A Winnipeg airport limo booked through Elly8.net is a fixed-price car with a chauffeur who tracks your flight and waits for you inside arrivals at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport (YWG) with a name board. The fare to downtown Winnipeg is set before you fly: US$100 in a business sedan, US$130 in a business SUV and up to US$260 in an Executive Sprinter, the same price in either direction.
YWG is a single-terminal airport about 12 km (7 mi) from downtown, roughly 20 minutes on a clear road, so the drive is rarely the hard part. The hard part is the curb at minus 25 C, a bank of flights landing together, or three people with ski bags and a car seat. This guide walks through exactly what happens, how waiting time works, and how a flat rate compares with the regulated taxi meter.
How does a pre-booked airport pickup at YWG work?
You add your flight number when you book. The desk tracks the flight, your chauffeur waits inside the arrivals area with a name board, and complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing. The chauffeur helps with bags and walks you to the car at the Arrivals Level 1 curb. The fare, from US$100 to downtown, is fixed before you fly.
That is the whole promise, and it is deliberately simple. Nothing is negotiated at the curb, nothing changes with the weather, and the price on your confirmation is the price on your receipt. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
| Vehicle | YWG to downtown, one way | YWG round trip | Passengers | Bags |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business sedan | US$100 | US$190 | up to 3 | 2 |
| Business SUV | US$130 | US$250 | up to 6 | 6 |
| First class SUV | US$160 | US$305 | up to 6 | 6 |
| First class sedan | US$175 | US$335 | up to 3 | 2 |
| Executive Sprinter | US$260 | US$495 | up to 12 | 12 |

Your arrival at YWG, step by step
1. Landing. Your flight lands and taxis to the gate. The desk already has the actual arrival time from flight tracking, so an early or late landing simply moves the pickup.
2. Customs, if you are arriving from abroad. Flights from the United States and overseas go through Canadian border processing before you reach the arrivals hall. The chauffeur is waiting for you, not for the scheduled time, so a slow line does not cost you anything.
3. Baggage claim. Most of the wait at YWG is at the carousel. If you have oversized items such as hockey bags, skis or a stroller, they may come out separately; message the chauffeur and they will wait.
4. Meeting your chauffeur. The chauffeur stands inside the arrivals area with a name board. You will have received the chauffeur's contact details before your flight, so you can call or message if you cannot see them.
5. The walk to the car. Pickups at YWG are on Arrivals Level 1, according to the airport's pickup page. In winter, the chauffeur keeps the car close by and walks you out when you are ready, so you go from the terminal into a warm vehicle instead of waiting at the curb.
6. The drive. Downtown is about 20 minutes on a clear road, via Wellington Avenue or Route 90 and Portage Avenue. Allow more at weekday rush hour and after a snowfall.
Our airport transfers and airport meet and greet pages explain the same process across every Elly8.net city.
Waiting time: what is included and what is not
Complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing. In practice that covers the normal sequence of taxiing, deplaning, customs and bags, and it is the reason to give us your flight number rather than a pickup time.
What is billed at cost is waiting beyond the included time: for example, if you clear bags and then stop for a long meal before meeting the chauffeur, or if a missed connection puts you on a flight hours later and you do not tell us. If a delay or cancellation changes your plans, message the desk; the pickup moves to the new flight.
For departures, waiting works the other way: the chauffeur arrives at your hotel or home at the agreed time, and the trip to YWG is the same fixed price as the arrival. Departures drop-off is on Departures Level 2. We usually suggest leaving downtown about two hours before a domestic flight and earlier for a US or international departure, with more margin in a snowstorm.
Flat rate vs the meter: what the alternatives cost
YWG has good everyday options, and for some travellers they are the better choice.
Taxi. The airport's taxi page says taxis are on Arrivals Level 1 near Door 3, and that the City of Winnipeg has a maximum fare schedule for taxis from the airport. The City's maximum fare schedule sets C$5.20 as the basic charge for an airport taxi, plus C$0.19 for each additional 100 metres and C$0.19 for each 20 seconds of waiting, with GST included. On distance alone, the 12 km to downtown works out to roughly C$28 at the maximum rate; that is our arithmetic, and traffic time adds to it. Taxis may charge less than the maximum, and a lower fare can be negotiated in advance.
Rideshare. Uber and Lyft are licensed to operate at YWG, and the airport's rideshare page puts pickups on Arrivals Level 1 outside Door 1. The City notes that personal transportation provider fares are not regulated but must be available and agreed in advance, which in practice means the price shown in the app, moving with demand.
