A limousine bus, often called a limo bus or party bus, is a bus or large van fitted with limousine-style perimeter seating, lighting and a sound system, driven by a professional driver for a group that wants to travel together. The class on the Elly8.net fleet seats up to 12; larger buses exist in many cities, and the desk tells you what partners can offer for your date. Close alternatives are the 12-seat Executive Sprinter, with forward-facing seats and luggage space, and the stretch SUV limousine for up to 16.
Limo buses are quoted for your exact route and hours on the web booker, because size, date and local rules vary so much. The fixed-price benchmark on every city price list is the Executive Sprinter: US$190 an hour in Las Vegas or Nashville, US$200 in Chicago, US$210 in New York and US$220 in Toronto, with a three-hour minimum, all-in per vehicle.
How do you choose between a limousine bus, a Sprinter and a stretch SUV?
Choose by the purpose of the trip. A limousine bus suits a celebration where the ride is part of the night. An Executive Sprinter suits groups with luggage or a schedule, such as weddings, airport runs and wine days. A stretch SUV limousine suits up to 16 people who want the classic look for a short evening.
Most groups start with "how many people" and stop there. The better questions are how long the night is, whether there is luggage, how many stops you will make and how much getting in and out matters. Perimeter seating is sociable but awkward for older guests; forward-facing seats are calmer and safer for longer drives.
The sizes, side by side
| Vehicle | Passengers (fleet table) | Bags | Seating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Party Bus | up to 12 | 2 | Perimeter, lighting, sound | Birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette nights, concerts |
| Stretch SUV Limousine | up to 16 | 2 | Low limousine seating | Big celebrations, short evening routes |
| Stretch Limousine | up to 8 | 2 | Limousine seating | Weddings, proms, smaller nights out |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | 12 | Forward-facing, high roof | Wedding guests, wine days, airport groups |
| Business SUV or Van | up to 6 | 6 | Forward-facing | Smaller groups with luggage |
The figures are from the Elly8.net fleet table. Two points stand out. First, the limousine-style vehicles carry very little luggage, so they are evening vehicles, not airport vehicles. Second, a 12-seat Sprinter carries as many people as the party bus class with six times the bag space, which is why it is the default for anything that involves suitcases, golf bags or a long highway drive.
What a limousine bus costs, and what the price includes
Limo bus prices depend on the size of the bus, the night of the week, the season and local rules on minimum hours. Minimum hours can differ by night of the week and by season, so a quote for a Tuesday in January and a Saturday in May can differ a lot. That is why Elly8.net prices limo buses for your exact route and hours before you pay, rather than publishing one number that would be wrong half the time.
What the price includes should not vary. On an Elly8.net booking, the all-in price covers the driver, the vehicle, taxes and standard gratuity; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. It is a price per vehicle, not per person. When you compare quotes from elsewhere, check whether the number includes gratuity, fuel surcharges and the return trip to the garage, and whether the hours start at your pickup or at the operator's garage.
For a fixed benchmark, look at the evening out and event night package on any city price list, five hours with the vehicle waiting nearby. In an Executive Sprinter it costs US$950 in Las Vegas and Nashville, US$1,000 in Chicago, US$1,050 in New York and US$1,100 in Toronto.
| City | Executive Sprinter by the hour (3-hour minimum) | Evening out and event night, 5 hours, Sprinter | Arithmetic per person, 12 guests, 5 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Las Vegas | US$190 | US$950 | about US$79 |
| Nashville | US$190 | US$950 | about US$79 |
| Chicago | US$200 | US$1,000 | about US$83 |
| New York City | US$210 | US$1,050 | about US$88 |
| Toronto | US$220 | US$1,100 | about US$92 |
The per-person column is arithmetic for comparison only: Elly8.net charges per vehicle, and the price does not change if eleven guests turn up instead of twelve.
Before you accept any limo bus quote, ask five questions. Does the price include gratuity, or will a percentage be added on the night? When do the hours start: at your first pickup or when the bus leaves the garage? Is there a minimum number of hours on your date? What is the overtime rate if the night runs long, and is it charged in full hours or smaller blocks? And what happens if the booked vehicle breaks down: is a replacement guaranteed? A clear written answer to each tells you more about an operator than the photos of the interior lighting.
Check the operator before you book
Large passenger vehicles are regulated, and the rules differ by state and province. A few official places to look:
- In California, passenger carriers, including limousine and party bus operators, operate under authority from the California Public Utilities Commission, whose licensing branch grants or denies the right to operate.
- In Nevada, the Nevada Transportation Authority regulates for-hire passenger carriers and offers a tool to verify a carrier's certificate.
- In New York State, the Department of Transportation runs a bus and passenger carrier program that includes bus inspections.
Ask any operator for its licence or permit number and its commercial insurance before paying a deposit. Elly8.net books licensed, commercially insured local partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Toronto and the GTA run on the Elly8 fleet and chauffeurs. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer.
The rules on board
Alcohol is where limo bus nights go wrong. Rules differ by state, province and country, and in some places by the type of vehicle licence; some do not allow open alcohol at all. The driver follows local rules, and we do not suggest drinking in the vehicle. Ages matter too: for proms and graduations, the desk asks for the organiser's details and the age range of the group.
Practical rules apply everywhere. Passengers stay seated while the vehicle moves, and the driver decides when and where it is safe to stop. Operators can charge for damage or cleaning beyond normal use, so read the terms before you sign.
Which vehicle suits which city
Las Vegas. The Strip is short in distance and long in time. Hotel driveways, show times and the crowds at Sphere residencies make a staged vehicle with an agreed meeting spot the calm way to move a group. See Las Vegas limo and party bus service.
