, the chauffeur is there early; if it is delayed or diverted by Atlantic weather, the pickup moves to the new time automatically.
- Baggage claim. Collect your bags first. You can message the chauffeur from the belt if a bag is slow.
- The meeting. The chauffeur waits in arrivals with your name on a board, helps with the bags and walks you out to the vehicle.
- The drive. About 35 minutes on a clear road into downtown Halifax, longer at weekday rush hour or in fog or snow. The fare does not change with traffic.
Our airport meet and greet page explains the meeting in more detail. If you are arriving on a private aircraft, the chauffeur meets you at the handler instead; see private jet and FBO transfers.
The rest of the arrivals curb, for reference
Halifax Stanfield groups its ground transportation in one area outside Arrivals, which helps if you are meeting someone or changing plans:
- Taxis, limos and airport car services wait curbside outside Arrivals.
- Uber and Lyft pick up in a designated area on the ground transportation curb. The airport's rideshare page says to exit through the doors near the Ground Transportation booth, turn right and follow the signs to the marked spaces.
- Hotel and off-site parking shuttles use the bus depot.
- Halifax Transit's Regional Express 320 runs between the airport and downtown; the airport's buses and shuttles page lists a C$4.75 adult cash fare, tickets at the Ground Transportation booth, and luggage allowed on board.
Luggage: which vehicle fits your bags
Most problems at the curb are luggage problems. The fleet guide gives a seat and bag count for every class, and the safest way to book is to count the bags first and the people second.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Bags | YHZ to downtown Halifax | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Sedan | up to 3 | 2 | US$165 | solo business travellers, couples with carry-ons |
| First Class Sedan | up to 3 | 2 | US$290 | executives, a special arrival |
| Business SUV | up to 6 | 6 | US$215 | families, golf or ski bags, cruise luggage |
| First Class SUV | up to 6 | 6 | US$265 | VIP arrivals with luggage |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | 12 | US$430 | conference teams, wedding parties, groups |
A couple with two large suitcases and two carry-ons has outgrown a sedan, and a Business SUV costs US$50 more for room to spare. A family of four with checked bags and a stroller is a Business SUV booking. Twelve conference delegates on one flight fit one Executive Sprinter at US$430 for the vehicle; divided by twelve, that is about US$36 each, as arithmetic for comparison only, because the fare is always one price for the car.
Oversized items, such as bike boxes, sports bags or musical instruments, need a mention at booking so the desk can confirm the vehicle. Child seats are available on request; give each child's age.

Flat rate, zone fare or meter: how Halifax airport fares work
Three pricing systems meet at the YHZ curb, and it is worth knowing which is which.
Airport zone fares. Taxis and car services licensed at the airport charge fares set by the Halifax International Airport Authority. Its local car service fare sheet, effective October 1, 2022, lists C$68.00 including HST from the airport to the Halifax peninsula zone that covers downtown, C$61.00 or C$66.00 to Dartmouth zones and C$50.00 to C$55.00 to Bedford. The taxis and limos page adds a temporary C$4.00 per-trip increase on local airport car service fares, in effect since June 1, 2022.
City taxis. Away from the airport rank, the municipality's taking a taxi or limousine page lists an initial charge of C$4.70, says fares can be negotiated before departure or metered at the passenger's request, and notes set rates for trips to and from the airport.
Elly8.net fixed fares. One price in US dollars for the vehicle, quoted before you book and the same in either direction, including the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
| Option | Price to downtown Halifax | How you pay | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Halifax Transit Regional Express 320 | C$4.75 adult cash fare, per rider | ticket or exact change | one traveller, light bags |
| Airport taxi or car service, zone fare | C$68.00 incl. HST, plus the temporary C$4.00, per car | at the curb | walk-up arrivals, one or two people |
| Uber or Lyft | set by the app, varies with demand | in the app | flexible travellers |
| Elly8.net Business Sedan | US$165 fixed, per vehicle | booked ahead | late flights, meetings, fixed budgets |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter | US$430 fixed, per vehicle | booked ahead | groups and teams |
On cost alone, the zone fare is the better deal for one or two people who are happy to queue, and the 320 is the cheapest way in. A pre-booked car is worth it when the flight is late, the weather is bad, the group is large, child seats are needed, or the trip has to be paid and documented in advance. For a full comparison of every option in the city, see our guide to Halifax taxi vs Uber vs a private car, and the general pages on chauffeur vs taxi and chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft.
