A Tremblant taxi is the right answer for most short hops around the resort: from the pedestrian village to a restaurant in town, from a condo to the gondola base, or back from a late dinner. Where a meter is used, Quebec taxis charge the rates set by the Commission des transports du Quebec (CTQ), so a 10 km trip in daytime works out to roughly C$26 before any slow-traffic minutes. App rides follow a different rule: the app must show you a maximum price in writing, and you accept it, before a driver is told about your request.
The catch at a ski resort is not price. It is timing. Everybody leaves the slopes at the same hour, everybody wants dinner at the same hour, and everybody heads home after the same last call. This guide from the Elly8.net reservations desk sets out the official numbers, explains when local cars run short, and says plainly when a taxi is fine and when a pre-booked car is worth paying for.
How much is a taxi in Mont-Tremblant?
Metered taxis in Quebec use CTQ rates. By day (5:00 a.m. to 10:59 p.m.) it is C$4.10 to start, C$2.05 per km and C$0.77 a minute when slow; by night C$4.70, C$2.35 and C$0.89. A C$1.05 provincial fee is added to each trip, taxes included. Confirm the price before setting off.
Those figures are on the CTQ rates page, in force since September 12, 2022. The meter never counts distance and time together. Below a transition speed of about 22.5 km/h (14 mph) by day, it counts minutes; at or above that speed, it counts kilometres. On an open road between the village and town, the per-kilometre rate does most of the work. In a slow queue on a snowy evening, the per-minute rate takes over.
One caution. The CTQ lists certain municipalities and territories that are exempt from the taximeter requirement. Rather than assume how a given car is charging, ask the driver or the dispatcher for the price or the rate before you get in. That is normal practice in resort areas and avoids any surprise at the door.

What typical resort rides cost on the meter
Rides around Tremblant are short, which keeps the meter low. The table below is arithmetic from the CTQ rates, counting distance only, for comparison. Real fares add minutes spent below the transition speed, so treat these as a floor rather than a quote.
| Distance on the meter | Day rate (start + km + fee) | Night rate (start + km + fee) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 km (about 2 mi) | about C$11.30 | about C$12.80 | Village hotel to a nearby condo or lift base |
| 10 km (about 6 mi) | about C$25.65 | about C$29.25 | Village to a restaurant or shop in town |
| 25 km (about 16 mi) | about C$56.40 | about C$64.50 | A dinner or spa further out in the valley |
| 134 km (83 mi) | about C$280 | about C$320 | The full run to Montreal-Trudeau (YUL) |
For the shortest trips, a taxi is clearly the economical choice and we would not suggest anything else for one or two people. The numbers start to change only with group size, multiple stops, waiting time and the long run back to the airport. A Quebec taxi charges waiting at the per-minute rate as well, so a car that waits outside a restaurant for an hour is billing roughly C$46 by day for that hour, on the CTQ's own figure of C$46.20 an hour.
Rideshare at Tremblant: what the rules say
App-based rides in Quebec can be priced differently from the taxi tariff, but only on one condition. The CTQ says the customer must be able to see the maximum price in writing and accept it before the driver is notified of the request. That protects you from a nasty surprise at the end of the trip; it does not protect you from a high price at the start. When demand is heavy, the maximum you are shown will be higher.
The bigger question in a resort region is supply. A city like Montreal has thousands of drivers online at any hour. A mountain resort has far fewer, and the number swings with the season and the time of night. Open the app before you plan an evening around it. If you see cars at 4 p.m. on a Tuesday, that tells you little about 11 p.m. on the Saturday of a holiday week. Our Uber and Lyft comparison explains the general trade-offs.
When the wait gets long
Waits for a local car follow the rhythm of the resort. These are the patterns we plan around at the desk.
Last chair and après. When the lifts close, a large share of the village wants to move at once: back to condos, out to dinner in town, across to accommodation further along the lake. If you need a car at that hour, book it in advance or be ready to wait.
Dinner and closing time. Restaurants seat in waves, and the late wave all leaves together. If you are taking a taxi home from town after 11 p.m., the night rate applies and the queue for the few cars on duty can be long on a holiday weekend.
Holiday weeks and event weekends. Christmas and New Year, Quebec's March school break, US Presidents' Day and spring break weeks, and summer race weekends all fill the resort. Tremblant's 2026-27 ski season is scheduled from November 26, 2026 to April 18, 2027 on the resort's opening hours page, and the peak weeks inside it are when local cars run shortest.
Weather. A heavy snowfall slows every car on the road, and the per-minute rate means a slow trip costs more.
Questions to ask before a longer taxi ride
Short hops rarely need a conversation. For anything longer, such as a trip to a restaurant further along the valley, a run to a cross-country trail or the drive to Montreal, a few questions at the start save trouble at the end.
Is the price on the meter or agreed now? Under the CTQ rules a taxi charges its tariff unless a different price is set in a written contract, so if a driver offers a flat figure, ask how it is being recorded.
Is it the day rate or the night rate? The night rate starts at 11:00 p.m. and runs to 4:59 a.m. A late dinner that ends at 10:45 p.m. and one that ends at 11:15 p.m. are priced differently.
Will the car wait or come back? Waiting runs at the per-minute rate. For a short stop it is cheaper to keep the car; for a two-hour dinner it is usually cheaper to call again, if a car will be free at that hour.
Is there room for the gear? A sedan taxi with four skiers and their boot bags is a tight fit. Say how many people and what they are carrying when you call.
What is the extra C$1.05? It is the provincial fee of C$0.90 plus tax added to every trip since January 1, 2021. It does not appear on the CTQ tariff sticker; a separate sticker in the car explains it, so it is not a driver's surcharge.

