A Chicago wedding limo plan usually needs fewer cars than couples expect, but it needs them at exactly the right times. The common pattern is one car for the couple, one larger vehicle for the wedding party, and a shuttle plan for guests if the ceremony and reception are in different places. On Elly8.net a five-hour Chicago block starts at US$500 in a business sedan and reaches US$1,000 in a 12-seat Executive Sprinter, fixed and all-in.
This guide works through the numbers: how many vehicles your headcount needs, how a Chicago wedding day runs from the getting-ready suite to the last exit, where photo stops need a permit, and which weekends to book first. Rides in Chicago are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
How many wedding cars do you need in Chicago?
Count the people who must travel together at each moment, not the guest list. Most Chicago weddings need one car for the couple, one vehicle for the wedding party (an SUV for up to 6, a Sprinter for up to 12), and guest shuttles only if the ceremony and reception are apart. Parents often share one extra car.
The mistake we see most is booking by guest count. Two hundred guests do not need two hundred seats; they need a plan for the moments when people move: from the hotel to the ceremony, from the ceremony to the reception, and home at the end. Start with the core group and add vehicles only where people cannot get there on their own.
| Who travels | Typical size | Vehicle | Five-hour Chicago block |
|---|---|---|---|
| The couple | 2 | First Class sedan, business sedan, or a Rolls-Royce quoted in the booker | US$800 First Class, US$500 business |
| Small wedding party | up to 6 | Business SUV or First Class SUV | US$625 or US$750 |
| Full wedding party | 7 to 12 | Executive Sprinter | US$1,000 |
| Parents and grandparents | 3 to 6 | Business sedan or SUV | US$500 or US$625 |
| Guest shuttle | 12 per run | Executive Sprinter, by the hour | US$200 an hour, 3-hour minimum |
The five-hour block is our Evening out and event night package: drop-off at the door, the car waiting for the next move, and every stop in your schedule. It includes the chauffeur, taxes and standard gratuity; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. If your day runs longer, an eight-hour Full-day chauffeur starts at US$740 in a business sedan and US$1,475 in a Sprinter, and hourly service runs from US$100 to US$200 an hour.

Three Chicago wedding plans, priced
These are real combinations from the Chicago price list, so you can see what the totals look like.
A small wedding. The couple in a First Class sedan for five hours (US$800) and four attendants in a business SUV for the same block (US$625). Total US$1,425, with both cars at the ceremony, the photo stops and the reception arrival.
A full wedding party. The couple in a First Class sedan (US$800) and ten attendants in an Executive Sprinter (US$1,000), both for five hours. Total US$1,800. The Sprinter also carries bouquets, a garment bag and the photographer's kit on photo stops.
A guest shuttle day. Forty guests staying at one downtown hotel, a ceremony and reception at the same venue a few miles away. Two Executive Sprinters for four hours each, at US$200 an hour, total US$1,600: they run loops before the ceremony and again at the end of the night, 12 guests per run. The couple's car is booked separately.
For any address combination not on the list, such as a North Shore church and a West Loop loft, the web booker prices it in every class.
How a Chicago wedding day runs, hour by hour
Every wedding is different, but most Chicago days follow the same shape. Build your car schedule on top of it.
Getting ready. Many couples get ready at a Magnificent Mile, Gold Coast or River North hotel. Tell the desk which entrance to use, because some hotel motor courts are tight and some properties prefer a side door for wedding parties with dresses and garment bags.
The ceremony. The wedding party usually leaves first, so they are in place when the couple arrives. Allow a generous buffer: a 15-minute drive on a weekday can take 30 on a summer Saturday with a street festival nearby. Chauffeurs arrive early and wait.
Photos. Chicago's lakefront and parks are the backdrop most couples want, and many of the best-known spots belong to the Chicago Park District. According to the Park District's filming and photography permit page, wedding and engagement photos at its locations need a non-commercial photography permit, charged per location, per hour. The bookable list includes Buckingham Fountain, the Museum Campus skyline view, the North Avenue Beach chess pavilion, the Ping Tom Park pagoda, Montrose Harbor and spots in Lincoln Park. Buckingham Fountain is off from mid-October through April, and the Garfield Park and Lincoln Park conservatories also need an entry reservation for everyone in the party, available 30 days ahead. Millennium Park is managed separately, so call it directly.
The reception. Cars drop the couple and the wedding party at the door, then either stay or return at a set time. With the five-hour block the car waits; with separate transfers, the desk books a return pickup for the exit.
The exit. The last move is the one people forget. Book the couple's departure car, and a late shuttle for guests if the reception is not at their hotel. A chauffeur waiting at a set time is calmer than forty guests requesting app rides at midnight.
Photo stops add the most time. Two locations with 30 to 45 minutes each, plus driving between them, can take two hours on their own. If photos are central to your day, a Full-day chauffeur may cost less than a five-hour block plus extra hours.
