Geneva Airport to Courchevel 1850 is about 148 km (92 mi) by the shortest road, roughly 2 hours 34 minutes on a clear road. That route crosses into France, passes Annecy and its lake, joins the Tarentaise valley at Albertville and follows the dual carriageway to Moûtiers, where the mountain road climbs to Courchevel. A second route stays on motorways via Chambéry; it is longer in distance but simpler in heavy snow, and the chauffeur chooses between them on the day.
With Elly8.net, the transfer is a fixed fare in US dollars, agreed before you fly: from US$525 in a business sedan to US$1,365 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, all-in, with the chauffeur meeting you in arrivals. Below are both routes stage by stage, the stops worth making, the winter rules in Savoie, and the cost, including what is billed at cost.
How long is the drive from Geneva to Courchevel?
About 2 hours 34 minutes on a clear road for the 148 km (92 mi) from Geneva Airport to Courchevel 1850 via Annecy and Albertville. The all-motorway route via Chambéry is about 199 km (123 mi) and 2 hours 50 minutes by our routed estimate. Snow and Saturday traffic in the Tarentaise valley can add an hour or more.
The Courchevel tourist office lists Geneva International Airport at 179 km from the resort, a figure that reflects a motorway-heavy route, and describes the final climb from Moûtiers as about 30 minutes on a wide, clear and secure road. Whichever way the car goes, the fixed fare does not change.

Route 1: via Annecy and the lake (the shortest)
| Stage | Routed distance | Clear-road time | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geneva Airport to Annecy | About 49 km / 31 mi | About 57 min | Into France and south on the motorway |
| Annecy to Albertville | About 44 km / 28 mi | About 53 min | Past Lake Annecy towards the Tarentaise |
| Albertville to Moûtiers | About 28 km / 17 mi | About 24 min | Dual carriageway up the valley |
| Moûtiers to Courchevel 1850 | About 24 km / 15 mi | About 27 min | The mountain road and its switchbacks |
These are our routed estimates for a clear road; the total is about 145 to 148 km.
Geneva to Annecy. From the airport, the car heads south across the border into France and onto the motorway towards Annecy, the first large town of the drive. In good conditions, this is the quickest hour of the journey.
Annecy to Albertville. South of Annecy, the road passes Lake Annecy and continues through the valley towards Albertville, where it meets the road up the Tarentaise. This stretch is the scenic heart of Route 1, and the one that slows most on busy weekends.
Albertville to Moûtiers. From Albertville, a dual carriageway runs up the Tarentaise valley to Moûtiers, the valley town below Courchevel. On winter Saturdays, this is where changeover traffic concentrates.
Moûtiers to Courchevel. The final climb, about 30 minutes in normal conditions according to the tourist office, takes the road up through the switchbacks to the villages of Courchevel. Our fares are calculated to Courchevel 1850; the lower villages are quoted in the web booker.
Route 2: the all-motorway way, via Chambéry
The alternative stays on motorways south from Geneva past Annecy to the Chambéry area, then east along the motorway towards Albertville, rejoining Route 1 for the valley and the climb. By our routed estimate, it is about 199 km (123 mi) and 2 hours 50 minutes on a clear road. It is longer, but on a snowy day the motorway is often the more predictable choice, and the chauffeur makes that call with the morning's road conditions in mind. French motorway tolls on either route are billed at cost.
Leaving Geneva Airport: the French sector
Geneva Airport has a France Sector with its own exit into France, used by some arriving passengers, and the airport explains how to reach it depending on where your flight comes from. It notes that only passengers holding a ticket for a flight that day, plus or minus one day, can move between the France Sector and the international sector. Tell the desk when you book if you expect to exit on the French side; otherwise the chauffeur meets you in the main arrivals hall with a name board. Either way, the chauffeur tracks your flight, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing covers a long wait at the oversize baggage belt with skis. See airport transfers and meet and greet.
The best stops on the way
A short comfort stop is normal on a two-and-a-half-hour drive. For a longer stop, such as lunch in Annecy, include it in your booking request so the timing and the fixed quote allow for it.
Annecy and its lake. About an hour from the airport, Lake Annecy is the obvious pause on Route 1: a walk or a coffee by the water breaks the drive just as the mountains begin. In winter, with an afternoon arrival, a short stop here still leaves daylight for the climb.
Albertville. The town at the mouth of the Tarentaise hosted the 1992 Winter Olympics, and its tourist office is housed in the Halle Olympique, alongside an Olympic ice rink and the Tremplin 92 exhibition on the mountains and the Olympic Games. It is a natural stretch-your-legs stop before the valley.