Departures: getting back to YHZ on time
The fixed fare is the same from the city to the airport, and the chauffeur collects you at your hotel entrance. For a domestic flight we usually suggest leaving downtown about two and a half hours before departure, and longer for US or international flights or when a storm is forecast. Weekday rush hour on the routes out of the peninsula and across the harbour bridges adds time; the desk sets the pickup with that in mind and confirms it the day before.
If you are staying in Dartmouth or Bedford, the address goes into the web booker, which prices the exact trip. A round trip booked together starts at US$315 in a Business Sedan.
Late-night and winter arrivals
The last flights of the evening are where a pre-booked car is most useful. The curb queue can be long when several flights land together. A winter storm adds snow on Highway 102 and the chance of a diversion. With a booking, the chauffeur is already watching the flight, the car is warm when you walk out, and the price was fixed days earlier. If the flight is diverted overnight, the 24/7 desk rebooks the pickup for the new arrival.
Booking tips from the desk
- Book as soon as flights are confirmed, especially for summer and the cruise season, when demand on the airport road rises.
- Use the flight number, not a time. Flight tracking only works if the booking has it.
- Count bags honestly. Two suitcases each is a different vehicle from two carry-ons each.
- Name the lead passenger whose name goes on the board, and give a mobile number that works on arrival.
- Add the second stop if you are dropping a colleague in Burnside before downtown.
- For a cruise, give the ship name and date; Seaport pickups are covered in our cruise port transfers page.
- Going straight to the coast? Our guide to Halifax to Peggy's Cove by private car covers that drive.
Groups, conferences and corporate arrivals
Conference organisers often stagger Executive Sprinters across the main arrival waves, with a sedan on standby for a speaker on a later flight. See conference transportation and, for companies that travel to Halifax often, corporate accounts with monthly invoicing and NDAs on request. Wedding parties and reunions arriving together book the same way; our guide to limo bus options in Halifax covers larger vehicles.
Rides in Halifax are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Elly8.net is a member of LimousineWorldwide.Directory, LimousineAssociation.International, HotelsWorldwide.Directory and VacationsWorldwide.Directory.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a limo from Halifax airport to downtown?
Elly8.net fares from YHZ to downtown Halifax are US$165 in a Business Sedan, US$215 in a Business SUV, US$265 in a First Class SUV, US$290 in a First Class Sedan and US$430 in an Executive Sprinter. Each is fixed, all-in and per vehicle, and the same fare applies from downtown back to the airport.
Where does the chauffeur meet you at YHZ?
Inside the arrivals area, holding a name board, after you collect your bags. The chauffeur tracks your flight number, so an early or late landing changes the pickup automatically, and waiting is complimentary after a tracked landing. Contact details arrive before pickup so you can message from the baggage belt.
What happens if the flight is delayed or diverted?
Nothing extra for a delay: the chauffeur works to the tracked landing time. If the flight is cancelled or diverted to another airport, message the 24/7 desk, and the transfer is moved to the new arrival. Atlantic weather makes this more common in Halifax than travellers expect.
Is a taxi cheaper from Halifax airport?
For one or two people, usually yes. The airport's zone fare to the Halifax peninsula is C$68.00 including HST, plus a temporary C$4.00 per-trip increase, and the Route 320 bus is C$4.75. A pre-booked car makes sense for groups, families with child seats, late arrivals and business travel.
How many bags fit in each vehicle?
The fleet guide lists a Business Sedan at up to 3 passengers and 2 bags, a Business SUV or First Class SUV at up to 6 passengers and 6 bags, and an Executive Sprinter at up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. Mention oversized items when booking so the desk can confirm the right vehicle.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds go back to the original card. The same terms apply to every vehicle class.