When to book your Chicago wedding cars
The short answer from our desk: book the cars as soon as the date, the ceremony venue and the reception venue are fixed, and confirm the final schedule a few weeks before.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| As soon as the venues are set | Reserve the couple's car and the wedding-party vehicle, especially for a summer or autumn Saturday |
| 2 to 3 months before | Confirm headcounts, decide on guest shuttles and add parents' cars |
| Within 60 days of the ceremony | Collect the marriage licence; the Cook County Clerk issues it for weddings within 60 days |
| 2 to 3 weeks before | Send the desk the final timeline, addresses, entrances and photo stops |
| The week of the wedding | Share one coordinator's mobile number and keep your confirmation email handy |
The licence step is a useful anchor. According to the Cook County Clerk, couples marrying in Chicago or suburban Cook County must obtain a marriage licence from the Clerk's office within 60 days of the ceremony, and the licence fee is US$60. If you are at the licence stage, your transport plan should already be booked.
Some dates are harder than others. Saturdays from June to October are the busiest for weddings in general, and Chicago adds its own city-wide events. Lollapalooza fills Grant Park each summer, usually late July or early August, with street closures downtown; the festival posts dates on lollapalooza.com. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is scheduled for October 10, 2027 (chicagomarathon.com), and race morning closes much of the Loop and the lakefront course. A wedding that weekend needs routes planned around the closures. Large McCormick Place shows also fill downtown hotels, which matters if your guests are booking rooms.
Winter weddings have their own logic. Snow and early darkness make a chauffeur the safest way to move a wedding party, and fewer competing weddings mean more choice of vehicles. Build extra buffer into every leg, and tell the desk about long dresses and heels so the chauffeur can stop as close to the door as the curb allows.
Choosing the couple's car
The couple's car is the one that appears in the photos, so it is worth choosing deliberately.
- First Class sedan: a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or similar, discreet and comfortable, fixed at US$800 for the five-hour block in Chicago.
- First Class SUV: an Escalade, Navigator or similar, more room for a dress, US$750 for five hours.
- Rolls-Royce or Mercedes-Maybach: the classic wedding choice, priced in the web booker for your date. Partner Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley vehicles are seven model years old or newer; all other partner vehicles are four model years or newer.
- Stretch limousine: up to 8 passengers with traditional limousine seating, priced in the booker, for couples who want the wedding party in the same car.
Our wedding limousine service page explains how we schedule multi-car weddings, and our black car vs limousine comparison helps if you are deciding between a sedan and a stretch.
Guests, airport arrivals and the weekend around the wedding
Destination weddings in Chicago bring guests through O'Hare and Midway. Pre-booking their airport transfers takes pressure off the couple: O'Hare to the Loop is US$215 in a business sedan and US$560 in an Executive Sprinter for a family group, and Midway starts at US$160. Every pickup is flight-tracked, and the chauffeur meets guests in baggage claim with a name board.
For guest shuttles between hotels and the venue, our group transportation page covers loops and timings. If the wedding party wants a celebration the night before, our guide to Chicago limo bus sizes and prices covers party buses and Sprinters. Guests driving down from Wisconsin can read Milwaukee to Chicago by private car, and a corporate account can be opened when a company is paying for an executive's wedding travel. Planners and hotels booking for several couples can use a travel agent account.
On drinks: the chauffeur follows local rules for everything inside the vehicle. Plan the toasts at the venue.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a wedding limo in Chicago?
A five-hour wedding block on Elly8.net costs US$500 in a business sedan, US$625 in a business SUV, US$750 in a First Class SUV, US$800 in a First Class sedan and US$1,000 in a 12-seat Executive Sprinter. Prices are fixed and all-in, including gratuity. Rolls-Royce and stretch limousines are quoted in the web booker.
How many hours should we book for a wedding?
Five hours covers most days from the ceremony to the reception arrival, or from the reception to the exit. If you add two photo locations, a getting-ready pickup and the exit, the day can reach seven or eight hours, and the eight-hour Full-day chauffeur, from US$740 in a business sedan, is usually better value than extra hours.
Do we need a car for the guests?
Only if guests cannot reasonably get there themselves. If the ceremony and reception are at the same hotel, they usually do not. If guests are staying downtown and the venue is in the suburbs, or parking is scarce, an Executive Sprinter running loops at US$200 an hour carries 12 guests per run.
Do we need a permit for wedding photos in Chicago parks?
For Chicago Park District locations, yes. The Park District requires a non-commercial photography permit for wedding and engagement photos, charged per location, per hour, with bookable spots such as Buckingham Fountain, Museum Campus and North Avenue Beach. Millennium Park is managed separately. Tell the desk your photo stops so the schedule allows time.
How early should we book wedding cars in Chicago?
As soon as the date and venues are fixed, particularly for Saturdays from June to October and weekends with big city events such as Lollapalooza or the marathon. Free cancellation up to 72 hours before pickup means booking early carries little risk. Confirm the final timeline two to three weeks before the wedding.
Can the chauffeur wait during the reception?
Yes, within the hours you book. With the five-hour block or a full day, the car waits between moves. If you only need the arrival and the exit, two separate transfers can cost less; the web booker prices each leg, and the desk sets the exit pickup time.
