A private driver in Austin means one chauffeur, one vehicle and a fixed price for the whole job, whether that is a 14-minute run from Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) or a ten-hour day that ends in Fredericksburg. With Elly8.net, a private driver by the hour starts at US$95 an hour in a business sedan and US$190 in a 12-seat Executive Sprinter, with a three-hour minimum, and an airport transfer to downtown starts at US$120.
The harder question is which kind of booking suits the trip. Austin is compact on a map but uneven in practice: the airport is about 8 miles (13 km) from downtown, yet Thursday-to-Saturday nights on Sixth Street, SXSW in March and race weekends at Circuit of The Americas change every drive time in the city. This guide covers the neighbourhoods, the traffic peaks, the routes the desk books most often and the vehicle that fits each one. Rides in Austin are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
How much does a private driver cost in Austin?
An Elly8.net private driver in Austin costs US$95 an hour in a business sedan, US$120 in a business SUV, US$145 in a First Class SUV, US$155 in a First Class sedan and US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, with a three-hour minimum. Fixed packages run from a four-hour city tour at US$380 to a ten-hour Hill Country day.
Every price is per vehicle, fixed and all-in: the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, a standard gratuity and, for airport pickups, meet and greet inside the terminal. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Nothing changes with demand, which matters in a city whose busiest weekends are also its most expensive ones for app rides.
| Booking | Business sedan | Business SUV | Executive Sprinter | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AUS to or from downtown | US$120 | US$160 | US$315 | Arrivals, departures |
| By the hour (3-hour minimum) | US$95/h | US$120/h | US$190/h | Meetings, errands, flexible nights |
| Private city highlights tour (4 h) | US$380 | US$480 | US$760 | First visit, visiting family |
| Evening out & event night (5 h) | US$475 | US$600 | US$950 | Dinner, concert, a game |
| Full-day chauffeur (8 h) | US$700 | US$885 | US$1,400 | Days with several addresses |
| Hill Country wineries, Fredericksburg (10 h) | US$875 | US$1,105 | US$1,750 | Signature day trip |
The First Class classes sit between those columns: a First Class sedan is US$210 from AUS to downtown and a First Class SUV US$195. The full list, including round trips and the corporate roadshow day, is on the Austin price panel.
Which vehicle for which Austin trip
The fleet is simpler than it looks. Five classes are fixed on the price list and the rest are priced in the web booker for your date and route.
Business sedan (up to 3 passengers, 2 bags). An E-Class, CT6, Continental or similar. This is the default for a solo traveller or a couple: AUS to a Congress Avenue hotel, a dinner on South Congress, a meeting at the Domain. It is also the easiest car to bring into a tight downtown hotel driveway.
Business SUV (up to 6 passengers, 6 bags). A Suburban, Yukon XL or similar. Choose it as soon as there are golf bags, a stroller, child seats or more than two large suitcases. Families flying in for a Lake Travis week almost always need the SUV, not the sedan.
First Class sedan and First Class SUV. An S-Class, an Escalade, a Navigator or similar, for an executive arrival, a client you are hosting or a milestone dinner. Interestingly, in Austin the First Class SUV (US$195 from AUS) is priced below the First Class sedan (US$210), so a group of four or five who want the premium class should take the SUV.
Executive Sprinter (up to 12 passengers, 12 bags). Standing headroom and forward-facing seats. This is the vehicle for teams, wedding parties, festival groups and anyone who wants everybody to arrive at once. Split twelve ways, the US$315 airport run works out at about US$26 a person.
Stretch limousines, a stretch SUV limousine, a party bus, a Jet Sprinter with captain's chairs, a Mercedes-Maybach and a Rolls-Royce are all on the fleet page and are quoted in the web booker. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, or seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley.
The Austin map in five districts
A private driver earns the most in a city where your day crosses districts with different traffic rules. These are the five areas that come up in almost every Austin booking.
Downtown and the Capitol. Congress Avenue runs from Lady Bird Lake up to the Texas State Capitol, which offers free tours. Most of the big hotels sit along Congress, Cesar Chavez and the 2nd Street District. Downtown is where the Elly8.net airport prices are centred.
Sixth Street and Rainey Street. The two nightlife corridors. Visit Austin notes that Sixth Street is closed to through traffic Thursday through Saturday nights, so the chauffeur drops you at a cross street and agrees a pickup corner before you walk in. Rainey Street, on the edge of downtown by the lake, is a row of converted bungalows that fills on weekend evenings; the street is narrow and drivers cannot wait on it.
South Congress. Across the river, SoCo is boutiques, patios and live music most nights. It is the classic first stop for visitors and an easy pickup if you pick a side street rather than the avenue itself.
East Austin. Restaurants, breweries and bars spread over a wide grid east of I-35. It suits an hourly booking, because stops are far enough apart that walking between them is not practical at night.
The Domain and north Austin. The second downtown, with hotels, shopping and offices. A meeting at the Domain and a lunch downtown is the most common two-stop business day in the city, and an hourly chauffeur covers it without parking twice.
Traffic peaks and the weekends that change everything
On a clear road the airport is about 14 minutes from downtown. That number is honest at 11 a.m. on a Tuesday and almost meaningless on a few dozen days a year.
Weekday rush. I-35 through central Austin and MoPac are slow in both peaks. If you have a flight to catch from a north Austin meeting, allow extra time, and tell the desk the flight time so pickup is set from it.
Thursday to Saturday nights. Sixth Street closes to through traffic, Rainey fills, and downtown streets around the bars move slowly after 10 p.m. A waiting chauffeur on a five-hour evening is the difference between a planned exit and a long walk to a busy app zone.
