Uber Black is offered in Montreal, and Uber publishes what it typically costs to the airport. On its YUL page, the average Black fare from Montreal to Montreal-Trudeau over the month before we checked in October 2026 was about CA$112, against about CA$41 for UberX and CA$55 for Comfort. Uber is clear that these are averages for the past month, not fixed or guaranteed prices. The fare you see in the app depends on the time, the traffic and how many people are requesting rides at that moment.
A pre-booked chauffeur from Elly8.net on the same route is a fixed price per vehicle, set before you travel: from US$120 in a business sedan, US$195 in a first class SUV and US$210 in a first class sedan, all-in. Which is better depends less on the headline number than on the trip: the hour, the luggage, whether someone must be waiting when you land, and whether the price has to be known in advance.
How much is Uber Black in Montreal?
Uber's own YUL page showed an average of about CA$112 for Black from Montreal to the airport over the previous month, and describes these averages as neither fixed nor guaranteed. Live prices move with demand. An Elly8.net first class sedan between YUL and downtown is a fixed US$210, a business sedan US$120.
The published averages are a useful sense check because they come from Uber itself. When we looked, the Uber YUL airport page listed these averages from Montreal to the airport:
| Uber option, Montreal to YUL | Seats | Uber's published average, past month |
|---|---|---|
| Wait and Save | 4 | about CA$36 |
| UberX | 4 | about CA$41 |
| Priority | 4 | about CA$48 |
| Comfort | 4 | about CA$55 |
| UberXL | 6 | about CA$70 |
| Black | 4 | about CA$112 |
Averages hide the spread. A Black ride at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday can come in below the average; the same ride after a Canadiens game at the Bell Centre, on Grand Prix weekend or during a snowstorm can come in well above it.

What Black gets you, and what it does not
Uber describes Black as luxury rides with professional drivers. In practice it means a higher class of vehicle than UberX, booked through the same app, with the same tracking and in-app payment. For a solo business traveller crossing downtown at an ordinary hour, it is a comfortable, sensible option.
What the app does not do is commit a specific car to your flight. A Black request is matched in real time to a driver nearby, so availability depends on how many Black vehicles are working when and where you request. Because Black uses a narrower class of vehicles than UberX, there are fewer cars to match, and demand peaks such as event nights affect it like every other option. The app shows whether a Black car is available at the moment you look; nothing shows that in advance.
Where app rides pick up at YUL
The airport's rideshare page sets out the arrivals routine:
- Riders booking Uber Deluxe go to door 25 on the arrivals level to request the ride from that pickup area.
- Riders using any other type of Uber go to the Leigh-Capreol drop-off area via door 28 and follow the signs.
- Lyft riders also go to the Leigh-Capreol area via door 28.
For departures there is no app-specific area: drivers drop at the departures ramp for your airline. Between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. the airport suggests the P4 and P10 express drop-off areas to avoid the queue on the main ramp.
A pre-booked chauffeur works differently. The chauffeur tracks the flight and waits inside the arrivals hall with a name board, then walks you to the car. You are not requesting anything on a phone while collecting bags, and there is complimentary waiting after a tracked landing if customs is slow.
Uber Reserve vs a booked chauffeur
Uber's YUL page says riders can schedule a ride up to 90 days ahead with Uber Reserve, and can cancel for free until one hour before pickup or while no driver has accepted the trip. That flexibility is a genuine advantage, and fairness says it should be said plainly: Elly8.net's cancellation terms are stricter. Ours are free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show, refunded to the original card.
What the stricter terms buy is commitment on our side. A reservation on Elly8.net is a confirmed vehicle class at a fixed, all-in price per vehicle, with the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet included. Rides in Montreal are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer.