Moûtiers. The last town before the climb and the nearest railway station to Courchevel, which makes it the meeting point if part of your group arrives by train. The chauffeur can collect them at the station on the way up.
Winter rules and timing
In Savoie, the prefecture's winter rules require every vehicle, from 1 November to 31 March, either to have winter tyres marked 3PMSF or to carry snow chains or snow socks for the driven wheels. Partner vehicles assigned to Courchevel transfers in that period are equipped accordingly, and the chauffeur fits chains when signs or conditions call for them.
Saturdays. In season, Saturdays are changeover days across the Tarentaise, when departing and arriving guests share the same road. If your dates are flexible, a Sunday or midweek arrival is calmer.
Snow days. When snow is forecast, the chauffeur may suggest an earlier start or the motorway route. The fixed fare does not change.
The season. The Courchevel tourist office gives the 2026 to 2027 winter season as 4 December 2026 to 18 April 2027, with Christmas, New Year, the February school holidays and Easter as the peak weeks. Book transfers for those weeks as early as your flights.
What a driver costs from Geneva to Courchevel
| Elly8.net fare, Geneva Airport to Courchevel 1850 | One way | Round trip |
|---|---|---|
| Business Sedan (3 passengers, 2 bags) | US$525 | US$1,000 |
| Business SUV (6 passengers, 6 bags) | US$685 | US$1,305 |
| First Class SUV (6 passengers, 6 bags) | US$840 | US$1,600 |
| First Class Sedan (3 passengers, 2 bags) | US$920 | US$1,750 |
| Executive Sprinter (12 passengers, 12 bags) | US$1,365 | US$2,595 |
Each fare is per vehicle and all-in: chauffeur, winter-equipped vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet. Tolls and parking are billed at cost, as is waiting beyond the included time. The one-way fare is the same in either direction, so the trip down to Geneva costs the same as the trip up.
As arithmetic for comparison only, the US$1,365 Sprinter fare shared by eight skiers is about US$171 each, but the price is per vehicle and charged as one booking. Rides in Courchevel are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
Which vehicle for skis and families
A Business Sedan or First Class Sedan seats three with two bags, enough for a couple travelling light, but skis fill a sedan quickly. A Business SUV or First Class SUV seats up to six with six bags, the usual choice for a family with equipment. An Executive Sprinter seats up to twelve with twelve bags, for two families or a group of friends sharing a chalet. Tell us the number of ski, board and boot bags when you book, and ask for child or booster seats with the children's ages. See Sprinter van with driver and group transportation.
Shuttle, train or a private driver?
The honest view: a shared coach from Geneva is far cheaper for a solo traveller or a couple with one ski bag each, and the tourist office publishes coach schedules from Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry and Moûtiers. The train is a good option for travellers already in France, with Moûtiers as the nearest station and a taxi or bus for the last 30 minutes. A helicopter to the resort is the fastest choice when the weather allows.
A private driver wins for families and groups with equipment, for late or delayed arrivals, for chalet guests whose hosts want a reliable arrival time, and for anyone who would rather not fit chains on a switchback after an overnight flight. See chauffeur vs airport shuttle and chauffeur vs car rental.
Companies bringing clients or teams to Courchevel for a ski incentive can book every Geneva transfer on a corporate account, with fixed fares in US dollars, monthly invoicing and NDAs on request; one desk holds the manifest and matches each flight to a car. Chalet operators and travel agents book their guests' arrivals the same way through travel agent accounts and hotel accounts, so the chalet knows when each party will reach the door.
Once you are in Courchevel
Inside the resort and across Les 3 Vallées, a car by the hour costs US$95 in a business sedan, US$120 in a business SUV, US$145 in a First Class SUV, US$155 in a First Class Sedan and US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. By our routed estimates, Méribel is about 18 km (11 mi) and 25 minutes from Courchevel 1850, and Val Thorens about 53 km (33 mi) and just over an hour, so a full-day chauffeur, from US$700 to US$1,400, suits a day skiing elsewhere with the car carrying the skis. The evening out package, from US$475, keeps the car waiting through dinner. The Courchevel chauffeur page lists every price, including the Altiport from US$120.
The drive home to Geneva
The return needs more margin than the arrival, because it ends at a check-in desk and may start before dawn on a road that froze overnight. The desk works back from your flight: about three hours to Geneva in good conditions, extra time when snow is forecast or on a Saturday, plus the check-in time your airline recommends for a long-haul flight with ski bags. Booking the round trip with the arrival means the car is assigned before the valley's busiest days.
Combining the Alps with another resort or the city? Our guides to the Zurich to St. Moritz drive and the Zurich to St. Moritz train or private car choice cover a second ski week, and the same desk runs Geneva airport transfers, Nice and Milan.
