Flight tracking and waiting, explained
Flight tracking means the desk watches your actual arrival rather than the scheduled time. A mainland flight that lands 40 minutes early or two hours late does not leave you waiting, and it does not leave your chauffeur at the wrong time.

Kahului sits in the central isthmus, so every resort area is a drive in a different direction. The table below uses routed road distances and clear-road times; the taxi column is the airport's own published estimate from its taxicab page, which it describes as a guide, not a guarantee.

Flat rate vs metered: what you are actually paying for
A taxi at OGG runs on a meter, which the airport lists at US$3.00 per mile, and its destination figures are estimates. A flat rate is agreed before you travel and does not move with traffic or the route. That is the core difference, and it cuts both ways.
On price alone, the meter usually wins on Maui. The airport's estimate to Kaanapali is about US$87, against US$270 for an Elly8.net business sedan. The flat rate is buying something different:
- Certainty before you fly. The cost of the transfer is known and paid, which matters for honeymoons, family budgets and company travel.
- A vehicle sized to the group. A business SUV for six with six bags is US$355 to Kaanapali; an Executive Sprinter for twelve with twelve bags is US$705, one fare for the vehicle.
- Someone already waiting. At a quiet hour, or when several large flights land together, a booked car removes the wait for whatever is available.
- Seats and service. Child seats are fitted before pickup, and the chauffeur handles the bags.

Departures: the same fare, more time
Airport fares are the same fixed price in either direction, so the ride back to OGG costs what the arrival did. The chauffeur collects you at the lobby or your door and drops you at the departures curb.
The one Maui-specific step is agriculture. Checked bags going to the US mainland pass a US Department of Agriculture inspection, with inspection stations in front of or at the airline check-in counters, according to the airport's agriculture inspection page. Kapalua Airport and inter-island hops
If you are flying between islands on a small commuter carrier, you may land at Kapalua Airport (JHM) on the west side instead. The state's Kapalua Airport page describes it as a commuter airport, and it is only about 7.5 km (4.7 mi) from Kaanapali. Groups landing on different flights
Wedding guests, reunions and incentive groups rarely arrive together. There are two sensible ways to handle it. The first is one car per flight: each party is met by its own chauffeur on its own tracked arrival, and nobody waits for anyone else. The second is one Executive Sprinter timed to the last of two or three flights that land close together, which keeps the group in one vehicle and costs one fare for the vehicle, but asks the earlier arrivals to wait in baggage claim.
As a rule, flights more than about an hour apart are better served by separate cars, and flights landing within the same hour suit a single Sprinter.