When Uber Black is the better choice
- You are one person crossing the city at an ordinary hour, with a light bag.
- Your plans may change at the last minute and the free cancellation window matters more than a fixed price.
- You want an on-demand premium ride after dinner and are happy to see what the app offers.
When a booked chauffeur wins
- Late and early flights. A 12:30 a.m. arrival or a 6 a.m. departure is when on-demand premium supply is thinnest. A booked car is assigned before you fly.
- A meeting on the other end. For an investor day downtown or a congress at the Palais des congres, a corporate roadshow day keeps one chauffeur and one car with you, from US$990 in a business sedan to US$1,980 in an Executive Sprinter for ten hours.
- Families and car seats. Child seats are fitted on request before pickup, which an on-demand ride cannot promise.
- Groups and luggage. Black seats four. A business SUV seats six with room for six bags, and an Executive Sprinter seats twelve.
- A fixed budget. Companies that need the price before the trip, and an invoice after it, can open a corporate account with monthly invoicing. NDAs are available on request.
- Event nights. Bell Centre games and concerts, festival evenings in the Quartier des Spectacles and Grand Prix weekend all push app prices up at exactly the moment everyone leaves. The evening out and event night package keeps a car waiting for five hours, from US$550 in a business sedan.

Grand Prix weekend: a special case
The Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix runs on May 21 to 23, 2027, according to the official race site. It is the busiest weekend of the year for cars in Montreal. The organizer publishes official taxi and rideshare drop-off points away from Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve each year, and app requests near the island after the race face crowds, closed roads and demand pricing at the same time. If your weekend includes the race, dinners downtown and a YUL departure on Sunday night, book the cars in advance and agree evening pickup points with the desk. The Montreal city page explains the island access in detail.
Black vs our classes: which is the like-for-like?
Uber Black sits closest to our first class sedan, typically a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or similar, at US$210 between YUL and downtown or US$180 an hour, three-hour minimum. If what you want is a clean, quiet, professionally driven car rather than a specific badge, the business sedan, an E-Class, CT6, Continental or similar, at US$120 to downtown is the closer match on price. The full list of classes, seats and bag space is on the fleet page, and our black car service page explains how the classes differ.
Three Montreal trips, three answers
A Tuesday lunch meeting in the Golden Square Mile. One person, a laptop bag, a hotel on Sherbrooke. An on-demand Black or even UberX is the sensible choice; booking a chauffeur for a ten-minute ride is rarely worth it.
A Friday 11:50 p.m. landing with a 9 a.m. presentation. One person, a suitcase and no appetite for a phone queue at the curb. A business sedan at US$120, booked with the flight number, means the chauffeur is inside arrivals whatever time customs finishes.
A Saturday wedding party arriving from Toronto. Nine people, garment bags and a schedule. Two or three app cars would arrive at different times; one Executive Sprinter at US$315 per vehicle keeps everyone together. Our Montreal wedding limo guide covers the rest of that day.
A note on other ways in
The STM 747 bus runs 24 hours a day and the 24-hour pass that covers it costs C$11.25, which makes it the best value by far for a solo traveller with time. Our Montreal taxi fare estimator breaks down the meter for trips beyond downtown, and if you are coming from Vermont, the Burlington to Montreal cost comparison covers the cross-border run.

Frequently asked questions
Is Uber Black available in Montreal?
Yes. Uber lists Black among its options for trips to and from YUL, and published an average of about CA$112 from Montreal to the airport over the month before we checked. Whether a Black car is free near you at a given moment shows only in the app when you request.
How much is Uber Black from YUL to downtown Montreal?
Uber does not publish a fixed price. Its YUL page gives monthly averages, about CA$112 for Black in the other direction when we checked, and live prices move with demand. An Elly8.net first class sedan is a fixed US$210 either way, and a business sedan US$120, all-in.
Where do you meet an Uber at Montreal airport?
The airport sends Uber Deluxe riders to door 25 on the arrivals level, and riders of other Uber types and Lyft to the Leigh-Capreol drop-off area via door 28. An Elly8.net chauffeur meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board instead.
Is a booked chauffeur more expensive than Uber Black?
Not always. A business sedan from YUL to downtown at US$120 fixed is in the same range as Uber's published Black average, though currencies differ. A first class sedan at US$210 costs more and guarantees the car, the chauffeur waiting in arrivals and the price before you fly.
Can you schedule Uber Black in advance in Montreal?
Uber's YUL page says Uber Reserve allows requests up to 90 days ahead, with free cancellation until one hour before pickup or while no driver has accepted. Elly8.net bookings are confirmed at a fixed price, with free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup and set charges after that.
Which is better for a group?
Black seats four. For five or six people with luggage, a business SUV is US$160 from YUL to downtown, and for up to twelve an Executive Sprinter is US$315, per vehicle. Divided between ten people, that Sprinter is about US$31.50 each, as arithmetic for comparison only.