|---|---|---|---|
| Metered taxi | CTQ rates, or a price agreed before departure | Billed per minute if the car waits | One to four people, short hops, off-peak hours |

| Elly8.net YUL transfer | Fixed from US$350 per vehicle | Flight tracked, meet and greet | The trip to or from the airport |
When a booked car is the smarter call
Taxis are good value around Tremblant, and a booked car is not the answer for every trip. It earns its place in five situations.
A group bigger than one taxi. A Business SUV or Van takes six passengers, and an Executive Sprinter takes twelve. A group of eight heading to dinner in two or three taxis pays two or three meters and waits for two or three cars. One Executive Sprinter by the hour, from US$220 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, moves the whole party together and waits outside.
An evening with more than one stop. Dinner in town, then a show, then a nightcap at the casino means three separate taxi calls at three busy moments. With an hourly chauffeur, the car is simply there. The Casino de Mont-Tremblant is one of the evening draws that Laurentides tourism lists for the area.
A fixed time that matters. A spa appointment, a ski lesson at a set hour or a dinner reservation for a birthday is not the moment to discover there are no cars online. A booked car turns up at the time on the booking.
Children. Child seats are available on request with a booked car and are fitted before pickup. A taxi from the rank will not usually have one.
The airport. The trip to Montreal-Trudeau is 134 km. On the meter, at the day rate, distance alone comes to about C$275. A fixed Elly8.net Business Sedan is US$350 and a Business SUV US$455 per vehicle, with flight tracking and meet and greet included, and you know the price before you travel. Our Montreal airport to Mont Tremblant guide covers that run step by step.
A practical plan for a week at Tremblant
Most visitors do not need a car every day. A sensible pattern looks like this: a fixed transfer from YUL on arrival, walking and the resort's own lifts and paths for the ski days, a taxi for the odd short trip into town, and one or two booked evenings for the group dinner or the night out. Then the fixed transfer back to the airport, booked at the same time as the arrival so the return is locked in on checkout day.
If you want a day off the slopes, the private highlights tour, from US$440 in a Business Sedan to US$880 in an Executive Sprinter, covers lookouts, lakes and villages with the car waiting at each stop; see private city tours. Mont-Tremblant National Park is one of the area's big outdoor draws in every season, and a driver makes it easy to start a hike at one trailhead and finish at another.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a taxi cost around Tremblant?
Metered Quebec taxis charge CTQ rates: by day C$4.10 to start, C$2.05 per km and C$0.77 a minute when slow, plus a C$1.05 fee. A 10 km daytime trip is about C$26 on distance alone. Some areas are exempt from the meter requirement, so ask for the price or rate before you set off.
Can you use Uber or Lyft at Mont-Tremblant?
App rides can operate in Quebec, and the law requires the app to show a maximum price you accept before a driver is assigned. Availability at a mountain resort is the issue, and it changes by season and hour. Check the app in advance rather than relying on it for a fixed-time trip or a late return.
When are taxi waits longest at Tremblant?
At lift closing, at the end of the late dinner sitting, and on holiday weeks such as Christmas, Quebec's March break and US spring break. Heavy snow slows every car on the road. For a reservation or a group, book a car in advance for those hours.
Is a chauffeur by the hour worth it for one dinner?
For one couple and one restaurant, usually not; a taxi is cheaper. Hourly service from US$110 an hour in a Business Sedan, with a 3-hour minimum, makes sense for groups that would need several taxis, evenings with more than one stop, children who need seats, or a late return when few cars are running.
Is a taxi to Montreal airport cheaper than a fixed transfer?
On the meter, 134 km at the day rate comes to about C$280 before slow-traffic minutes, in Canadian dollars. A fixed Elly8.net Business Sedan is US$350 per vehicle, known in advance, with flight tracking and meet and greet. For one traveller with a light bag the meter may cost less; for families and groups, the fixed fare usually wins.
Do booked cars at Tremblant have child seats?
Yes, on request. Give each child's age and weight when you book and the seats are fitted before pickup. That applies to hourly bookings, evening packages and the transfer to or from Montreal-Trudeau.
