Taking an Uber from Prague Airport is simple, because Uber Airport is the airport's own official taxi service. You order it in the Uber app, at a self-service kiosk or at a staffed counter in the arrivals hall, receive a six-digit PIN, and board at the pickup point directly in front of the arrival hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, according to Václav Havel Airport Prague. The app shows the price before you confirm.
The alternative is a pre-booked chauffeur who is already standing in the arrivals hall with your name when you come through the doors. Through Elly8.net, a fixed transfer from the airport to the Old Town costs from US$95 in a business sedan to US$250 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, all-in. Rides in Prague are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. This guide walks through both, step by step.
How do I get an Uber from Prague Airport?
Choose the Uber Airport product in the app, or use a self-service kiosk or the staffed counter in your terminal's arrivals hall. You receive a six-digit PIN. Walk to the pickup point in front of the arrival hall, find your car and give the driver the PIN after boarding; the service only works with a pre-ordered ride.
Every step happens after you have cleared passport control and collected your bags. For a solo traveller with a carry-on, the whole process takes a few minutes. For a family with four cases, it means organising luggage, children and a phone order in a busy hall after an overnight flight.
Which terminal you will land in
Prague has two passenger terminals, and it matters which one you use. According to Prague Integrated Transport, Terminal 1 serves flights from outside the Schengen area, including the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and Terminal 2 serves flights within the Schengen area, such as Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
For North American travellers, that usually means:
- A nonstop flight from North America, where one runs on your route, lands at Terminal 1, and you clear Czech passport control there.
- A connection through Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Amsterdam or Zurich lands at Terminal 2, because you entered the Schengen area at the connecting airport.
- A connection through London arrives at Terminal 1.
Uber Airport has pickup points in front of both terminals, and the counters and kiosks are in both arrival halls. A pre-booked chauffeur tracks your flight from the number you give us and waits in the right hall.
The three ways to order Uber Airport
Prague Airport describes three ordering channels, all ending at the same pickup point.
1. The Uber app. The airport calls this the fastest way. Select the Uber Airport product, and the app shows the destination and the price before you confirm. You can pay in cash or by a card connected to the app.
2. Self-service kiosks. The kiosks have an interface similar to the app, with printed instructions next to the screen. Payment at a kiosk is by card only, through the terminal, and you receive a receipt with the details of your ride.
3. Staffed counters. There is a counter with assistants at each terminal, open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. They help you place the order, and you can pay by card or cash.
Whichever channel you use, the airport asks only for an email address, so that the tax receipt and a trip summary can be sent to you; it also recommends adding a phone number for smoother communication. You then receive the six-digit PIN.
The pickup point and the PIN
The pickup points, which the airport calls Pick-up Points, are directly in front of the arrival halls of Terminals 1 and 2, and they are the same for all three ordering methods. Cars are available around the clock. Between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., dispatchers stand by the arrival hall exits and at the car meeting points to help, and an Uber coordinator or the counter can answer questions.
After boarding, you give the driver your PIN. The airport is explicit that the service cannot be used without a pre-ordered ride and its PIN, which means you cannot simply walk up to a waiting car.
| Step | Uber Airport | Elly8.net chauffeur |
|---|---|---|
| Before you fly | Nothing to book | Book online with your flight number; price fixed in US$ |
| After baggage reclaim | Order in the app, at a kiosk or at the counter | Walk out; the chauffeur is waiting in arrivals with a name board |
| Payment | Cash or card in the app; card at kiosks; card or cash at counters | Already paid by card in US$ |
| Finding the car | Walk to the pickup point outside, match the car, give the PIN | The chauffeur takes the bags and walks you to the vehicle |
| Flight delays | Order when you land | Flight tracked; complimentary waiting after a tracked landing |
| Price | Shown in the app before you confirm | From US$95 per vehicle to the Old Town |
What about surge pricing at the airport?
Uber does not publish fixed fares from Prague Airport, so we will not invent one. The app calculates the price when you order and shows it before you accept, and like any app-priced service it can move with demand. At the airport, demand tends to bunch: several long-haul and European flights landing close together, a late-evening wave of arrivals, or a public transport disruption.
