Renting a limo bus in Chicago starts with one number: how many people are really coming. A 12-seat party bus, a 16-passenger stretch SUV and a 12-seat Executive Sprinter all look similar in a quote, but they suit different nights. On Elly8.net the Sprinter is on the fixed Chicago price list at US$200 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, or US$1,000 for a five-hour evening, and party buses and stretch limousines are priced for your exact date and addresses in the web booker.
This guide covers what to book, what it costs, which City of Chicago licence applies to a vehicle with more than nine seats, and the questions to settle before you pay so the price on the night is the price you agreed. Rides in Chicago are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
How much does it cost to rent a limo bus in Chicago?
On Elly8.net, a 12-seat Executive Sprinter in Chicago costs US$200 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, US$800 for a four-hour tour, US$1,000 for a five-hour evening and US$1,475 for an eight-hour day, fixed and all-in. Party buses and stretch limousines are quoted in the web booker for your date, hours and addresses.
The fixed prices include the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes and standard gratuity. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Split twelve ways, a five-hour evening in the Sprinter comes to about US$83 a person with the gratuity already inside the price, which is usually the number a group organiser needs.
Here is the full Chicago grid for the vehicles that carry groups, alongside the smaller classes for comparison.
| Package (Chicago) | Business SUV, up to 6 | First Class SUV, up to 6 | Executive Sprinter, up to 12 |
|---|---|---|---|
| By the hour, as directed (3-hour minimum) | US$125/hr | US$150/hr | US$200/hr |
| Private city highlights tour, 4 hours | US$500 | US$600 | US$800 |
| Evening out & event night, 5 hours | US$625 | US$750 | US$1,000 |
| Full-day chauffeur, 8 hours | US$920 | US$1,105 | US$1,475 |
| O'Hare to the Loop, one way | US$280 | US$345 | US$560 |
Party buses, stretch limousines and stretch SUVs are not on the fixed list because partner availability and minimum hours vary more by date. The web booker prices them for your exact night, and the quote you accept is fixed in the same way.

Which size of limo bus do you need?
Seat counts in adverts are maximums. The right vehicle is the one that carries everyone comfortably, plus coats in winter, plus anything you are bringing. These are the classes on our fleet page:
| Vehicle | Seats | Feel inside | Best for | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business SUV | up to 6 | forward-facing, quiet | small groups, airport runs | fixed Chicago list |
| Stretch limousine | up to 8 | low side seating, classic look | proms, anniversaries, small parties | web booker |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | forward-facing, high roof, luggage space | concerts, games, brewery tours, weddings | fixed Chicago list |
| Party bus | up to 12 | perimeter seating, lighting and sound | birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette nights | web booker |
| Stretch SUV limousine | up to 16 | limousine seating, big-celebration look | larger birthday and graduation groups | web booker |
Larger buses are available from partners on many dates. Enter your headcount in the booker or ask the 24/7 desk what can be offered for your night.
A simple rule from our desk: if your group is between 9 and 12, choose between the Sprinter and the party bus by the kind of night, not the price. The Sprinter is calmer and better for a night with several stops, a game or a long drive. The party bus is better when the vehicle itself is part of the celebration. If your group is 13 or more, look at the stretch SUV or two vehicles, because one overcrowded bus is the most common complaint in this business.
The Chicago licence rules that matter above nine seats
Chicago is unusually clear about which vehicles need which licence, and it is worth knowing before you book. The City's Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) licenses public chauffeurs and public passenger vehicles, including liveries and charter and sightseeing buses, as it explains on its public passenger vehicles page.
According to the City's livery vehicle page, a Chicago livery has a maximum seating capacity of 9 persons including the driver, and vehicles with more than 9 seats require a Charter/Sightseeing licence instead. In other words, most party buses and limo buses in the city sit under the charter and sightseeing rules, and the City lists those licences separately on its charter and sightseeing licence page.
The same livery page sets out details that help you recognise a properly licensed smaller vehicle: liveries charge a fare fixed by agreement in advance, cannot accept street hails, carry Illinois licence plates in set number ranges with the LY suffix, and must hold at least US$350,000 of combined single-limit liability cover for vehicles with up to nine seats. Drivers paid to drive these vehicles must hold a City of Chicago Public Chauffeur licence. Vehicles based outside the city need a City tax registration emblem to pick up or drop off in Chicago.
For buses that cross state lines, such as a Milwaukee birthday group coming south for a night, the federal USDOT number can be checked on the FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot. Every Elly8.net partner is licensed and commercially insured, and the desk confirms the vehicle class and seat count in your booking.
What is included, and what can be added on the night
Most surprises on limo bus nights come from four places. Settle them before you pay.
Hours. Know when the clock starts and stops. Our hourly service is as directed with a 3-hour minimum, and the five-hour evening package covers dinner, a show, a game or a club night with the car waiting for the way home. If your night will run longer, book the hours now; adding time on the night depends on the chauffeur's next booking.
Gratuity and taxes. On Elly8.net both are included in the price. Ask any quote you compare whether the tip is extra, because a 20% gratuity added at the end changes the per-person maths.
Tolls, parking and waiting. These are billed at cost on our bookings. In practice, a night inside the city rarely involves tolls; a trip to a suburb or across into Indiana or Wisconsin may. Waiting beyond the included time is the line item to watch on a long night out.