Transit. Winnipeg Transit serves the airport from 5:24 a.m. to 1:17 a.m., per the airport, from a bus stop on the median outside Arrivals Level 1 near Door 3. The 2026 adult cash fare is C$3.45 on the City's transit fares page.
Hotel shuttles. Several airport-area hotels run their own shuttles, listed on the airport's shuttle page, which is the easy answer if you are staying next to the airport.
| Option | Price to downtown | Where you meet it | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winnipeg Transit | C$3.45 adult cash fare | Median bus stop near Door 3 | Solo, light bags, daytime |
| Airport taxi | metered, maximum about C$28 on distance alone | Arrivals Level 1 near Door 3 | Walk-up arrivals, one or two people |
| Rideshare | shown in the app, varies with demand | Outside Door 1 | Flexible plans, mild weather |
| Elly8.net business sedan | US$100, fixed | Inside arrivals, name board | Late flights, meetings, fixed budget |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter | US$260 per vehicle | Inside arrivals, name board | Teams, families, wedding parties |
The fair verdict: for one person with a carry-on on a mild afternoon, a taxi at roughly C$28 or the bus at C$3.45 costs far less than a pre-booked car, and we would take the taxi too. The flat rate is worth it when the meet itself matters: a late flight in January, a family with child seats, a team of eight with gear, a client you want met properly, or an expense report that needs the number before the trip. Our Winnipeg taxi or rideshare guide goes deeper on the meter, and chauffeur vs taxi compares the two across cities.
Which vehicle holds your luggage?
Match the vehicle to the bags, not only the people:
- Business sedan or first class sedan: up to 3 passengers and 2 bags. Right for a business traveller or a couple with carry-ons.
- Business SUV or first class SUV: up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. The usual winter choice for families, because coats, boots and car seats take room.
- Executive Sprinter: up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. For teams, tournament groups, wedding parties and anyone travelling with hockey bags or sports equipment.
Tell us about anything unusual when you book: skis, golf clubs, a wheelchair, a dog crate, instrument cases. If you are not sure, choose the bigger vehicle; arriving with a bag that does not fit is the one airport problem a flat rate cannot fix. The fleet page lists each class.
Families, groups and special arrivals
Child seats. Available on request. Give each child's age and weight when you book and the seats are fitted before you reach the car, which matters on a cold night when nobody wants to fumble with straps at the curb.
Groups. An Executive Sprinter at US$260 carries up to twelve. Divided between twelve people, that is about US$22 each; that division is arithmetic for comparison only, as the fare is charged per vehicle. Several vehicles can be booked together for conferences at the RBC Convention Centre or a team arrival; see group transportation.
Executives and clients. A first class sedan or first class SUV, a name board with the company name, and an NDA on request. Corporate accounts add monthly invoicing; see corporate accounts.
Private aviation. For arrivals at a private terminal rather than the main building, see private jet and FBO transfers; give the desk the FBO and tail number.

Frequently asked questions
Where does my chauffeur meet me at Winnipeg airport?
Inside the arrivals area, with a name board. The desk tracks your flight, so the chauffeur works to your actual landing time, and complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing. The car is at the Arrivals Level 1 curb, and in winter it is kept warm and close by.
How much is a limo from YWG to downtown Winnipeg?
US$100 in a business sedan, US$130 in a business SUV, US$160 in a first class SUV, US$175 in a first class sedan and US$260 in an Executive Sprinter, fixed and all-in per vehicle. A round trip booked together starts at US$190. The same fare applies to the airport.
Is a taxi cheaper than a pre-booked car from YWG?
Usually, yes, for one or two people. The City's maximum airport taxi fare is C$5.20 plus C$0.19 per 100 metres and per 20 seconds of waiting, roughly C$28 to downtown on distance alone. A pre-booked car is fixed, meets you inside, and suits groups, families and late arrivals.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Nothing changes for you. The desk tracks the flight and the chauffeur is there for the actual landing, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. If the flight is cancelled or you are rebooked, message the desk with the new flight and the pickup moves with it.
Can you fit hockey bags or skis?
Yes, in the right vehicle. A business SUV takes up to 6 bags and an Executive Sprinter up to 12. Tell us about sports equipment, oversized cases or a wheelchair when you book so the right vehicle is sent. If in doubt, choose the larger vehicle.
How early should you leave downtown for a YWG flight?
For a domestic flight we usually suggest leaving downtown about two hours before departure, and earlier for a US or international flight. In a snowstorm, allow more. The chauffeur drops you on Departures Level 2, and the fare is the same fixed price as the arrival.