The airport itself flags one current factor. Because of the reconstruction of the Aviatická intersection on the approach road, it warns of traffic restrictions and longer journey times at rush hour, and suggests leaving for the airport well in advance. A longer journey can affect an app price; it does not change a fixed Elly8.net fare, although parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
The public transport option, for comparison
For light travellers, Prague's public transport from the airport is good value, and it is the honest benchmark. Prague Integrated Transport lists:
| Line | Route | Time to the centre | Fare |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bus 59 | Airport to Nádraží Veleslavín, then metro line A | about 35 min | CZK 50 (CZK 46 in the app) |
| Bus 100 | Airport to Zličín, then metro line B | about 45 min | CZK 50 (CZK 46 in the app) |
| AE (Airport Express) | Terminal 1 to the Main Railway Station | about 45 min | CZK 200 |
| Night buses 907 and 910 | From Terminal 2 to night line connections | about 45 to 50 min | CZK 50 (CZK 46 in the app) |
Luggage up to 25 by 45 by 70 cm travels free on standard lines. Note one current change on the PID page: because of road repairs in front of Terminal 1, the Terminal 1 boarding stop for public transport has been temporarily closed, and departures board at the Terminal 2 stop. Check the PID site before you travel.
When Uber Airport is the right choice
We would take Uber Airport rather than book a car when:
- You are one or two people with light bags and no fixed time to be anywhere.
- Your plans changed at the last minute, so there was no time to book.
- You land during the day when the counters and dispatchers are on hand to help.
It is a well-organised service, and the airport has gone to some trouble to make it easy for visitors.
When a pre-booked chauffeur is the better choice
Families and groups with luggage. A Business Sedan or First Class Sedan seats three with two bags. A Business SUV or First Class SUV seats six with six bags, and an Executive Sprinter seats twelve with twelve. The fares from the airport to the Old Town are fixed per vehicle, and the same in the other direction:
| Vehicle | Seats / bags | Airport to Old Town | Round trip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Sedan | 3 / 2 | US$95 | US$185 |
| Business SUV | 6 / 6 | US$125 | US$240 |
| First Class SUV | 6 / 6 | US$155 | US$295 |
| First Class Sedan | 3 / 2 | US$170 | US$325 |
| Executive Sprinter | 12 / 12 | US$250 | US$475 |
For a group of eight, one Executive Sprinter at US$250 works out at about US$31 a person, for comparison only; the price is charged per vehicle.
Late arrivals. The Uber counters close at 9:00 p.m. A delayed evening flight from New York or Toronto is the moment a name board in the hall is worth most.
Old Town hotels. Many hotels sit on narrow or one-way lanes where a car cannot pull up at the door. Give us the hotel name and the desk confirms the nearest drop-off point in advance; the chauffeur helps with the bags for the last stretch.
A fixed budget. The fare is agreed in US dollars before you fly, so a traffic jam on the approach road or a busy evening does not change it.
Business arrivals. For executives and clients, the meet-and-greet and a receipt on a corporate account are part of the service. See airport transfers and meet and greet.
Children, accessibility and private aviation
Child seats. If you are travelling with young children, ask for child or booster seats when you book an Elly8.net transfer and give the children's ages; the partner fits them before pickup, so you do not have to carry seats across the Atlantic. If you plan to use an app ride instead, check the seat options for your booking before you fly rather than at the kerb.
Extra help. Travellers who need assistance through the terminal can arrange it with their airline and the airport in advance. Tell our desk as well, and the chauffeur meets you at the point where the assistance team hands over, and loads wheelchairs or walkers with the luggage.
Private and business aviation. If you arrive on a private jet, give us the tail number or the handling agent, and the chauffeur meets you as the handler directs, rather than at the public pickup points. See private jet and FBO transfers.
Groups. For a wedding party, a conference delegation or an incentive group landing on several flights, the desk can stagger vehicles to match each arrival, or hold one Executive Sprinter for the whole group. See group transportation and, for the wider comparison with app rides, chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft.
Getting to the airport for your flight home
Plan more time than the clear-road drive suggests. Our routing gives about 33 minutes from the Old Town to the airport on a clear road for the 17 km (11 mi), and the airport warns of longer travel times at rush hour while the Aviatická works continue. For a long-haul flight, our desk usually suggests leaving the Old Town about three hours before departure, more on a weekday morning or with a group.
If you are leaving on a late flight and want to see the Castle first, book a car by the hour, keep the suitcases in the vehicle and go straight to the airport afterwards; Prague Castle asks visitors not to bring large baggage into the Castle area. If you are heading out of the city first, our Prague day trip guide covers Karlštejn and Kutná Hora, both of which can end at the airport. Prague car service by the hour costs from US$85 an hour in a business sedan, with a 3-hour minimum.