SXSW. SXSW 2027 runs March 15 to 21. Streets close downtown and in the Red River district, hotel rates peak and every vehicle class books up. Hourly bookings are the norm, and a Full-day chauffeur from US$700 in a business sedan is often cheaper than stitching together single rides.
Race weekends. Circuit of The Americas in southeast Austin lists NASCAR on March 5 to 7, 2027 and MotoGP on April 23 to 25, 2027, alongside the Formula 1 weekend each autumn. Race days produce some of the heaviest traffic in the region, and the chauffeur follows the circuit's published drop-off and pickup arrangements.
ACL Festival and game days. ACL fills Zilker Park over two weekends, usually in early October, and UT home football brings Saturday crowds around campus in the autumn. Plan around both if you are landing or leaving on those days.
The desk will warn you when your date falls on one of these weekends. For a deeper look at the airport options on busy days, read our comparison of taxi from Austin airport vs Uber vs a private car.
Popular routes and how to book them
AUS arrival to a downtown hotel. Book a one-way airport transfer with your flight number. The chauffeur tracks the landing and meets you inside the Barbara Jordan Terminal at baggage claim with a name board, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. Since the South Terminal closed on April 1, 2026, all airlines use the Barbara Jordan Terminal, according to the airport's notice. The same fare applies in the other direction, so a hotel-to-AUS departure in a business sedan is also US$120.
A meeting day across town. Downtown, the Domain and back to AUS for the evening flight. An hourly chauffeur keeps the car waiting outside each stop. For a day with five or more meetings, the Corporate roadshow day (ten hours, from US$855) is 10% below the hourly rate; our guide to Austin executive car service explains accounts and invoicing.
A first look at the city. The four-hour private city highlights tour, from US$380, can take in the Capitol, South Congress, the lakefront and the University of Texas campus, with stops of your choosing. See private city tours.
Dinner and a show. The Evening out & event night package holds one car for five hours: drop-off at the restaurant, the concert at the Moody Center or a match at Q2 Stadium, and the ride home. For concerts, see concert transportation.
Hill Country wineries. The signature Austin day: ten hours to Fredericksburg and back, from US$875 in a business sedan to US$1,750 in an Executive Sprinter. Visit Fredericksburg is the place to plan tastings, and the chauffeur drives, waits at each stop and brings everyone home. Tasting happens at the wineries, not in the vehicle; the chauffeur follows Texas rules on alcohol. Our wine tours page covers how the day is planned.
On to another city. San Antonio is the closest Elly8.net city, with San Antonio car service on the same account, and Houston and Dallas are common onward drives. Point-to-point trips between them are priced in the web booker; see city to city car service.
Booking tips the desk gives every Austin client
Book the date, not the time. On festival and race weekends vehicles sell out before hotels do. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, so reserving early costs nothing if plans change in time. Inside 72 hours the charge is 10%, inside 48 hours 50%, and inside 24 hours or for a no-show 100%, refunded to the original card.
Give the flight number, not the landing time. It lets the chauffeur track delays and early arrivals automatically.
Name the hotel entrance. Several downtown hotels have a main driveway and a side entrance. Telling the desk which one you will use saves ten minutes on a busy night.
Agree pickup corners for nights out. With Sixth Street closed to through traffic on weekend nights, a named corner a block away beats a moving pin.
Ask for child seats when you book. Seats are provided on request; give the number and ages so they are fitted before pickup.
Choose hourly for open-ended days. When you do not know how long the meeting or lunch will run, hourly is fairer than a string of one-ways, and the car stays with you.

How booking works
- Enter the pickup and drop-off, adding the flight number for AUS pickups.
- Choose the vehicle class, add child seats, bags and notes.
- Press Reserve now on the Austin page to pay by card, or use the web booker for any address or vehicle not on the price list. Confirmation arrives by email, and the chauffeur's name and contact follow before pickup.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a private driver in Austin for a day?
A Full-day chauffeur in Austin is eight hours, priced at US$700 in a business sedan, US$885 in a business SUV and US$1,400 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in. That is 8% below the hourly rate. For a ten-hour meeting schedule, the Corporate roadshow day starts at US$855, and the Hill Country winery day at US$875.
What is the minimum booking for an hourly driver?
Three hours. The hourly rate runs from US$95 in a business sedan to US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, and you can choose up to 12 hours at checkout. The car waits between stops, so you do not need to call for a new ride after each meeting or meal.
Where does the driver meet me at Austin airport?
Inside the Barbara Jordan Terminal, at baggage claim, holding a name board. The chauffeur tracks your flight, so early and late landings are handled, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included. You do not need to walk to the shared rideshare and taxi pickup area behind the Red Garage.
Can a private driver take us to COTA on race day?
Yes. Most clients book hourly or a Full-day chauffeur because race-day traffic is slow before and after the main event. The chauffeur follows the circuit's published drop-off and pickup arrangements and agrees a meeting point with you in advance. Book as soon as your race dates are set.
Is a private driver worth it for one person?
Not always. For a solo traveller with light bags heading downtown in daylight, CapMetro's Route 20 or a taxi is cheaper. A private driver makes more sense for late arrivals, meeting days with several stops, families with child seats, groups who can share one vehicle, and festival or race weekends.
Do prices change during SXSW?
No. Elly8.net prices are fixed per vehicle and do not surge. What changes is availability, because vehicles book out early for SXSW, ACL and race weekends. Street closures may move the pickup point, and the chauffeur confirms it with you in advance.