Nashville. A night on and around Lower Broadway is the classic limo bus booking. The bus drops the group and waits at an agreed spot, because the streets around the honky-tonks are crowded at night. See the Nashville car service price list.
New York City. Midtown traffic and the streets around Madison Square Garden after a concert are hard on large vehicles. For a long evening with several stops, a Sprinter is often easier to stage than a long bus, and the chauffeur sends the pickup corner when the event ends. See New York limo service.
Toronto. Event nights at Scotiabank Arena and Rogers Centre empty onto the same few downtown streets at once. A staged vehicle a short walk away beats the post-game crush. See Toronto limousine service.
Napa Valley. Wine country is where the bag allowance matters in reverse: you leave with cases of wine. Visit Napa Valley notes that some wineries have permit restrictions that limit the number of guests each day, so a group of twelve needs its tastings booked before the vehicle. Our wine tour limo guide covers the planning, and the Napa Valley car service page shows the day-trip prices.
Chicago. Concert and game nights fill the streets around the venues, and winter makes a short walk to a staged vehicle better than a long one. See Chicago limo service.
Planning around the clock: traffic, exits and timing
The vehicle is only as good as the plan around it, and a big vehicle punishes a loose plan more than a sedan does.
Avoid the commute. A 7 p.m. pickup on a weekday in a big city meets the tail of the evening rush. Starting at 7:30 or 8 often saves more time than it costs. Weekend nights have the opposite problem: the roads are clear early and crowded late.
Respect the venue exit. When a concert, game or show ends, thousands of people leave at once and the streets around the venue close or slow to a crawl. Large vehicles cannot wait at the front door. Agree a pickup point a short walk away, and leave five minutes before the encore if timing matters more than the last song.
Collect guests in a sensible order. A bus that crosses town three times to collect guests can burn an hour before the night starts. Ask guests to gather at two or three addresses, close together, and give the desk the order.
Think about the hotel driveway. Many hotel entrances are not built for long vehicles. Tell the desk the hotel name, and the chauffeur plans where to stop.
Build in the end of the night. The last drop-off often takes longer than expected, because guests live in different neighbourhoods. Book enough hours to cover it rather than paying for overtime at midnight.
Comfort and access
Perimeter seating is low and sideways, and the step into a bus or a stretch can be high. If the group includes older guests, anyone with limited mobility or anyone in formal dress for a wedding, a Sprinter with forward-facing seats and a step at the door is easier on everyone. Mention any mobility needs when you book; the desk will suggest the vehicle that fits.
Children travelling with the group need appropriate child seats, which forward-facing vehicles can take on request. Perimeter seating in a party bus is not designed for them.
Limo bus, rideshare or a few taxis
For a group of twelve, the alternative is three or four app rides or taxis. That works on a quiet night with flexible timing. It works less well at 1 a.m. outside a sold-out arena, when every group is requesting cars at once and prices rise with demand. The group splits up, someone waits alone, and nobody is sure who paid what. A single vehicle keeps the group together and fixes the price before the night begins. For birthday plans specifically, read birthday limo: plan the arrival and the ride home, and for the general maths see how much does a limo cost.
A sample five-hour evening
- 7:00 p.m. Pickup at the first address; the chauffeur confirms the route and the stops.
- 7:30 p.m. Second pickup for guests coming from another neighbourhood.
- 8:00 p.m. Drop-off at dinner. The vehicle waits nearby.
- 10:00 p.m. Short ride to the venue for the show or the game.
- Midnight. The chauffeur messages the pickup point a short walk from the exit; the group walks to the vehicle together.
That shape fits the five-hour evening package. Longer nights are booked by the hour on the party bus rental page or through the web booker, with up to 12 hours available at checkout.
How booking works
- Pickup and drop-off. Enter the first pickup address, the stops and the final drop-off.
- Vehicle. Choose a party bus, stretch, Sprinter or SUV, and tell us the number of guests and their age range.
- Reserve. The web booker shows the all-in price before you pay; confirmation arrives by email.
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup; 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show, refunded to the original card. Larger groups can book several vehicles through group transportation, and event organisers can use event transportation. Frequently asked questions
How many people fit in a limousine bus?
The party bus class on the Elly8.net fleet seats up to 12, and the stretch SUV limousine up to 16. Larger buses exist in many cities; tell the desk your group size and date and it will say what local partners can offer. For groups with luggage, a 12-seat Executive Sprinter carries 12 bags.
How much does a limousine bus cost?
Limo buses are quoted for your exact route and hours, because size, date and local minimums vary. As a fixed benchmark, an Executive Sprinter costs US$190 to US$220 an hour in the cities above, with a three-hour minimum, and the five-hour evening package from US$950. Prices are per vehicle.
Is the price per person?
No. Elly8.net prices are per vehicle, never per person. Dividing the fare by the group size is only arithmetic for comparison; the price stays the same if fewer guests come. The all-in price includes the driver, taxes and standard gratuity; tolls and parking are billed at cost.
Can we drink on a limousine bus?
It depends on local law, which differs by state, province and country and sometimes by vehicle licence. The driver follows local rules, and we do not suggest drinking in the vehicle. Ask the desk what applies to your city before the night.
How do I check that a limo bus company is licensed?
Ask for its permit or licence number and proof of commercial insurance, and check it with the regulator: the CPUC in California, the Nevada Transportation Authority in Nevada, or the relevant state or provincial body elsewhere. Elly8.net books licensed, commercially insured partners only.
How far ahead should we book?
For Friday and Saturday nights, proms, graduations and holiday weeks, book as early as you can, because large vehicles are limited. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup. Spring weekends compete with proms and graduations, and December with holiday parties, so dates fill early.