Damage and cleaning. Rules differ by operator. Assume that anything spilled or broken will be charged, and keep the group seated while the vehicle moves.
On alcohol, the honest answer is that rules depend on the vehicle, the licence and the passengers' ages, and the chauffeur follows local rules. Plan the celebration around the venues, not the ride. If your group includes anyone under 21, read our Chicago prom limo checklist for parents, which covers the stricter expectations for student nights.
Chicago nights that need a limo bus
Limo buses are booked for the same handful of Chicago nights again and again. Each has its own traffic pattern.
River North, the West Loop and Fulton Market. The dinner-and-club circuit. Restaurant rows on Randolph Street and around Fulton Market have tight curbs on weekend nights, so the chauffeur may stage around the corner and come to the door when you call.
Game nights. The United Center on the Near West Side, Soldier Field on the lakefront and Wrigley Field in Lakeview each empty differently. Agree a pickup point a few blocks away, not at the main gate. Our sports event transportation page explains how we plan exits.
Concerts and festivals. Lollapalooza takes over Grant Park each summer; the 2026 edition ran July 30 to August 2, and future dates are posted on lollapalooza.com. Street closures around the park push pickups to side streets. The City also publishes traffic management directives for public vehicles at major events and venues, which is why our partners plan festival and stadium pickups at agreed points. See concert transportation for how a festival night runs.
Brewery, winery and neighbourhood tours. A Sprinter for four or five hours suits a tour of the city's breweries or a day in the suburbs, with forward-facing seats and room for anything you buy. For larger outings, our group transportation page covers shuttles and multiple vehicles.
Weddings. A limo bus or Sprinter for the wedding party is a classic Chicago pairing with a sedan for the couple. Our guide to how many cars a Chicago wedding needs works through the numbers.
When to book a Chicago limo bus
Party buses and stretch SUVs are a small share of any city's fleet, and Chicago is no exception. The dates that go first are predictable: prom and graduation weekends in spring, Saturday nights from June to October, Lollapalooza weekend, big game nights, and the weeks before the winter holidays. If your date is one of those, book as soon as the headcount is roughly known; you can adjust the number of passengers later more easily than you can find a free bus.
The cancellation policy gives you room to plan: more than 72 hours before pickup, cancellation is free; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less, or a no-show, is 100%. Refunds go back to the original card. For a group night, that means you can lock in the vehicle early and still change your mind up to three days before.
Questions to ask before you pay
A short checklist that prevents most problems:
- How many seats, and how many people will be comfortable? Ask for the real seat count, and size up if the group is close to the limit.
- What licence does the vehicle hold? For more than nine seats in Chicago, the answer should be a charter or sightseeing licence.
- Is the price all-in? Confirm that gratuity and taxes are included, and how tolls, parking and extra waiting are charged.
- What exactly is the schedule? List every pickup, stop and drop-off with times. A chauffeur can only follow a plan that exists.
- Who is the contact on the night? Give the desk one organiser's mobile number, and keep the 24/7 desk number from your confirmation handy.
- What happens if plans change? Know the cancellation terms and how late you can add an hour.
How to book
- Enter the first pickup and the last drop-off, with every stop in between, the date and the hours you need.
- Choose the vehicle: an Executive Sprinter from the fixed Chicago list, or a party bus, stretch limousine or stretch SUV quoted in the booker. Add the passenger count.
- Press Reserve now and pay by card. Confirmation arrives by email, and the chauffeur's details follow before pickup.

Frequently asked questions
How many people fit in a Chicago limo bus?
On our fleet list, a party bus seats up to 12, a stretch SUV limousine up to 16 and an Executive Sprinter up to 12. Larger buses are available from partners on many dates. Choose a vehicle with a few spare seats, especially in winter, because a full bus with coats and bags is uncomfortable.
How much is a party bus for five hours in Chicago?
The fixed five-hour Evening out package in an Executive Sprinter for up to 12 people is US$1,000, all-in with gratuity and taxes, or about US$83 a person for twelve. Party buses and stretch limousines are quoted in the web booker for your date, because availability and minimum hours vary by night.
Does a limo bus in Chicago need a special licence?
Yes. According to the City of Chicago, livery vehicles can seat a maximum of nine people including the driver, and vehicles with more than nine seats need a Charter/Sightseeing licence from the City's Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection. Livery drivers must hold a City Public Chauffeur licence.
Is the tip included in the price?
Yes. Every Elly8.net fixed price includes standard gratuity and taxes, as well as the chauffeur and the vehicle. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. When comparing quotes, ask whether a gratuity will be added at the end, since that changes the per-person cost.
Can we drink on a Chicago party bus?
Rules depend on the vehicle, its licence and the passengers, and the chauffeur follows local rules. We never plan a night around drinking in the vehicle. Plan the celebration around the restaurants and venues, keep everyone seated while the bus moves, and never bring alcohol on a trip with passengers under 21.
What is the cancellation policy for a limo bus?
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup. Within 72 hours the charge is 10%, within 48 hours 50%, and within 24 hours or for a no-show 100% of the fare. Refunds go to the original card. Changes to times, stops or headcount are handled by the 24/7 desk.
